finaly after 2 years of saving money and selling everything i didn`t need  ::) except my little brother  0:)  i have now everthing i need for my new 300 Liter tank.

If someone has interest, I make small photo story in the next days.

I plan a Africa-Kongo Aquarium

Those are some really cool looking fish Valerie. 8)  I'm glad you didn't have to sell your little brother to be able to get your aquarium. ;)

I've never seen anything like those first 2 fish.  How big do they get?

The Buffalohead 3-4,5 inch and the Upside Down Catfish 3-4 inch.

The fish are very interesting. I have found some ( english ) text for you

"Steatocranus, commonly known as the blockhead or buffalo cichlid, comes from the Congo River Basin, where they make their home in fast flowing streams. This is how the fish developed its unusual swimming style, because of the fast water current, it has an under-developed swim bladder and swims in a ‘jerky’ movement, much like a goby. The name Steatocranus casuarius refers to the large lump on the males head, the translation of its name says fat-skull-helmet (steato-cranium-cassida)."

:) That would be outstanding to see your aquarium and fish. When my dad was alive he use to have two 500 gallon tanks filled with angelfish, silver dollars, and suckermouths(bottom feeders that would stick to the side of the tank) The fish were a joy to watch and a real relaxer when one of us had a bad day. ;)

Nice display Goofyjas!  My 2 year old immediately spotted "Nemo" and family.  :rofl:  Isn't salt water a lot harder to keep though?  That's what I've heard.

Goofyjas is that little tank stuck on the side the nursery?  I seem to remember when Dad had a tank he had a little floating box to stop the bigger fish eating the babies.

Yes Congo is fresh water and the water equivalents in Africa are the same as my water equivalents from the tap (funny but true, maybe our drinking water is imported from Africa  ??? ) so i should not have problems with the fish.

yes it is, I have a few frags in there and I also but my shrimp in there when she is prego ( she had her babies last night)

Salt water isnt harder to keep really, more expensive yes but IMHO it looks better :)
Like an hour a week or so of work is all.

That is my baby there, mind you the pics were in june the tanks looks so much different.

Those are some nice fish, you planning on adding more? ( 300 liters is how many gallons? ) I could shoot you some good ideas if you are stuck on what fish you want :P

I think 300 Liter = 79 Gallon, but hey i only have a small dwelling and no palace  ::)

My parents have a 180 gallon salt water tank :o  It takes up an entire wall of their home.  They have Nemo, and Dory...and boy, that fish is just as dumb as in the movie.  Now I know why they made the character of Dory that way  :rofl:

Anyway, Valerie, I have loads of experience with fish.  I have had many tanks, different kinds, and worked at two different pet stores as well.  I can tell you that those Cochlids are extremely territorial.  In fact, I have a cichlid right now in my tank, and nothing else.  Why?  He killed them all.  My Mom has the same situation with one of her fresh water tanks, and it is a different cichlid.  Once they get their territory, if you add new fishies, chances are, they will not survive, unless you change all the scenery to make them think they are in a new tank and need to mark a new territory.  Unless you got cichlids that are not aggresive, but it was my understanding that they all were.  I didn't want to tell you this, but I wanted you to at least know that they can be very aggressive.  Of course, that doesn't mean that they will be  :D  Oh, and they usually get pretty big as well.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.  Sinc eyou introduced all fish at the same time, you should be fine.  Just wanted to give you a heads up for when you add more.  Make sure you ask the people at the fish store what you can add, and if there is anything you need to do before adding a new fishy.

Goofyjas, that tank is amazing!

Oh, and the Cichlids are very pretty.  Neat looking fish....  The one I have is a jewel cichlid, named Harry. 

Last week I filled the tank with water  :)
