Well King Kong opens today here in the United States.  Please post your thoughts and comments when you see the movie.  I will not be able to see it until at least the weekend.  The trailer looks outstanding.   :)  I think Peter Jackson is going to have another hit on his hands!

I liked the movie, Peter Jackson did a very good job again. :) Really exciting to see what's all possible with CGI and so on.

I was a little bit surprised that there are scenes in the trailer which doesn't appear in the movie.  ::) But everybody who likes films with big monsters should take a look.  ;D

I  went to the 9:30pm session last night in Gold Class and I have to say it is amazing. I promised myself I wouldnt cry but of course I did.  Jack Black I was a little uncertain about at the beginning but as the movie went along I thought he was perfect for the role of Carl Denham. Adrien Brody was also rather good as Jack Driscoll and Naomi Watts was damn near perfect for the role of Anne Darrow.
 
Once again i still dont understand people saying its not up there with LOTR (which Ive read in alot of reviews) Im just judging it on its own premises as a film because there is really no point in comparing such an epic, ie 3 films to one.
So everyone go out and see this film, its brill!  ;D

Simply amazing movie. I first saw it on Tuesday morning at a crew screening. I knew how long it was but couldn't believe it when the movie was over--seemed so soon! Saw it again at midnight at the Embassy and loved it. Acting is good, with Naomi and Andy being excellent. Special effects were pretty much perfect. Spider pit scene...ewww. I was crying at several parts before the end and was a mess at the end. PJ has done it once again. It's movie making at the best--the passion is evident. I am so glad he got to make this movie and cannot wait to see it again  :D

choice of Luthien, I agree completely with your opinion. Some of the film just had me a total wreck such as the scene in central park and the ESB scene.  :'(

You know someone has done a good job when they can make you cry for a giant gorilla.

OMG. I absolutely love that scene in central park. Pure brillance, especially since you know what is coming. And of course the ESB scene has me in major tears.
I knew PJ and Andy would make us love Kong, but what a feat! I cannot wait for viewing #3.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. PJ is a master and a genius. Can't say much else really.

Fantastic acting from a perfectly cast actor ensemble. Is there a limit to the vocal talents of Andy Serkis?

An interesting note... for those of you who have seen 'The Pianist' in which Adrien Brody (Jack) received a Best Actor Oscar, the Captain in Kong is played by Thomas Kreschmann who also plays an important role in the Pianist! (see it - its a brilliant movie!)

just back from it. i thought it was ok. i liked it but the first hour dragged so much. i think the movie could be great if it was edited down to about 3 1/2 hours. acting was good anlthough is it me or was Naomi exactly the same as Nicole Kidman?

I thought the film only goes for about 3hrs 7 minutes.  ??? I think Naomi watts bears a very strong resembalance to Nicole Kidman physically and I often mistake her for Nicole.
For anyone intersted check out the WETA collectibles NZ site. They have a stack of Kong statues for order. Ive just ordered Kong V. Rex because I thought it was such a high point in the film, showing Kong's unrelenting ability to protect Ann at any cost.  ;D

Yes, that's absolutely true, it was listed here with 187 minutes and wasn't longer than that.

he more than likely meant 2 1/2 hours. I think everything was done perfectly, the begining might be "slow" to some people, but you have to set up what is about to come, plus, some of the funniest lines are in the begining.

My wife and I saw King Kong yesterday and loved it!   :)  The first hour was a bit slow but I know Peter had to develop the characters.
The rest of the movie was outstanding.  I am so glad Peter made the movie in the timeframe of the original King Kong instead making it say in today's world.  I do not know how many of you have seen the original King Kong movie but for its time it was a sensation.  Peter's movie followed the original pretty faithfully!   :)

We had an 8 minute intermission during the movie.  Did everyone else have one as well or did it show right through?

Nah, I wish theaters still did intermissions. I have never been to a movie with an intermission (although I maybe remember there being one during Titanic?)
Kong showed right through for me, in both of the theaters I saw it in.

The last movie I went to that had an intermission was Aladdin  :rofl:

Havent seen King Kong yet, but by the sound of it, its something I should make time for.

I saw the movie yesterday and thought it was definately worth watching. Kong is excellent - very realistic looking with excellent movements etc done by Andy Serkis. Andy also reveals his comic side again as Lumpy the cook - but what were those slug looking things?!
My only gripe is the part when everyone is running between the dinosaurs - doesnt look very convincing and surely the people would have got crushed?
