of course, I actually have two boxes coming in. I bought one for $105 here in the states, but I have to send a money order (blah!) so it won't be here for a bit.

I think you'll find the seller is me!
Roz and some others have dealt with me before so I guess I'm ok! ;D
Didnt realise I'd get free publicity on here, otherwise I wouldnt have let it go for such a good price!
Was originally £89.95 but no-one was buying, so made a great reduction as I am really in need of cash for Christmas!
Bryanjs14 - didnt know you were a member here - we could have originally done a deal on here to save fees, but never mind! Good luck with the box - please post what you get, although if it is a 'hot box' I will probably cry! ;D

Yes, a pretty good box and you got a costume and auto! I'm glad you won it as I'd never have known if it was a hotbox or not!
Would be really grateful if you could leave feedback on ebay when you get a chance, I will of course do the same for you  :)

I just bought my first and only POA hobby box off ebay.  $107 BIN.  What should I do? Open it or save it?  ::)

: Re: POA hobby box on eBay
: Roz December 19, 2005, 05:18:36 PM
Do what your heart tells you :P

(helpful huh?)

Well if you want to make a little collection - one PoA, one PoAU, one SS and one GoF, this is a good time to do it before they all become completely unobtainable, but the most fun is to be had by opening it ;)

: ferdinand_the_yak December 19, 2005, 05:41:00 PM
Open! Open! Open! ;D

I was the same as you Kelly when I got my Lord of the Rings FOTR box... I reasoned to myself that packs are meant to be opened, not gathering dust :)

: cardz_house December 19, 2005, 05:58:41 PM
depends on what your purposes are for buying the box in the first place. but since you asked for opinions, then.......................i say open it!!!!!!!!  ;D

take it as a great x'mas gift!

It would be a waste to let it sit in a corner somewhere.  What if you have an Exploding Bon Bons or variant Honeydukes? :o  Open it! :D

: Anna December 22, 2005, 02:19:19 AM
Good luck with your pulls Kelly!  I hope you pull a nice variant prop card (I pulled one from my very first box of PoA 8) ) , an Emma auto wouldn't be too bad also. ;D

: Re: POA hobby box on eBay
: grecopa December 24, 2005, 04:16:27 AM
Well, I got my POA box today, but I'm not really thrilled with my pulls.  I got a Hermione's black cloak  :P and a Ginny Weasley auto.  Not a total loss, but I was really hoping for any of the props instead.  I'm not a HP auto collector, but I think I'll hold onto it for a while.
I did get the last 3 foils I needed to complete my foil set.  :)  Also, can anyone help me finish off my 2nd base set?  I need #80, 43.  Thanks!  ;D

Kelly, I really didn't need to see this. :P  Will someone please BIN this or submit a Best Offer before I do something I'll regret? :o=  Hurry!

: Re: POA hobby box on eBay

I'd get it if I could :P

Hold back Anna, hold back :o=

Sorry!  I'm done with buying any POA boxes.  Just submit a rediculous price, Anna.  That way you can say you tried, but you won't have to buy.

: Re: POA hobby box on eBay
: Anna December 27, 2005, 10:03:07 AM
Okay Kelly, I submitted my ridiculous offer, we'll see if the seller accepts - not!  ;)

Didn't even look at that.  Wow, he is declining everyone huh?  Maybe we should all make a ridiculous offer.

: Re: POA hobby box on eBay
: Anna December 29, 2005, 12:09:52 AM
Well, did he?

He declined my offer (I knew he would). ;)  But since I've submitted a Best Offer on this auction, I can't submit another one.  Hurray! ;D

I put in a offer to Anna for $88 ($12.50 shipping seemed a little high to me and I don't believe that included insurance at least it didn't say it did).  He declined my offer and said he thought his price was just right as he had sold one for $107 or something earlier.  Well you would basically have to get one of the really low props or 3 or 4 top auto's to make it worth the money (unless you also need the base set and some foils).  But it is fun to open the box just for the thrill, but to much for my blood.

Oh and of course it could be a dud >:()

   Your offer was higher than mine, I only offered $75. ;)  He sent me the same response about someone else paying the price before.  The last PoA box I got (from a different seller) was a dud box, so that's why I've given up on getting them. :P

: Re: POA hobby box on eBay
: rns91294 December 29, 2005, 04:22:00 AM
If he wanted to get it for that price, then why list a submit best offer link at all???

: Re: POA hobby box on eBay
: beckham1 December 29, 2005, 04:30:29 AM
There are much better values out there then a POA box, although I wouldn't blame anyone for taking a shot.  Even though there was only 500 cases your odds of pulling an insert that is worth more than $100 is tough.  Although there are some great props and auto's you can pull.

: Re: POA hobby box on eBay
: grecopa December 29, 2005, 06:17:18 AM
Yeah, you got that right.  I'm glad I got one last week just because I never did get to open one when they came out.  If it hadn't been for my $15 off Ebay coupon, I wouldn't have taken the chance.  BUT-it would be so awesome to pull one of those rare props, it's tempting!

: Re: POA hobby box on eBay
: beckham1 December 29, 2005, 01:17:14 PM
Those low #'d props are about as hard to pull in this set as they are in SS for the letter props, devils snare, etc.  Although most of you wouldn't know how tough the low # props in SS were to pull...Well Anna and I sure think they are

I think the candy props from POA lost a little value with the Wizard Candy prop from SS.  I was looking at the scans and pics from POA and it is funny to think how incredible we thought those were, now we are so much harder to please |:#

That is so true!  We loved the POA set because it was the first one with inserts, but if Artbox released something similar now, we'd be very disappointed.  Although, I think the GOF set was a bit disappointing. :-\

: Re: POA hobby box on eBay
: rns91294 December 29, 2005, 09:57:21 PM
Actually, I am still a fan of the first set, but like kbmum said, because it was the first set.

As for GoF, I find it a bit disspointing as well, but yet, I keep buying more cards ::)

: Re: POA hobby box on eBay
: Roz December 29, 2005, 10:44:22 PM
True, GoF is startlingly similar to PoA. I think GoF Props were dissappointing. The costumes brought us one of each of the champions, no Ron (sadly) but otherwise a good set.

The autos were great. It's a shame the best were just repeats but many of us were glad of another chance to get those autos, Brendan Gleeson and Miranda Richardson were great too. Krum was good but it was a shame they didn't get other champions.

The prop set just didn't cover any new ground.

: rns91294 December 29, 2005, 11:25:23 PM
It was nice to see the big signers again, and I love the pistureo n the dual auto this time around, but Roz, two champions signed, Krum and Cedric!!

: Re: POA hobby box on eBay
: Roz December 29, 2005, 11:43:23 PM
True true, but it would have been nice to go the extra mile and have all 4 ;)

: Re: POA hobby box on eBay
: rns91294 December 29, 2005, 11:45:02 PM
I bet the update will have Harry and Fleur.  But I agree, it woul dhave been nice for all four to be in one set.
