I went to my local Rhino store yesterday planning to buy Kingdom Hearts.  When they didn't have it, the sales guy recommended Golden Sun.  He said it was the best RPG he's ever played on Gameboy advance.  Since I had a coupon, I got it for $5 used!  I haven't had time to sit down and start it yet, but I was just wondering if anyone has played it.

Yes it is one of the best rpg`s on the gameboy.i have played it 4- 5 time completely thought each   time ,i loved it.
the second game is not as good but still worth playing....
one piece of advice do not rush though the game, take your time, you will need all the exprience points you can get..

It is by far the best game on Gameboy. #2 is almost as good. I have played them through a few times. If I remember right it takes 15+ hours to do if you do all of the sidequests.

That's good to hear.  I played a little bit this afternoon and I really like it so far.  It didn't come with an instruction book, so I'm still trying to figure out what everything is for.  I'm up to squire and so far it hasn't been hard to beat those little mushroom/bat/slime thingys.  I ordered a hint book off Amazon just now, but I'll probably play throught he whole thing and then go back a second time to get everthing I missed first time around.  It sort of tricked my near the beginning with the pink and blue guys.  I got kind of ticked off when they knocked me out.  I thought I was dead! ::)  Thanks to the both of you!

Ahh Golden Sun. Brilliant games, both Roz and I agree! The first game took me about 20 hours to get through, but beware the second... it took me 50 hours to finish with all the extra bits! The second is just as good as the first, and whats more it's a direct continuation of the first - the story cuts short and it says to be continued - really frustrating if you played the first before the second came out!!

You put in a code which lets you take all your stats and items across to the second game, which is very clever but for this reason it's important to do your best in the first game so your life is easier in the second! In particular watch out for the Djinn - you must "catch them all" or you will never be able to get all of the summons (and believe me the best ones that require all Djinn are something to behold, not to mention useful in battle).

The biggest hint I can offer is if you encounter a Djinn in the wild (ie while walking about on the map, instead of when you can actually see it before battling it) and you don't manage to catch it you have to switch off without saving. This is because these ones only appear once and if you blow it then you've blown it and you'll never get them all.

Yes, it's very important to get the Djinn and not to miss one, your help book from Amazon will give you a good head start on where you might encounter these creatures.

Wow, what an awesome game, you make me want to pick it up again. I think I spent about 30 hours on the first one but at least 10 of those were looking for a sword that never appeared. It didn't matter as game 2 had a better sword in the end anyway ::)

For Golden Sun I have 21-25 hours, for Golden Sun 2 I have around 40+ hours on my current game. Those are with collecting all of the Djinn and sidequests. It is a good idea to get all of the experience you can. The ending on the first was very annoying. I did not expect it and then I couldn't wait for the 2nd one to come out. Reading this I might have to start a new game now. :P

I just got my game guide and instead of Golden Sun, they sent Golden Sun 2!  >:()

BTW, I was going to buy a Lemony Snickets game guide, but where it lists platform, the GBA isn't listed.  Can I still use that guide or is the game different on GBA?

The only Golden Sun guide I have seen since it came out is in a colection called Nintendo Power Advance, volume 3. The isbn is: 1-930206-20-8, and upc 0 45496 69207 0. I really like the guide for it.
