: Theories of possible future chase cards?
: ferdinand_the_yak June 16, 2004, 08:28:18 AM
We did this to death for the LOTR cards... lets start the fun with HP cards! Soooo.... what do we want to see in future releases?

Autographs: Harry, Ron, Malfoy, Snape, Hagrid, McGonagall, Moody, Riddle, Quirrell, Lucius Malfoy, Flitwick, VOLDEMORT!

Props: Invisibility cloak, whomping willow, Riddle's diary, the remains of Harry's Nimbus 2000 :-[

Costumes: from characters - Hagrid, Dumbledore, Lupin, Sirius, Snape, Malfoy, McGonagall

But do you think Artbox is going too fast with the autos? it will be hard to keep topping each subsequent release - like LOTR where we kept getting repeats eg sam and all of his cards went down in value as a result. PoA has been an outstanding release compared with something like ROTK... On the other hand, if we get more Hermiones, at least we will get a chance to get one at a decent price like after the release of the TT Legolas and Merry for people who couldn't afford the extortionist prices of the FOTR ones. If only they did another one for Elrond :-\

I actually have an invisibility cloak card, I will sell it to you for $2000. :o

Free shipping and I will send it in an invisibility envelope.  LOL ;D

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: Roz June 16, 2004, 03:07:00 PM
Hmm - we are watching you and your right foot Becks!!!

Right - I would have joked about a Hippogriff feather :D but it's come true :D :D

Of course that  item is so small I reckon they could only get 15 or so along the centre spine of the feather, so I think that may be the dealer incentive - boo hoo I don't think I stand a chance of getting that one this time.

How about a JK Rowling "bank statement" prop card ..

Look's a bit like a permission form card but has 0000000000000 running across ...

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: samwise16 June 17, 2004, 04:45:13 AM
Haha yea defiently..

what about Rita Skeeters feather pen that would beevry rare tho as it is so small.

Maybe an irish quidditch flag, or the irish hatroz has  ???

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: ferdinand_the_yak June 17, 2004, 04:47:28 AM
Leprechaun gold! But that would disappear before long lol

Imagine... a bit of the Maurader's map! I'm sure they have a few copies of it!

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: samwise16 June 17, 2004, 04:52:33 AM
Yes they do i forgot to mention in POA during the film when harry is looking for petigrew with it the map gets folded in and then folded in half both my harry and lupin. at the end when lupin gives harry the map back there is notacrease where is was once folded. this means the are 2  :o s why not have a prop card of it  :D

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: beckham1 June 17, 2004, 10:48:55 AM
LOL Beckham... I will send you an invisible cheque for it then ;D

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?

I would love to see an incentive card 1/1 of scabbers toe! Ouch.....

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: samwise16 June 17, 2004, 04:33:24 PM
What about a bit of dragon hide  ;)

Hmmm we couldn't really have a hagrid costume card, all of his clothes are to think and furry to fit in a card  ::)

For the chamber of secrets could expect some shedded snake skin, or maybe a farkes (mind my spelling) feather.

In the Phillosophers Stone i would like to see a Ron robe with fluffy's dribble on it, like hermione's pink costume card with some of them having dirt on it (i have one with dirt  ;D)

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: ferdinand_the_yak June 17, 2004, 05:40:22 PM
Geez guys... do you really want that kind of costume/prop in your collection? A bit macabre isn't it? ;D

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: Roz June 17, 2004, 06:05:25 PM
Yep - madness!

I'd like a invitation to Howarts envelope piece (should be cheap there were loads of them) or a piece of the letter that goes with the envelope - there were probably less of these... it could be a dual prop maybe? Letter and envelope?

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: ferdinand_the_yak June 17, 2004, 06:10:37 PM
The sorting hat... or is that totally CGI?
Ron's Howler - I reckon that would be rare, I have seen a couple on ebay which went for small fortunes
The monster book of monsters (be careful... it may bite ;D)
Professor Trelawney costume

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: Roz June 17, 2004, 06:45:23 PM
Oh hee hee you remember the bit in PS where McGonagal tells them off in the middle of the night in her tartan dressing gown with matching cap/hat thing - a clothing of the hat would be hilarious - not for PoA update of course but cooooooooooooooooooooool  ;D

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: ferdinand_the_yak June 24, 2004, 10:27:54 AM
We talk about complementary dual signers, but how about opposites?I'd love a dual Malfoy and Hermione -  the two extremes. Or a Harry/Malfoy - I have poster with Harry and Malfoy kitted up in Quidditch gear and I reckon that would look great as an autograph pair. Or...

Dumbledore-Voldemort
Dobby-Kreacher
Lockhart-Snape
Snape-Sirius
Moody-Trelawney

FTY 8)

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: Roz June 24, 2004, 05:00:46 PM

Tom the leaky cauldron inn keeper auto card

Dual Peeves & nearly headless nick auto card

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: gimli June 25, 2004, 04:31:11 AM
I would first like to see peeves in the movies and then an auto (I have missed him)

So chase cards Maybe a few different levels of normal chase cards to make the set a lttle more interesting for people of less means to get a good set

How about adding some new cards

lets call them Gross cards

Fluffys Dribble
Troll Boggy
Basalith eyeball and blood
hedwigs bird dropings
harrys Dandruff
dudleys Tail

Now that is the kind of sick cards i would like to see next time something with imagination

Of course I am only joking but I can imagine that one day these type of RELICS will start appearing and will fetch prices like the Turin Shroud (well maybe not)

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: Roz June 25, 2004, 04:33:36 AM
Hmm do you think now's a good time to sell the turin shroud? It's taking up too much space in my wardrobe.

Or do you think I should wait until the second coming along with the extended edition of that? Hmm?

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: gimli June 25, 2004, 04:37:22 AM
well not sure about that but if you are going to sell it make sure you cut it up into small squares and mount it in cards.

Just don't put the off cut that were thrown in the bin when you mad it in cards people don't like that kind of thing you Know *underbreath TOPPS*

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: Roz June 25, 2004, 04:44:31 AM
LOL - I am an Anglican so I mean no disrespect on this bit - but you can see the bits with face impressions going for a bit more $$$  :-\

You guys  those are such great ideas you should keep them coming, Mike asked us if we had any ideas on possible things to do.... So were gonna tell him all the ideas you guys have come up with here so far, you never know!!!!!

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?

idea anything hagrid or mcgonagalls or   the original dumbledores costume

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: Roz August 11, 2004, 02:25:23 PM
Great one Crystyles - if you managed to get his "card" it might be worth letting him know we are here, in case he wants any creative input!

After all I don't think there is another dedicated Harry Potter artbox discussion board!!!

If you send him the link to this thread we will all try to keep it on topic - and also try NOT to suggest stupid ones like the one I am about to below :P

What about cutting up that sock at the end of the chamber of secrets (the one in the book that Harry puts in Riddle's diary which he then gives to Lucius and then in turn Lucius gives it to Dobby freeing him?

It could be a smelly card too - (don't bother scratching just) sniff!

It could be called Dobby's freedom sock!

:P

In the books Dobby becomes a great admirer of socks, so they will have to have sock props, like Ron gives Dobby socks at Christmas one year - and Dobby never has matching socks! (whilst the ones he "wears" will be CGI, they will have to have pairs as props that Ron and Harry hold).

Because he never has matching socks they could be dual memorabilia cards - a piece of each sock :)

Hee hee

;DWhen I was in San Diego, we were telling him about CardTalk forums (I hadn't dicovered the Best HP and LOTR one yet)but we were saying it would be good for them to do a little research on these boards just to get an idea on what people want, plus how well there boxes are breaking.
I will let him know about the site so keep em' coming!!!!

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: Roz August 12, 2004, 04:44:46 AM
Sounds good :)

In the future there's going to be lots of potential - for example, in the Order of the Phoenix there will be exam papers which can be cut up,
From the OOTP we are going to NEED a bit of the quibbler - I'd love to see that in print :P remember:

Sirius - Black as he is painted?

Notorious Mass Murderer or innocent singing sensation?

For the Philosopher's stone what about the Dumbledore wizard (chocolate frog) card (obviously a very low numbered item and it would have to be put in showing the back only as much of the front would be green or blue)?

Or what about a bit of Harry's train ticket - that won't look like all the other parchment. Didn't it say the time and platorm number in gold lettering? The problem with all these HP parchments is that if we aren't careful all the prop cards are going to look too similar (well the prop piece is) if they all look parchmenty with the train ticket this would be qutie different.

For any of the HP releases they could use the material from one of the chinz cushions that adorn the Dursley's living room and do a prop card of that :) it would give us all a laugh too ;)

Poor Harry!

Any other ideas folks or is this just me here??

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: kbmum August 12, 2004, 05:15:45 AM
How about these:

Sorcerer's Stone-
Harry's baby blanket (when he was left on the Dursleys' doorstep)
fabric part of Hagrid's umbrella
banners from the Great Hall and Quidditch match
Quirrell's turban

Chamber of Secrets-
Polyjuice Potion page from the library book
paper taken from Hermione's fist after she was petrified by the basilisk
Tom Riddle's diary (although two were recently sold on eBay)
Snape's robes
Ginny's robes or other clothing (since she plays an important part in the story)

POA-
Remus' sweater from the boggart/Dementor scene
Sirius' prison uniform
purple sleeping bag

Goblet of Fire-
pieces of parchment with champions' names that come out of the Goblet

If he uses them, we should ask for a complimemtary prop card, what do you think? ;) ;D

I think its cool that my earlier suggestions of the Marauder's Map (please, please, please let this be in one of my boxes) and the Monster book of Monsters is in the update set :D

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?

Well I think its only Proper thing to do  ;D

It'll be interesting to see though how much information they will end up taking, I guess we will just sit here patiently with our fingers crossed.
Ahhh the power of message boards!!!

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: ferdinand_the_yak August 12, 2004, 09:23:27 AM
LOL, fingers crossed it is then! ;D

I would love to see most of the *ahem* sensible ideas that have been suggested used.

Toenails, socks and skin indeed ::)

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: mcgonagall August 12, 2004, 09:29:04 AM
i think  what couldbe the most sort after costume card would be the original dumbledores costume. It would make a great card and because they 2 differant dumbledore have 2 differant styles you could have dual costume cards

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: Crystyles August 12, 2004, 09:29:46 AM
Toenails, socks and skin indeed

Lol, maybe we should be careful for what we wish for!!!! ewwwww, I couldn't even imagine.

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: Roz August 12, 2004, 02:08:44 PM
 ;D

Yea we have 96 members, so a prop card with a run of 100 (I am sure we will have 4 more by the time the update set comes out) would do nicely  ;)

Ha we should be so lucky!

Although if we are lucky we might get a collectable bit of paper saying:

"gee - thanks... so long suckers"

(or have I been watching too much Simpsons?)

 ???

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?

From Artbox:
Send it over and let's see what I can do. Thanks!

So Far So Good  ;D

lol, lets hope not, and yes way to much Simpsons!!!!

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: Roz August 16, 2004, 01:54:52 AM
Thanks Crystals,

Well after a looong day at Memorabilia yesterday (where I saw some beautiful Lik-O-Rish spiders cards etc etc) And a loong evening at a friend's housewarming last night, I needed a rest this afternoon ;)

So I watched The Philosophers Stone, and I thought about a few ideas whilst watching. I wonder if there's any likelyhood that half of the product (since Cards Inc seem to buy half) could be printed as "Philosophers Stone" and the other half "Sorcerers Stone). What do you guys think? Or perhaps Cards Inc could do a foil stamped Philosophers Stone reprint of the base set!

Anyway what do you reckon to this?

PROPS

1) The actual invitation letter inviting Harry to Hogwarts

2) A Gringotts coin

3) Olivanders Wand Box

4) Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans Box

5) Daily Prophet- Gringotts break in report (rather like the prophet card from the Azkaban set - almost to match).

6) Slytherin Flag from the great hall decoration when the house cup is about to be announced

7) Gryffindor Flag from the great hall decoration once the house cup has been announced

CLOTHING CARDS

1) The hat worn by Dumbledore when he drops Harry off as a baby on the Dursley's doorstep - it's very rich in colour - but actually he has some really great hats in this movie so any would do!

2) Quirrel's Turban

3) Chudley Cannons Robe (shown in the window of a Diagon Alley Shop)

4) Voldermort's cloak in the flashback scene when Hagrid tells Harry the story of his parents (just before entering Diagon Alley)

5) A tie set - this could be 2 dual clothing cards or 4 cards with a swatch of the 4 ties worn by students in each house - eg. Gryffindor is red and gold and Slytherin is silver and green.

It is great to do this for the early sets because it looks like Harry et al are going to be wearing school uniform less in these movies from now on.

6) McGonagal's Green cloak

7) A swatch of the solid invisibility cloak

8 ) Neville's teddy pajamas from the scene where he tries to stop our heroic trio from leaving the common room at night! When Hermione casts petrificus totalis on him - this would be more of a comedy card but would be quite funny and it is a turning point and a sign of what is to come from Neville - he has plenty of heroism in him yet!

9) Harry's red jumper/sweater - worn in the confrontation with Quirrel/Voldemort by the mirror of Erised

10) (and this could go in any set) Quidditch robes from all 4 houses

AUTOGRAPHS

1) Harry Potter

2) Oliver Wood (after this film Wood doesn't have much screen time sadly - Azkaban was his finest hour in the books :(

3) Professor Flitwick

4) Firenze (probably just a voice actor - maybe it would be better to wait until the Order of the Phoenix where he does have a bigger part)

5) Professor McGonagal

What do you all reckon? Got any to add?

Autos - Alfonso Cuaron, Chris Columbus, John Williams (composer), David Heyman (producer) and JKR of course

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: Roz August 19, 2004, 09:39:36 PM
Gosh - have we missed out Emma Thompson as Sybill Trelawney!

A must for the update set - or for the Order of the Phoenix film set!

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: kbmum August 19, 2004, 11:16:30 PM
In general, how far in advance of a release do card manufacturers usually  make public a list of chase cards?  I check the Artbox site every day, but they haven't posted the auto list that dealers received a few weeks ago.

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: ferdinand_the_yak August 20, 2004, 06:49:53 PM
I don't know about Artbox... but I am sure it will come out when its too late for us to cancel our pre-sell orders. Knowing my luck ::) Hopefully this will be as fantastic a set as the last!

For the LOTR collectors... pity the poor souls who put down big dollars for pre-sell LOTR trilogy boxes! And they can't get their money back either! :'(

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: frd August 21, 2004, 01:03:40 PM
Okay, with the next set, whatever ArtBox may decide, there could be a "Paw-tograph" of the animals & creatures that have been in these movies. I know, I know...alot of these were CGI, but think of the possibilities: owls, rats, snakes (okay, okay, so snakes don't have paws). The cards could have a foil-stamped paw-tograph made to size to fit on the cards. So that big creatures could also have their card featured. Insert them at a rate of one in every two or three boxes, and a total of any number divisible by nine to fit into the 9-card pages we store our cards in!

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: garage August 29, 2004, 07:21:46 AM
Do you think the HP series is going to end up going like the LOTR trilogy set and get very stale? I think there is plenty of options for prop and costume cards but after a couple of sets I think the quality of the autos will drop off - particulalry if there is no duplication.

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: frd August 29, 2004, 08:50:54 AM
I should hope not. This first set by ArtBox was awesome. The levels of inserts were both attainable (retail & hobby foils & some of the Autos, Props and costumes) which made it liked by most who bought boxes. And more by those who could afford to buy cases & got some of the higher levels of props, costumes & Autos. The idea is to keep the lowly folk (us) happy, and dreaming for the stars.  8)

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: ferdinand_the_yak August 29, 2004, 02:16:30 PM
Topps had 7 series (8 if you count Wave 2 ROTK) to do - and up until ROTK was fine - great signers, only a few duplicates (TT Legolas and Merry were necessary for those who could not afford the FOTR versions :P). I don't collect costumes, so I can't comment on that.

After ROTK, everything went downhill...

Artbox has only done 1 series so far, so I don't see a slide any time yet (or maybe I just hope not!!!) BUt I can see where you are going with your comment - it will be hard fro them to keep topping each set... PoA was brilliant! I don't think they should do any more update sets, they will run out of material to use. I personally do not mind another Hermione for eg. but not too many - erm... 5 Viggo/Aragorns, anyone??? :P

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: frd August 29, 2004, 03:01:22 PM
Just curious if anyone has mentioned in the forum that this is ArtBoxs' first attempt at "normal" trading cards? Prior to this set they had multiple sets of "ActionFlipz" which are 2 1/2 in by 2 1/2 in lenticular cards. Followed by their nice "FilmCardz" which went full size, but with a cell in the center of the cards. I have several sets from both formats that they started with, and like them very much.
Hopefully, like Ferdinand says, they continue with their brilliancy of the first set. Still hoping I win a lottery soon so I can get one of those Pear Leaves Cards  ;D ??? :'( :D

: Re:Theories of possible future chase cards?
: Roz August 29, 2004, 03:13:57 PM
It is isn't it?

But they had some great guys on board! Including a FOTR veteran!
