Harry Potter => Goblet of Fire Trading Cards from Artbox => : kbmum July 23, 2005, 01:59:36 AM

: GOF promos
: kbmum July 23, 2005, 01:59:36 AM
This auction has all four promo cards.  The listing gives print runs (or maybe just the amount distributed at San Diego Comic Con):

Promo #1     500
Promo #2     500
Promo #3     100
Promo #4     050

Has anyone heard anything about this?  This is the first time I've seen promo #4.  Here's the auction:

I've seen that auction too and to be honest, i don't believe the print runs for the rarer ones.  ::)

I agree with Tower, only 50 of Promo #4 doesn't sound right at all. ::)

Mike, the promo with Emma is #2 and there are some on eBay.

Oh, ok. Thanks :)

: Re: GOF promos
: jfer21 July 23, 2005, 10:25:18 AM
They handed out promo 4 on Sunday to each of the 50 people in line for the Harry Potter Goodie Bags.  The people who worked at the display said they were only handing it out to the people in line and wouldn't be giving it to anyone else.  That is probably where they got their "50" number from.  I don't know about the 3rd one though.  They were handing that one out early in the morning but weren't giving it out by the late afternoon, so they may have limited it.

There are a few auctions for the sell sheet too.

The people who worked at the display said they were only handing it out to the people in line and wouldn't be giving it to anyone else.

Good explanation. But of course they talked about normal people, normal collectors who got them for free. For example the distributors became ever complete promo packs and i'm sure, this set won't be different. There will be more than 50, maybe not hundreds more, but more.  ::)

: Re: GOF promos
: Roz July 23, 2005, 04:21:58 PM
Exactly, when I added the cards to the price guide I ignored those values, perhaps that is the number of promos out there at this stage, but 3 and 4 will probably be in the binder or something and 1 and 2 will be sent out through distributors - this is guess work as there may be an NSU promo etc :)

We must play the waiting game :)

: Sharon July 23, 2005, 06:39:48 PM
So before I go into serious panic mode do you reckon it is worth paying silly money for the 3/4 promos or do you reckon there will be a few knocking around later on  ???

: Re: GOF promos
: Tower July 23, 2005, 07:02:17 PM
I'm almost sure there will be enough good chances later.

: Re: GOF promos
: jfer21 July 23, 2005, 11:33:47 PM
Question about promo 4: in the price guide, it says Harry enters Mad Eye Moody's Office.  How did you know that it was Moody's office?  For some reason, I thought it was Dumbledore's, since you can see the bird staircase behind Harry that he used in COS.  Do all the teacher's offices have one?

: Re: GOF promos
: Roz July 24, 2005, 12:02:54 AM
Hmmmmmmmm I did it all on my own without discussing it with other fans, it may well be Dumbedore's office, but I took all those mechanical machines to be all Mad Eye's trinkets. He had lots of trinkets stacked up looking out for dark wizards approaching... what's the verdict everyone? It was the only location I could think of :(

: Re: GOF promos
: Sharon July 24, 2005, 01:52:22 AM
I think I am voting with jfer21 on this one.  It does look like Dumbledores office (as seen in the extras on the DVD).  I sort of got the impression Mad Eyes stuff would be a bit more messy and disorganised  :-\

Yes but DDs office is not always DDS office it was the astronomy tower in POA ::) (and the same room was used for DADA and Divination)

Although looking it does look like DDs office and see the massive bird behind him does that have anything to do with anything?

Also where is he here?

Just to confirm guys that the promo set currently available  is silver. I know one seller put their name in red over the foil causing some temporary confusion :)

So do we assume that it will just be retro sets with gold foil? We'll have to wait for the first CoS foil to be sure :)

The seller with only 5 feedback  :-\ sold that first set for $62 and now has 2 more sets up - starting at 99 cents and BIN $100... crumbs!

How come he got so many? It makes them look less rare for sure

Hey John, you have promos 3 and 4 mixed up.  Promo 3 is Ron and Harry together and Promo 4 is of Harry alone.

Just to confirm, they did only give out the P4 to the 50 people who were in line for the Lucky bag on the 4th day,  I got one with my bag but others who were too late to get a bag were told no promo!. ::)  Bit of a pain if you had been getting one each day to make a set

Personally I managed to lose the 3rd day P3 they gave me, so still short of a set myself  :'(

: Re: GOF promos
: Roz August 03, 2005, 08:36:50 PM
Oh so they weren't given out in sealed sets of 4 cards?

: Re: GOF promos
: Error401 August 03, 2005, 08:38:46 PM
Hi Roz

Not that I saw,  it was a case of q up each day and they gave you one,  Days 1 to 3 it was just ask and 1 per person,  Day 4 only for the people in line for bags,  If they had sealed packs of the 4 I did not see any!

The only sealed packs of promos I saw was a sealed pack of 4 gold foil Sorcerer's Stone they gave me one day!

Richard

The price on this set has gone through the roof - $75-$90 a set is now commonplace!

Eek. I can't see me getting number 4 :(

Same here!

I notice only one US seller with these promos and his sets of four sell with a reserve of $75!! :o Riddikkulus!! :P
I've lost count of how many he's sold, but he must have had the lion's share of the 'supposed' giveaways from the SDCC to be able to offer so many. :-\

Just out of interest, what's the card in the binder for this set?

Well the binder is already available Dawn, just not many sellers over here appear to have them! :-\

Anyone know what the promo card is in the binder please?
:o= there is  a promo card in this binder as there has been in the rest ...

Oh is it, thats early there are only four cards so far ??? aren't we always the last ::)

Oh is it, that's early there are only four cards so far ??? aren't we always the last ::)

ahhhhh I'm getting confuddled in my old age ...... take no notice of me on this one Dawn, I'm thinking of the [i[]Sorcerer's Stone[]/i]  binder not the one for GoF! ::) :-[ :-X
It will be a while before the GoF ones are available I'm sure ... as for the SS binder, no-one seems to have them here in the UK and the cost of shipping them over from abroad (I want three of them, one as an Xmas pressies for my sis-in-law) makes them even more expensive and then there's the chance of getting hammered for Duty on them too ... :'(

You're right though - we're often lagging way behind on getting things like this. >:(

: Re: GOF promos
: Sharon September 03, 2005, 01:01:40 AM
as for the SS binder, no-one seems to have them here in the UK

Funny you should say that. Graham went to a big show in London the weekend before last and no one there had a SS binder.  Wonder why they are so rare in the UK  ???

I've lost count of how many he's sold, but he must have had the lion's share of the 'supposed' giveaways from the SDCC to be able to offer so many.

And without starting the anti-goody bag debate again I think this proves that these amazing bags, on the whole, did not go to regular collectors  >:()

It stinks on all fronts really doesn't it! >:()

I've no idea why the SS binders aren't readily available here in the UK and I've been quoted shipping charges from some sellers in the US, which have been MORE than the binder costs itself! *grrr*
Perhaps too many of the people who would normally have sold them here, got their fingers too badly burned with the earlier HP sets to take the chance on stocking them ... suppose we'll never know. :-\
Thinking about it, there doesn't appear to have been as many UK sellers selling SS cards as there were with POA and POAU - or am I imagining that?
Interesting to know that there weren't any available at such a large card show in London ... curious ...

I've already asked Tom how much he charges to ship a binder and I'll more than likely buy from him. ;)
Richard (the second one) never replied to my request for shipping info so I didn't pursue it ... his loss  :P

I thought you would probably have asked Tom, but I thought I would put them up anyway ;)
