OK this is what I'm considering getting my Dad for Christmas... in black though - more sober, after all he doesn't want to actually look like a walking advert for the Swiss "army"  :rofl:

It's a stapler, hole punch and all those other things you need when opening your post and buzzing around the office (a knife that's reliably sharp, a pair of really decent scissors, a magnetic staple remover (although of course my Dad never makes any mistakes so why would he need to remove a staple ;)?) , and a bunch of other exciting officey type things.

I've always been a fan of all things by the Wengerna guys (swiss army folk) I think their penknives are ingenious and are always as much as I ever need out in the wilds - I know some people use leatherman knives but they cut themselves more often and use them for DIY too ;).

My Dad is a big pen fan, and has a very nice pen, but he also likes to make everything around him as he works "just so" - the best etc... so what do you think?

OOOO that's a nifty gadget Roz -  I vote for getting it for your Dad. ;D

Have you actually seen one and had chance to look it over to see how well or badly it's made?
I know that might sound heretical because the Swiss Army Knives have always been synonymous with excellence, but I wondered if their high standards are maintained on ALL their items or not - this particular gizmo isn't what you would normally associate with them which I why I ask?
Personally I would love one of them -  I already own one of their all-pupose knives and think it's great! ;)

Well it looks good to me. At christmas I got a lovely pink swiss army knife its great but a bit girly and doesn't have one very important attachment a bottle opener! Which I really needed while I was away ::)

I walked past a window display of them in the High Street today and it's got me thinking ;) yes I know it's early for Christmas but it spreads the cost out if you buy as you go along, you aren't rushed and you know you have thought it through and try to get the right thing - or at least that's the plan. There are always those "difficult to please people" who get left til last ;)

The whole thing is quite big - around 5 inches perhaps? Maybe a little smaller - but I thought it was compact and nifty.It was presented in a nice box with a case which I thought made it "christmas-quality", I'll go in tomorrow and see what the black one looks like (they said they have red, grey and black in stock in the window, but I didn't enquire at that point) and under our Tonks' advice I'll check the build quality ;).


For opening up all the bottles for your potions class? (*asks innocently*)

Living in England I could really do with one with a nice vibrant umbrella like that ;) and being in Cambridge the bike pump wouldn't go amiss either ;)
