: Threshold : Geek Boy November 01, 2005, 08:03:19 PM This starts in the UK on Sky One next week (Wednesday the 9th I think). People see a pattern and then become infected with a deadly virus? Sound like The Ring to me. Hmmm...
Anyway, Brent Spiner (Data in STNG) plays a scientist of some sort but it looks pretty good. Anyone else planning to watch this one? : Re: Threshold : rns91294 November 01, 2005, 10:59:50 PM I am in the US and have been watching this for several weeks. I also watch Surface and Invasion (two other alien shows) and think this is the one I like the least....but I still like it.
: Re: Threshold : beckham1 November 01, 2005, 11:15:18 PM It is tough to say if it will be good or not in the long run. I like it so far, but we will see where it goes. I have also been watching invasion and I would give them the same rating, it just depends where the plot goes.
I have not seen surface, is it the best of the 3? I can only take so much alien sci fi so I picked these 2 out of the three, hope I didn't leave the best one :-\ : Re: Threshold : rns91294 November 01, 2005, 11:37:59 PM I think Invasion is probably the best of the three. I only like surface because I am actually getting hooked on the characters, and the "alien" as it looks like an enormous lizard, and I am a huge reptile fan. The "alien" lives in the water, but a kid found an egg, hatched it, and is raising this thing. Right now it is the size of an iguana, but I have seen the adult in the water, and it is larger than the largest whale. Just a different show over the other two is all.
: Re: Threshold : sketchqueen November 01, 2005, 11:42:43 PM Brent Spiner plays the medical doctor - former NASA microbiologist - he is wickedly caustic and I love him so much more than when he played Data ...
But, then again, I'm addicted to the show already - have Tivo'ed Surface and Invasion but haven't started watcing them yet - figured I'd save them for when something else I'm watching gets axed :) : Re: Threshold : Eve November 02, 2005, 12:00:09 AM I really love THRESHOLD. I think it has the best ensemble cast, and Carla Gugino is really a strong lead. So far, I see the most potential for future story lines with THRESHOLD as well. I don't care for SURFACE much, and although I like INVASION, missing a week wouldn't kill me. So, there you have it. ;D
: Re: Threshold : zero November 02, 2005, 12:56:37 AM I think Invasion is probably the best of the three. Right now it is the size of an iguana, but I have seen the adult in the water, and it is larger than the largest whale. Just a different show over the other two is all. I love Surface, too. I started a thread somewhere wondering if anyone watched it. I haven't gotten into Threshold or Invasion ... I didn't even get to watch an episode :-[ Anyways, I like Surface for the same reasons you do ;) Plus, I never know what's going to happen next and what not. We have the last two episodes (if one was on last night) taped ;D : Re: Threshold : rns91294 November 02, 2005, 01:23:24 AM No, it was not on last night, so you didn't miss anything. I guess maybe I am not super thrilled with Threshold is because it was the last one I got in to, and I only started watching it because it is after Ghost Whisperer, which I really enjoy.
: Re: Threshold : sketchqueen November 02, 2005, 01:37:35 AM See now - I can't stand Ghost Whisperer :( I see it as a poorer version of Medium - which I love mostly because of the true-to-life relationship with the hubby and kids ;) And because Patricia Arquette is not outstandly beautiful and not outstandly over-the-top smart - but she is perfectly.... average.
That, and that Hewitt girl irritates me for some reason... : Re: Threshold : rns91294 November 02, 2005, 01:47:22 AM See, I am the opposite. I love Medium, but i think Ghost Whisperer is much better. Two episodes made me cry, which is enough for me. I have loved every episode, where Medium I could go with out, and some episodes just don't get to me like they should. I also don't like Patricia Arquette, ever since she was in A Nightmare on Elm Street when she was younger as Alice. But I do enjoy the show..... As for Jennifer Love Hewitt, she is okay, but not the best for the part....I just like the shows concept.
I hate this time of year because there are 2-4 shows a night that I watch. I can't take all the TV!!!!! : Re: Threshold : sketchqueen November 02, 2005, 03:54:24 AM *lol* That's so true! There are of course shows that only I watch (Veronica Mars, Commander in Chief) and shows that only my husband watches (Battlestar Galactica, Stargate Atlantis - I have to watch them for work so I don't watch them while they're airing) and then there are the shows we both watch - anything CSI, Threshold, Supernatural, Cold Case, and on and on and on. It's just amazing the Tivo hasn't blown up yet - I still have last season's finale of 24 on it to watch!
Hello. My name is Joanna and I'm addicted to television. Oh well, could be worse I suppose :) : Re: Threshold : rns91294 November 02, 2005, 04:00:14 AM Luckily, my husband and I seem to like the same shows. House, Amazing Race, Survivor, Those I mentioned above, Lost, Prison Break (love that one), the OC..it is pretty bad.
Hello, My name is Sara and i am also a television addict ;) : Re: Threshold : kbmum November 02, 2005, 04:00:43 AM I don't care much for Ghost Whisperer -- to me, it's a cross between Medium and Touched by an Angel. I just don't care to watch shows that make me cry week after week after week. I do really like Medium, and like Joanna, I think Patricia Arquette is perfect for the role. Commander in Chief is good, too!
: Re: Threshold : rns91294 November 02, 2005, 04:03:47 AM I wanted to watch Commander in Chief, but it is on the same time as House and Amazing Race. I already need to tape one and watch the other, and I don't have TiVo or DVR to do this. Still an old fashioned VCR.
I enjoy Ghost Whisperer especially when it makes me cry because it is something different than all the other shows I watch. Medium seems to be that one show I constantly forget is even on.......don't know why. : Re: Threshold : zero November 02, 2005, 06:21:14 AM Hello! My name is Mike, and I am a television addict, as well. Here's what I usually watch:
Mondays - Surface Tuesdays - Amazing Race Wednesdays - nothing really, maybe Martha's Apprentice ... but I can say I really don't like this one. Thursdays - Survivor and Apprentice ... although I haven't watch an entire season, yet :P Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays - nothing really :-\ (right now, there's college football, but I'm only rooting for Penn State ;)) I also regularly watch Judging Amy on TNT Primetime in the daytime or something like that, and Rosanne on Nick at Night almost every night, and I admit to still watching some of the Disney Channel Shows :P If we had The WB like I did when I was in college, I would also be watching Charmed, Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, Smallville, and Everwood ^-^ : Re: Threshold : thor November 02, 2005, 06:41:32 AM Hi!My name is Wendi and I am also a TV addict :)
I tried to watch Threshold when SG1 and Atlantis were on hiatus but I just couldn't get into it :( However I do love to watch the following: Monday: Nothing Tuesday: NCIS and Amazing Race (NCIS isn't as good as the other two years though :() Wednesdays: Nothing Thursday: Will and Grace and CSI Las Vegas Friday: Firefly, Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis (My favorite night especially when new episodes are on :D) Saturday: Nothing Sunday: Cold Case (this show is so sad sometimes) ...and like my brother I watch TNT (mostly Law and Order and Charmed reruns though) and I do watch the Disney Channel to on occasion, I like some of the shows :-[ ::). I forgot to add Firefly to my list on Fridays :o I tend to pull out the DVD and watch it instead so I don't have to deal with the commercials ::) I'll just go add that to my list now thanks Sci Fi cards for reminding me with your list ;) : Re: Threshold : rns91294 November 02, 2005, 11:21:34 PM Since we are listing TV now, here is my list:
Mondays: Surface, Prison Break, Medium (and Las Vegas if Prison Break is a repeat) Tuesdays: House and Amazing Race Wednesday: Lost, Invasion and sometimes That 70's Show Thursday: Survivor, The Apprentice, The OC Friday: Ghost Whisperer, Threshold Saturday: Nothing. Woo Hoo!!!!! Sunday: The Simpsons, War at Home, Family Guy, Charmed Pretty sad, huh? : Re: Threshold : grecopa November 03, 2005, 03:36:13 AM Ok, I'll hop on this thread too. ;)
Mondays: Mostly Fox News after the kids are in bed. If that isn't interesting I'll watch (in order)The History Channel, Cops, Animal Police, or a movie if I can find a good one. Tuesdays: The Amazing Race Wednesdays: LOST Thursdays: Survivor then The Apprentice Fridays: Same as Mondays. Saturday: College football (SEC mostly) Sunday: Pro football (Jaguars by choice, anything else if I can't get our game) : Re: Threshold : rns91294 November 03, 2005, 04:43:17 AM Oh yeah, forgot about football on Sundays!!! I watch that too.
: Re: Threshold : Scifi Cards November 03, 2005, 05:30:05 AM Well, around our house we record everything on the DVR and then watch without commercials. 8) I couldn't stand to have 'normal' TV any more... Around here we record:
Mondays: Surface, CSI: Miami Tuesdays: NCIS, Supernatural Wednesdays: LOST, Invasion Thursdays: Survivor, Alias, Smallville, CSI Fridays: Firefly, Threshold, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica, Ghost Whisperer Saturday: Veronica Mars (research for upcoming Inkworks card set) Sunday: DVR recovery night... When we watch them all is anybody's guess. I get more TV time when there are new releases to open and sort. Ed : Re: Threshold : Eve November 04, 2005, 12:33:43 AM I watch
Sunday - Desperate Housewives Monday - Arrested Development (VERY UNDERRATED COMEDY)!!! Tuesday - House Wednesday - Lost/Invasion Thursday - Kolchak(nothing else on...) Friday - Threshold Saturday - nothing... :) : Re: Threshold : rns91294 November 04, 2005, 01:19:14 AM Man, I forgot about Desperate Housewives!!! I watch that too. Sunday is a busy day for me.
: Re: Threshold : Eve November 10, 2005, 03:39:23 AM Threshold is moving to Tuesdays, at least temporarily beginning Nov. 22. >:()
: Re: Threshold : beckham1 December 16, 2005, 11:36:44 AM I appears Threshold has been cancelled :-\ I am a little disappointed as I wasted all that time watching and will just be cut off with no answers >:() That is what I love about reality TV it will have a season ending as most are already done filming. ALso Alias is canceled and they will finish out a few episodes and that is it >:()
: Re: Threshold : kbmum December 16, 2005, 07:35:23 PM We weren't too happy, either, that Threshold was cancelled. I miss the days when the networks would actually stick with a show for an entire season to see if it would develop a good following. If shows like Cheers and MASH were starting their first seasons now, they both would have been cancelled after a couple of months. :-\
: Re: Threshold : Sharon December 17, 2005, 02:12:00 AM I was so disappointed this has been cancelled, we have only just got it. So it will be another show like Tru Calling, Dead Like Me and Space Above and Beyond where we will never know what happened >:(
In the UK they have started killing shows before giving them a fair chance. If they had done this in the olden days we would never had seen further episodes of Blackadder, Fawlty Towers or Only Fools and Horses (although I wish we hadn't seen the last two series of Only Fools!) : Re: Threshold : Geek Boy December 18, 2005, 06:58:39 AM Threshold cancelled? What, already? Are you kidding? Blimey, US genre shows last about as long as English football managers these days.
Dammit! I was really enjoying that show. Why don't they ever give things a chance? So many great shows have been cancelled in the past, whatever happened to the days when they would run for 7 seasons like all the Star Trek spin offs? Or is that just becuase Paramount had tons of money and basically payrolled their own shows? We haven't had Surface or Invasion yet but I guess they will go the same way as Threshold eventually. I can't believe that. The 4400 gets a second season and Threshold gets cancelled half way through it's first? Well my TV schedule runs like this Stargate SG1 (I love the show but even I think 9 seasons is way beyond what was originally expected) Stargate Atlantis The 4400 Hex (UK version of Buffy set in a private school and a LOT more adult) Nip/Tuck Threshold (not for much longer obviously) Lost (you see, I don't get how they can spin this along for several seasons) Is the X-Files to blame for all these short lived alien shows? Did it outstay it's welcome? Did it recycle too many ideas and leave all the rest with no fresh ideas? |
