: rns91294 January 26, 2006, 03:16:35 AM
Okay, are Roz and I the only ones who have this game for the DS?  I thought if anyone else has it, maybe we could share codes to visit each oterhs towns, if you have the WiFi connection.  I am going to try and buy that tonight.  Just thought I would ask though.

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing

I just got my DS about a week ago and have only played it for about 30 minutes right now....
I am to busy with Mario Kart DS lol....but I liked what I played...and once I wear out Mario Kart I will be playing it next

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 26, 2006, 04:23:48 AM
lol Mario Kart is cool. The Japanese players are the best to Wifi against they have unlocked all sorts ;D

Animal Crossing is MAD. But I love it already!

Mark's first comment was "I think Animal Crossing is Dangerous - I can imagine remembering to put out the recycling for animal crossing, but not the recycling in real life"

ROFL.

There's so much going on - my trouble at the moment though is that my house has little bugs running around in it - and Tom Nook's shop is going to be closed tomorrow which sucks somewhat as it means I can't sell items or progress a great deal.

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: rns91294 January 27, 2006, 04:57:31 AM
Yes, he closes, but his store gets bigger :D

You have bugs in your house?  Do you have any food in there or anything?  I bet they are ants, and I still nheed to catch them for my collection at the museum, but can not figure out how.  I heard you should leave food out for them.  Did you drop a peach or apple in there?

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 27, 2006, 03:48:39 PM
Well... you don't want to hear this (no I didn't have food in my home) but I trod on them and they dissappeared  I couldn't catch them as you can't use your net in your home.

Nooks cranny is back and bigger than ever (and has sliding doors and is called something else but I still don't have a shovel :(

Bryan why not PM me your friend code for wifi mario Kart play ;)

You do realize that what you guys posted sounded very odd

It sounds as if you guys have a double life or something  I'm sorry, but at first I thought Roz actually had bugs in her house

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 27, 2006, 04:06:42 PM
lol no, no bugs in my home :) it's not usually that sort of climate here in the UK :)

But yep I daresay we are living double lives

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 27, 2006, 04:38:17 PM
I love the flame red DS. :D But unless you see it in a sale I would wait for the new DS - they'll do Zelda, Mario etc etc versions of the new one soon enough. But you may very well see the old DS (maybe even in the awesome red) a little cheaper if you keep your eyes peeled. Just my two pence worth.

Animal Crossing and Mario Kart are great - I just can't get over how good (and simple to use) the Wifi is. I also can't wait for Tetris DS (playing against anyone and everyone in the world??? How awesome is that?) and Metroid?? Ooh!

As you can probably tell I haven't done online gaming before, but that's because it was either something you had to pay for, very glitchy or just annoying!! Nintendo Wifi is none of the above ;)

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: rns91294 January 27, 2006, 11:52:12 PM
I am ordering my WiFi connector tonight!!

Mike, I re-read what you thought sounded odd and just coulnd't figure out why it sounded that way.  Then I realized, it is because I have the game and know exactly what we are talking about   It is a very addicting game and so much fun.  I think everyone neesd to get this.

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 28, 2006, 02:08:29 AM
woo hoo!

Well today's the 3rd day - and still no shovel in the shop (tho Mark's shop had one - but of course is now sold out), anyway, I just went online and met some lovely guys who found me a spare shovel. I also got some cherries from another guy there, and a coconut washed up on my beach this morning (which I believe I can plant)

HAPPY DAYS

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: rns91294 January 28, 2006, 04:56:37 AM
You can plant the cocunut.  We just did that too.  Plant that Cherry, and when I visit you, I will need a cherry from your cherry tree and some peaches too ;)

Oh, and I know how to turn your shovel in to a golden shovel.  Do you dare want to know?

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 28, 2006, 06:55:15 PM
Yeah Sara, I have to bury it - but in order to do that - I have to have 2 shovels ;)

Mike think of it like a radio - it comes with a receiver right but someone has to be transmitting the signal for you to receive? The DS can receive and send information by Wireless, but you have to set up a wireless network (from your broadband connection) on your home PC (lots of homes have them - mine does ;D John's does) in order for it to be able to connect and send info around the world - so that I can go to Sara's town and vice versa.

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 28, 2006, 08:42:24 PM
Yes that's true you can, so if DanFan wanted to play she would choose "new resident" on the start up screen (after you had started playing the game)  and they'd set up an extra bed etc in your home for her ;) it's a bit risque :P

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: EmmasOneandOnly January 28, 2006, 08:43:33 PM
Well hopefully I could trust Monica (DanFan) to live in my house ;)

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 28, 2006, 08:44:40 PM
I'm sure you could - and when she goes around picking fruit/fishing/digging things up to sell she will have her own money but she can help you pay off the mortgage - when you have paid off your mortgage your house is extended (and then you have a new mortgage to pay off)

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: EmmasOneandOnly January 28, 2006, 08:49:32 PM
Sounds like fun ;)

What about the making your own clothing and wallpaper feature :-\

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 28, 2006, 09:04:08 PM
I haven't made my own wallpaper yet - but I have redesigned my town flag, my town tune and designed my own clothing ;D

Monica and you will have to agree on the furnishings of your home, but you will be able to wear different clothes :) and she'll be a girl and you can be a boy - or vice versa if that would make you happy

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 28, 2006, 09:12:32 PM
I'm not sure about that Mike. You can come and visit my town (when we are both online, but I can leave my DS plugged in and online over night if you wanted to pop by - but no cutting my trees down or putting rocks around my house so that I can't get in it!!!). I think the Town you create yourself is very special to you. But do come round for some coffee/fishing/fruit picking/museum vising/clothes designing/shopping anytime.

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: EmmasOneandOnly January 28, 2006, 09:14:02 PM
Aw, thanks ;D

You'll know my town, it'll be completely Harry Potter ;)

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 28, 2006, 09:17:59 PM
LOL yeah your town flag will be the lighning scar shape :D

Although you might have trouble rivalling Sara's.

My town is called Mt Doom ;D

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 29, 2006, 12:12:27 AM
And Orcses...

I don't know much about Sara's town yet - but I'll be popping by for tea soon so I'll send a report ;)

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: rns91294 January 29, 2006, 12:21:08 AM
My town is called Hogwarts  I am Hermione and Ryan is Harry. LOL.  Didn't think about changing the town flag to a lightning bolt!!! And my town song is a line from Blackbird by the Beatles....so it isn't all HP.  But we do plan to make the song like the HP theme when we get our hands on the sheet music so I know the right notes.

Roz, can you move rocks?

Mike, if you have a wireless network on your PC already, you don't have to buy the additional piece to attach to your DS.  But since I don't have that, Nintendo makes one you attach to the DS so you can have access like everyone else.  For $35, it will be worth it.  I ordered it yesterday and should have it soon.

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: rns91294 January 29, 2006, 12:34:11 AM
I think that all sounds perfect Mike!  When do you think you will be getting yours?

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 29, 2006, 05:09:47 PM
Fantastic news Mike - and I think Godric's Hollow is a great choice ;)

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: rns91294 January 30, 2006, 11:44:20 PM
Mike, did you get it?  I saw the Red one yesterday and thought of you.  I went and bought more screen protectors and more stylis's.  Mike, do you have a wireless router already, or do you need to buy the connector like me?  I am excited.  Soon, I will be visiting you all!!!

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: rns91294 January 30, 2006, 11:56:21 PM
So you would need to buy the WiFi connector from Nintendo? It is $35, plus $5 shipping, and tax depending on where you are from.  I know you needed to pay tax in NJ, but only certain states required it from them.

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 31, 2006, 12:16:35 AM
lol - do you wander about the house on your laptop surfing the web without being connected to anything?

That would be a hint!

Just ask your Mum if you have one set up.

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 31, 2006, 12:31:49 AM
Basically you would have a wireless ADSL router at the point that the phone plug is...  but (lol) we have it set up a bit more complicated than that because Mark uses Apple airport express so he can pipe his iTunes around the house ::)

Your other options are

1) Get a $35-40 USB dongle thingy that you plug into your computer and then within 10m of your computer (approx) you can play the game (the advantage of a home set up is that it has a larger range).

or

2) Sit on a bench outside your local gameshop and play there (you might get some funny looks though ;)) but a lot of game shops are connected to Ninto Wifi for demonstration and 'hotspot' purposes

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz January 31, 2006, 02:56:36 AM
Yep - that's the official name... doodle thingy... (or it should be ;))

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: rns91294 January 31, 2006, 04:04:38 AM
The doodle thingy is the thingy I am getting that plugs in to your DS, right?

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz February 02, 2006, 02:15:53 PM
Yep - that same doo dah, I think the real actual technical term really is "dongle" lol - what's the world coming to?

Do you know that the drivers that connect your scanner to your computer are called TWAIN drivers which stands for technology without an interesting name... I kid you not!

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing

Okay, EVERONE has to get a DS and buy this game!! Ryan and I wet to visit Roz and Mark's villages tonight, and I was in tears laughing!!!!  This is by far one of the greatest games I have ever owned!  I honestly think it is worth the money to buy the DS just for this game alone!  And it plays regular gameby games....so if you have a gamboy...this is a great upgrade ::)

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: MakTheYak February 25, 2006, 10:28:11 PM
Well at least it plays gameboy advance games... I don't think it does "classic" gameboy games. Although I don't know how many people still have those lying around!

I gotta say, AirPort express is actually a lot easier to set up than most wifi networks but by far the easiest option for the DS is the Nintendo official dongle - good choice.

Let us know when you get it all set up and we can all come visit your town. Practice your net-manship and we can duel!

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz February 25, 2006, 11:24:31 PM
Erm... Mark do you realise RNS is Sara?? :P?

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing

  He has to, I mentioned I went to visit your towns in my last post!!!!

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing

You'd think so wouldn't you Sara but ...

Let us know when you get it all set up and we can all come visit your town. Practice your net-manship and we can duel!

...makes me not so sure.

To be fair to poor Mark he's not very well - are you, Ryan and Mark going to get on Wifi today?

*is jealous*

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: rns91294 February 26, 2006, 12:11:19 AM
I don't know.  In about 4 hours we are leaving for an engagement party.  We are home all day tomorrow though.  I did try to go out today, but Mark's gates weren't open :(

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz February 27, 2006, 12:15:25 AM
Shocking - it's worth a PM today - did you see Joan? I did ;D I also sold my red turnip for 16,000 big ones. Is that normal? It's my first red turnip

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: rns91294 February 27, 2006, 01:08:46 AM
Its only 16,000 if you sell it on Saturday.  Less if you do it before.  And you can give it to the hungry walrus too when he comes during the week.

Yes, we saw Joan and got our turnips and are now fishing for the fishing tournament today!  I checked if Marks gates were open, but they weren't.  I will check again later.

I don't know if you guys are aware/interested but you can buy Animal Crossing action figures on ebay.  Just search "Animal Crossing".  There's a cute little carry bag as well!  How come we never get this stuff outside of Japan?

I just got this game Sunday and would love to see everyone else's towns.  You are welcome to come to mine (I have peaches) but I don't really have much.  I still don't have an axe so I can't plant any trees.  PM me for my friends code if you are interested.  I'm a little new to the wireless thing so go easy on me.

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: Roz October 08, 2006, 06:43:02 PM
I certainly do, it's quite a slow paced game but rather rewarding.

Yoshi's world should also be excellent ;D totally different ball game though!

: Re: Nintendo DS Animal Crossing
: pinksamstar October 08, 2006, 09:17:41 PM
