- Shipping HP POA Cards HELP

I am having the worst time determining shipping costs and methods for people out of Country I know some of you have bought or sold cards out of country so any help would be great.

It appears shipping costs are outrageous if you want to attempt to insure of verify delivery. It is cheap if you just send it. I don't want to send out cards that are bought for $$$$ hundreds in the regular mail with no delivery tracking or Insurance.

How have any of you sent the cards and what were the approximate costs.

I have to send
One to the UK
Two to Japan
One to the Netherlands
and One to Australia (for some reason the buyer sent me paypal payment and didn't even add any shipping costs in I am a little confused to why so I may reverse the paypal if I don't hear back from him.)

it all depends on what you are shipping. (the dollar amount) I find the best way is to use the Global Priority Mail - Flat-rate Envelope (small). It costs $5.00 USD to most foreign places (I assume you are in the U.S.) and for $12.50 more you can have them pick it up at their postal service. I have sent high dollar amount ($100+) cd's this way.... or just send it EMS mail. For certain countries like mexico that is the only way I will ship it.

If it is a big $$$ item usually the buyer is more then willing to pay for the extra cost of shipping with insurance. It is their to protect both of you. You from a chargeback and the buyer from damage/lost item. I always have in my auctions that international bidders take on the risk and the fees that go with sending overseas. (also note payputz charges you a higher % from an international buyer)

blah blah blah... i am rambling. Be safe, charge the buyer the appropriate fees to ship it correctly so everyone is happy, and cancel the australian's payment and make him pay the shipping fees. ;)

PS: if you insure it do not declare the value on the customs form under what you insured it for. (it is not your fault that their country may charge them duties on the package)

Good one - but I don't know that Global Priority Mail has any insurance does it? Nor does it require a signature on receipt!

So what DOES it do over normal post?

Savage 727 seems to be able to post things insured for more than $40 - but I am not sure how - perhaps he can help, but when I had a FOTR Aragorn auto sent over here we had it trackabe and insured (but once again only for $40 :'( but that postage cost $11.

Any other advice people want to chip in?

No but we really don't appreciate customs charges on cards... thats why prices are higher in the UK - there are less chances of being "shafted" by sellers who are so far away nothing can be done - and there's no risk of import taxes...

I don't know why it's so tough posting from the US to here, posting from here to the US insured gives us 3 options - "airsure" - trackable and insureable for up to £500, "International signed for" - a signature is required on receipt (which isn't necessary for airsure - no idea why) and finally surface signed for - a lot cheaper - well 1/3 off the usual price - and all these are fully insurable

Here is what I do when I send packages to you and Mark via the U.S. Postal Service. There are two types of Customs forms that you have to fill out and both are based on weight of the package being sent. The small green one is for packages under 5 pounds and the larger white one is for over 5 pounds weight.

Both forms ask what you are sending and their value but the key here is if the item is a gift or a merchandise purchase. As I always send gifts to you both that is the option I use. I do declare what the item is and its true value. I use Global Priority Mail which costs for the under 5 pound package about $13.00 and I have spent up to $100.00 for larger weighted packages sent via Air Mail. You have the option to add insurance to your package and tracking for additional costs. I do add these when the value is high like the Christmas presents I sent you both this past year.

My best advise for beckham is to go to his local Post Office and inquire about the various options open to him. You also have the services of FedEx and UPS to ship overseas but the cost is more but you also have peace of mind as they offer great service and tracking. It all depends on what you are willing to pay and how valuable the item is to you or to your Buyer.
