I know I posted a question about why the card companies don't do online redemptions (as I assume it would be cheaper, faster, and easier to fulfill as well as keep the customers informed, and of course avoid the collector having to deal with lost redemptions that are sent in).

I scanned an example of a online redemption card I pulled from an Upper Deck sports card product

So basically you go to the website (this would be a problem for Artbox sets :rofl: >:()) set up an account.  Then enter the code (you would of course have to scratch the area with the code much like a scratch lottery ticket).  You then will get an email acknowleging your online redemption is valid.  From there your redemptions are all in your redemption list and they have a notation regarding the status of the card.  For example the auto cards have not been returned from player, or the auto's are in stock and will be shipped shortly, etc.  You will also see when they have been sent out.

I can't imagine that you can patent online redemptions so no other company can use them?  If anyone has any thoughts I would be happy to hear them.  I am sure the biggest benefit would be for the overseas collectors.  It scares me enough to send them in from the US.

I agree I used the Upper Deck online redemptions also for My Yogi Berra and John Goodman redemptions and was able to track them and I got them fairly quickly. It works really well and I would hope down the road the other companies follow suit it would it easier to track the cards.

UD has been doing it for a while now, so I don't know why others are not.  Although for the most part UD sucks at actually shipping out redemptions in a timely fashion.  I have waited over 1 1/2 yrs before for a redemption to be filled.  The flip side is the redemption cards are usually good for 3 years or more.

I think the main reason I got mine fast was it was an older set and they were in house.
Those were the only ones I have sent so You know way more than I do about UD.
But so far so good. I was very happy with cards especially the Goodman ;D ;D

I wish INKWORKS would try this.  I get REALLY nervous everytime I have to send in a redemption card via the USPS :o=

Tell me about it!  I just sent in all 3 of my LOST redemptions today.  It cost nearly $10 with all the insurance, registered, etc.  And I'm still nervous about how they'll make it back to me.  Online would be wonderfull.

I suppose the other advantage to doing it this way is you already would have your redemption card in hand if you needed it for a master set and wouldn't have to worry about writing an address or in my case a legible address.
