I usually don't go for widevision or autographs, but that Chewbacca auto is too cool. 8)  I may take a closer look at this set.  If you find out more about who's signing, please post.

I know what you mean, you have to buy very weird 6 page pockets and somehow it looks all wrong, but if they get signers on a par with Heritage we will all be blown away ;)

Orders are due this week, and apparently Topps wants us to send them some money on vague promises and hints about what might be in there that would be worth the money.

i would like the chance at pulling an auto in retail packs. since i buy retail generally. i would be happy with any auto's. they could even get the janitor to sing a bunch to make it one auto a box. :P

I saw a picture of  a Sam Jackson autograph somewhere from this set, has anyone else heard anything?

Yes, some information (including some wrong information) showed up on starwars.com yesterday!

Jackson (Mace Windu), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Michael Kingma (Tarfful), Matthew Wood (General Grievous) and Amy Allen (Aayla Secura) amongst others
These collectible autograph cards, as well as one-of-a-kind Artist Sketch cards for Revenge of the Sith collector card series, will be inserted randomly into hobby packs, due to be released this September.

Looks like there may be 2 different sets of chrome chase, one for hobby and one for retail, but not too likely that autos will be seen in the retail product.

No mention of insertion rates yet, but I expect this to be somewhat better than Heritage (poor odds) and Batman Begins (somewhat better odds) but nowhere near the 1 auto per box that most of us were hoping for.

In my opinion, if those are the only signers this set is going to BOMB, two of the three new actors to sign aren't exactly HUGE actors. The only cards that will be worth anything will be Samuel L. Jackson (which will be WAY overpriced) and Mayhew...who signs for almost every set and is slowly decreasing the value of his signature. I wish Topps had the pull to do costume or prop cards like Artbox. I would buy CASES upon CASES to get a Padme outfit card or the Emperors cloak or dare I say an ACTUAL piece of Vaders costume. My prediction is that this set (with it's $30 something a box price) will be JUST like Batman Begins. One autograph per case, and my guess is that Sam Jackson odds will be around what Hammil was for Heritage

Well this set is supposed to be more about autographs, I haven't heard anything about costumes or sketches (correct me if I am wrong).

This is one of the most highly anticipated sets of the year, and Topps haven't let me down with a set whilst I have been collecting so I have some level of faith, but unlike Ed here I don't have to put my money upfront now without any details

Roz per your post above Eds info says there will be sketches also.  That scares me, I would guess a 1 per case auto ratio, if it was more I would think the box price would be higher and I think a lot of people were PO'd after ROTS and those crappy sketches.  I only bought one box so I would have a base set and hoped for a good sketch, but nooooo :(  I must say I certainly hope for better things, but I am sure there will be lots of preorders so auto's will probably be tough, I wouldn't think any of the auto's other than Jackson would cost much on ebay, but I am not a Star Wars expert by any means.?.? 

Do any resident Star Wars experts have any ideas how much those auto's will be worth on the secondary market?

Where? I've not heard anything about sketches.

The mention of sketch cards was in errory by www.starwars.com.  There will be no sketches in this product.

This is one of the problems you have when you rely on sources other than the manufacturer to provide information on a product.

I would treat this as a rumour a this point, but this was posted on the Topps message board:

That would make the Jackson auto 1 in 117 boxes, or 1 in nearly 20 cases.

This information supposedly came from Topps Customer Service, but not directly to me so take it for what it's worth.

One in every 2 boxes for the autos seems a lot better but the odds for Jackson don't really surprise me :(

I don't think it's very reliable info myself, but who knows. if the cards are going to be sent out soon why not list the odds already. >:() i saw in ebay auctions that one said ships Oct 5th.

why can't they put in all (retail and hobby) costume cards or such, they have to have stuff leftover, janitor's mop, lucas' coffee cup, 'blue screen', etc.

if i can find a box for $30, and feel like it, i might pick one up, but any more and  :P. i'll just get some packs. how much are the packs going to be if the boxes are under $40?

Spent all week opening Star Wars cases - hobby and retail. If anybody needs anything, drop me an email. I have everything available except the Jackson auto, which has already found a home. Sets, promos, chromes, flix-pix, autos...

I opened four boxes of WS, don't waste your money if you want the autos buy them.

Oh yeah my bitterness is because I didn't get 1 auto >:()  My local guy opened the case and gave me the four boxes on the bottom row, so it shouldn't have been that bad, unless all four autos for the case were in the top four boxes, but I find that hard to believe.

I have read lots of breakdowns and many people are getting 2 autos in a case.  Of course on the flip side a few have pulled 6 and 7 in a case, but it seems much more likely you will get 2 or 3 per case.  Considering the pack says auto odds are 1:48 that seems like a bunch of bull (*$^#%#(*$&$^ >:()

And just think of all the people who complained about Batman, at least you would get a costume card in each box even if you only got 1 auto in the case.  With SW if you don't get the auto you are screwed.

... don't get too chummy with Batman though - I love the set personally, but I did get a case with no autos at all! (and no "good" costume so it was a pricey passtime opening that one!)

Yeah I had pretty good luck with my Batman case as I got Katie Holmes and Gary Oldman, and autos were pretty tough.  Neither of the two common costumes are worth much and I didn't get a chestpiece, but at the same time I would much rather have the chance to pull Katie Holmes, Cillian Murphy, Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman and Michael Caine.

The flip side is Sam Jackson and Mayhew which will sign anything for his claim to fame, and 2 characters with small roles and a guy you don't even see his face in his role (and IMO the only reason his cards is worth anything is it is tougher than the other three.

So I certainly see your point, but I think we would all agree Batman is a much better product overall.  And I am sure it cost topps a few $'s to get the Batman signers VS 4 of the SW autos were probably cheap to acquire.   I just wish they would take the SW license away from Topps for doing such a bush job.
