I just love those spoilers and I can't wait to see it next summer. It makes me want to go get my DVD and watch "The Lost Pearl" again  :D I was so happy when I heard that their was going to be three movies to "Pirates of the Carribean" and that Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp are scheduled to be in all three of them  ;D

Who knew that a Disney ride could end up being such a fantastic movie  :rofl:

A while back, Johnny Depp was on the Tonight Show and told Jay Leno that they were in negotiations with Keith Richards to play the part of Jack's father.  I thought it was for this movie, but that isn't the case.  Maybe it's for PotC3?

I saw where POTC2 will be released here in the United States on July 7th!  Unfortunately for me I will be in the middle of Glacier National Park in Montana at that time and I know there are not any movie theaters where I am going to be.  I will have to wait until I return home to see this much anticipated movie.   :)

By the looks of it POTC 3 will be a LOST/POTC crossover there are so many members of the LOST cast there (I know Maggie and Jorge were over here for LFACC, but Eko and Jinn were there too)

Well, hang the critics, I loved it - pure Jack Sparrow, Will Turner and good fun! Lots of mix ups, lots of twists and turns, a good ol' sea yarn. If you could criticise it for anything it would be because it's rather long, but I lapped up the hours of Piratey goodness (oh 'eck, I'm starting to sound like Mark!)

I was SO surprised that it's actually a two parter. Whilst I know they are filming POTC3 (notice that Depp, Bloom, and the rest of the cast were all sporting smarted-up versions of sideburns, goatees etc that they have for filming at the Premiere this week), but I had at least expected a little semi-closure.

I cheated. I changed it to any colour - black I think it was, and then I just wrote white into the code to replace where it previously said black :rofl: - it works with quite a few colours ;D

It came out yesterday here in Australia but im going to see it tonight instead....only 12 more hours to go  (:D#

Im seeing it tomorrow arvo; we wanted to go gold class (want to be more comfortable for 2 1/2 hours viewing) and so tomorrow was the earliest we could get it....so excited! Paper gave it a crappy review yesterday, but they gave the first one a dog (ie utter crap), so I dont trust them that much.

I read that too!! Only like one star....but other reviews I have read have been really good. David and Margaret's movie reviews (abc i think, i dont watch it) gave it like 4 1/2 stars which is rare for them cause they are into more diverse and meaningful movies and often dont like the 'commercial' type movie...if that makes sense...So it looks like u either love it or hate it...

I think Im gonna love it. The first one was hilarious, and im sure this one will be the same.

The funny thing is, although the Herald Sun gave it one star, the mx (which is essentially the same paper) gave it 3 1/2  :-\

If you haven't seen the first one in a while make sure you refresh your memory before seeing this one, they are very closely linked.  I totally agree with Roz's first white spoiler and the last minute of the film (before the titles) brought the biggest smile to my face  ;D.  I too stayed around to watch the seven and half minutes of credits to see what they would do after the film -  :rofl:

This movie kicked BUTT
This is by far my favorite movie so far this year...

It just has everything going for it!

Sound just got back our 9.35 screening was full so we waited for the 10.25 showing. Wow I loved this it was amazing I love the fact it leads to a continuation at the end just great. I didnt wait till the end of the credits did I miss something, flamin big cups of Coke needed the little boys room.

I saw it today, and I loved it. Mind you, I was pretty much the only person in the cinema laughing, but it was hilarious. Loved all the little references to the first movie, and the hint of the title of the second.

Tiny scene after the credits; not really any big hint like the one at the end of movie one.

That's true, but I guess they couldn't do too much in case people didn't see it and it ruined the continuity of the second half :)

I wonder if that un-dead monkey will become key to the story later on.

I really really enjoyed it... tried to watch it Saturday night, but the friends I tried to talk into it couldn't do it (an 8:30 PM show was too late as it's a 2 1/2 hour movie).  Saw it first thing on Sunday morning (10AM) - theatre had a decent crowd for that early - about 25 people.  No spoilers, but TONS of references to the first film (and the ride).  The official trailers don't spoil too much, but anything else probably will - saw a CBS Sunday Morning thing that gave away SEVERAL things that I thought were key...

Oh how I wish there would be a card set for POC!!!

I can't believe there isn't a card set, either.  I just got back from a trip to Disney World, and I scoured the parks looking for trading cards.  I found some of the regular characters, but nothing for POTC. :-\  The refurbished Pirates of the Carribean ride opened on July 1, although there was no announcement.  The official opening was July 7 and the lines were HUGE.  I was glad I had the chance to go on it several times earlier in the week, and even managed to take some pictures.  These aren't the best quality, due to low light levels, but my Canon Power Shot did the best it could. ;)  It was amazing how perfect the look, mannerisms, and speech were for the Captain Jack figures.

I saw the film Saturday and whilst I loved most all of it, the one part that dissapointed me (yes, prepare yourself for the shock)...was Johnn Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. Sparrow in POTC1 was classic, a great character: devious, cunning, mischevious, smart with occasional moments of comedy. In my opinion, POTC turned him, for the most part, into a walking Chuck Jones cartoon, played mainly for laughs. Gone was most of the devious, cunning, mischevious smarts that made the Sparrow of POTC1 so great. I know most of you probably disagree, but that's my opinion. But I loved most of the rest of the movie. Bill Nighy as Davy Jones was great, and for me, the best moment was the last scene with the cameo appearance (so as not to ruin it for those who haven't seen it or been spoiled already...all maybe one person :p), him with the apple, hah, loved it.

I loved it too don't get me wrong. I suppose it was impossible to keep us guessing - I think we spent a lot of the first film wondering who's side Jack was on, First Will's and then the Commadores (briefly) - until we just decided that he was on Cap'n Jack's side :D (with a twist at the end of being on Will's side again :P).

There really was no way they could take us on that rollercoaster again because we'd already done it (if that makes sense) and it wouldn't be possible to keep the pace of that again would it?

I took my two older boys to the movie also!! They liked it, but they did say that Cap'n Jack wasn't as funny in #2 as he was in #1.  :-\


Now! What I wonder, I'll be careful with my words here for those who haven't seen it, is, if Elizabeth were to hold the compass, which "way" would the arrow point?  :-\ HUMMMMM!!

I'd say Will, I know it was a dicy bit towards the end but she was doing what she needed to to save the masses IMHO (blah blah the sacrifice of the few for the many etc etc), it was rash and she seems to have regretted it. I wonder how Will will react when he gets some time to speak to Elizabeth... and is it entirely fair that we have to wait a year?  :'( He hee, boo hoo - I can't wait. *

I know that all the card companies were moaning about license costs on this one, but the box office speaks for itself here (as much revenue in 3 days as Superman has had in a week and 3 days, in America alone (we can't do it worldwide yet as Superman isn't out worldwide), we'd have been all over these cards like a rash, and there were so many throwabout props to make cards from.

All there is to collect so far is the Cards Inc Medallionz, and they aren't my bag TBH.

And the Tops Trumps set doesn't interest me at all... I don't want Gaming cards.... I want trading cards!!!!!

There are 3 US stores with POTC II gift cards - McDonald's (3), WalMart, and KB Toys.  Apparently all will have to have $$ put on them before they can leave the stores (which is understandable, but I don't shop at KB Toys)...

Revenue at the theaters does not necessarily mean revenue for trading cards.

I love the McDonald's gift cards though, and since we eat there ALL THE TIME, I'll definately be picking some up :) I was at KB over the weekend but didn't see theirs :(

Ah well, back to work I go singing pirate ditties as I am one of the very few (apparantly) who has NOT seen the movie - no babysitter :(

I finally got around to seeing it and the critics can go and get stuffed - I loved it! ;D I thought Orlando and Keira improved alot from the first movie and Depp was, as usual, pure class :rofl: Loved all the references to POTC 1! I liked the somewhat changed appearance of one particular returning character... no spoilers, but rweowr :-* ;)

The twist at the end was soooooooo cool... I can't wait to see how that will turn out - next year can't come quickly enough ;D ;D ;D

When they were kissing at the end with the Kraken about to destroy the Pearl, I thought Jack chained himself to the mast at the end, not Elizabeth?? Or did I miss something?

See, I thought Jack took it mighty calmly for a bloke who had been chained to a ship about to be destroyed by a Kraken... I'd only look like that if I knew what I was doing, i.e. if I had done it myself.

Maybe I'm wrong, but  didn't Jack have a scared/surprised expression on his face when the Kraken showed up after he was chained?

It's all Elizabeth's doing. She apologises to him and says she doesn't regret anything. And yes, Jack does look surprised as well and you can see Elizabeth moving him towards the mast. I think he's calm becuase he's resigned himself to his fate...

I'm seeing it for a third time tomorrow and mean to keep a close eye on a couple of scenes/things that I think are hints of something important...

Well you can't fire me for not trying, I've just been to the cinema, it's a TUESDAY evening... the slowest evening in any cinema and although there were 2 showings after the time I went for they were ALL SOLD OUT! This is going to make crazy box office figures!

We went to our usual cinema to see it (Tuesday night also) and all sessions were sold out as well!!! We didn't expect that as it has been out for a week (although it is school holidays here). We managed to get into another, quieter cinema, but that was pretty much capacity as well. Like you say, I can't wait to see the box office figures! :o

I saw it a few days ago and LOVED it. I thought re-hashing some of the old jokes at the start was a bit erm silly or corny maybe but there were a couple of ones that I did enjoy again. It was really really good but I cant believe that we now have to wait so long to see the next one  :'(

We went to a Monday 11 a.m. showing and there were only a few seats left in the theater when the movie started.

Well I am sure that it was already mentioned in this thread but it broke every kind of record here in the states.

$132M over the weekened (Spiderman 2 was #1 at $114)
$55M in it's first day (Episode 3 was the highest at $51M or something like that)
Over $100M in it's first Two days.

It is INSANE how much money this movie will make...Titanic is the #1 Grossing film of all time here in the States at $600M...I wonder if Pirates will have a shot at beating it?

Yay i have seen it at last very good ;D I was very surpirsed at the end hadn't expected them. I thought old Tia whats her face was a good charcter and do we think the thing Jack 'pocketed' from her home will have any bearing?

went to see POTC 2 last night and thought it was really good..... REALLY good.... but i still prefer the first one i think. There were some super cool scenes in the movie, and like many of you, the whole cannibal island thing was a little outta place. I totally got the whole running on to dry land to escape the Kraken... and i suppose it just provided more comic releif for us!!

I loved the whole three way fight and the big wheel chase/fight thingy - very entertaining.

No i haven't read this thread until today (to prevent reading spoilers) so i was totally unaware that there was a third movie and even though i knew the movie was like 2.5hrs long and at a few moments within the movie i felt it was dragging, when it got to the end, i REALLY was expecting to see the remaining crew sail to the ends of the earth.... and then the credits rolled up... WHAT!!! i felt slightly cheated.... but am totally looking forward to the third one now... Captain Barbosa, Jack and Davey Jones all in one movie.... WOW!!! Could you ask for more pirates in a movie than that??

I have a confession! This is the first soundtrack I have bought (well, besides Saturday Night Fever  :rofl: ).
Yes! I am admitting that I haven't even purchased a single HP soundtrack *ducks to dodge spells being casted from around the world*  (But do not fret!! I purchased all of them, plus Star Wars yesterday!  ;D)

Anywho, I have to say that I am feeling the emotions in every track!! I highly recommend it to all!!! My kids are even enjoying it!! My 3 year old sat on the couch staring into "la la land" listening to it!!  :o :D

I confess not - since I thought it would be much the same as the PoTC1 soundtrack I already have - am I wrong?

I bought the Superman soundtrack instead ... LOL I really enjoyed that film (but had no expectation when I went into the cinema... I have no idea why when it's such a huge title).

16 quid for a game? That's a bit much. I'd stick with the regular edition.

Call me a cheapskate if you will (and I'm sure you will :rofl:) but if play are charging £13.99 for the basic discs and amazon have the same price for a DVD with Art cards I know where I'm going :rofl:

Unfortunately I have seen lots more things to buy on Amazon :( so it's turning out to be a pretty expensive set of art cards :rofl:

The Dr who DVD set has a Cybermans head which is really cool, but it is really expensive and I taped of the programmes when they where on.

But Amazon is dodgy.

But to be honest, I totally love Dead Man's Chest!!! More than
the first one! My 3 year old loves to listen to it all the time!!

Yup yup, I got it ;D I just LOVE the Davy Jones track (my Church has a fantastic organ and one of these fine days I'm going to let rip and try to play this track... when no one's around ;) I do play the piano and have played the organ a few times, but I'm not sure my feet are nimble enough for this track ::)).

Back last year when Dead Mans Chest came out, posters were put up in bus stops and tram stops around the city...being a bit cheeky,, I emailed the company to ask if I could have a will turner poster...and this is what I picked up this morning:

Anyways, I have some "happy mom" news!!  ;)
Lately, we have been playing the Dead Man's Chest CD a lot,
mainly in the car. Our favorite track came on...#9 (Wheel of Fortune)
and Nick (my oldest...6th grade) said, "Man, I wish we could play this
good!" He told me that band (school band) is playing Pirates right now!!!
I was so happy!!  :rofl: ;D His concert will be in May! I totally can't wait to hear!!

(They're playing the theme song from James Bond also!) YAY!!!!
Why didn't I ever get to play cool things like this!!  :( ;)

Do you know that some first year English Lit (I think) classes at my uni are studying Harry Potter? Why didn't they have that when I was in 1st year? :P
