hey are there any Narnia cards out there or being made as this seems like a great film and one that would lend itself well to a card set.any ideas or rumers?

Upper Deck has the rights to make the cards, however Upper Deck does not have a good history with ANY Non Sport sets....so don't expect anything special

ugh why couldn't some company like rittenhouse or inkworks have gotten them

Actually, Darren at Cards Inc. posted on another forum that there was going to be a product release by a brand new company targetted at retail outlets in Europe.

I buy from CI, so if they will be handling them I'll have them here in the states.

I'll post more information once it firms up a little.

I wouldn't get my hopes up, since it was said this was aimed at Retail Outlets I can assume it will only have modest, if any, chase.

Still waiting to hear back with more information.

Well, it's not necessarily a matter of giving them anything, they want people to pay for the privilege of making cards for a movie.  There are several things a company might require before the pick up a license:

• Access to images in time to make cards
• Availability of actors for autographs
• Willingness to provide costume/prop material
• Time in an already busy schedule to do the work

Rittenhouse has done very few movie sets (ST: Nemesis, James Bond Die Another Day, both from licenses they already held) and have indicated in the past that TV series are just more comfortable to work with because you don't have the time issues you get with movies and release dates.

Inkworks had a pretty full end-of-year with LOST in November and Alias originally in December.  Things were tight enough that they pushed Alias back to January.  One would think another set probably was not possible.

Artbox barely got GoF out before the movie and missed the opening with Doom.  Three other sets did not appear at all for various reasons: Frankenstein and 2 Zorro sets.  Again, they probably had their hands full with other releases.

I'd honestly guess that it was a combination of timing with other releases and the studio's willingness to provide necessary guarantees for their end.  But one never knows...

Of course I'd like to see a nicely done full set with the works, but I'll settle for a well done mini-set or a preview set.  It's better than nothing (and more than I got for Pirates of the Caribbean).
