: Re: wizard candy
: kbmum July 08, 2005, 05:09:14 AM
I had no choice but to bid on the Daily Prophet that Mike found. ;)  I won a nice one a month ago and it never arrived. :-\

: Re: wizard candy
: grecopa July 08, 2005, 07:14:28 AM
No!!!  Not the one with the really large letter was it?  Did you get your money back?

: Re: wizard candy
: kbmum July 08, 2005, 07:31:38 AM
No, mine had lots of lettering:

The seller thinks it was lost in the mail and has offered the options of either refunding my money or sending me another card.  I haven't heard back yet whether he has a comparable Daily Prophet.  I figured that I better bid on another one while there are still a few up for auction.  If by some stroke of luck I end up with two, I'm sure I can find someone who'd be interested in a trade. :)

: Re: wizard candy
: EmmasOneandOnly July 08, 2005, 08:07:06 AM
Good Luck Cindy I love both of the Daily Prophets

: Re: wizard candy
: kbmum July 08, 2005, 08:40:34 AM
Thanks!  I've heard from someone else who has a spare or two, so I'm sure I'll get another one by the end of the weekend. :)

Cindy, I know your card is from the same guy my dual came from, and it did take some time to arrive.  I stillfeel it will come....maybe today.

: Re: wizard candy
: RUNNING RIOT July 10, 2005, 11:41:05 PM
Mine has security across the top with just a bit of the "y" missing, and has the word "wizard" in the middle with no part of it missing.  I have tried to post a picture of it, but it won't let me.  I also have a great looking wizard candy card that I have been trying to post with a crazy closeup picture of a round lady that looks like she is singing, and a library book card with the letters "hou" on it....possibly from Ghouls?

: Re: wizard candy
: grecopa July 10, 2005, 11:48:07 PM
Oooo, please try to get a scan of both of those cards.  I would love to see them. 8)

: Re: wizard candy

Kelly,

I just sent you an email with the cards, let me know if it works.

: Re: wizard candy

If you'd like to post pictures here, you'll need to upload your images to a photo hosting service (I use Photobucket.com).  Then you can paste the link to the image in a post and the picture will appear here.

Wow that is the best Restricted book I have seen so far  :o  It could be the beginning of the word House (if not Ghoul).

Yes please post the Ebay link.  I can see a flood of bids hitting Ebay then  ;D

: Re: wizard candy
: kbmum July 11, 2005, 12:39:53 AM
I think Anna has a Black Pepper Imps swatch with the imp's leg.

: Re: wizard candy
: RUNNING RIOT July 11, 2005, 12:50:40 AM
I didn't think of House, that could be it too, Ghoul just sounds cool, I mostly just like to say it.....Ghoooooouuuuuuul.  :)

My mother-in-law bought the kids a Chamber of Secrets coloring book that had stickers.  I was surprised to see a sticker of the Bertie Botts box.  I thought people might like a picture that shows two sides of the box. :)  Anna and I both think that there must be a different face on each side.

That's interesting ... it's the UK spelling not the US version - 'flavour' and 'Bertie Botts' - I thought it would be Americanised! ::) ;)
I would be nice to know what the other two faces look like to the ones shown on the illustration, I wonder if there are other drawings available showing them?

: Re: wizard candy
: LikORish-Spider August 31, 2005, 06:50:58 AM

Didn't Anna get one of those face variants for her collection a little while ago?
It was a beautiful swatch and the envy of many! ;)

After seeing the box, the fold line on your card makes sense now, Anna. It must be from the top of the box. It proves that it did come from the candy box.

Hey, the picture shows a blonde and a redhead, and Anna has a child with black hair.  Who has the brunette? :)

How very odd is Bertie rude in America or something ??? and why hadn't I noticed.

Perhaps they think 'Bertie' is too frightfully-British-stiff-upper-lip to sell well in the States Dawn ???
You probably hadn't noticed before till you'd seen a full-sized pic (or at least a bigger pic) of the box the Bertie Botts is packaged in in the films. I've never seen them to buy like that here in the UK - and I have looked for them too - so expect LOTS of HP-related sweets and choccies near the time of GoF being released. Just in time for Xmas too!! YUM! ;D

: Re: wizard candy
: grecopa September 01, 2005, 04:01:13 AM
Nope, they're Bertie Bott's over here too.  I have a full green box.  And I do mean still FULL.  :P

: Re: wizard candy
: Morningangel-Iola September 01, 2005, 04:02:24 AM
Well I expected lots of HP things to be in the new Agros but I was sadly mistaken :(

Opps! I stand - or should I say 'sit' corrected Kelly! ;)

Argos ... *pfah* ... I'm nearly always disappointed at the stock they offer these days Dawn - they're trying to cover too many items and mostly not the stuff ppl want. ::)
The new catalogue weighs a ton - imagine how much paper pulp they've got through printing all that lot! :-\
You're probably better off going to the Co-Op toy department and seeing what they've got in there. ;)
I should've mentioned Toys-R-Us ... but I totally loathe the store near me and hate going in there. It seems to be full of staff who have little or no idea on what stock they have or where in the store it is and most of them are completely charmless too - not what I would call a pleasant shopping experience! :P

: Re: wizard candy
: Morningangel-Iola September 01, 2005, 04:16:46 AM
On the plus side you get a good work out just lifting the Argos catalogue and they do have a Harry film cell presentation, bit no action figers. Not that a woman my age should want them *whistles uncoviningly*. I'll maybe try the co-op, we dont have a local Toys-r-us anyway.

: Re: wizard candy

Woollies might have some HP stuff in too don't forget!
ermmmmm where else to look ..... Toymaster ..... ermmmm ..... don't think Boots will have anything - what about W H Smiths?
Asda ... Tesco .... Morrisons/Safeways .... M & S .... Sainsburys (so you can see Tiny Lil Bill!  :P) - dunno if any of this lot will have anything in store yet, but it might be worth a quick peek! ;)

Don't have a woolies either (did years ago but thats an other story) although checked one out the other week while on holiday and it was HP free :(

My Smithes currently have ancient old HP (cartoon) stickers which I have no idea where they dug them out from.

M&S is usually good but its not usually the film stuff its usually the illustrated stuff and costumes they dont make big enough >:-()

Asda is usually good, I have to go future a feild for Tesco's :( I haven't seen anything in Sainsburies other than the book and the DVD (although I love them I got poster number two ;D )

I will keep my eye out and report back ;)
