I'm new here, and was wondering whether anyone could recommend any shops or individuals who sell individual cards for a set price.  I'd prefer websites where I can see what I'm buying.

Unlike a lot of people here, I'm a small-time collector -- I measure my purchases in terms of packs, not boxes or cases. (I came to this a couple of weeks too late and been kicking myself ever since.)  I've decided that for me, it's more economical to focus on a couple of cards that I want, like the Daily Prophet prop, rather than take a chance on a box that could be a dud.

I would usually go ebay as most internet shops have cards listed at the highest end of the price bracket.  
I have bought hundreds of things on Ebay and only been burned a couple of times. Just make sure the seller has good feedback, a good track record, and has been a member under the same ID for a while.  Also while you may find great deals most of the time - beware of the deal that is to good to be true.

I got burned once buy a seller who was preselling for a great price.  I picked up to boxes that would normally go for $140 each for $100 each.  Needless to say when the product release a month and a half later I got one box instead of two and the ebay seller was no longer a registered user.
Buyer beware - pay a little more to get something from someone reputable.

(his online shop prices are not quite his ebay prices - email him and tell him you have come from this forum - which is the same as you should do with Gimli for his best price  ;)

All three of the above I have dealt with in person and will be happy to knock off a few pence off the ebay prices (as they will be saving the listing fees).



 

I do have some props autos and costumes from Harry Potter still available email me if you are interested only a few items left now

MPC doesnt offer discount to members of this forum, if you win on ebay.

They only give discount if you buy from their site for the first time, but it's a lot more expensive there.

I think by the time you buy something on ebay he's paid fees etc and the profit margin is getting too small to offer a discount. Perhaps it's best to contact people directly!

yeah but the seller has to pay 10% to paypal and ebay - more if they pay in US$ and it has to bbe translated to £

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.  I've purchased a lot of items from eBay, and it really is "consumer beware."  You have to know the item and prices before bidding, because sometimes it looks like a good deal, but isn't.  That's why this forum is great.  Now I can make an informed decision about how much to bid, or determine if a fixed price on a website is reasonable.
