: HP GoF premiere
: Luluhime November 08, 2005, 02:41:57 PM
Hello there! Some of you may remember me from ages ago....sorry I haven't been around but things have been abit manic recently. Anyways, I'm not sure if anyone has posted pics yet, but I managed to get myself down to Leicester Square on sunday for the premiere. It was such a great experience....I can't wait till I get to see the movie myself!!  ;D I took quite a few pics but alot of then were really rubbish. Not only was it raining most of the time, I wasn't in the best spot and my camera kept eating the batteries. I kept turning it off to save power, but it takes ages to sort itself out once you turn it back on >.< Anywhos...heres some of the better pics I got:

I managed to get a glimpse of Dan and Emma, but they didn't bother coming over to us like the rest did  :( I also didn't manage to get any autographs but I'm not really bothered, just being there was good enough  :D The daylight pictures were taken the day before. In the middle of the square they were setting up a huge scene with a dragon in a cage that breathed fire. However, when the day came they put these big white screens all the way around it so I couldn't see any of the neat stuff  :'( Anyways, they said they start filming the next one in february, so hopefully the next one will come out in 2007...I'm gonna make sure I get to the premiere early for that one so I can at least get better pictures! hehe  :)

Woooo Hooooo!! Thanks for posting the pics for us! ;D
The weather looked miserable and you did well to get any pics of faces rather than brollies - looked like Seamus was enjoying himself though! ;)

Way to go 8). We had a Shacker at the Premiere ;D

Those are nicer than you think! I think you did a great job ;) The rain is probably what made things hardest. If they weren't stuck under umbrellas, maybe they would have posed more :-\ Even though Dan or Emma didn't come down that path, you got to see loads of the HP stars :D

By the way, how could most of us forget you? Hope the manic stuff is getting better ;)

Heh, I think once everyone started arriving, the crowd started putting down their brollies because they were more concered with taking pics! ;D

Yeah, the weather sure did ruin some of it. We were forcast bad weather all weekend, but friday and saturday were fine...it's just typical it had to rain on the sunday >.< But you're right, even though I didn't get close to Dan or Emma, at least I got to see most of them. I don't think it's really hit me yet that they were there, some only about 2-3 foot in front of me...XD As for the manic stuff, it is certainly getting better ;)

Good for you braving the weather ;) We had a Shacker at PoA and now at GoF, I was so jealous when Ben was at ROTK - he was on the phone and went "Oh my God it's Ian McKellen" - that must have been awesome ;) as must this. I really ought to go to one some day - but Ben used to say he got there the night before and stood in a spot for around 24 hours!!! (Doing occasional coffee runs etc), what time did you get there?

We got there at about 3:30pm and it was due to start at 5pm :/ I wanted to get there really, really early...like 9am-ish but we ended up going to the science museum for the morning. It didn't start getting 'really' packed untill about 4:30, but I still wish we had gotten there earlier :)

Why are Rupert and Dan wearing the same red flowers?  Everyone looks really good!  But I don't like the headband Emma has on.  :-\

Totally agree, it would have been nice if it was beaded or had a nice crystal hanging down or something but it was just so plain that it looked odd...

I think Katie Leung looked amazing too, honestly she is the perfect Cho Chang.

Apparently Emmas dress was Vintage (from the 1920s) although not sure about the ribbon myself.

Katie Leung does look gorgeous in that pic, I wish they showed a full length pic of her and her dress. I think Dan though so too by the looks of it ;) Wish I could get my hair like that... but its cursed with the 'dead straight-ness' gene ::)

Yay - Go Aussies!

I think on the PoA DVD in the interviews many of the cast are wearing these.

Great shots and a hearty welcome back as well!!   :)   We here in the United States recognize our Veteran's tomorrow with our Veteran's Day Holiday which is similar to your Remembrance Day as it was at the 11th Hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 that the Armistice was signed thus ending World War I which took such an enormous toll on British and Commonwealth Forces that an entire generation of men was lost.  Our Veterans Groups all over the country hand out poppies to be worn on your clothing as a sign of remembrance and thanks to all Veteran's who have served and especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

: emmafan November 10, 2005, 10:02:54 PM
I very much like emma's dress and it fits if she is going for the "20s bopper" image.  However, the headband was a bit much.  Seems so oddly placed and simple that it makes the costume look like an extra from a robin hood or maid marian style.  Are the flowers that dan and ron are wearing paper or some sort of cheap material.  Maybe its just a little joke the two of them put together.

No no, it's really a charity thing run by the Royal British Legion!!!

Almost everyone in the UK has one and everyone on our news wears one and the presenters on all live TV shows wear them. The only people who aren't wearing them in public now are people frightened of pins (the way you affix this poppy to your lapel).

http://www.poppy.org.uk/

Although as Savage727 and Blackcat20 have pointed out this is not just a British thing, although maybe wearing one on your lapel is not common in America.

It's a mark of remembrance and respect, and definitely not a joke.

I've never heard of wearing poppies here in the US, but if I see one I'll get one.  ;D

: HPfamily November 10, 2005, 11:45:34 PM
I've seen them here before!! Usually the legion(or something like that, I'm not real sure) hand them out.  I usually give a donation to them.   :)

I think it looked cool, kind of 70s hippy...

Edit: I was referring to Emmas headband, not the poppies...I tend to post without realising there is another page after the one im reading  :P

Hi,

back from cinema now.  8)  Well, the movie is very good in my opinion. Okay, it couldn't beat the Azkaban movie, which i really loved, but i was absolutely satisfied when leaving the cinema. :)

But what a mistake.  :o  I guess, it isn't only in the german translation. Hagrid talks to Harry and remembers the moment when he met Harry at the first time before his first year. And then he says "And now, 4 years later ..."  Why 4 years??? It's the fourth year, so it's 3 years later.  ::)  Or do you think, it's no mistake and they chose "4 years" because it was probably more at the end of the 4th year (of the movie), so almost 4 years have been gone since he met Harry. I'm not sure.  ::)

: Re: HP GoF premiere
: Nienna November 17, 2005, 05:20:15 AM
Depends on when Hagrid is talking to Harry in the academic year Thomas, but it does sound as though it's well after the start of the fourth year and into the tasks.
Hagrid first meets Harry on his 11th birthday which is at the end of July in the books which makes Harry one of the older kids in his year group - if he was at school in the 'real' world then he'd be one of the youngest in his year in the Second year ... I believe the cut-off date is 31st August for birthdays in the UK.
I don't think Hagrid is stretching it too much by saying '4 years later' ...

The film isn't released here in the UK till Friday morning, so please don't say too much and spoil it Thomas! ;)
It's going to be tough not saying too much about the film for another few weeks yet as people in Oz/NZ won't get to see it till early December, which is outrageous!! :o :-\

Glad you enjoyed the film Thomas - I'm off to see it at 11am on Friday morning and then again taking Adam with us on Friday evening!! YAY!! ;D

Unless things have changed since I was a nipper, Harry is actually one of the youngest in his year.  My birthday is in August so when I started secondary school I was 11 and one month.  One of my friends in the same year had their birthday on the 1st September and so was actually 12 at the start of term.

I think Hagrid said 4 years as it is film four - makes things clearer for kiddies  ;D

My wife and I went to the first showing yesterday afternoon and enjoyed the movie very much.  Wonderful performances by everyone.  We were disappointed that the Director changed scenes and omitted significant others.  I personally do not like it when stories like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings get changed to suit the fancy of the Director.  These are classic works and do not need anyones intrusion.  Chris Columbus who did the first 2 Harry Potter movies is more to my liking as he followed the books best so far.

I do not want to post too much as many have not seen the movie yet.  Overall I think everyone will like it.   :)
