I just received by Non Sport Update and do I have some good news for everyone!

According to the magazine...
""At the time, Mike Simon has just begun to anounce the autograph line-up including: Celemence Poesy (Fleur), Katie Leung (Cho), and Daniel Radcliffe himself. And the only two costumes anounced were a death eaters costume AND .... get this .... LORD VOLDEMORT!!!" he also PROMISES other "Top secret items which will be extremly rare"

Wow! That is ACTUALLY some good news coming out of Artbox for a change!

Excellent  ;D  That will be all four champions that have signed autos.  Now if we can just bug them to do all four house ties and a Daily Prophet.......  ;)

We need a DP and some more of the teachers costumes.  I would also like to see some Yule Ball costumes (don't care who's).  I think there willbe some really nice cards in this set.  Now, to determine how many to get.  I wish we knew the case number run, but I guess it still is too soon.  We should be happy to have any info at all at this point.

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but do you think they are releasing info so soon because they want people to get in a buying frenzy like POAU?  I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to find boxes/cases that I ordered 5 from one source the first day they were available for preorder.  Then the rumors of allocation started flying and I ordered 2 more from another source thinking I would be covered if I got shorted on my first order.  Then I upped my order another case (for 5 from one source and 3 from another). Then we heard about the Triple, and the three big auto's and the dual auto and I ordered 2 more cases.  So a grand total of 10 cases as I was freaking out that I would have to pay $1050 for a case like I did for my case of POA. 

Obviously my strategy backfired and that was a pretty big hole in the old bank account.  The worst part was all the info ahead of time we were given seemed to indicate that there would be 5 auto's per case and we all know that that didn't happen.  One of my cases didn't have any >:()

I only bring this up because I am sure everyone is going to be feeling the itch with this initial info.  I know I wasn't the only one who had this experience.  I sure hope we get a REALISTIC number on the amount of cases that they are going to make.  Although I think we were told it was going to be around 800 cases of POAU.  And that number kept going up but by that time I think most of us had already placed our preorders.  Well I guess only time will tell, but I hope no one has to experience that again.  I was so upset that I had spent all that money (I figured it was a safe investment of money and I would have spares worth something in trade or sale :'() and had a load of cards most of which weren't worth much.  As some will remember I was MIA from the board for a couple months, I almost gave up card collecting. 

I hope this never happens to anyone who loves collecting HP again.  For what it is worth just a buyer beware warning on GOFU.  Lastely IMO they will never do that (well to the magnitude of more than 2,000 cases) again, although I wouldn't be surprised to see 1000.

I agree I want to hear a confirmed number before committing to ordering. I know Julie would like the GOF Radcliffe to go with Her POAU One but We will See.

I don't think Artbox will make that mistake again.  Let's face it, we all were in a frenzy anticipating POAU because of what had happened with POA.  Artbox overproduced the set in order to meet demand.  We aren't faced with that situation for GOFU and probably never will be again for an HP set.

I think everyone would agree on that or they would never be able to sell another set again.  However I think we should also expect that it will be more than 600 cases GOF was.  The big question is what is the right amount and what is too much.  They can probably make 1000 and sell out, but that doesn't mean much.  We have learned that selling out from Artbox doesn't tell us much about demand for the product.

I hope it is no more than 800 then there should be enough out there that everyone can get what they want and cards will still have some value. 

I'm am absolutely certain that Artbox is well aware of the POAU fiasco and resulting collector's disapproval (well, perhaps that is saying it lightly).  But I think Artbox also realizes that Harry Potter is their only (currently) successful franchise license.  So essentially, the company is going to sink or swim based on the success of HP cards.  As such, I would expect that they would be VERY careful and cautious about how they market and produce the sets. 

That being said, Artbox is also a subsidiary company to two of Japan's largest corporations (one of which being the world's largest supplier of paper, so we know that the cardboard doesn't cost Artbox much  ;)).  This could certainly come into play in the fact that these company's are not in jeopardy if Artbox fails.  I mean this in comparison to an independent card manufacturing company that relies on success to be sustaining. 

This is not to say that Artbox has poor management, rather it could be a reason as to why they seem less than concerned in some fields (advanced marketing, website, customer response), but still produce a quality product.

If whomever is behind the scenes at Artbox has any sense for business, we will not see a problem with overproduction in the future.  But I do agree that we may see a gradual rise in case production (in the range of 700-900 cases).

The thing that worries me the most about all of this is that they have included Daniel Radcliffe in the signing (well to be honest, I'm more excited than I am worried).  I expect that we will see either A) a scarcity of these autographs (ala Ron Redemptions in GoF) or B) a higher production run (on a similar, but lesser scale, to that of POAU).  The fact alone that he will be signing cards will create a buzz enough to sellout as many cases as they produce (but I assume they would sellout either way).

I really do believe (and I apologize for meandering here, but I didn't want to make several posts) that Artbox must produce a GoF set with a great variety of cards.  They need to throw some things at us that we didn't expect or haven't seen.  That, for me, will determine the success of GoFU and my future interest in Artbox purchases.

We did have it quite hard. But not like the dealers did.

From what I have heard I am sure they have plans to flood the market this year, but in a slightly crafty way - by producing lots of sets, this will be an interesting time for us all, but our HP money will be more thinly spread than in previous years, and less of my card money will be going into Potter this year (Evolution, LOST season 2, possibly some Family Guy 2 and Star Trek 40th anniversary etc etc and that will take some away).

Whilst Dan signing is very exciting, at the end of the day, he's a repeat signer. It's time to really crack down on some of the biggies, Hagrid, McGonagal, and Snape to name but 3. Some may say that this is impossible, I say they just need to keep trying.

Yeah Roz tell me about it. I REALLY like the death eater idea when I first heard about it from the GOF set....then I heard that it was "material used in making" and I was as excited, then I heard there would be two cards that feature the same swatch of fabric, just a different picture and numbered differently, and it really lowered my excitment.

I have to say though, hearing about a TOTALLY NEW Death Eater costume card really is making me want to pre-purchase some cases!

I am actually really excited about Fleur and Cho signing though. After seeing the film (never read the books) those were the two I was most dissapointed NOT to see in GOF

Gotta say i love the HP items... although was burnt heavily with the POAU and Artbox are aware of this from all peoples....

POAU turned a tonne of people away from most series, including other releases such as Charlie.. they had troubles selling heaps at once, and relied on the biggies (from what i witnessed in Ebay) such as Tom, Kelly and a few others to take the bulk of order... If it wasnt for the bigger dealers supporting the companies and taking a "risk" on some lines the product wouldnt move....

Roz... When you get Lost 2 & Family Guy 2.. post pics, post pics.. i have just ordered some Family Guy 1 and hope to get a SETH AUTO  :o= or praying i should say  :o=

Not sure what to collect this year though, manufacturers are really getting to me with all these Series (concurrent to boot such as rittenhouse).. Will pursue no Artbox, will go for Family Guy 2, Lost 2, Battlestar Colonial, Battlestar Season 1, Star Trek 40th.... Roz, you know anything about inserts for Family Guy 2?

As someone who could never afford to buy a Radcliffe auto on the secondary market, I'm thrilled to have another chance at pulling one.  I'd also love to see a Peter Pettigrew auto.  We have the other Marauders and it would be nice if Timothy Spall signed, too.

I certainly can :) I'm not up to pre-ordering or anything yet though ;D we'll have to wait and see what's in it :) I'm not a huge fan, but I like sketches and Mark (MakTheYak - our webmaster) likes the show I think.

Touch wood, Art Box seem to be doing a bit better these days. A costume in every box (as far as I know) for GOF was good. Do you think they have actually been listening to us ???

Money is the only thing that talks in the business world.  I think we are wrong if we think that all (although I think some do) the manufacturers actually care about what the collector thinks or feels.  Now some of the big distributors can have some influence in the final product and print run, but I think they also want to maximize the money that comes in and if that means squezzing out a couple hundred extra cases (and likely POing a few people) that is a risk most are willing to take. 

I personally would rather have 5 props per case if I had to sacrifice getting a costume per box I would.  I personally like the props better and would like to have a better chance to pull one.  I really would rather pull a prop #'d to 250 than have less props per case with lower #'s on each that with my track record I will never pull.

If you mean getting five props and five costumes per case, that's fine with me.  I prefer props, too.  As long as there are no dud boxes, though, I will be happy.

I agree with all what has all been posted , but my turnoff with this new annoucement is I'd rather see more auto's of actors that haven't signed..as a collector of all HP I really don't need a 3rd Radcliffe auto or 3 Watsons, and Grints for that matter..I'm leaning towards Roz's thinking and would be a hell alot more excited if a Maggie Smith was in it.....GOF was somewhat of a turnoff not because of the props/or costumes but the signers in most parts were crap....2 of the actors (signers) where on screen for not more than 20 seconds...Where you have had actors with some major parts in all 4 movies not to be found...how many more Warwick Davis cards are they going to bloody release...I have 5 now

I agree, I only saw Cho twice and I think she had about 5 minutes of screen time and Fleur had 5 minutes longer screen time ::) I'd really love a Professor Snape auto because I think Alan has done a great job with that character. I'd really like to see a Maggie as well.

yea do the math if he signs again in GOFU this would be a third time,also with the multi auto's of some actors it really cheapens the investment aspect of the cards....I doubt very much if Radcliffe signs this time or even for the COS that his card will be reselling at $700-$900 as they did in the past..just look at the Gary Oldman card this time and the prices, and he was a limited card

You confused me a bit there, I guess you are counting twice for PoAU as there are 2 different cards - Gotcha ;D

Alan Rickman is just the PERFECT Snape. He never delivers a line in a way that is in the slightest bit predictable or expected. He's definitely a man on the fence... is he good? Is he bad? Only the 7th book will tell. (I'm leaning towards Good Cop at the moment).

If not an auto, then a Snape costume is really a MUST for one of the new sets.

Snape has some good scenes in COS, so my bet is that there will be a Snape costume (black swatch, yet again) and maybe an auto in the COS set.  I wouldn't be surprised to see a Draco auto for COS, either.

I always wonder how much the people doing the sets really know about HP?  I am sure you have some that are knowledgable, but some probably don't know Harry from Hermione :-\.  Do they really think like a collector thinks?  I think every time a set comes out we are happy with this or that card and disappointed that this or that card wasn't in it.

If you take the GOF props I doubt they actually look for them in the movie, that is really what we do as collectors, but most folks wouldn't.  I don't know just a thought for discussion.  I bet they get more info and ideas from this board than anywhere else.

As collectors, we obsess over the little details and I'm not sure the manufacturer cares about that as much as we do.  For instance, there's the POAU Lupin shirt.  Artbox told me that the black variation was his "jacket."  I asked whether they meant his suit jacket/blazer or the robe he wears over it.  The production department didn't know.  It's things like that that drive me crazy.

Maybe when they remake all the movies in 20 years and make another trading card set for each I'll get a job there and help them out for us ;) :rofl:

I will say I think Inkworks and RA get the collectors frame of mind. On the other hand I am not so sure about Artbox and I really am sure Topps could care less what we think as collectors. 

Its the details that really show when a company thinks from the collectors perspective. For example in the Lost set they actually even list on the back of the PW cards which episode the costume came from.  How great is that.  I really wouldn't have thought much of it if they didn't include that, but I think it says a lot that they did.

I really think we can expect props where we have to hunt them because if there are very rare props in this set then they didn't make a bunch to use over and over so maybe will get props that don't even appear in the movie. I cant remember any of the props they could possible use ::)

How about the Daily Prophet, letter from Sirius, the golden egg, some of the tiles from castle's roof when Harry was chased by the Horntail (provided they weren't all CGI), dragon skin/scales, gillyweed, leaves from the maze, and the slips of paper students used to enter the Triward Tournament?

What leaves from the maze ??? the maze wasn't made of leaves, it look like a rugged bush type plant. I'd like a Daily Prophet, the one Harry threw into the fire (and missed :rofl:). A roof tile...nah. I wouldn't want one of those. The golden egg would probably be #ed out of 10 or something ::) I wouldn't want Gillyweed and I doubt anymore of that is left after 8 months. slips of paper wouldn't be bad. I'm dying for a Dragon Scale!!

Well, leaves or some sort of plant material -- same thing. :)  The movie's prop department probably has the gillyweed, although it did end up in Daniel's mouth. :P  Of course, that could be a selling point for some people. ::)

And we mustn't forget the Twins beards - I want that prop card soooo badly  ;D

I believe that if the manufacturers care about our thoughts so little they are being very, very silly.  It only takes a small thing to keep us happy, like spotting your bit of table cloth in the divination classroom.  I am actually one of those that does believe Artbox reads this site (and others) and changes things where they can - the collation problem being a case in point.  I am certainly no great fan of Artbox (still no reply to my Email  >:() ) but I reckon that as long as suggestions are made that they can take up, at no great financial cost to them, they will change things for the better.

I have to say I am not keen on another broomstick / wand prop.  They are so rotten hard to store.

Artbox listened to those complaints, too.  SS had very thick cards, but most of the ones for GOF could fit in screwdowns.  In fact, I put most of my GOF inserts in 9-pocket pages.

Absolutely, this is why I do think Artbox do listen to some of the things we ask for.  By producing most of the cards in the same thickness the collectors were happy and I would imagine they were easier to manufacture. 

I am still loads of GOF missing but all the ones I have are also in normal pockets.  The one card that really bugs me is a wand card from SS.  It is absolutely gorgeous but it is just siting in a little box because it can't fit in the binder!

I hope they do film cells again for the update, I think they are really nice.  I would also like to see dual costume cards for all of the champions and possibly Hagrid / Madam Maxine  ;D

I'm just worried that by letting word about Daniel Radcliffe signing out now they are hoping to produce another big print run maybe not like Azkaban update >:() but maybe 2-3 times as much as the first GOF set.

Rich I totally agree with you on that concern, I think I had mentioned before, but why tell us the Daniel is going to sign so early?  They have always kept it a big secret who the big auto's are going to be.  Well at least I can't remember ever knowing until it was down to the wire who the big signer or signers were.  Heck look at GOF, we weren't even sure Ron was in the set until we could find an auction for one. 

Also even with Harry being in the set we should assume that it will be 100 or less again.  So the more cases the harder this card gets to pull.  And we saw how hard Ron was in GOF, I think we only had to YSer's pull the Ron ;)

maybe just maybe although harry is a big signer maybe hagrid or mcgonagall or someone else new is signing tooo

I would say we should get at least another really nice signer in the set, at least based on previous sets we have always had at least a couple top notch signers.

I bet they are telling us early just because we constantly complain they never give us enough info.  Maybe they finally realized that we want info before we diecde to order.

Or, maybe they want to hype the set to sell as many cases as they did for POAU. :-\

I think we all would be in agreement that they won't make that many cases again.  However, how many is too many?   That is the magic question.  I don't think there are as many HP collectors as there was when POAU was coming out.  I think many people abandoned their collecting of HP after that.  Some of you probably know that to be true.

I think 800-1000 cases would sell out no problem (after all even POAU sold out from Artbox), the issue to me is then your spares become worthless in trade or sale.  The market just gets way to flooded.  Of course the Dan auto will be fairly expensive regardless.  To be honest I really don't know what I would do if I pulled a Dan auto?  Would I keep it?  The big ?  And Artbox always says there are very limited cards just like they did with GOF. 

I thought they were cool, but not as nice as part of the Stone, and I know some of us were really disappointed with the props.  Basically limited doesn't = good or impressive from a collectors perspective.

I agree with you Dave.  I would love to get my hands on a SS prop for a good price.....but the ones in GoF just weren't as interesting.  I like the Quidditch program for the variaty of the swatches, and because it at least deals with the Quidditch World Cup, something I like a lot, so to me, that was the best prop from the set, but none of them really had a lot to do with the movie, whereas the SS was the title of the movie......I think past incentive cards were better as well.  The Platform ticket, the Whomping Willow.... versus the trophy in GoF that we saw for 2 seconds in the movie (hope you didn't blink). Although, you didn't see the Platform ticket long, but it is the entrance to the train, and I think that is a big part of these movies as well.

I think they shoudl only habe 800 cases at the most, but nothing more than that.

I think beckham1 said that there are sports cards with 4 autos on one card... I can't remember if there were quad cards with autos and costumes though.

I've sent emails to Artbox and the seller.  Maybe someone can shed a bit more light on this.

It could mean many things. There are sports cards that have two material pieces, and two autographs on EACH side of the card making it 4 bats/jerseys ect and 4 autographs.

If this is true, this could mean the following:

Quad (4) autographs on one card
Quad (4) Costumes on one card
or
2 Costumes, and 2 Autographs on one card.

There are sports cards that contain 13 (I think that is the most) Jersey pieces, and I have seen autograph cards with 4 autographs on each side. I own a Football card with the top 6 Football draft picks signed 3 on each side for the 05-06 season. Either way, no matter what it means, any potter set that includes the word Quad is getting me all for it lol

As Brian had mentioned quad "materials" cards are becoming fairly regular in higher $ sports card products and multiple auto cards are fairly regular also.  You were right Jo I had mentioned a quad auto before in the sports card section here is the image again:

I really like this card as the top left is from the hat (probably the fitted hat size)  Top right is from his baseball glove, bottom left is from his Shoe and bottom right is from the either the laundry tag or is the maker of jersey (majesty) lettering.

I would have to think it has to be a champions quad costume, but that is just me.  Hope some of these pics help to envision it, I am sure some have seen quads before, but for those who haven't I hope this helps your imagination roam.

I don't know why they would post a picture of the GOF sell sheet if I am reading that right.

I'm sure someone has mentioned these poster cards on here before - I don't know if it was Roz or who it was but I'm sure they've been spoken of before now.

Her info was that there would be five costume cards.  The auction states there are four coin cards.  They may or may not be the same set.  Either way, I think I'll pass on it so I can get get a few GOFU boxes.

Well, the cats out of the bag!! Both the Quad card and the factory set have been confirmed as ideas but they are not exactly 'done deals' yet - and preordering 2 months in advance TAKES YOU OUT OF SAFE TERRITORY WITH EBAY AND PAYPAL!

I wouldn't recommend buying these yet!

It looks like we'll be seeing a lot of factory sets this year (7??).

The trunk set was supposed to be released in late March.  There might not be a set with five costumes -- that might have been changed to the four coin cards.

I think I would still be interested in the set.....

Hey Guys have You heard this. I guess rumor has it there will be 700 cases of GOF update. On top of that there is something called a premium case. There are 250 cases of this that You have to buy a certain number of regular cases to be able to buy and the cases will have dual,triple and quad autograph cards.
The regular set I heard Emma Watson is signing again so if so There You go Mike.
Has anyone else heard about this??????????? ??? ???

If this is true -- Why, why, why can't Artbox take some of the best cards and insert them into packs so regular collectors have a shot at pulling them?  This maybe be great news for dealers, but terrible for everyone else.  I absolutely hate how Artbox advertises great cards, only to find out that they're case incentives.  I just knew the quad card would fall in some nearly impossible-to-get category. :-X

quad card will be in the update and in the packs.quad card will blow you away. not at liberty to say what it is at this time.on cases youre numbers are off. no final print run has been set yet.

I look forward to seeing what the quad card will look like as well :) That stinks about the premuim cases though - for dealers its great, but for the majority of collectors who can't afford multiple cases, how on earth will they manage a shot at the good cards? Is that fair, really?

Hopefully they will insert some of those goodies into the regular cases as well... even if they were scarcer than in the premium cases, it would be much fairer. Doing another split (premium hobby/hobby/retail) is not the wisest thing that Artbox has done, I think many small time collectors will be turned off if all the desirable cards are in a fraction of the entire print run.

Fingers crossed that this is all a big mistake and Artbox realises this soon!

We won't know how difficult a pull this will be until we learn the print run.  It stands to reason that this will be one of the rare cards, but don't give up hope before the set is released! :)

I am sure this will be a rare card, but let us all remember that the dual costume from PoAU, when first announced, we thought would be really hard to get as well.  Even though it was a large set, I think we were all shocked to hear it was not one of the lowest numbered cards.....  With that said, I still think the Quad is gling to be VERY rare, more on the lines of the triple auto...

£50 a box is a lot to be asking on pre-sell. I have to say that I like the look of the Goblet set but lets just hope they don't do anything silly like with Prizoner Update If anything an Update set should be smaller in the number of boxes or the same cause lets be honest how many people are going to buy an update base set if they ain't got the original.

Well my opinion is that someone has ordered 25 cases for the incentives and is trying to get the other 20 cases they don't want pre ordered off.

Quite a good idea but a little overpriced even for here in the UK where prices are much more expensive although with what i have seen I would think the box price will eventually be high if the product lives up to the hype. All we need to hear now is the print run figures just to make me a little happier

So I just went back to the original GOF thread to see when we started getting flyers and info about the set and it was about a month before the release! That means we should be starting to see things pop up here pretty soon! :o=

Really? I thought that was the original release date but that it had been delayed? Then again there's been no official annoucement of either the release date or a delay

I think I'll take any release date stated with a grain of salt for the time being, at least until I see a second sale sheet come out (once that second one comes out, it seems to be shortly after that the set itself comes out, though I could be wrong or hallucinating on that particular point; ya' never know).

Hopefully when they see this post .. *waves enthusiastically to Mike and Kay!*... then they'll do something about it. I hate to be critical and I know they're VERY busy, but they're not doing the company any favours by leaving it to get to it's current state when it's compared to other card manufacturers.

I thought the release date had been pushed back by a couple of weeks to early May ... guess we'll know for sure when we start hearing reports of people like Tom, Julio, Ed and the other distributors/dealers asking for their payments for the pre-orders. ;)

In the new previews - Artbox Announces their First quotable set of harry potter cards. All of the magical memories from all four movies, This set will come packed in special made box, lavishly displing an image from the harry potter films.

It's unacceptable that the autos aren't yet available, but really, who's fault is that?  Miranda Richardson.  All she has to do is sit down for an hour and sign the damn cards, then pop them in the mail.

If you look on IMDB she is very busy.

& probably doesn't think signing her cards should be that high on her todo list. But when she agreed to sign for the set she should have done then straight away.

Though it is probably none of my business, I have often wondered if/how these signers are compensated.

I can only assume that the card companies take one of two paths
1) They offer the actor/actress a reasonable sum of money and fill out a direct contract between the two parties (signer and card company)
2) Signing rights are obtained between the film company (Warner Bros in this case) and the card company.  Then the actor/actress must sign the cards as a sort of contractual obligation.  In this way the two parties would be the film company and the card company.  

I don't know if I was able to word that exactly right, but hopefully you get the basis of my question.


I think that regardless of contractual obligations, actors/actresses have an external obligation to the fans that support them.  So in these cases, when a signer (Miranda Richardson for example) does not fulfill her obligation to take the time to sign these cards, who is she letting down more?  The CARD company, to whom she owes a direct service and is not fulfilling the task of her contract.  OR   The FANS, to whom she owes an indirect service as a public figure.  Or is it both?

Just something to ponder while everyone patiently awaits their Miranda redemption autos  >:D

I believe that card companies have to negotiate with each actor.  The actors have an obligation to both the card company and the fans to sign the cards, per the contract.

I think it is ridiculous she can't take an hour out of her day to sign a couple hundred cards.
I'm sick of a redemption card sitting among the rest of my autographs

She is slowly becoming worse than Lara Flynn Boyle in the Men In Black 2 set...it took her a year to get her signature cards back, and she ended up signing not only the signature cards they sent her, but each of the 90 card base set  :P and Inkworks actually sent those out to people who has redemptions! (I was one of them, and you cannot even begin to beleive how angry I was)

There was enough Auto cards produced for her to sign and enough redeption cards for her. She just decided to sign the base cards and not the ones Inkworks made for her!

I can't imagine what a terrible feeling that must be as a collector to anticipate a redemption for soooo long and then get such a slap in the face.  Seriously, how bad would it be to expect a redemption auto and then recieve Laura Flynn Boyle's auto on a base card with an image of Will Smith, etc.  You would think that Inkworks would have immediately recognized this and done something to make it up to the collectors.  They obviously received the "redemptions" and decided to mail them out.  I guess they were correct in assuming that sending LFB more blank auto cards would not be the most efficient way to solve the problem.  But did they at least include an apology to you, the collector?

So that begs the question, do these signers recieve any sort of monetary penalty for not meeting the time contraints of a contract?

I never received an official autograph card in place of the autographed base card, however I did e-mail inkworks about it when I received it (this was years ago mind you) and they e-mailed me back that same day with an apoligy and an official statement about what happened.

Inkworks in a great company, and truthfully, I think that is the ONLY hiccup I have ever seen of them.

That stinks. I never got one of those. And I sold my "variant" one because I thought it sucked lol.
Oh well, like I said, it was about 4 years ago (? roughly) so I could care less.

Okay, so, we've seven days until the end of the month, all I've heard is that the set is still coming out the end of April, but mum's the word from Artbox, and no emails from the dealer asking for his money (that last bit sounds so bad, but oddly enough, it's an apt comparison to this addicitive hobby of ours). Artbox does have a history of delays.  Maybe the dealers would rather list a later ship date, knowing that no one will complain if the set ends up shipping earlier than that date.

Could be that they have received conflicting reports from Artbox, so for good measure, they listed a later date, like you said.

This might seem really idiotic, but the whole idea that they could still go out on time has totally made my week!  :D

If there is even the slightest chance of them going out on time, I'll be the happiest card slinger in the corral; however, the lack of certain things, such as the ever present second sell sheet and solid word from realible dealers (tomunique, etc) on a release date have me reaching for the salt and taking a pinch whenever I hear talk of them possibly getting this set (or any set for that matter) out on time.  :-\

Dont want to rain on anyone's parade but I wish the release had changed tot he end of May. Only reason being i've had some unexpected financial problems this month and so far can only afford 1 of my 2 cases.  :'( Still, if worse comes to worse I'll just have to cut down to maybe 1 case and some boxes. Either way Im just going to be happy getting any cards at all.  :rofl:

I am praying for a GoFU release in 5 weeks - I shall have quite a bit of time on my hands then - yippee! :D

I want my GOFU boxes now but i'm hoping MM gets, at least, a 3-month delay. And, is it just me or the sets are getting a bit more expensive? I wasn't here for the POA/POAU release so i don't know if the boxes went for the same price as GOFU during preorders, so, is this normal? How much do you expect GOFU boxes to go for at eBay, say, 2-3 months after release? What about MM, to pre-order or not to pre-order, do you think boxes will go for way too much after release :-\? I think MM looks amazing and even the box looks great but if Artbox releases that in a month I'm doomed and so are my credit card bills  :-X :-X :o=

I think that we are all secretly hoping for a domino effect delay of about a month for MM and COS. And that's not even counting the Poster SEt and The WOZ from Breygent that is out/due out. I know that I am. With only 375 allocated cases of MM it could become verrrry interrrresting price wise!

No PoAU was pretty much the same price as GoFU, it's just postal prices that have really changed as far as I can remember.

Here in the UK things were very different, the PoAU cases were astronomically priced... which is why a lot of people tried 'grey importing' ::)

At this point I just wish that Artbox would release a final date for release so we knew where we were and was able to plan better and I could at least give an estimated delivery date to my pre order customers

It's being reported on another forum that the set will be shipped the third or fourth week of May due to a delay in production.

 " Artbox sent a memo to their distributors today stating that due to production issues Goblet of Fire Update was being pushed back until the 3rd or 4th week of May. "

 whether this is actual or not I have no idea but thougt I'd pass it along ...

 If so then I hope the Moments set will also be pushed back so they don't have close release dates ....

I don't see how GOFU could ship at the end of May and then MM still ship in mid-June.

It's official :P, well about as "official" as it gets from Artbox. I just hope that MM is pushed back too (no news on that yet), partly because it usually takes about 2-3 weeks for people to get their boxes, if MM is released before people get their GOFU it would be madness... it might even kill GOFU

I think that the Daniel and other champions autos will keep GOFU alive.

Yep, I even actually think the GOFU will do even better than GOF due to the fantastic lineup of autographers and especially with several new costume cards!!! That was the reason why I went ahead and ordered 2 cases

Goblet was a great set. it really was. It was the first time Artbox REALLY got their S**T together lol

But I think this set, staying pretty low in case numbers, will blow GOF out of the water. The costumes are better, the props are better (I still complain that although there were some great variants and all, out of all of the GOF props, the ONLY one that is recongizable is the Dragon Selection Bag...all of the other prop cards are basicly background set decoration!) and the autograph line up is in my opinion better.

I just cannot wait! lol

You notice that they didn't quintuple the cases made like they did with POA and POAU. Smart move there.

Might be getting closer to shipping out...Potomac has backed up it's ship date from May 31st to May 30th.  I know it doesn't seem like that big a deal, but for someone like me, sitting on pins and needles, one day is a vast improvement.  :D.  Plus, it at least shows SOME glimmer of activity.  ::)

The dealer from whom I bought my boxes said that his cases shipped on Tuesday. :D

Greg from Potomac informed me yesterday that cases will be shipped from Artbox to them this week and in turn be shipped out to us next week, including me!!!!!  :D

 Just got an email from Artbox that my 2 cases with be delivered  on Tuesday  !!!

  they also said a set checklist will be available next week as well ....

Ha I was thinking the same thing Cindy :rofl:  Basically the checklist will be available in your boxes as the last card in the set.  Then you will no doubt have to keep checking the Yak Shack for a list of inserts and # of the run as well as Jeff Allenders best mathematical guess of auto #'s. 

Speaking of which (and I'll post this again Monday), I would greatly appreciate it if the first box openers next week would send me PMs with the card titles (on the back) and print runs.  Then I can update the first post in the breakdowns thread with correct info and Roz can add the cards to the price guide. :)

UPS Ground? 3 days max. And I'm going off of when I received GOF! If I remember, my order was shipped with the Midwest phase of orders for GOF. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!  :o=

Then they should have been shipped Wednesday with delivery on Monday.  Woo hoo!  You might want to check with Artbox about a tracking number.

 I had ordered 2 boxes thru Tom and he had them drop-shipped to me from Artbox and it's the 1st time I've had that done so I e-mailed them Wed. asking if they had been shipped and if they had a tracking number and they emailed me back with the info today ...
  I'm in NY State so we get the "snail UPS delivery" of 1 week -- my cases were shipped Tues...

 I don't know how they do it --- if you were 4 day delivery time away would they wait a couple days to ship those so most people in the US get them the same time ??  I don't know ...

 As far as the set checklist --- all they said was that it would be available next week ---- knowing Artbox I doubt on their website  but I've found out there pretty good about replying to e-mails so maybe some of us can email them Mon or Tues and see if they've got it ready ....
 
 And as far as case/box openings  I'm planning on reporting the case breaks box by box and then  scanning  the cards and try to get them up here on the message board ......
  probably the worst thing is that that should be in the 4-8 pm EST time so all you UK folks will have to stay up late !!  LOL
  so I'll do my best to get the info out ASAP ...

I used to collect basketball cards and when the companies like Upper Deck said cards came out in July they came out in July....I am new to this postponing of card releases  like Artbox does...It is very frustrating, Especially when you pay for your cases up front!! >:()

You should call them and tell them some sob story like it is my kids birthday today and that is was a costly present so that was the only thing you got them.  The shipper told you it would be there a couple of weeks ahead of time but they had problems and didn't get it out until a few days ago.

Oh, I'm so sorry about your dental appointment...I hope it gets over with quick!  :o= It must be dental day in the Yak Shack--I have to go to the dentist on Tuesday as well, and I am not looking forward to it. Ewww I just hate sitting there with my mouth wide open at the mercy of someone with picky things and drills and mirrors--it's such a compromising, completely powerless position.  I just dread it.

Let's look on the bright side--afterwards we can look forward to seeing pics, bidding on  :ebay:, and getting our own boxes.  ;D Maybe it even means we'll get some really good cards!  Sorry about the Pollyanna vibe--I tend to do that.  ::).

Boy John, I hope you get your cases Monday too.  The thing I hate about UPS is I have tracked items that were sitting 60 miles away from me as they must have been flown over from the East Coast and sat at the UPS station for 2 or 3 days and were finally delivered on the 5th day ::)  That seems to be a difference between UPS and Fed Ex, Fed Ex seems to get it to you asap.  UPS tends to be always make sure they meet delivery requirements, but not be early.

Well, I have insomnia (too busy fretting over my stupid dentist appointment this week.).  ::)   :P 

Can't wait to start seeing some cards!  :D

Currently very gutted, just got off the phone asking for clarification on delivery and they are expecting the cards to be in hand this week so GImli you are right looks like next week  :'( . I will probably have my American cases first as they are in hand now.
