The picture has been copied from Richards at Card_vault.

They also have a Red Dwarf Auto, where they have copied the picture from one of my listings.

Also they don't accept paypal, only cheques so not much buyer protection.

I wouldn't buy this card to be honest. I wouldn't trust a seller like that.

A brand new seller with one of these?  I wouldn't buy it...

I remember a while back, someone who listed 18 hobby boxes from the first PoA set (and some rare LotR boxes too).  Each PoA one game with the PS2 game as well. I bid on some, and then read on this forum that the seller should not be trusted.  No feedback, no Paypal payments, etc....  Luckily, I bid low and was outbid on them.  I even asked a few others bidding on them what they thought, and they too either retracted or let themselves get outbid.  It was a good thing too.  Turns out they all ended, people apparently paid, and weeks later the negatives started to show up, and soon, they were no longer a registered user.  Ever since then, I don't buy from a seller unless they have good feedback, or some form of buyer protection.  I know everyone needs to start somewhere, but when it comes to paying bigger bucks, you have to be careful with who you are buying from.

I e-mailed the seller and asked if I could have a scan of the back of the card...I was hoping to be able to at least prove that he had it.

The seller e-mailed me back and told me he would be putting more scans of the card up tonight along with the option of payment by Paypal.

I don't know? I mean I need this card for the set....if he ends up accepting paypal then I am most definetly going to bid...paypal's protection policy is a really good thing in case he trys to rip me off.

I am going to keep checking the auction to see if he does what he said he would do

What do you guys think? If he puts up more pics and accepts Paypal is it worth it?

Bryan, just for the record, I requested further scans on the 22 January and have still not received them, despite asking twice more.  This is not to imply there is anything wrong with this auction, just stating a fact  :)

I also requested 3 times for more scans of the back of the card, first request he answered back within 10 minutes last 2 requests no answer...sure what a deal for the triple auto but I smell a rat >:D >:D..if it's too good to be true it is :'( :'(

I asked earlier this week too and he told me he was putting more pictures up, including one of him holding the card.  I am still waiting for those pictures.

Thank God this git isn't too clever...he was somewhat smart enough to steal the picture of the front of the card from Card Vault's listing, but really all he had to do is get the back picture in here, and scored some serious dosh..looks like this listing is for the collectors not in the loop..I could be wrong about this card and sale but would you take the chance??????? (:D#

well....u could ask him to prove that he has the card in hand by asking him to take a picture of the card again with a piece of paper highlighting your ebay username or anything to prove he has it. whether he will send it after the auction ended is another question though......... :(

but all in all, i won't bid coz its very risky.

Well, I have put in a high bid on this card....it isn't to high, but if I was to win, I would quote his e-mail that says he would accept Paypal, and I would also tell him I will send payment the second I recieve a picture other than the one on the listing, and explain to him how I know it is taken from another seller and that I want proof before I send out such a large amount to him...

I think that's reasonable.  If and when you do pay through PayPal, use your credit card to pay for it, just in case PayPal can't recover the full amount if there's a problem, you'll have your credit card company to fall back on to recover any monies PayPal couldn't recover.

Yep, that's right. There's this situation with paypal that if that fellow don't have any money in his current balance, then even if he's in the wrong, u won't be able to get a single cent!!!!  >:()

Be careful. Some credit cards won't cover you for overseas transactions.

I didn't know that. :-\  I had to file a claim with my credit card company when PayPal was only able to recover about 60% of the purchase price.  My credit card company was able to recover the missing difference, but the seller involved was from Canada and I'm in the US.

I read that on www.moneysavingexpert.com - so it's always good to check out your terms and conditions... either that or we all just use Anna's credit card from now on :rofl:

Well the Card sold for £215, which is about 1/3 of its value.

Only time will tell if it was a great buy, but I smell a Rat.

I did ask the seller if I could pick the card up in person and pay cash. I got an email about 1 hour before the end of the auction agreeing to this but I was out and missed the end. Hope it works out for the buyer.

Its true though...and this is what I am going through right now...a vacation...or a case of the GoF update?  But this and playing video games seem to be my only hobbies right now....fishing in the summer too.

As for this card, he agreed that you pick it up in person!  Shame you weren't home.  Maybe this will work out for the buyer, although, I never got the other pictures I asked for and wrote him again asking about them with no respOnse.  It will be interesting to watch the feedback on this one.  Won't we all be kicking ourselves if it was legit!!!

Still no feedback on this card  :( Looks as though I'd still be waiting there  :o

Just checked again.  No feedback from either party and the seller is now no longer registered with Ebay.

Well yes and no  :-\  In my heart of hearts I am sure there was something not right with all of this but there is a little niggling at the back of my mind that I could have got a triple.  A bit of lousy feedback would have made me feel so much better  >:D

I think you would have spent the money, but not received the card.  One negative shouldn't have been enough to get the seller kicked off eBay, especially for an inexpensive item.  I think the seller is no longer registered because he/she reneged on the triple auto and was removed from eBay before the triple auto buyer could leave feedback.

I am not very up on Ebay rules - could one complaint have gotten them kicked off Ebay? (ie if the Triple buyer hadn't received the card)

I know what you mean about this auction, but paying a couple hundred quid on something you aren't sure you're going to receive and the feedback rating taken into account too, is very risky! :-\
Leaving a scathing negative wouldn't have been enough for you if this seller had waltzed off with your cash would it - I think you'd be after his blood at the very least! :o ;)
I noticed the comments about their slow shipping too, which makes me wonder if they had ANY of the items they were selling in hand? I had the impression they sold something, got the money for it ... left it two maybe three weeks then when the buyer started asking where 'x' had got to, only then did they bother to find/buy the item and send it.
Now this is purely speculation on my point, but it does make you wonder doesn't it?

I think there's been quite a bit going on behind the scenes with this auction too re: ebay deregistering them and probaly Paypal getting involved.
There might even be something reported in the Press given the amount the card supposedly sold for - I know you don't see or hear of it very often but I think we all agreed there was some sort of scam/fraud going on, so it might get some coverage.

I feel sure there's a Triple out there which is meant for you to own Sharon, so don't lose hope yet! ;) ;D

I think it depends on the offense and the seller's feeback score.  The seller already had a negative because a buyer didn't receive an item.  Then if the buyer of the triple auto complained, too, that might have done it.

I logged complaints against a seller for three different items (bought at the same time from the seller's eBay store) that I didn't receive.  The seller would not respond to emails.  Nothing happened to him.  The amazing thing is that he currently has 164 negatives from 139 people over the last 12 months, but he also has 16,828 positives (with a total feedback score of 12,840).  I guess eBay doesn't give a damn about the 139 members who were ripped off by the seller over the past year. >:()

Unfortunately Cindy I think you are right.  If your seller is putting a lot of business (and money ) Ebay's way they seem to be willing to turn a blind eye.

If this was a fraud I would like to think it would get some publicity to warn others but quite frankly this is small fry compared to some of the dodgy dealings on Ebay.  I read about one lad who sold thousands of pounds worth of goods (none of which he had to sell).  He got caught and prosecuted but the tap on the wrist was so light he did it again as soon as he was out of court!  Someone, somewhere needs to start a regulatory body for places like Ebay, one that can deal with international problems and have some powers to force results.
