In London - Viggo Mortensen turned up there (apparently - before being swamped by fans... as though ginger hair and beard and a baseball cap could be used by him as a *disguise*).

But there was all sorts - costumes, the one ring (one of them) videos of footage I hadn't seen before (including Viggo bending his sword back into the right shape after putting a few Uruk Hai in their place), the models art by Alan Lee and the gang and SO MUCH MORE!


Not forgetting the opportunity for you and a friend to be scaled against each other - for a moment I was a Hobbit and Mark a wizard... and a moment later it was the other way around!

I am there for sure - its only a few minutes away from where I work.
Viggo turning up??? Sigh, now I'll have all these expectations which will totally be dashed as no actor will turn up here... actually, maybe Hugo could pop over... I wish :-[

Great news for you FTY!!   :)  I feel the same way as the Exhibition is coming to Boston, Massachusetts starting August 1st.  I have tickets for the first opening on Sunday morning August 9th and can't wait.  I do not expect to see any stars especially a week after it opens and especially on a Sunday morning.

Mark & Roz had told me in detail what they saw and did when the Exhibition was in London so I am just thankful it is in a place I can get to although I will have to drive about 2.5 hours to get there.  This is the only location in the United States that is going to have the Exhibition!!

The prior two were held in Toronto, Canada which I did not know about until after I joined eBay near Christmas of last year.  That is when I started finding out about allot of things!!   :)  I do not know why they did not hold the Exhibition there for the final show?  

Lucky you Ed... though it must be a pain driving there. Its good for me that I live in Sydney and most major events like this will take place here.
Now no running away with Aragorn's Anduril, I really want to see that - or will have to chase you with Legolas' bow and arrows  ;)

That would work for me too!!   :)  I am looking forward to the gift shop and seeing what kind of LOTR's items they will have available for sale.   :)

Yes, I'm saving my money now. Hmmm... so I have PoA update, LOTR autos and now a LOTR exhibition. I foresee dark times ahead, very dark times for my bank account. A shadow and a threat has been growing in my mind ;D

He hee - the bad news guys is that you are spoiled by ebay - they won't probably be able to offer you much more than you can get there but I expect there will be some exclusives to get you drooling :)

They may also have a bucket of ROTK Update cards and you can sift through them for clothing cards - I believe people in London did very well out of cherry picking there  >:(

I feel the same way as in addition I collect the Decipher LOTR's cards as well and the newest set Mt. Doom comes out almost the same time as Topps ROTK Update!!   :)  I wish they would give us collector's some breathing room between releases as Decipher released their Reflections set in May!  

Oooh... I hope so, that will be the first time I have seen LOTR Topps cards for sale here in Sydney

Roz - they had a bucket full of Topps cards including costume cards!!  Did you get any?  Did you hear if there were any auto cards in there?

Heh - we should be so lucky - I think Mark told you the price it was per pack - we bought a few on the off chance of an auto but HEH!

Some eeeeevil cheery picker (me no? we would never cherry pick *cough) got there first - I have a sneaking suspicion it was Gimli  :P

Yes we could cherry pick precious - it cost 2x as much per pack as a Sam costume was going for at the time!!!

But no luck - and we sifted through at least 100 packs (it was embarassing) - PLUS we got no autos in the packs we did buy - woe is us!

I will let you know if anything like this is available at the Boston show.  Now why are you picking on poor old Gimli!   :)

I'm just teasing - the only self confessed cherry picker I know is Goofyjas - got 2 TTU Arwen clothings  :o

Roz & Mark - what was your favorite part of the Exhibition?  I know that's a hard question to answer because I am sure you loved it all.  I really liked the photos of you both as a Hobbit and Gandalf sized people.

I just think that its a pity they don't allow photos - why is that by the way? just imagine if Hugo or David was walking around - there goes one missed photo op!

Hey Mark & Roz:

Did they say to you why no cameras were allowed in the Exhibition when you went?  I would be interested in hearing the explanation you were given.

As law abiding members of society we didn't even question these rules... we simly asked if it was ok to take a pic of the entrance argonaths and they said "yes but not inside the exhibition please"

When I go I will ask why no photographs are allowed inside and post what I find out here.   ???

Thats right Ed, you go in there and do your scary Aragorn with the aviator goggles thing! Hopefully that will scare them enough to let people at future exhibitions take photos *cough Sydney in December cough*

Oh great FTK!!  If I show up there looking like that I will be arrested and put in a straight jacket and taken to the mental ward at Mass General Hospital!!  Plus the media will broadcast my picture worldwide to show what a nut showed up to the Exhibition!   ;)  Then when the show gets to your neck of the woods there will be real security and no one will get in unless they mutter the secret password - but just don't get confused like Gandalf did at the Gates to Moria!!  Remember "Speak Friend and Enter"!!   8)

LOL, you had me rolling with that image there... Aragorn with his goggles in a strait jacket and being sent to a mental institution! ;D I reckon you'd be ok if you took your Flame of the West in there and borrowed Shadowfax from Gandalf. Then you can whistle when it got to hairy with security and safely escape on your noble steed (oops, wrong movie) and making a lovely silhouette in the sunset, sword, rearing horse and all ;)

Alternatively, you could act like a normal non-photo taking visitor - but that would not be as fun ;)
