: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tea_and_Fruit September 09, 2005, 11:24:38 PM I bought some "sealed" Charmed boxes from a ebay seller.
Normaly a box contain 4-5 Chase Cards and a Pieceworks Card. Got the boxes today and opened them. No box have a Piecework Card :'( and out of the three boxes i got only 4 Chase Cards and 3 Basic Sets. I take a look at the wrapper and noticed the boxes have NO Inkworks Logo. First i thought that the older Charmed boxes have no Inkworks Logo on the wrapper but then i look for pictures in other "sealed" Box auctions and see that this series have the Logo on the Wrap. So this boxes were resealed. Now i have lost a lot of money and think i cant use the Paypal Buyer Protection or is there still a chance to get the money back? It would be great if someone could help me. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : grecopa September 09, 2005, 11:35:20 PM Could you put up a link to the auction? Did they say "factory" sealed?
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tea_and_Fruit September 10, 2005, 12:23:36 AM http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6202013461&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1
Anna bought a resealed box too http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=219&item=6202406821 If you take a clooooooooooooooose look you can see that every box have no Inkworks Logo : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : rns91294 September 10, 2005, 12:27:46 AM Something is wrong here. The Inkworks seal is on all their boxes. I just got a Charmed Conversations box and it had the right logos on it. These boxes are all resealed. Did you email the seller? Did you tell Anna? I would file a complaint, although, he did not say facotry sealed, he just said "sealed", which technically they were, but you would not have bought them if you knew. I would try it. It can't hurt to try.
You must have been so upset when opening them. And I know if Inkworks says one per box, They mean it. They are very good with their products. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tea_and_Fruit September 10, 2005, 12:37:50 AM Anna know this. We buy together from the seller, but she left positive feedback after she recieve the boxes.
Can someone help me with the mail to the seller? : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tower September 10, 2005, 12:44:34 AM You should definately email the seller (or more). I could help you, but i think, it would be better if somebody with a better English would help you. ::)
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : rns91294 September 10, 2005, 12:58:15 AM You could say something like:
Hello, I received the three boxes of Charmed Connections that I recently purchased from you. They arrived in good condition. However, I am aware that Inkworks inserts 4-5 foils per box, as well as 1 Pieceworks card per box. As I opened these, I only found 4 foils, and no Pieceworks card at all! Upon closer inspection, I realized that the wrap used to seal these boxes was not the wrap with the Inkworks logo on it, as all Inkwork sealed boxes have. I am very dissapointed by all of this, as I bought these boxes for the chance to get some rare cards, and had I known they had been re-sealed rather than factory sealed, I would not have bought them. Please let meknow if there is anything you can do for me to compensate for this. Thank you for your time.... Or something like that. Then, if you do not get a response, or a pleasant response, I would file a complaint with eBay for selling an item that came not as described. If anyone has any other suggestions, please feel free to add them, or let me know if what I said is not good. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : LikORish-Spider September 10, 2005, 01:02:15 AM I won 4 boxes from this seller. They have not arrived yet. When they do I will be checking for the security wrap logo. It it is not there I'll e-mail him/her for an explanation and ask for a refund. I'll post the results of both the condition and the e-mail response here. If this seller thinks he/she is being "cute", he/she will be rudely awakened if about a dozen Yak Shakers leave Negative feedback at once. I have never left negative feedback, I guess I've been lucky.
One thing I did notice is his/her advertisement says he/she bought the stock of an out of business card shop. The out of business shop may have done the re-sealing and he didn't notice it. However, if he/she is an honest seller a refund should be made. Just my opinion. he/she, him/her, his/her: I am an equal opportunity/equal rights critic. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : rns91294 September 10, 2005, 01:05:49 AM Are you expecting them soon? With this knowledge, you know you might not want to open them if they do not have the sealed logo on them. Yeah, this guy is not looking so good. Did Anna's box contain anything?
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Sharon September 10, 2005, 01:07:56 AM That is so awful. Yes technically it doesn't say factory sealed, but the implication is the boxes are untouched. I have seen auctions for 36 packs of cards, but then you know they are not from a sealed box and have been cherry picked.
Graham had something similar a while back, I think it was with the Farscape Through the Wormwhole. There were hotboxes that were labeled on the inside flap of the box. The boxes he received were sealed but someone had slit the wrapper very carefully to look for hotboxes. In this case the seller would do nothing, he now just avoids them. >:() rns91294 I think that is a great opener to see what they say :) he/she, him/her, his/her: I am an equal opportunity/equal rights critic.: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tower September 10, 2005, 01:09:24 AM To be honest, i would say that i feel defrauded. And that i can't accept to get defrauded. Then i would say that i don't know if it's the fault from the seller or if the seller got defrauded too. But i would let the seller know, that i expect any kind of refund now. Of course i would say it in a friendly way ... ::)
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tower September 10, 2005, 01:11:21 AM I have seen auctions for 36 packs of cards, but then you know they are not from a sealed box and have been cherry picked. Yes, that's the difference. To sell cherry picked packs in a re-sealed box is fraud, nothing else. That's my opinion. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tea_and_Fruit September 10, 2005, 01:11:59 AM ok then i try the text from rns91294
and maybe Anna can write the seller too. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : rns91294 September 10, 2005, 01:15:01 AM I agree. i think it is fraud too. I have seen auctions for sealed boxes that state the boxes have been resealed. At least you know what you are buying. But to be fair, the seller might not have known. You could add:
Please let me know if there is anything you can do for me to compensate for this, as I feel I been mislead as to the contents of these boxes based on your auction description. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : LikORish-Spider September 10, 2005, 01:16:37 AM Are you expecting them soon? With this knowledge, you know you might not want to open them if they do not have the sealed logo on them. Yeah, this guy is not looking so good. Did Anna's box contain anything? I definitely will not open them. It would ruin my claim. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : rns91294 September 10, 2005, 01:17:39 AM ok then i try the text from rns91294 and maybe Anna can write the seller too. Please keep us informed on this. I agree that this is wrong. We all know to look at the way boxes are sealed for now on, but he advertised it as if they were sealed, and to not pull a single pieceworks!! I think the packs with foils in them also feel a little "tighter", so these boxes were definitely cherry picked by someone >:() : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tea_and_Fruit September 10, 2005, 01:20:04 AM I have sent the mail. Lets wait if the seller answers.
Many thanks to you for the text ;) : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : rns91294 September 10, 2005, 01:23:55 AM I have sent the mail. Lets wait if the seller answers. Many thanks to you for the text ;) No problem ;D I am just happy you were happy with it!! : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tea_and_Fruit September 10, 2005, 12:14:56 PM Got a answer
Hi, Sorry you had trouble with the boxes. I wasn't selling factory sealed boxes so there is no telling what you might get. Go ahead & open the other 2 boxes & if you don't get the pieceworks cards I will go out & buy them for you if you want me to. Let me know how it goes. Thanks So he is definately selling cherry-picked boxes. And now? I mailed him that i have not get even one Pieceworks Card. Is there a chance to use the buyer protection? He did not wrote that he sells re-sealed boxes in the description ??? ??? ??? : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : LikORish-Spider September 10, 2005, 01:21:07 PM Thanks for putting his reply on the Forum.
I just sent him the following e-mail by way of the ebay system: Sir: I won and paid for the following four auctions: Topps FOTR Trading Cards HOBBY Box Item number: 6204879115; Topps FOTR Trading Cards HOBBY Box Item number: 6204879302; Topps LOTR THE TWO TOWERS Trading Cards HOBBY Box Item number: 6204880115; Topps ROTK Wave 1 Trading Cards HOBBY Box Item number: 6204881854. I have carefully read the descriptions and looked at the picture in the auction description. I am under the impression from the description that these are factory sealed boxes. I have not received the boxes as of today. A friend of mine has told me that she has received boxes from you as well and the boxes seem to have been cherry-picked. I would rather not even open the boxes and just return them directly to you for a refund. I believe it only fair that the item be accurately and fully described. Please advise me if these boxes are not factory sealed. Thank You, John W. Martin I'll let you all know what he says. John : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : kbmum September 10, 2005, 05:33:10 PM His auctions say sealed boxes. He is most definitley playing games with the difference between sealed and factory sealed, and worded his auctions accordingly.
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : canny19 September 10, 2005, 05:40:43 PM The seller said that he would by the PW cards that are missing.
I think he knows how much they are!!! I think that was very craft for them not telling them. Although the descripion didnt say that they were sealed, on the connections ones, thats not the point! Chris : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : grecopa September 10, 2005, 07:58:53 PM I don't know much about PW cards, but is he going to buy you cards worth the same or more than what you paid for the boxes? I still don't like that option. It sounds fishy.
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Anna September 10, 2005, 11:03:53 PM I also wrote this seller about my boxes this morning. Here's what I wrote:
Hi Ken, I’m writing to you in regards to the auctions that I won from you. I have already left you positive feedback on the 4 items I won, but I wanted to let you know that I was very disappointed with the hobby boxes that I won from you. Out of the 4 boxes I won, all Inkworks, 3 of them were resealed boxes, not factory-sealed. The two Charms Connections boxes (#6201428834) that came with binders did in fact contain pieceworks cards, but the packs were repackaged in such a way that only two base sets were able to be made, normally the collation is better. The boxes also only had only 2 foil chase cards apiece, where normally there are 4-5 each. The Scooby Doo M&M box (#6202406821) did not have any Sparkly chase cards or an auto in the packs, only base cards and stickers. The Catwoman box (6202398871) did have the factory-sealed wrapper, but there wasn’t a pieceworks card in the box, so I contacted Inkworks about the missing pieceworks card and they are sending me a replacement. Since your auctions stated that these items were purchased by you in a liquidation sale, I wanted you to be aware that the boxes you are selling have been picked over and resealed. Had I had know these boxes were resealed and not factory-sealed; I would not have bid on your auctions at all. The box I’m really upset with is the Scooby Doo box, because $36.69 is a lot of money to spend for some base cards and stickers. Is there a way you can somehow partially compensate me for this box, since now I have to buy these inserts that should have been in the box? Sincerely, Anna I will let you all know his reponse when I receive it. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Nienna September 10, 2005, 11:44:40 PM Good Luck to all of you over these auctions. :'(
I've been appalled over what this seller has done and I'm sure Cindy is right over how carefully he's worded the auction listings! >:() Please keep us informed when you hear anything fresh. ;) : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Anna September 12, 2005, 07:11:22 AM I received a response back from the seller and this was his reply:
Some of the boxes had print on the wrap & some did not. I rechecked the pictures on the scooby doo box you spoke of & it was plain to see that it did not have the printing on it so it was not factory sealed. If I need to compensate you for something just let me know what it is & how much. Thanks So now my question is this, what is a fair compensation for this box? ??? The box did contain two complete base sets and 2 full sets of stickers, but no autograph or sketch card. I believe the sketch cards are very rare and that most likely I would have only pulled an autograph had the box been factory sealed. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : grecopa September 12, 2005, 07:35:01 AM Who knows? Would you feel right asking for the moon - a Sketch and an auto? And which sketch and auto would you base your compensation price on anyway? Maybe he could refund you the money minus the price of the 2 base sets and stickers? What a huge can of worms. :(
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Scifi Cards September 12, 2005, 10:05:37 AM Unfortunately, I'm not sure that this box was much worse than many factory sealed boxes. I've opened 3 boxes of Scooby Doo M&M and have yet to pull an auto or a sketch. I checked Jeff Allender's site and the autos were 1:62 packs and sketches were 1:85, meaning I've just had plain bad luck. >:()
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/allender/scoobymm.htm But, to be fair, since it was not factory sealed you were robbed of your fair odds. Not to mention the 5 Sparkly cards you should have gotten... No guess as to what would be fair compensation on this. That is a very tricky call. Ed : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : beckham1 September 12, 2005, 12:13:50 PM Wow, I also won a box from this seller, but haven't paid yet as I am trying to get a confirmation on if I can get insurance. By the way John thanks for outbidding me on about 3 LOTR boxes (:D# Well I will be curious to hear if your boxes have the logo seal on the wrapping. Just judging by previous auctions I have seen that were resealed it seems that most of the time the seller is aware of what they are doing, I guess you should give the seller the benefit of the doubt, but I've been burned before.
Here is the auction I won http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6204883981 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6204883981), I guess I need to send the seller an email and make sure it has the inkworks logo on the wrapping or maybe i can pay sellers fees and get out of it. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tea_and_Fruit September 12, 2005, 01:28:52 PM Recieve a response
If you want I can try to buy you a few pieceworks cards to make up for it. Let me know & if so just send me your address again and sorry for the trouble I decided that i want a refund and no PWs. So what would be fair? I paid 150$ with shipping to germany for 3 Charmed Boxes and only get 5 Foil Cards + 3 Boxtopper Cards. Can someone here help ne with the mail again ;) : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Sharon September 12, 2005, 06:36:01 PM For what it is worth I have just re-read this whole thread and am convinced this seller knew exactly what they were doing. In the reply to Tea and Fruit they distinguish between sealed and factory sealed boxes. How many non-card people would know the difference? IMO this seller was just trying their luck and hoping uninformed people bought these boxes.
I would have a go at a complaint note for you but I tend to rant a bit :-[ Maybe something like: Thank you for your reply. I have considered your offer of PW cards but would rather have some form of monetary compensation. I originally paid you $150 for these boxes and would be grateful if you could let me know how much you are willing to refund. Please bear in mind that out of the three boxes I only received 3 box toppers, 5 foil cards and no other chase cards. The odds for this set are.................* * Maybe you could put a link to the manufacturers website here. I look forward to your early response I am afraid I am a little bit sharper than rns91294 and to be honest her wording will probably get you a better result. But good luck - this seller needs to learn that they can't rip people off, especially Yak Shackers :) : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Scifi Cards September 12, 2005, 07:45:27 PM Wow, I also won a box from this seller, but haven't paid yet as I am trying to get a confirmation on if I can get insurance. I don't know if it's any consolation, but the Alias box in the picture IS a factory sealed box. The Inkworks logo is visible on that one. Still not sure I'd trust this guy, but that one looks legit. Insurance will probably double the shipping cost on that one for an international shipment. Unfortunately, the US Postal service is VERY lacking in options for insuring international packages. But the other two are dark colored boxes and the blue topps logo doesn't show up in the pix on the dark background. I'll keep everyone posted. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Anna September 12, 2005, 09:54:14 PM I received a response back from the seller and this was his reply: Some of the boxes had print on the wrap & some did not. The box did contain two complete base sets and 2 full sets of stickers, but no autograph or sketch card. I believe the sketch cards are very rare and that most likely I would have only pulled an autograph had the box been factory sealed. Per John's advice, I looked up some current eBay auctions to help me determine a fair compensation. This is what I wrote back to the seller: When I saw your auctions, I was under the impression that the boxes were factory-sealed because you did not state in your auctions that they weren’t. In general, it is assumed that the box is factory-sealed unless otherwise specified in the auction. Since this set is older, I was unaware that Inkworks had placed their logo on the shrink wrapping. I usually buy Artbox hobby boxes, and they just recently started putting their logo on their wrapper a few months ago, so I thought the Inkworks wrappers were the same, a new addition. I’ve looked on eBay and found an auction that has base sets and sticker sets. The asking price is $5.95, so since I managed to put together 2 sets of each, that total would be about $12.00. http://cgi.ebay.com/SCOOBY-DOO-MYSTERIES-MONSTERS-Card-Set-Stickers-PROMO_W0QQitemZ6207472328 The box also didn’t contain any Sparkly chase cards and I found a set that has an asking price of $9.95, but I’m aware that you normally wouldn’t complete an entire set from one box. http://cgi.ebay.com/SCOOBY-DOO-MYSTERIES-and-MONSTERS-SPARKLY-Chase-Set_W0QQitemZ6208396937 I paid you $36.69 for the box but there wasn’t an autograph inside. The lowest price autograph I could find is for $27.58 http://cgi.ebay.com/Scooby-Doo-Mysteries-Monsters-Susan-Blu-A3-Auto-Card_W0QQitemZ6173018332 So after looking at these auctions, for compensation I would like to request a refund for the amount of $20.00 from you. If this is agreeable to you, please refund my PayPal for this amount. Sincerely, Anna I will let you all know if I get a refund. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Nienna September 12, 2005, 10:33:04 PM Good luck on getting your refund Anna - I thought you were more than fair with the compensation you requested form him! ;)
There are definitely Topps logos on all the boxes in the listing posted by Beckham, even the FOTRU box - I can see just the one on the Cave Troll's left shoulder!! :P Same goes for the Alias box, but the others ... hard to say. :-\ I tend to agree with Sharon that this seller knew exactly what they were doing and how to word the auctions to catch out the unwary! >:() Lousy git is about the cleanest thing I care to say about him ... >:() Please keep us posted won't you? ;) : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : beckham1 September 12, 2005, 10:44:36 PM Jules you beat me to the punch. I totally agree if you look at most of the auction pics you can see logo's on the boxes. So that leads me to believe one of two things:
1) The seller knew what they were doing and posted pics of boxes that only had logos 2) The seller was not aware of the issue and it is just luck of the draw with the box you get (and the seller did have more than one box of many of the boxes listed ie. there were 3 alias season 3 boxes listed) Ed I am in the US so insurance shouldn't be more than $1.30 for $50 of coverage if I hear back on that I am going to email the seller about the seal. Also I will be interested to see if a seller I just bought three boxes from who charged $10 shipping priority mail from Alaska (seems a little high) per box. He said he would refund me some shipping after he sent the package. So I was charged $30 for shipping 3 boxes. I am a little concerned about this one, and will be a big rip off on shipping if I don't get like $17-$20 back from the seller. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Bryanjs14 September 12, 2005, 10:49:24 PM Not sure if it is the same in Alaska, but I know for a fact that the USPS makes a $7.70 flat rate priority box that can fit up to 6 Harry Potter POAU boxes, so it should fit 3 non sport boxes pretty easily. I use them all the time. You should mention that to him and request $20 or so back.

I actually like what Sharon wrote. it is too the point. If you didn't send it yet, you might want to ad: I really like the thrill of opening my own boxes and being surprised of what cards I pull. If I wanted to just get the PW cards, I would have just bid on them on my own. Is there any way you could compensate me for these auctions, minus the cost of the base sets that i was able to compile? Thanks! Again, keep us posted. Shame how many people bought from this seller. ? The two Charms Connections boxes (#6201428834) that came with binders did in fact contain pieceworks cards, but the packs were repackaged in such a way that only two base sets were able to be made, normally the collation is better. The boxes also only had only 2 foil chase cards apiece, where normally there are 4-5 each. Anna Anna- I just opened a sealed Inkworks box and only got 2 base sets. I am about 8 cards shy of a third set. Is this not normal : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tea_and_Fruit September 12, 2005, 11:35:05 PM 2 Base Sets per Box are ok. I think that is normal for a Inkworks product
I ask the seller for a refund instead of the Pieceworks. :o= : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Nienna September 12, 2005, 11:46:22 PM Dave - Just make sure your Alaskan seller isn't off hunting moose when he sends your boxes and leaves them for a 'friend' to do it for him!! :o
He used that one on me nearly two years ago when I dealt with him - best excuse for making a muck-up on sending stuff I think I've ever heard!! ::) Oh, and while I think about it - push him hard for your postal refund too. He was supposed to send me a FOTR base set as compensation for making such a mess and I never received it and got fed-up emailing him ..... so he didn't get any kind of feedback from me. :P Needless to say, I haven't bothered dealing with him again, which is a shame as he had some really nice LOTR costume cards for sale when many didn't have them. :-\ *pft* his loss ... I bought them elsewhere! :P : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : kbmum September 13, 2005, 12:11:22 AM Not sure if it is the same in Alaska, but I know for a fact that the USPS makes a $7.70 flat rate priority box that can fit up to 6 Harry Potter POAU boxes, so it should fit 3 non sport boxes pretty easily. I use them all the time. You should mention that to him and request $20 or so back. According to my post office, the $7.70 flat-rate box is good for Alaska, Hawaii, and APO/military addresses. Even if he used his own box, three boxes shipped priority would not come up to $30. Dave, when you receive the package, make sure to check how much the postage cost before you open the box. If it isn't listed (like when a label is printed through PayPal), weigh the box. You'll be able to go to USPS online, and with your zip code, the seller's zip code, and the weight, you'll find out exactly what it cost to ship. Then, as Jules suggested, you'll have the proof to push hard for a refund. Insurance will probably double the shipping cost on that one for an international shipment. Unfortunately, the US Postal service is VERY lacking in options for insuring international packages. Insurance for international packages is ridiculous. I had a buyer in Australia ask about insuring a card. The only way to do it was to pay $14.50 to ship International Parcel Post plus $1.85 to insure the item worth up to $50. (Parcel Post is the only USPS shipping method that allows insurance on international packages.) The whole package weighs 2 ounces. :-\ Global Priority Mail is great for $5.00, but it cannot be insured. I tend to agree with Sharon that this seller knew exactly what they were doing and how to word the auctions to catch out the unwary! >:() The sad thing is, I wouldn't say that any of us are unwary. We're all pretty sharp about this sort of thing, and often post about questionable auctions to warn others. Until now, I thought it was reasonable to assume that if an auction says a box is sealed, that means factory sealed. There are plenty of auctions for re-packed boxes, so someone -- be it the seller or the person/business from whom he bought the boxes -- purposely removed the packs with pieceworks and resealed the boxes. My bet is that the original owner did this to fool whomever was buying the contents of his/her business. If one were buying a huge lot of boxes, that person might not take the time to check every single box for a factory seal, never mind that some boxes (like POA) have clear shrinkwrap with no logos. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Anna September 13, 2005, 01:17:20 AM Anna- I just opened a sealed Inkworks box and only got 2 base sets. I am about 8 cards shy of a third set. Is this not normal Valerie is right, you should get 2 complete base sets from an Inkworks box although they only guarantee for one complete set. :) : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : beckham1 September 13, 2005, 01:26:54 AM I actually had a situation where I bought a box of sports cards and the seller had bought out someones inventory. I got the box and low and behold the box was resealed and all the cards inside were just base cards that were loose inside with some paper surrounding them so they wouldn't make noise if you were to shake it.
Luckily the seller refunded my purchase and he had told me that he had many people with the same problem. Luckily he was a good seller and probably lost his butt on the deal when he bought them. Jules I will keep on top of this seller and believe me I will make sure he refunds me at least $20 of the shipping if not I will wait til the last day and leave him some negative feedback. It really bothers me when people try to make money on shipping, if it is .50 or .75 no big deal, but when people charge $10 for shipping a box and it cost $5 that is crap. I once had a seller who charged me $4 or $5 for shipping and sent it in a regular envelope with a .37 cent stamp, that po'd me a lot. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : grecopa September 13, 2005, 01:44:02 AM Sellers who try to make a profit off shipping are really just shooting themselves in the foot. I don't mind someone tacking on a bit for packaging and ebay fees, but ripping someone off on shipping is just not right. They would make more money with repeat customers than they make with high shipping rates and one time buyers.
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : ferdinand_the_yak September 13, 2005, 07:02:59 AM I hope that your LOTR boxes are sealed John... please let us know! It would be such a bargain if they were...
I didn't know that you were branching into LOTR as well John! Is taht master set itch setting in again? ;) : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Sharon September 13, 2005, 05:46:39 PM Just for info. I waded through this sellers feedback, which on the whole is very good. But in January they got a negative from a buyer who complained they had received a re-sealed box. The seller left a reply which said something like the advert didn't say factory sealed so tough. This wasn't the first time they have done this :(
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : rns91294 September 13, 2005, 09:29:04 PM But, if the descritpion says sealed, everyone is led to believe factory sealed. If they are re-sealed, they should say just that.
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : sketchqueen September 13, 2005, 09:46:48 PM "Sellers who try to make a profit off shipping are really just shooting themselves in the foot."
hmm... I make a profit on shipping, but generally that's because I give away stuff and only charge for the shipping, but round up - So, if I'm offering a single *free* promo card that'll cost 60 cents to ship, I charge $1 (helps to cover envelopes and such) -- but, I *am* in fact, making a profit by doing that ... Guess I always knew I was *evil* deep down inside -- tee hee hee... ;) : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : rns91294 September 13, 2005, 09:55:15 PM I don't mind the slight increase sellers do with shipping. I understand they might be trying to cover the listing fees, or PayPal fees. But it does bother me when I see someone saying $5 for a trading card when it only costs under $2 (or less) to ship it. It is the same with video games. They cost about $2 to ship, and sellers have $7, sometimes more as their shipping charges!!!
When bidding on an item, I make my max bid what i wouldbe willing to spend, with the shipping charges already figured in to it. So sometimes, with the high shipping charges, you are really causing people to bid less than they normally would.... : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : grecopa September 14, 2005, 12:45:51 AM "Sellers who try to make a profit off shipping are really just shooting themselves in the foot." Sketchqueen, are you a Slytherin? I'm just joking! I don't consider .40 a profit. I would think of it as compensation for time spent packaging up and mailing the item. I charge $2 to ship one of my charms. But that includes ebay fees, paypal fees, postage and packaging. I end up making about .9 "profit" but I don't think my customers really would be upset about it. ::) But what if I charged $5 for shipping? $3 additional profit on each charm? Sounds great, but my customers would go elsewhere.hmm... Did someone got a response from the seller? I still wait :o= Can we do something (Ebay/Paypal) if he do not response? : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : kbmum September 14, 2005, 05:36:01 PM Your possible actions depend on how you paid. You can file a claim through PayPal to get a refund, or for non-PayPal transactions, you can file the complaint through eBay under "report an item not received or not as described."
You can also report a fraudulent seller to eBay Safe Harbor. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tea_and_Fruit September 14, 2005, 05:46:05 PM I have paid via paypal.
I thin ki will wait till friday. If the seller did not response till friday. I will contact paypal. But i have problems to write the complaint in english. ::) : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Anna September 14, 2005, 09:51:14 PM Did someone got a response from the seller? I still wait :o= I haven't heard back from the seller either. I'm waiting with you. :o= : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tea_and_Fruit September 14, 2005, 09:53:48 PM So lets wait till friday :o=
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : rns91294 September 14, 2005, 10:18:25 PM Wait until Friday, and if you need help, let us all know. If enough people complain about him, you should all be fine with getting your money back....I think anyway.
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : LikORish-Spider September 15, 2005, 04:46:40 AM I don't know because the boxes have not arrived as of today.
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Anna September 15, 2005, 05:58:45 AM I don't know because the boxes have not arrived as of today. The first two boxes with binders took 2 weeks for delivery (won on Aug 15th, arrived on Aug 31st) because the seller said he had a family emergency. He mailed the other 2 boxes that I won a week later together with the other stuff. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tea_and_Fruit September 15, 2005, 11:40:41 AM Got a 50% refund ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Wooohoooooooo : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : blackcat20 September 15, 2005, 11:59:31 AM congratulations, thats better than nothing!
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Sharon September 15, 2005, 03:57:52 PM Well done ;D It is no more than you deserve. From now on I will email all sellers to get them to say the words factory sealed in an Ebay email. Fingers crossed Anna gets a good result as well. :)
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : LikORish-Spider September 15, 2005, 08:47:55 PM Let me tell you a little story. I bought 2 "Factory Sealed" UK case of HP POAU cards, at a bargain price. (Ah, yes, the proverbial bargain price.) As luck (?) would have it neither of the cases had case topper cards. .......Ummmm,I wonder why? (Indeed) I wrote the seller and he informed me that he had bought them form a dealer in the UK who was in need of some $$$; he said he got them for a "bargain price" and was happy to pass on the savings. To make a long story short, my seller did send me two case topper cards. All is well that ends well. ....Ummmm, or is it.
I opened the cases and begain to break down the boxes. The box breakdown was pathetic. In the two cases I got 3 autograph cards and very few other premium cards. Now, we have all broken down boxes from cases and we know that 3 autos in two cases is terrible. One could leap to some dark conclusions here. (:D# Let me paint you mine. (Hindsight is always 20-20, right?) Let's say for discusions sake that, in this case, UK dealer X 8) (Not to single out any particular country, it could have just as well have been USA dealer Z. 8)), buys 100 cases of POAU cards. He opens the cases and after a few he determines that there seems to be a certain, more or less, predictable pattern in the way cards appear in the box layout in the case. :o Of course, all of the case toppers are carefully set aside. After a few dozen cases he has set aside the boxes he feels less likely to contain autographs, props, filmcards and costumes. To be sure, the pattrern is not totally perdictable. Anyway the dealer puts 50 or 60 boxes back into cases and reseals them without putting in a case topper. Ooops ;D He calls his distributor and says....oh for example :'( :'( , "Hello, Dick, say, I've bought a few more cases of POAU than I needed. Do you suppose we might work out a refund or credit on my next purchase...." Well, the deal is made. ;D And before you can say, "Bob's your uncle." , here I am spinning dark sceanarios....Just call me older and wiser. The question arises, who is at fault? Answer, Me...."stupid is as stupid does". those who do not profit from history are doomed to repeat it. I never buy re-imported cases of cards (from anywhere). : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : kbmum September 15, 2005, 09:16:03 PM If you're told that the cases are factory sealed, what else are you supposed to believe? You didn't do anything wrong, John. Somewhere along the distribution line, someone took advantage of you and probably others, too. If the original dealer is the person I suspect it to be, you weren't the only one to get cheated.
I guess it comes down to buying only from dealers you trust (which can be hard for someone who's new to card collecting). I've had a terrible run with some bad sellers over the past few months, and now I won't take a chance with a seller who isn't recommended by someone here, unless the price is so low that it's worth taking a chance. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : rns91294 September 15, 2005, 09:55:06 PM Valerie, I am glad you got some of your money back. Better than nothing. I meant to ask though, did you get any autos in those boxes?
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Tea_and_Fruit September 15, 2005, 10:08:36 PM The boxes were from the Charmed Connections series so they dont have autograph cards.
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Anna September 19, 2005, 11:39:29 PM I still haven't gotten a reply back from the seller. :-\ John, have you received your boxes yet from him?
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : rns91294 October 04, 2005, 03:24:54 AM Anything new with this?
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : LikORish-Spider October 04, 2005, 10:33:58 AM I still haven't gotten a reply back from the seller. :-\ John, have you received your boxes yet from him? I got four boxes. Three were Factory sealed. One was not. He elected to ignore my request to do anything about the one that was not. It had been definitely cherry-picked. It had no foils or premium cards at all. Some of the packs were partially open at the end to reveal the contents and some packs were even ripped. It's his lose, I'll never buy from him again. Which is no big deal, because as you all know I'm not a big spender anyway. ;D : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : grecopa October 05, 2005, 03:37:38 AM No, you're a real cheapskate!
: Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : kbmum October 05, 2005, 04:54:39 AM I hope you're going to leave him negative feedback, John. The seller deserves it for what he did to you and a lot of other people. It does make you wonder how many people bought from him and didn't realize that their boxes had been cherry picked and resealed.
Was the seller's ID videopsycho? I just want to double check so I don't go near his auctions. : Re: Problem with "sealed" boxes : Anna October 05, 2005, 07:05:56 AM Was the seller's ID videopsycho? I just want to double check so I don't go near his auctions. Yup, that's the sellers name. >:( |
