: Is there anything I can do about this? Please help : Bryanjs14 October 14, 2005, 10:41:35 PM I had an ebayer purchase a large lot of charlie and the chocolate factory cards from me back in August. They were nothing but base cards and there were over 6000 of them.
He claims he sent two sepeate payments, the first in the form of a money order, then a personal check. I have received neither to this day. He could of course simply check to see if either of them were cashed, and there is no way they could be. He has called me on the phone and left threatening voice mails, and the one time I did catch his call he threatened me and told me "this will never end" and, If I am ever in Florida I have your address and I will come and beat the **** out of you. Well now I just found out he is e-mailing anyone who purchases an item from me on Ebay and telling them I am not to be trusted and that I just keep the money and never send an item. I am having buyers e-mail me now to confirm that the item they bid on will be sent ect ect. I have even had two people try to back out of a transaction now because of this member. Is there anything at all Ebay can do about this? Has anyone ever encountered something like this before? I have dealt with many shack members as far as sales go and I am pretty sure I have always had positive experiences with them (if not, please tell me lol) This is just all really stressing me out. I just listed a ton of things on ebay and now I am worried that because of this buyer, I will never sell anything. Anyone have any ideas of what I should do? : Re: Is there anything I can do about this? Please help : sixpence33 October 14, 2005, 11:24:26 PM I would report him to ebay immediately and tell them exactly what he is doing. Also reporting him to the police would be a good option(especially if he has verbally threatened and slandered you. What is his ebay name anyway?
: Re: Is there anything I can do about this? Please help : Roz October 14, 2005, 11:32:32 PM I don't know this guy but I don't think we should discuss his name or ebay ID here!
If he sent a personal cheque surely he can tell if it's been cashed? The guy sounds furious for him to have genuinely sent payment twice and clearly believes that there's a fault in your service Bryan, I really think you should be talking to him calmly about it. : Re: Is there anything I can do about this? Please help : LikORish-Spider October 15, 2005, 01:33:06 AM Bryan, tell him to send you a photostatic copy of the cashed check and money order. Even offer to pay him a couple of dollars to cover the costs of the copy. If he can't produce the check then you have him over a barrel. If he does produce the check then there is another, maybe worse, problem. What? You mail is being pilfered and checks and money orders are being removed. Do you have a mail box that is accessible to the public? If so, hint-hint, invest in a local Mailbox, Etc. or other private mail receiving outfit. Regardless, your ability to sell is being impacted. And worse, when people who don't know you see the feedback report that you have on ebay it doesn't inspire confidence.
: Re: Is there anything I can do about this? Please help : Bryanjs14 October 16, 2005, 05:40:42 AM I won't mention his ebay name here Roz, but I suspect if a couple members of this forum win any items from me they will be getting an e-mail from him. I did report him to Ebay but I have not heard back from them yet. I told him exactly what all of you said, if you send a personal check, you can see if it was cashed. It was after that e-mail to him I started getting the phone calls from him around 3 in the morning. Now I just turn my cell phone off at night.
My mailbox is at the end of my driveway, but I have NEVER had any kind of problems with people taking a check. Heck, the amount for the cards was only around $70 with shipping....I have had much larger amounts come to me in the mail and received those fine. : Re: Is there anything I can do about this? Please help : Nienna October 16, 2005, 06:11:17 AM Well I can honestly say I've never heard from this particular person Bryan and if he does contact me at any point in the future, then I'll be inclined to ignore him.
I don't want to get involved in any disagreements or nastiness between the two of you - that's for the two of you to settle - as it's none of my business and it's better it's kept that way. I'm sure we'll all be interested to hear what eBay have to say about him and if he continues to harass you then I'm sure the Police should be involved - think of your own safety and that of your immediate family in all of this and don't take ANY risks! John made a valid point about the accessibility of your mailbox though and it doesn't harm to have a back-up plan should you find your payments are being intercepted. Did he send you a photocopy of the cashed cheque and money order then Bryan, or is he just being abusive? : Re: Is there anything I can do about this? Please help : Bryanjs14 October 16, 2005, 07:10:05 AM He has confirmed nothing. When I e-mailed him requesting him please simply check to see if the check or money order had in fact been cashed, that is when he requested my information from Ebay and began calling me.
I may just go ahead and purchase a P.O. box at the closest Post office....I believe they are only about $60 for a year which is very reasonable. I have not received any phone calls from him lately, but if he ever does call me back, I may record the call with one of those little personal recorders and give it with his name and number to the police here in town. : Re: Is there anything I can do about this? Please help : Nienna October 16, 2005, 04:20:15 PM I think getting a P O Box is a good idea Bryan - at least you will know your mail won't have been tampered with and for the sakes of spending $60, the peace of mind you would get would be worth it IMHO.
It's a sad state of affairs if you are forced to record conversations because of threats and abuse, but again you must take it seriously and make sure your local police have something on file about it. I suppose he will be emailing the auction winners at the end of your latest auctions, so if any Forum members win one/or many of them then we'll know to be on the lookout. ;) Please keep us informed of any developments Bryan. :) : Re: Is there anything I can do about this? Please help : Sharon October 16, 2005, 10:53:00 PM He has confirmed nothing. When I e-mailed him requesting him please simply check to see if the check or money order had in fact been cashed, that is when he requested my information from Ebay and began calling me. Bryan was it Ebay who gave him your phone number? If it was I think that it outrageous. When I signed up with Ebay I thought (and I bet everyone else does to) that any information is confidential and not given to third parties. Very worrying :( : Re: Is there anything I can do about this? Please help : Roz October 16, 2005, 11:10:33 PM He has confirmed nothing. Please help : Bryanjs14 October 17, 2005, 09:26:23 PM Roz is correct.
If you have a transaction with anyone on Ebay, buying or selling, you can request that user's information. You get thier full name, e-mail, number, zip code, as well as a couple other things. I have a HUGE favor to ask any Shackers who DO end up bidding on my auctions. If you are contacted by this member, PLEASE FWD me the e-mail. Ebay has requested that I forward to them any e-mails that my buyers recieve from this seller, that way they have actual proof he is doing this. I assume he e-mails them through the Ebay system. So Nienna (I know you have a couple bids in) and anyone else (sorry if I am not familiar with your Ebay name) please FWD me any e-mails you recieve from him, if in fact you do win and recieve anything from him Thanks. |
