Do you reckon he will show up though?  The last few things he had booked in this country he bummed out on.  I think I read somewhere that if Christopher Judge is not with him he doesn't show up.

I hope I am totally wrong though and someone from the Shack gets to see him - say Hello from us  ;D

He is appearing at the London MCM Expo on Sunday 30th October, so if he's there for that show he will probably be at Derby

That is so cool and I hope whoever is going gets to see him their and he doesn't cancel. :o=

He did cancel cons before due to a family emergency with one of his daughters and another time due to season 8's filming schedule conflicting with the con he was supposed to attend.They are filming season 9 right now so my fingers are crossed that the above doesn't happen again for the people who want to see him. I wish I could see him at least once but do to my financial situation I enjoy reading other peoples experiences on meeting him.

I read that him and Christopher Judge were a lot of fun to see when they are together though but they also said how great he was by himself  :)

I am a big Michael Shanks fan so if he does come and someone from this forum goes please come back and post a report I would love to read how it all went. ;D

I just thought I would pop on in case anybody wanted to know why Michael Shanks cancelled going to Derby. On another forum I am on concerning the actor himself it stated that Michael Shanks went to LA for an audition. It has recently been announced in the last few days that he will be guest starring on CSI: Miami sometime in November and he started filming for it this past Friday night  ;D I prefer CSI Las Vegas but I will definitely be checking this episode out when it's on  :) He also cancelled Wolf SG-10 this weekend, another convention, due to filming conflicts but if anyone was wondering if this would affect him being on seasn 10 of Stargate SG1 (Like me  :-[) he called the convention from LA and had this to say, "that they now have Stargate SG-1 Season 10 and he was "looking forward to it."  ;D I hope this means he will definitely be in season 10  :o=

He plays Doug Stets - Boyfriend of Valerie Neff, the woman who was raped 6 years ago. He also ends up a suspect in the rapists death. Doug is a landscaper, he also worked in construction several years ago. (There is a flashback scene of him at a construction site (wearing a hardhat) showing a large beaming falling from above and shattering his shoulder.)


I feel bad for the people who are going to these conventions to see him but I am also happy that he is getting auditions for other roles because sadly Stargate will end someday but at least I get another season before it maybe does end  ;D

I am probably going to get shot for this, but I will start off by saying I am a Michael Shanks fan.  But.......

He really needs to start honouring his commitments.  I am no huge convention fan but even I knew the chances of him showing up were pretty slim.  I am not saying filming commitments are not important but if he has no intention of attending these shows, he shouldn't allow the organisers to use his name in the publicity.  Mr Shanks would do well to remember that it is purely due to fan pressure he is currently in Stargate at all - he really needs to start thinking about these fans.  If he doesn't want to attend shows then fine, plenty of other actors choose not to.  But he really should stop say he is going when he isn't.

I don't have the money to go to conventions and if I did I would be upset also if he didn't show because I would only ever go to one of these events to see him or David Hewlitt. Your right also the fans did help big time in getting him back on the show, but I also got to say thank you to him for even wanting to come back  :) I did hear that he wants to reschedule the Wolf 10 convention for another convention to make up for canceling so that's sweet of him to do.

To tell you the truth I absolutely love Michael Shanks, but if I ever could go to a convention I would go to one with him and David Hewlitt because Hewlitt actually takes time to write back to fans who write to him even if you have to wait 9 month s later  :rofl: and anyone willing to do that is worth seeing in my book.  :)
