I'm glad she was a nice person to meet - I'll keep my fingers crossed that she might come to a Collectormania event... or do a play in the West End I can stand outside... well when I say stand I probably do mean on skates :)

Last night I did my first forward criss cross - it's very simple slalom but to me it's a big deal :)

WAY TO GO ROZ
I love skating i think it is fantastic

Hooray - thanks McGonagal... do you think the crowd will think the same when I knock them over like 10 pin bowls to get to Maggie Smith :P

I go skating in London a lot so in all fairness I probably would have my skates with me... erm when I say "a lot" - I mean 3 times in the past 2 months but we go for a long day/weekend out as it's a big journey.

I am practicing to get good at this but I only took it up (really) this season - I bought my skates last year but didn't really know how to use them properly and hobbled around car parks etc (but loved it). I am 24 so learning new things doesn't come as easy as it used to - and I am just over 6 foot tall so I have a long way to fall (MakTheYak/Mark's 6'4'' so he has further :) )

I have retired for skating i used do speed and figure but now
I am mum i am to busy.but every now and then i have a go
while the kids are skating around the local park. I love ten pin
bowling  to so if you do scatter people get it on film lol.
I used to love going backwards and dancing .
but anything we learn that is new is great
and remember to stop before you bowl
Maggie Smith over  ;D :P ;D :P

Good point!

Ooh I will know who to come to for some pointers then :)

So you know how basic forward criss cross is but I am doing it with a heelbreak on my rightfoot and using it as my leading foot so that  makes it a bit cleverer (not a lot but something!!!). But forward crisscross and spinstops seem to make a huge basis for dancing so that's a help.

We went on an Eddy Matzger workshop quite recently -you might have heard of him - he's one of the best speed skaters in the world these days, he's won about 150 marathons and even won a race of him vs a cable car going up a hill in California :) Crazy man! I want to be the best skater I can be in loads of areas (so I am not just a cone head or a lycra wearing nonce) but a bit of everything - so that my technique for skating is good overall. I am never going to win races or anything but if I have a laugh and keep fit into the bargain I'll be chuffed.

 ;D

There's going to be a race in Cambridgeshire soon... I wondered whether to enter the kiddie/gumbie race but decided I couldn't take the humiliation - I am going to marshall instead  :P

You should have entered at least you wouldhave had lots of fun and laughter.
But just a word of advice always where knee pads (under you clothing if you don't want
to be seen with them on)
I never did and now have arthritis in my knee .

you will have to post a picture of you skating.

what is collectormania ??????

it is a convention were they (showmasters - organizers) get 30 guests (60 at the next show) from various films and sci-fi shows like star trek, star wars, harry potter, lord of the rings, terminator, matrix and others. The guests sit at tables and sign for 10 - 20 pound a signiture depending on how big the star is. lasts 4 days and is free to get in as it is in a shopping centre.

www.collectormania.com  ;D

It gives you a big buzz... if it wasn't in a shopping centre then it wouldnt be that good..its the crowds which make Collectormania what it is

It's great fun, although if you get claustrophobic or don't like crowds it's definitely not for you!

would suffer just to go to one.  We never have cool things like that
here in Perth

Yeah, I am so jealous of the UK/US forum members. Collectormania, comic con... while we here get nothing  :'( If we want to get photos/autographs from the actors, we have to hope that we have some wonderfully kind people overseas who will get them for us!

*note to self, be nice to forum members around convention time* ;D ;)

You are so lucky mcgonagall! Not a peep over here in Sydney of any HP stars at all! :-\

I only realised she was coming because they advertised the play in the
western Australian and My hybby noticed that she was one of the actors.

Note to self I to must be nice to forum members and see if i can bribe
any to get me a auto or two
