: Unpaid item strike removal request : blackcat20 November 12, 2005, 06:04:43 PM I had a bidder a few months ago, who won an item and didnt pay. After sending a number of emails, I filed with ebay. I got a response stating they were going to pay, but I waited, and they didnt. Eventually I claimed my fees back, and a unpaid item strike was left.
Tonight Ive just got an email from the bidder, sent to me and two others, stating that there child had used ebay to bid on the item, that they were sorry, and could I please remove the strike as they want to use ebay to buy chrissie presents. They have even given me instructions on how to remove the strike... Any thoughts, on whether to do this or not? ??? : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : ferdinand_the_yak November 12, 2005, 07:55:50 PM ASk the other members who filed strikes what they think about this... how much time/money did they waste on this person and whether they are going to remove their strikes...
I wouldn't if I were you... kids bidding... sheesh. Any excuse ::) But then again, I am evil >:D : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : Scifi Cards November 12, 2005, 08:45:54 PM I wouldn't do it, but I guess I'm evil too! >:D
They didn't bother explaining or even contacting you until it was a big deal for them. They didn't control their account properly, they need to deal with the consequences. Ed : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : Sharon November 13, 2005, 01:22:58 AM I'm with the others, don't do it! If it was their child bidding they should count themselves lucky it was a person like you who was the seller and not someone selling less 'savoury' stuff. This is the second thing I have seen recently about kids using their parents credit cards/Ebay accounts without permission to buy stuff on the internet. I thought that was what passwords were for!
If they are knowledgeable enough on how to remove a strike against them they should be able to keep a password to themselves ::) : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : HPfamily November 13, 2005, 01:44:09 AM I'm with everyone else!!! It is obvious that the kids knows passwords to be able to bid!! And where would the kid get the passwords???? UMMMM? Parents maybe!! ::) Don't do it!!! >:D
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : Anna November 13, 2005, 03:00:18 AM I also agree with everyone else. If this really was the problem in the first place, the buyer should have just explained this to you when it happened instead of waiting two months. ::) I think they're full of it myself. >:D
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : blackcat20 November 13, 2005, 03:34:41 AM I think Im with all of you here. I dont really want to remove it. They said the kid had their laptop which had access to their ebay account, which is reasonable; I leave mine permanently logged in... however, they could have just said so back in June. >:() And I never actually left a negative for them, the other two did, so I think they got away lightly. My strike stays; they can do their shopping another way >:D
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : mcgonagall November 13, 2005, 06:29:51 AM I think the parent is responsible for it. I have kids ( as you all know ) and unless i am sitting with them looking on ebay they don't go near it. Even then i get them to see if there is anything they can afford and then i make them go away from my computer and i then and only then put in my password and bid on the item for them.
but hey that is just me But i think if that had been the case 2 months ago then they just should have said. Instead of leaving it until it suited them : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : Morningangel-Iola November 14, 2005, 04:23:10 AM Yes, if it was there kid they should have told you and what the .... was he doing buying things on there in the first place? Its not a game.
If they had apologised orginally then I'd say do it. But not waiting until this thier problem. For all you know the kid might be an excuse, it might not have been that at all. : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : blackcat20 November 14, 2005, 04:26:55 AM Agreed. If they had said so originally, we could have worked something out. but five (!) months is way too late. Im leaving the strike; its what they get for being irresponsible.
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : blackcat20 November 14, 2005, 04:52:26 AM I just got another email, this time from a different email address, and sent only to me. Obviously the other two gave in... Im tempted to send an email back explaining why I wont remove the strike... The actualy text of the email was no different from the first.
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : kbmum November 14, 2005, 05:49:56 AM I don't think it's worth the effort to write back to the "buyer." She might just want to argue the point with you. Can she leave you feedback, or has that option been taken away from her?
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : blackcat20 November 14, 2005, 06:16:07 AM Its been over (way over) 90 days, so they cant leave me feedback, and I cant leave any for them...i think ill just keep ignoring them...
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : kbmum November 14, 2005, 06:21:27 AM That isn't entirely true. :-\
http://pages.ebay.com/help/feedback/questions/leaving-feedback.html If you need to leave feedback for a transaction that is more than 90 days old, you may do so using the "single transaction form" link located on the Leave Feedback page. Remember, eBay only commits to items being available for 90 days, so if it is greater than 90 days you may not be able to leave feedback. : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : blackcat20 November 14, 2005, 06:23:03 AM oh, i didnt know that. thanks. do you think its worth leaving one, and what should i say? I dont really want them leaving one for me :-\
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : LikORish-Spider November 14, 2005, 06:47:09 AM If they leave you a feedback you can rebutt it.
I wouldn't remove the strike if I were you. : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : blackcat20 November 14, 2005, 07:04:42 AM but even if i rebut it, i have the negative. at the moment im 100% positive and i dont want that to change. i think ill just stick with the strike.
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : ferdinand_the_yak November 14, 2005, 12:39:14 PM Don't remove it Kate... It would only encourage them to let their *kids* bid on auctions in the future.
Stay evil >:D ;D : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : kbmum November 14, 2005, 06:34:52 PM Stay evil >:D ;D :o :o :o Note to self: Put Jo on "blocked bidders" list. ;D Speaking of which, did you put that person on your blocked bidders list? I wouldn't leave feedback for her unless she does it for you. : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : Nienna November 14, 2005, 07:43:20 PM I would leave the strike where it is - they've left it far too long in explaining what they 'claim' has happened and should have been honest with you from the beginning.
As an aside to this - Cindy, I know about the blocked bidders list, but what happens when someone you've blocked tries to bid on one of your auctions? Does a message screen appear telling the unwanted bidder that they can't bid on your stuff? Anyway ... to keep on topic ... stick to your guns Kate and don't be intimidated by them - if they persist in contacting you feel it's harassment then you should file a complaint against them with ebay. ^-^ : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : kbmum November 14, 2005, 09:39:40 PM If a blocked bidder bids on one of your auctions, they get this message:
Transaction Blocked Unfortunately, this seller has decided that you are not permitted to bid on their listings. You may contact the seller via the Ask Seller Questions feature if you want additional details. Please note: You may not use other eBay accounts to bid on this seller's listings. Doing so may result in your indefinite suspension from eBay. : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : tialessa November 14, 2005, 11:47:59 PM There's no way I'd agree to remove a strike after that long & with no previous explanation.
I personally have TWO unpaid item strikes for items that I PAID FOR within the timeframe required and received - I have feedback to prove it. Ebay never removed my strikes after numerous emails.... : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : rns91294 November 15, 2005, 12:00:09 AM Don't remove the stike!! Even if the other two did give in, I say you don't. It is not your problem anymore and they should have thought about this 5 months ago.
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : Nienna November 15, 2005, 02:19:06 AM If a blocked bidder bids on one of your auctions, they get this message: Transaction Blocked Unfortunately, this seller has decided that you are not permitted to bid on their listings. You may contact the seller via the Ask Seller Questions feature if you want additional details. Please note: You may not use other eBay accounts to bid on this seller's listings. Thanks for the info Cindy! ;D : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : Sharon November 15, 2005, 02:23:24 AM Another silly question moment - why is the buyer so anxious to get all strikes removed? If the other two have withdrawn wouldn't that be enough to allow them to buy again?
Is it maybe because they want to use the account for business? I really don't know the rules but it just strikes me it would be easier to set up another account rather than faff around with all these Emails. : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : kbmum November 15, 2005, 03:23:51 AM It depends how many strikes she actually has.
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : blackcat20 November 15, 2005, 03:53:58 AM Im assuming the other two strikes were removed, given the first email was addressed to three of us, the second just to me. Maybe he wants it to look like im the only one holidng out, but unfortunately for him its going to stay that way.
Yep, I added him to my blocked bidders list when I first filed the strike, so that there would be no revenge. The only reason he wants the strikes cleared now is so he can do his christmas shopping; so not my problem >:D Another thing about their emails; they are not coming through ebay, but direct to my email address...which means they have either kept my email address for 5 months, or got my contact details from ebay....I dont know if Im so happy about that....plus they dont even sign their emails with their real name, just their ebay name, which happens to have the word "freeloader" in it ::) : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : Nienna November 15, 2005, 04:04:08 AM Well if they've applied for your email address through ebay then you will have been notified surely?
The times when I've had to do it ebay have emailed me the info I've requested and also said that the other ebayer will be notified that I've asked for their contact details. Just a thought ... Five months isn't that long to keep an email address on file ... I keep mine at least as long as that if not longer! ::) Three strikes and your account gets suspended doesn't it? Maybe that's why they're so worried and as you say - not your problem! ^-^ :P : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : blackcat20 November 15, 2005, 04:06:34 AM Three strikes and your account gets suspended doesn't it? Maybe that's why they're so worried and as you say - not your problem! ^-^ :P yep, three, and I was the third, then they were no longer registered... : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : Nienna November 15, 2005, 04:07:29 AM ahhhhhh hahahahaha life's a bummer isn't it!! >:D
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : blackcat20 November 21, 2005, 04:14:06 AM Well, Ive just received another email from my "buyer', this time stating that "their account purchased a base set" between certain dates, and if this item was still available could they purchase it. If not, could I let them know. and ps its not a joke.
Im finding this a very interesting way to go about it-if the transaction was completed, then I would have to remove the strike. :P However, I dont have any of the base sets left, so Im sending them an email, and this is what im saying: "I believe that I recently sold my last POAu base set, however I would have to check when I get home. I realise that this email, and the previous two you have sent me, are not a joke; however, whether or not it was your child that bid on the auction in the first place, it would have only taken an email five months ago to let me know, rather than me having to go to the trouble of filing through ebay, waiting for payment, then finally closing the dispute. Im a full time student with a heavy workload, and I dont have time to be chasing buyers around." does this sound fair? : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : rns91294 November 21, 2005, 04:17:47 AM I think it does.
Now, if you don't have any base sets left, can you keep the strike going? : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : blackcat20 November 21, 2005, 04:20:50 AM I guess so....
should I also mention that there is a reason ebay has a password? : Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : kbmum November 21, 2005, 07:41:36 AM After five months, you had the right to sell the item to someone else. The unpaid item strike should stand.
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : blackcat20 November 21, 2005, 08:20:41 AM Thats what I figured. I sent them the email that i mentioned above, and so far there has been no response. It will be interesting to see what they say if they do reply...
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : ferdinand_the_yak November 21, 2005, 02:45:46 PM I would just ignore them Kate... seems that everytime you reply they come up with increasingly hare-brained excuses/schemes to try to reactivate their account :P
: Re: Unpaid item strike removal request : blackcat20 November 21, 2005, 02:56:58 PM This is actually the first time Ive replied; they are obviously getting more desparate, but im not getting any kinder; Ive pretty much told them no way.
