But that's not why I'm here. For the second year in a row, I will be hosting a Charity Event. This year's beneficiary is ACTOR - for those of you not aware, ACTOR is "ACTOR, A Commitment To Our Roots, is the first-ever federally chartered not-for-profit corporation dedicated strictly to helping comic book creators in need."

I think that the organization does wonderful work and I'm extremely pleased to be a part of the fund-raising effort. We are doing something a little different this year from our past Raffles and Auctions- THIS YEAR we are doing what I am lovingly calling Basket Raffles. There are 7 different baskets, each revolving around a theme, filled to the brim with all sorts of goodies!  As a separate effort, we will be doing a few (2 at the moment) on-line "silent" auctions to be concluded at the event. All proceeds raised will go to ACTOR.

We have begun getting in donations from collectors, dealers and manufacturers, so I should have a more interesting, detailed list of goodies up for grabs shortly. Just wanted to pop in and let you guys know about this amazing event. As last year, we will be selling tickets online in about 10 days or so (maybe earlier) and I will mail any and all prizes to the winners, so EVERYONE has a fair shot at winning. Thanks for listening to me ramble :)

That's great to hear!  We don't think we are making it to the Spring show this year, so it is nice to know we can participate online :D

Today is the day you've long been waiting for - the official start of the online raffle ticket sales! Please remember that your ticket purchases benefit ACTOR, and even better, you get a chance to win some absolutely fantastic items donated by your fellow collectors, dealers and the very generous manufacturers in our industry! We thank everyone who took the time and energy to donate goodies to our cause. I will be posting details about the specific baskets as we go - but only items donated by manufacturers will be highlighted on the Raffle page.

Winners will be announced on April 1st at the Philly Non-Sports Card Show - and, if present, can take home their goodies immediately  Everyone else will have to wait for me to mail them off.

Is the raffle open to international participants or just the US?
I wondered about buying tickets but not if I'm disqualified from entering. ;)

It's nice to see that Artbox is participating.  They usually don't get involved with shows other than the San Diego Comic Con.

Thanks to all who've participated so far - and I like being able to specify baskets too - It was HARD though to try and make each one appealing and I'm very grateful to all the companies who are participating this year - Artbox, Dynamic, Intergalactic and Rittenhouse Archives (as if they had a choice *lol*)

Thanks for clarifying that for me - I would have felt a right doofuss if I'd been and bought some ticketsonly to find I couldn't receive a prize (assuming I won something of course!) ;) ;D

We've just gotten word from Inkworks that they'll be sending some goodies along shortly - so some of the baskets may look even better soon!

This is the one time of the year that I feel good about being very over_worked *lol*

Inkworks is sending along a box of Veronica Mars for the Bad Girls basket, a load of DVD's (yes, I know that's bad cause I'm sure they're US region encoded) of The 4400, Lost and Firefly which are all going in the Kitchen Sink basket and a Family Guy Season 1 uncut sheet going in the Toons basket.

Rittenhouse has also donated a complete, matching numbered set of the Arts and Images cards from Bond: Dangerous Liasions to be added to the Spy Guys basket :)

Just to make things a little more interesting...

Not a problem in this country - UK. Although all DVD players by law have to be set on region 2, most are set for multi region or can be changed via the remote. My £30 player (thanks Sharon  8) ) plays worldwide discs. The best place I've seen for the latter method is www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk.

This is a no-brainer. It's got to be the... Space...The Final Frontier Basket  :rofl: >:D

I'll let you know at the end of the online selling period if you're right. That Kids Stuff basket is doing pretty well. A certain 7 year old in my house is saving his pennies (Literally!) for that one...

and the Dorian Cleavenger cards (artistic renditions of lovely women) is going in the Bad Girls basket.

Along with some promos for each of those - incl. San Diego promos! and the P1, P2, and P3 promos for Wizard of Oz!

TOPPS donated prizes! I'm shocked as we've asked before and never received anything and they sent TWO LOTR: E sketches!!

EVEN BETTER - One is a Cummens sketch (which we're saving for the silent auction -which everyone, worldwide and online will be able to particpate in) and one a nice Ryan Benjamin sketch - which is going into a basket!!

Can you tell I'm shocked??
