So what do you think it's worth; there are of course only 30 in the world!

Or more to the point, what do you think it will be worth a few years down the line?

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Roz May 19, 2004, 02:08:53 AM
The only one I saw on ebay was a buy it now - so the dealer chose the price and Gimli (of our very own forum) bought it!

So as yet one has not gone out on the "open" market if you like.

So any ideas guys? If there are 500 Merry's in the world and they are £1000 a piece, these guys are nearly 17 rarer, does that make them worth £17,000  ;D  ;)

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: ztaylork May 19, 2004, 02:11:52 AM
I think it will top out around $1100, I think most people will be content to not have a "pear tree" prop card in their master set.  At least I will be anyways.  :)

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: cjdmadcow May 19, 2004, 02:23:55 AM
I'm not so sure that it will be as high a value as you may think. Even a completist like me could do without this card rather than pay ridiculous prices.

Now.....if there were only 30 Daniel Radcliffe auto cards, we would be talking huge money.

It's a shame his card isn't in the first issue, but I suppose it makes sense to hold hims back for the Philosophers Stone issue at Christmas, being as it was the first film.

Just my theory anyway.

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Roz May 19, 2004, 02:24:59 AM
Ah yes but it will be a Sorcerer's stone auto...

can you live with it  - rather than a Philosopher's Stone auto?

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: gimli May 19, 2004, 03:37:15 AM
for me it was worth £287 :o

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Roz May 19, 2004, 03:41:59 AM
True - but that was 'buy it now' - so that doesn't count  :P

LOL!

Just kidding - but it's the only one I've seen on ebay!

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: gimli May 19, 2004, 03:58:46 AM
glad I got it but I hope they don't start turning up cheaper!

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Roz May 19, 2004, 04:06:31 AM
I would really be very surprised indeed!

30 in the world is nothing... even cards inc who bought 250 cases got "a very few" in!

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: gimli May 19, 2004, 04:11:56 AM
if the information on the auction it was one for evey 25 cases so cards inc would have got 10 for their 250 cases wait a minute that does not work if it is one per 25 then that works out at 20 cards

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Roz May 19, 2004, 04:13:39 AM
True... but if Richard Wheat buys 25 cases from Cards inc, or 40 cases or whatever he will want his 25 case incentive card - and as UK "distributors" they should pass that on!

 >:(

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: gimli May 19, 2004, 04:15:13 AM
but will they?

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: samwise16 May 19, 2004, 04:15:20 AM
i would pay £300 max and trade with a couple of cards LOTR autos or HP auto/prop/costume cards and maybe my step dads kidney...all for a good cause ofcourse  ;)

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: gimli May 19, 2004, 04:18:49 AM
Better someone elses than your own kidney

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: MakTheYak May 19, 2004, 04:21:57 AM
Always better someone elses.... I've only got one, I can't afford to give that away! LOL!

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Roz May 19, 2004, 04:23:03 AM
Oh damn - I'd offered Gimli your last kidney for the Neville auto he's got spare (shh best take that sweetner out of the deal Chris!)

 :-\

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: gimli May 19, 2004, 04:25:46 AM
Body parts are harder to sell I'll stick with the cards thanks ;D

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: sonarghost May 19, 2004, 05:03:21 AM
I am dying to get my hands on one of these pear tree cards!!

I told a dealer today that I would pay up to $1200 for it.

Man, I wish someone would put one of these up on ebay!!

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Ed... Van Halen May 19, 2004, 05:10:29 AM
I would say at a rough guesstimate....oh £350??? Sound about right Roz?
EVH

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Roz May 19, 2004, 05:43:13 AM
Hmm who knows!

I think we just have to see what they go for on ebay - but with artbox keeping some and only 30 in the world... how many are going to show up?

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Ed... Van Halen May 19, 2004, 05:46:13 AM
An interesting offshoot of this discussion could be asking whether many dealers actually collect on some level or not? I mean how many who receive this card will just sit on them or keep them in their own collections?
EVH

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Roz May 19, 2004, 05:51:43 AM
Yes that's a very interesting question!

After all I think many dealers do collect, and I feel it's amazing that only one has been on ebay so far... and so many cases have been cracked open!

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: samwise16 May 19, 2004, 06:25:57 AM
i reckon the max you will ever see sell seperatly on ebay will be about 10, and if any more are sold i think most people will sell it within a master set. I guess alot of people will keep it for future profit  ???

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: gimli May 19, 2004, 09:37:37 AM
not to rub it in but I've got one ;D

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: samwise16 May 19, 2004, 09:43:38 AM
yea okay okay...keep rubbing it in  :'( so that means only 9 left out of my 10 i expect to see on ebay. yours may only be the last BIN, i expect sellers to list it in the open market no reserve, just if the price isn't right...pull it down   ;)

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: ferdinand_the_yak May 19, 2004, 04:58:24 PM
Hi Gimli,
Would you mind posting a scan of what the card looks like. As I will never get my hands on one, I would like to see what one looks like  :-[

Cheers, FTY

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: samwise16 May 20, 2004, 03:47:36 AM
yours must be worth atleast $1100! the best number you could wanted apart from #1 or #30

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Harbottle May 20, 2004, 05:49:43 PM
#22/30 has found a home! ;)

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Roz May 20, 2004, 06:02:57 PM
Harbottle? You have one!

Gimli yours is 23 isn't it???

Wow, so far 3 of 30 are ALREADY accounted for. On this forum alone which has only been going 48 hours  ;D

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Harbottle May 20, 2004, 06:08:09 PM
I have one indeed  :)- it arrived at 0730 this morning. I did not want to say anything until I got it in my hands, as I read about Chris' going AWOL :-[ It would be interesting if we could keep track of all of these - do you want me to scan it and send it to you as a record as I have no site to post it?

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Roz May 20, 2004, 06:21:22 PM
A great idea - please do - once we get Chris' into the net we shall have 3 which is a very large percentage of the world's population of em... 10% in fact

Interestingly enough I have heard rumour that only 15 have been included and distributed; I am not sure what till happen to the other 15.

It makes sense though, if for every pack of 25 cases sold a peatree was given away then there would be 750 cases  ;) so there has to be some other method of distribution later on, the same goes for the Honeydukes card, 70x10 is 700 cases!

Interesting!

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Harbottle May 20, 2004, 06:46:11 PM
I suppose they work on the assumption that very few dealers will buy 25 cases, or even 10 come to that, It may be that 15 were left? I've always wondered with these card companies how many they keep. One for the archives? Managing Director has one? I designed the set, I want one! etc. Also, I was thinking, including for all the other low numbered cards as well - they must hold some back to swap with faulty/damaged cards pulled from packs?

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: gimli May 20, 2004, 08:10:21 PM
;D they  found them after a lot of searching this moring it was hidden under a pile of other stuff  ;D

what a relief

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: samwise16 May 20, 2004, 08:58:50 PM
O yes! nice one chris. Don't want to be too cheeky but can you post the scans on here please. would be great, as i'd like to make an album of all the cards seeing as i wont be able to get all the cards.  :'( would be cool if you could.

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: gimli May 20, 2004, 09:04:03 PM

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: ferdinand_the_yak May 20, 2004, 09:13:58 PM
The psychological damage caused by a few cards is amazing... I swear i have aged 10 years since beginning this hobby - looking out for cards in the mail, harassing the post office, stressing when cards don't arrive, waking up at 3am to do last minute bidding on ebay...

When will it all end???

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: samwise16 May 20, 2004, 09:14:50 PM
yea that would be great chris, my email address is benclementz@hotmail.com wasn't harbottles 23  ??? or 22...must go look

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: Roz May 20, 2004, 09:20:16 PM
No Ben it was 22; don't stress us out by telling us more than one of each number exist (grrr).

Gimli if you email the card pics to me I'd be grateful - it's almost possible we can have good pics of each peartree card that is in the collectors domain!!!

You know the address; and I'll also be making a site to go with this forum with pics of each card on... eventually!

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
: gimli May 20, 2004, 10:20:57 PM
no probs send you the picys tonight

: Re:What do you think a Pear Tree Leaf card is worth?
