: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : darthmactor November 17, 2005, 11:44:09 AM For those of you who didn't get to see it and wanted to, here you go:
(http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/1365/30099avatar9ip.gif) : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Sharon November 17, 2005, 10:10:47 PM I am going to show my total Britishness now. What is a taco - is it anything to do with Taco Bell? Probably all other Brits know but my taste buds stretch as far as the local fish and chip shop ;D
Oh and I did know about poor old Cedric - that is why I only support him a little bit ;) : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Roz November 17, 2005, 10:21:49 PM InMexico tacos are a soft pliable tortilla kind of thing (made from maize or wheat), in the US it seems to be a deep-fried crispy tortilla shell, unless we are talking about breakfast time and then it's a whole different story.
: Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Roz November 17, 2005, 10:23:04 PM Oh yes and then they fill it with stuff. I dunno whether it's any good, but I have been warned off taco bells by American flatmates :-\
: Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Sharon November 17, 2005, 10:25:42 PM The only reason I know about Taco Bell is because of the Demolition Man, I love that film  So they seem to be a bit like a versatile pancake that can be soggy or crunchy?
: Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : rns91294 November 17, 2005, 10:27:16 PM I love Taco Bell, so I guess it is all up to your taste buds. I met my husband working at a Mexican Restaurant, and I prefered the fast food Taco Bell Tacos over the one from the restaurant.
And yes, you can order soft tacos or hard shell tacos. It is a Mexican/Spanish dish. : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Roz November 17, 2005, 10:34:25 PM It is a Mexican/Spanish dish. I don't mean to be difficult here but I have never come across this in Spain (remember in Spain a tortilla is a type of Omelette, there's definitely something 'lost in translation' there!). And if it originated from Maize then it definitely didn't originate in Spain :-\ If it gets your vote Sara, I'll definitely give it a try :) : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : HPfamily November 17, 2005, 10:50:44 PM I am going to show my total Britishness now. What is a taco - is it anything to do with Taco Bell? The only reason I know about Taco Bell is because of the Demolition Man, I love that film       I am totally cracking up!! I guess one (myself) thinks everyone knows about our common international foods, especially something like tacos. But when I read the food threads, I don't have a clue what some of you are talking about!!!     : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : HPfamily November 17, 2005, 10:52:44 PM BTW!! Can someone tell me what the Cedric square says? All I see is "I WANT".
(I am still having trouble with getting my gifs to move ::)) : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : rns91294 November 17, 2005, 10:57:21 PM BTW!! Can someone tell me what the Cedric square says? All I see is "I WANT". (I am still having trouble with getting my gifs to move ::)) Me too!! I am at work, so if I view it at home I should be fine, but I want to know too!! Oh, and Roz, you are right. It is not Spanish. Definitely Mexican though... : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Nienna November 17, 2005, 10:58:30 PM It goes ...
I want a Taco You know who can't have a Taco Cedric because he's dead .... (there's a small pic of Cedric next to this bit) *tear* You need to see it working properly Jackie! ;) : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : HPfamily November 17, 2005, 11:02:42 PM I wish I could!! For some reason, one weekend, my gifs stopped moving!! I tried to ask for info to get them moving again, but nothing has worked!! Once again, if anyone can help, please do!! :o=
: Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : kbmum November 17, 2005, 11:09:31 PM Oh yes and then they fill it with stuff. I dunno whether it's any good, but I have been warned off taco bells by American flatmates :-\ Taco Bell makes a very Americanized version of Mexican food. It's okay. I had the more authentic stuff when I lived in LA and nothing can compare to that for me. :) : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : grecopa November 17, 2005, 11:17:01 PM Kbmum is so right on the tacos! Taco Bell is just a generic hamburger meat taco, although not too bad for fast food (but very fattening). When we lived in San Diego I got to have some REAL tacos, burritos, etc. There's a HUGE difference! I miss it. :'( But here in Florida we can get some good Cuban food. Pork, fried plantains, black beans and rice! Yum!! Too bad Cedrick will never get to try it. ;)

Pork, fried plantains, black beans and rice! Yum!! Too bad Cedrick will never get to try it. ;) I love Cuban food. I tried it when my husband and I honeymooned in the Floriday Keys, but it's very hard to find up north. : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Roz November 17, 2005, 11:27:54 PM I had the more authentic stuff when I lived in LA and nothing can compare to that for me. :) I don't suppose that's the sort of thing Anna could post to you ;) imagine the look on the postman's face  : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : kbmum November 17, 2005, 11:32:57 PM Imagine the smell from day-old meat and cheese that's travelled 3,000 miles. :P
: Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : HPfamily November 17, 2005, 11:38:15 PM I agree!!! Once you have had authentic Mexican food, there is nothing that compares!!!
: Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Nienna November 17, 2005, 11:50:34 PM I wish I could!! For some reason, one weekend, my gifs stopped moving!! Once again, if anyone can help, please do!! :o= It sounds like some of your computer settings are stopping them from working properly. You will have to enable your cookies so the little critters move! ;) : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : darthmactor November 17, 2005, 11:52:29 PM Well, it looks like the event must happen, so welcome everyone to the first international Taco Symposium. Sorry, I forgot the Chips 'n' Dip, so you are on your own on that front. To start with today, let us introduce: THE TACO! (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/3222/yummytacos6or.jpg)
An average example of a scrumptious soft and hard shell taco. Yummy yummy. (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/7632/prodtacocrispyflour1ig.jpg)(http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/707/tacobasic20ln.jpg) These are two more examples of your basic nummy taco, a wonderful, easily produced food for the masses. Do marvel. (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/2811/taco18oc.jpg) This is a taco salad, the orgins of which are shrouded in mystery, but are rumoured to be the work of a man from Upper Boise who just couldn't keep his crispy taco shell in one piece. (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/6176/contentsofataco7iz.jpg) These are some of the things that can go into a taco. Other lesser known, and not always recommended ingrediants include small woodland animals, your Harry Potter prop cards, and neighborhood children. (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/1920/taco20margarita20black6oy.jpg) This is art inspired by the taco. Strangely enough, it is also yummy. (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/5032/dognamedtaco4of.jpg)(http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/9807/dognamedtaco20pk.jpg) Here are two lovely little critters who are not tacos, but who are, indeed, named Taco. (http://img499.imageshack.us/img499/3526/dognamedtacowithbrandy4qk.jpg) This is another fuzzy fun one named Taco, who enjoys his daytime telly, usually coronation street, and his brandy. (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/3334/placethatservestacos3fn.gif) This is the directions to a place that, you guessed it, serves tacos. (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/2284/tacoclown4ch.jpg) This is a clown named Taco, and unlike real tacos, is quite frightening. (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/4163/tacoferret0op.gif) This is a Ferret named Taco, and upon last check, is no relation of the Draco Malfoy Ferret. (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/1784/nothingtodowithtacos3ap.jpg) This man...has nothing to do with tacos. (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/2816/notataco0yf.jpg)(http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/2483/notataco14yp.jpg) These are not tacos... (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/6339/nottacos33qc.jpg) and neither are these. (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/8152/doenstknowtacos2cx.jpg) This bloke doesn't know what a taco is. (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/2769/goffrenchposterhermione4ez.jpg) She has nothing to do with Tacos, but is rather a blatant attempt to insert a lovely lady into my symposium on tacos. (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/9083/tomanytacos2ut.jpg) And finally, this is what will happen if you eat to many good tacos, or any quanitity of bad tacos. Thank you for your time, attention, and interest in the taco symposium. We now turn the stage over M. Python for his symposium on sympoiums. >:D >:D >:D >:D : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Nienna November 17, 2005, 11:59:06 PM

I thought it was a box maker from Bristol who did that. Hm, go figure. Well, this thread is what happens after I watch 12 volumes of Monty Python in a single day, yes siree-bob. : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Nienna November 18, 2005, 01:42:02 AM Well I thought adapting the Vodaphone ad was appropriate somehow and 12 volumes of Monty Python in a DAY!?! :o
It's a wonder your brain hasn't turned to mush!! ::) "Notlob" is all I can say to you! :P : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Anna November 18, 2005, 01:48:18 AM

The LLAMA song!!!
(for the uninitiated) http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/llama.php After me: Llama, llama, not a llama! You can have that playing through your heads as you all crack open GOF!   : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : darthmactor November 18, 2005, 10:27:37 AM Or the SAWYER song (which is a rip off of the llama song):
http://www.freewebs.com/lostfoundation/sawyersong.html : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Taichi January 30, 2006, 11:13:04 AM You Brits are DEFINITELY lost in Translation, as the Taco is God's proof that he exists and wants us to be happy!
seriously, Tacos (all Mexican food actually, since it's made with the same four ingredients) are great! take a tortilla (that round lookin' thing made of corn flour), soft or hard, fill it with ground beef (I believe you guys call it mince), that's seasoned with taco seasoning (words can't describe how good this tastes, you either know or you don't), then you sprinkle shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, and diced tomatoes on top..... and finally, you can put a dollop of sour cream on top, if you like.....but it's not my preference...... : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Taichi January 31, 2006, 08:00:25 AM The new pizza crepe taco pancake chili bag
Start with a crunchy all-beef taco smothered in nacho cheese, lettuce, tomato and our special southwestern sauce. Wrap it in a soft flour tortilla with a layer of refried beans in between. Wrap that in a savory corn tortilla with a midlle layer of monterey jack cheese. Take a deep-fried gordita shell, smear on a layer of our special guacamolito sauce, and wrap that around the outside. Bake it in a corn husk filled with pico de gallo, then wrap that in an authentic Parisian crepe, filled with egg, gruyere, merguez sausage and portabello mushrooms. Wrap the whole thing in a Chicago-style deep dish meat-lover's pizza. Roll it up in a blueberry panacke, dip it in batter, and deep fry until it's golden brown. Serve it in commemorative tote bag filled with spicy vegetarian chili. : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : grecopa January 31, 2006, 08:14:58 AM You almost had me until I got to the crepe!
: Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : kbmum January 31, 2006, 08:31:49 AM Hey, Saturday Night Live did a skit like that! ;D
: Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Taichi January 31, 2006, 06:18:33 PM yep, I think it's the SNL thing word-for word.....
it's not mine, it's a SNL commercial parody.....but it's pretty funny    I figured it'd be appropriate for the Cedric Taco Thread! : Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : kbmum January 31, 2006, 07:14:46 PM Very appropriate, and even funnier with the visuals! :D
: Re: The Cedric Taco Thread *DEFINITE PLOT SPOILER FOR G.O.F.* : Taichi February 12, 2006, 02:41:08 AM lol, glad you guys like......
I had Tacos for dinner recently, and ate one in memory of Cedric..... but the Cedric Taco Avatar isn't the first, or even the only melding of Mexican Food and Harry Potter in Icon form...... lest we forget: Señor Draco, and the Quatros Enchiladas  (http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d121/Blisterfists/2819423.gif) |
