: Incentive cards
: Arramond June 16, 2005, 03:48:28 PM
Bit of a dumb nooby question but...

If there are 40 of the platform 9 3/4 card and only 800 cases that means that there is a maximum of only 16 cards distrubuted and that is only if all 800 cases were sold in lots of 50. Same goes for the 25 case incentive cards too.

What happens to the other 24+ (platform 9 3/4) cards? how do they get distributed?

They are distributed to Warner Bros. employees and also the press. So this amount accounts for the leftover from the 10,25 and 50 case incentive cards.  :)

You sure know a lot for a 17 year old!  Thanks for the info.  Have you opened your case yet?  I'm dying to know what you got. ;)

The press?  Can you elaborate?  Just trying to figure out if it is the same as I would interpret press as meaning.  You know some times I am not up on all the lingo in the UK and Oz, just want to make sure I am understanding.  Thanks.

I would say by press it would mean those who attend say press junkets. Dont hold me to this as all I was told was Warner Bros, the press and the like. Sorry I couldnt be of further assistance.  :-\

I figured WB and Artbox employees certainly get some, possibly even some of the cast who sign?  But I don't see how the press would get any, heck nobody even knows what the cards are until people start opening boxes.  So if there are any members of the press covering it, they wouldn't have much to tell.

Maybe, just would seem a little strange.

And also it was a great question, I think we all have wondered that.  Especially when you compare it with pear tree leaves for original POA, I would say most (or at least half to 2/3's) of the 30 are in collectors hands.  I would guess that there is less than half of the wand card (10 case incentive) production (I think they were # to 210 don't want to bust mine out right now) in circulation.

Also I can't figure out why we don't seem to see too many of the incentives that must go to employees and WB people.  I know Upper Deck gave a special tiger woods card to only employees and lots of them hit ebay.  I think many of us recognize the seller ID's who have the incentive cards for sale.  It seems to be the same dealers for the most part.

I don't know ???

Tom Felton hasn't had anything - when he saw that his PoA cloak had been cut up into swatches for cards he was gutted

Do you have any penny sleeves?  You could put them in those and just not touch them again until your screw downs arrive.  I would hate to tell you "Sure! Go ahead and put them in empty packs!"  and then get one or two dinged up on the edges. :-\  You know what they say-Patience is a virtue.  Frustration builds charater. ;D

You're absoultely right Kelly. Unfortunately I dont have any penny sleeves but they should be arriving any day now with my binder. perhaps I should just wait, then I might appreciate opening them more. Ive already waited 3 weeks so whats another few days eh?  ;)

I think I might wait now until monday. But i did just buy a Hermione's woolly jumper costume card. Plus I have a 10 case incentive card coming this week as well so I've got a few things to look forward to.  ;D

: Anna June 18, 2005, 11:20:41 AM
You're so good. 0:)  Everyone else on the forum, especially me, would have opened all of the boxes already. ;)

: Re: Incentive cards
: ArwenEvenstar June 18, 2005, 11:32:50 AM
Trust me, Im just itching to open the rest of the boxes but I have to keep convincing myself to just wait for my screwdown cases and penny sleeves. its getting harder and harder to do.

Here's a new wand card I have, it's not the one in my collection (which is very close to Anna's) - unlike Anna I didn't even try to scan it - this is one that really sticks out of the card quite a bit, so I just took a photo of it :)

It's such an interesting one that I am not sure that I want to sell it (card greed kicks in) but how many versions of the same card do I need?

Looks like a piece of chocolate :D FTY *drools*

Very nice variant! :D

Interesting prop card you've got there Roz. Almost looks like there is black electrical tape on the wand. Maybe it's Ron's wand after he's used Spell-o-tape on it.
Seriously though very nice card and very unique. Congrats.  :D

For those of you that may have missed it here is a link to the pic of my wand prop card i received the other day from Tom.  :D

OOer - found out for eating chocolate around my cards :P

He hee no - it seems to be painted on - a very interesting piece IMHO but it could be a rubbery paint - perhaps I should touch it to see what it feels like what sort of paint it is but it's probably not going to remain mine so ...should I?

I just won my first case insentive card ever yesterday and I've become much more interested in this thread.  I got a wand prop which I know is a 10 case incentive and numbered to 205.  But if there were only 800 cases sold, there should be a max of 80 wand props in circulation.  Where are the extra 125 cards?  125 seems like a whole lot of cards to be kept back as replacements.  I wrote Artbox and got this response:

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry.
We have to make extras to provide to our Licensor due to the license agreement.

Hope that'll help you.

Thank you again.

Ok.....and that means what exactly?  They have them at Artbox still or they have given them to Warner Bros?  Anyone know?

: kbmum July 19, 2005, 11:10:10 PM
It sounds as if they gave a number of the cards to Warner Bros.  I'll bet it was the same for the coin cards, maybe for every single card they make.

: Re: Incentive cards
: Roz July 19, 2005, 11:29:41 PM
Yes they do give a lot to Warner Bros etc, but that's still 130 wands that shouldn't have been given away. It's been the same right through - with the peartree, honeydukes candy etc. I understand they have to give some to actors etc (although I doubt this as Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) had not heard about cape cards etc) 130 is a lot of spares!
