Is there any way to send a BIN to a specific person, so that they can purchase your item via ebay without others grabbing it first?

Yes, no problem. You both have to be online. Add the item to ebay, send the other person the item number via email or PM and she/he will find it. Nobody else would have a chance before that. I did this with Anna when she bought my April Joke card (maybe somebody remembers).  ;D

oh ok...but is there no way to do it by just sending them a personal BIN...where u are not online the same time?

Is it against ebay rules to misspell the item or use a title  that won't be found easily at all? Then, you could just email the auction link to that person, and they can BIN. But, you are always at risk that someone else will find it first ... this is an interesting question ;)

That's a really good idea.  You could also put the auction in the wrong category.  Sellers do that by accident all of the time.

There's a much MUCH easier way.

As a seller you can limit your auction to only a preapproved bidder.  They are the ONLY one allowed to bid on the item.

I've also seen a case where the seller makes the auction title to be like:

"ferdinand_the_yak's auction"

I'd like to see who would search for THAT! Of course, you'd have to make sure that your buyer's name is not "Hermione pink sweater" or "FOTR Legolas" or similar ;) :rofl:

I wrote to eBay customer service before tialessa posted, and they just told me the same thing as she did. :)
