So, I got this question earlier today, and I must say it was the easiest question I've had to answer in a long while :)

"Could you tell me if the Battlestar Galactica Costume Cards are actually made from show worn costumes? I would also be interested in knowing if the Stargate and Stargate Atlantis Costume Cards are also show worn costumes? I was told that sometimes they are made from bolts of similar cloth, does this happen?"

Now, here's why it was easy to answer. 1) We would never go to a fabric store and buy a bolt of similar cloth just to make a costume card - that's way too much work ;) But even easier- we have photos of the costumes for both Battlestar and Stargate up on the website - but apparantly they missed the REALLY BIG PHOTOS :)

http://www.scifihobby.com/products/displaysetdetails.cfm?SetID=130 for the Battlestar
and
http://www.scifihobby.com/products/displaysetdetails.cfm?SetID=132 for the Stargate

and just for kicks :)
http://www.scifihobby.com/products/displaysetdetails.cfm?SetID=131 for the picture of the Halle Berry dress used in the Bond set - the other card was produced a while ago and we didn't think to take a pic of it at the time :)

So, now you know - hard evidence that I am not shopping at the fabric store for costume material   like I'd even know where the fabric store was - I cannot sew a stitch!

You know it's got to be because Topps memorabilia cards say "This card contains genuine material used for the creation of" and there's no telling if the material was show-worn or not.

I LOVE that Rittenhouse & Inkworks show pictures of the costumes before they're cut up!

The model wearing the Battlestar "Boomer's Triad Uniform" doesn't look too thrilled!

I love it that Rittenhouse puts the pictures of the Costumes/Relics up before they sale them because it gets me more excited about the cards. It also lets me know what cards I really want for my collection  ;)

Stargate season 8's pics of the clothing and relics have me even more excited for the set to come out. They also gave me a glimpse of the first Jonas card I actually want to get for my collection  ;D

Just curious why someone is modeling them?  I like to think (even though it may not be the case) that they have only been worn by the actor, but I really don't care that much.  I would rather have a pic of the costume than being picky about someone modeling them.

Those items were purchased at auction. You'd have to ask the auction house why they chose to have them modeled :)

Since they are items of clothing, I imagine that them being cut up and placed on trading cards may not have entered their minds, since most clothing is worn by people and not cards.

Goodness me. Where did this warped view of the world come from?

I always look forward to seeing the costumes and props Rittenhouse brings to the card shows prior to being cut up.  It is neat to see them in person.  I assume I will be seeing more this April.  I can't wait.

That makes a lot more sense, I thought that RA had someone put them on for the photo's which I was thinking was kind of strange.

Yah - no. There's not enough money in the world to make me put on a costume and have someone take a picture of me and actually post it where people would see. Especially since most of these actresses have negative sizes and I've not been that small since I was 10 *lol*

Well I wouldn't say those costumes even look good on that guy.  I guess I must have been the only one who thought it was RA who had someone model them.  I wonder why the auction house would have done that.  After all anyone who is going to bid on those items knows where they came from and is familiar with the show.  They (auction house) would have been better off putting pics from the show showing the costume being worn, oh well.

Don't worry, you were by no means alone on that thought.  The first thing that ran through my head when I saw the pictures was, "Why would RA have some puny kids modeling in those costumes?  Why not use pictures from the show?  It would look a lot better if they just put the costumes on a hanger."  But I guess it is understandable if an auction house was responsible.  I would assume that the auction house doesn't include such ravenously critical fans as us bunch .

We have not lost our collective minds over there. The photos on the Stargate page :

are the ones we took ourselves - you can clearly see the hangers in the costume photos ;)

   HAHA, so you can!! You guys really do have it all together.  I do prefer the hangers to random people.
