: GOF Autograph Numbers
: allender November 19, 2005, 07:44:17 PM
Updated through 11 May 2007, for 299 autos in 606 boxes or 10.10% of the 6000-box production run.

I assumed 30% more autos were signed than you expect to see in boxes, a total of about 3900. The "overage" percentages for this series are 23% for costumes (sum of numbers = 7400), 33% for props, and 50% for cinema cards. I only use the numbers from box and case breakdowns, not auction listings, because I can't tell what the distribution was unless they tell me.

Number reported - projected total - signer

1   -     50   -   Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley (redemption)
  8   -   100   -   Gary Oldman as Sirius Black
12   -   150   -   Shirley Henderson as Moaning Myrtle
12   -   150   -   Dual Weasleys: James and Oliver Phelps
15   -   200   -   Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory
20   -   250   -   Stanislav Janevski as Viktor Krum (redemption)
22   -   250   -   Miranda Richardson as Rita Skeeter (redemption)
25   -   350   -   Jeff Rawle as Amos Diggory
27   -   350   -   Brendan Gleeson as Mad-Eye Moody
29   -   350   -   Predrag Bjelacas as Igor Karkaroff
31   -   400   -   Angelica Mandy as Gabrielle Delacour
32   -   400   -   Tiana Benjamin as Angelina Johnson
32   -   400   -   Henry Lloyd-Hughes as Roger Davies
33   -   400   -   Warwick Davis as Professor Flitwick

Thanks for being bored enough to do the stats for us Jeff - they will hopefully give us some idea on how tough they'll be to get and what kind of prices they're likely to reach too. ;) ;D

I have seen two Sirius autos pulled, and two Cedrics now as well.

And Devon Murray won't be in this set, i think, you really can remove him. Everybody says 14 Autos, so we should be complete with the Ron Redemption.

I will need to pull these images from my site at the end of the month (have to monitor my traffic each month), so please download them to save them for use in the Price Guide or other spots.

Thanks,

Mmmm that is strange with Angelina.  I actually loved her other auto - wonder if she just got fed up doing the fancy one  :-\

I'm waiting [and hoping] Artbox to get back to me with the Auto information I asked about.

Friday night I e-mailed them about how many autos were signed per actor/actress. I hope I get something back besides "we do not understand the nature of your question, sorry for the inconvenience" ::)

It is fun to watch t change as we go on.  I mean, right now, I am surprised to see so many Mad Eye Moody's.  I bet that changes....

Hey Jeff,

How come you don't have the dual Weasley on the list. I have seen a couple posted in other threads. Also I can confirm the Rupert Grint redemption. I saw one yesterday at a friend's house.

They are usually pretty closed-mouth about the auto numbers, so good luck, it would save some work.  ;D

The only time I've seen something other than "very vague" was for Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, where they shared the info with a big customer or two. At least that one semi-confirmed the rough number of "overages", e.g., the number signed versus the number placed in packs (minus ones held back as spares and replacements).

I see Tom has a complete auto set up for auction now. It will be interesting to see "what the traffic will bear"!

Mike Simon, from artbox, did tell me on the phone when talking to him that Hermione and Ron both signed 100 cards for the update set, and Harry signed a lot less than that.  Thats all that I have ever got out of them.

Hey Jeff, I prefer you update it on the top so we at least all know exactly where to look to find it, rather than going through the whole thread, which I would end up doing anyway ;)

Are we sure Cedrics is limited?  Still, I am so surprised to see so many Moody's being pulled....

It would seem that Sirius, Ron Redemption, and the Weasley Twins auto are limited ??? I wish Artbox would just come forward with the Autograph Numbers. It would be so much easier.

: Re: GOF Autograph Numbers

I agree.  I am hoping Cedric is not as limited as we all seem to think.  I mean, before this set came out, we all assumed Moody's would have been the limited one.....and Sirius (and of course, Ron).

And Rich just pulled another Cedric, and John has pulled three so far.

It's unlikely they'll get me to believe that for Ron and Sirius, but for the others it works.  ;)  Thanks!

Update posted midnight (GMT) 07/08 December. Time to get on to sending emails to people who didn't post breakdowns, I reckon!

Agreed - 150 may have been signed but the number that ended up in packs has to be sub 100

Certainly for Ron, though I could squint a bit and see how Sirius might end up in the "150 produced" range if we see a few more clusters show up.

My guess of 30% "above the number in packs" or 3900 total autos seems to give the right relative amounts, according to the hints Artbox gave to Mike. If you ignore fuzziness in statistics, the projections for the five most common autos would be 387, 387, 402, 417, 417 compared to the word that 150-400 each were signed.

The "overage" percentages for this series are 23% for costumes (sum of numbers = 7400), 33% for props, and 50% for cinema cards.

Why would the overage by so high for the filmcards?

They're a bit higher than usual for the others too, so I think they reduced their target for the total number of cases only after they planned out the inserts. It's possible that we will see some of the extras in a Comic Con goodie-bag or in the aftermarket.

: Re: GOF Autograph Numbers

That's if Artbox produces mystery boxes for Comic-Con.  There were a lot of complaints last year that show exhibitors and some others were in line for the goodies before the doors opened to the general public, and those people snapped up a lot of the items that were for sale.
