: Bogus ebay emails! : grecopa August 25, 2005, 02:05:51 AM I've gotten 3 messages that look like official ebay messages. The buyer wants to know why they haven't received the laptop they paid for and threaten to report me to ebay if I don't respond. Well, I don't sell laptops. When I click on the email link to the "supposed" auction, it prompts me to log in. It all looks very official, but please DON"T enter your ebay info from one of these emails. Always go to the "My ebay" tab on the ebay home page and check your messages from there. This one nearly got me. :) Kelly
: Re: Bogus ebay emails! : kbmum August 25, 2005, 04:47:27 AM I got one yesterday from a "seller" claiming that I didn't pay for an item. The item number was legitimate (I entered the number directly on the eBay site), although I hadn't bid on the item, never mind won it. The link looked as if it was from eBay. I put the cursor over the link, and it showed that it went to a different site. ::) I guess the scammers are at it again!
: Re: Bogus ebay emails! : Morningangel-Iola August 25, 2005, 04:55:33 AM Should forward these to ebay so they know about them.
(love spongebob by the way Cindy ;) ) : Re: Bogus ebay emails! : kbmum August 25, 2005, 05:10:05 AM Thanks, Dawn! :D
I already deleted my email. :-\ I don't like leaving that stuff in my inbox. : Re: Bogus ebay emails! : Anna August 26, 2005, 09:20:00 PM I received 3 of these e-mails claiming to be from SafeHarbor (one was from SafeHarbour) this morning and I reported all of them to eBay. All 3 were confirmed by eBay as spoof mail. Be careful people!
: Re: Bogus ebay emails! : Sharon September 03, 2005, 02:29:17 AM I got my first Ebay Spoof-Mail yesterday ;D
Why am I so happy? Because I knew exactly what to do with it thanks to my fellow Shackers. Ebay have confirmed it is a spoof and are investigating further. So thanks to all the great info here I have not been ripped off - hence the happy face ;D : Re: Bogus ebay emails! : Morningangel-Iola September 03, 2005, 02:34:55 AM Thats great Sharon ;D
: Re: Bogus ebay emails! : Nienna September 03, 2005, 02:44:08 AM I forward EVERYTHING which is supposed to come from eBay to their spoof@ebay.com address as a matter of course - if it's the real deal then they'll write back telling me it is, if it's not well it's gone to the proper place to be investigated!
As soon as I've forwarded the email I delete it from my computer ... nasty things ... The same goes for the spoof Paypal ones too, no matter how official they look ... *blows a wet raspberry at them* .. so there! :P Glad we were of help Sharon! :-* |
