Yeah I'm glad I got a nice two colour one, although these do seem to be doing quite well not like the blank POA swatches I have seen. I seem to have a thing about the tie cards, I love them ;)

I received my new Wand card today. ;D   I had trouble scanning it because the handle sticks out 1/8" higher than the face of the card, so it wouldn't lie flat on my scanner.  So here's the card made with two scans (left and right side), it's the best I could do.

No, i definately want to have only one of each card, exceptions are very rare (2 nice Divination class and the 2 different Lupin Shirts in POAU). I have no doubles in my SS set, except the 5 different Wizard Candys, but they doesn't count. ;)

But i'll have to sell 13 Costume Cards next week. I bought a lovely Costume Master Set some days ago, a bargain in my opinion, if i think about all the great variants in there.  ::)

Holy cow, Tower.  What a deal!  Do you think it was because of the sellers low feedback?  Just the Neville PJ's alone are worth nearly half of what you paid. 8)

I'm so happy with the deal, you can imagine.  :D  Well, i would be really satisfied if the snare wasn't sold before i detected the auctions of the seller. ;)  But it was a little risk of course, a seller with no feedback and no paypal, really a risk.  ::)

There have been a lot of auctions of the seller with very nice cards, but only these 2 had those great BINs, the others were real auctions with normal prices at the end. Good for me that i was the first who detected this costume card set. :)

I agree - its so thin, having it in such a thick card is rather silly ::) You should see the case its in - a massive block that's half an inch thick - I could knock someone out with it! :rofl:

My new card arrived toady - a Platform 9 3/4. It is a beautiful card and numbered 15. What has struck me as odd is the colour of the paper of the ticket to that of the printed ticket on the card. The ticket on the card is a purplish light bluish colour where as the portion of ticket itself is a cream sort of colour. Thinking about all the ones I have seen on eBay and the picture in the price guide have all been that colour. Do you think it is something in the printing of the card or has anyone watched the movie recently and can remember the colour of it on screen?

Congratulations :) I think it's one of my favourite cards, I have noticed the same, my piece of ticket is an off-white cream colour with black text (no gold on my section, but it does say "NDON T" (London to) and "For One" (way travel), so I am pleased. I think it's more the camera the image was taken on and the lighting at the time. It seems to have been taken straight from the movie so it seems to be held by Harry's hand - I'm sure you have been to Kings Cross - the celing over the bridge that he's standing on in this scene is opaque but very yellowing. I guess by the time they put enough lights on Harry for filming and for the gold on the ticket to show up the overall effect on the colour of the ticket was purpley.

I received my costume cards now, thanks again, Anna, for the help. And this one looks really great in nature, better than the scan can show, you can see more yellow.  :D

Yes, I got refunds from both of the sellers I bought the first 2 cards from.  I consider myself very lucky in the long run.

After months of waiting, one card getting lost in the mail and having to get my money back from PayPal, I finally got a Daily Prophet today!  I'm very, very happy. :)  Special thanks to beckham1 -- you're the best!

Here are my 6 new cards! Chocolate Frog, Wizard Candy, and Daily Prophet going onto Ebay tomorrow evening. Also a Devil's Snare will be in my Ebay Store (BJSNonSportGuy) tonight. I believe the Wizard Candy is a bit familiar to members here, if I remember right a very similar one was obtained by a shacker. Look closesly at the Chocolate Frog swatch, you get almost the entire word "Honeydukes", as well as part of the word "Chocolate" I am so in love with the other three prop card that I am planning on keeping them. Also, and I could be COMPLETLY off, but if you look closely at the Daily Prophet prop card...Could that swatch be part of the word "Daily"?

Your Daily Prophet swatch is upside down.  It's actually a lower case "p" and it's surrounded by part of an "o" and part of an "h" from the word "Prophet."  I had the exact same thing happen with my POA Daily Prophet.  I wrote to Artbox about it, and they told me that since the Daily Prophet is read right side up, updside down, and sideways, they didn't consider the upside down masthead to be a production error. ::)

I re-read the description and it doesn't say anything about card scanned won't be one receiving!!!
But it also doesn't say card number either!!  :'(

That's called bait and switch.  The seller should either offer you a partial refund and allow you to keep the card, or ask you to mail the card back and give you a FULL refund (including shipping).  You're right, there's nothing in the listing to indicate that you wouldn't receive the exact card.  The seller might have "borrowed" the image from another auction, thinking no one would care if the swatch on the card didn't match the one in the auction.

Yeah, that really stinks!  Definately let us know what happens on this.  BTW, are the bottom corners dinged up or is that just a shadow on the scan?

Take a deep breath before you blast this seller Jackie and let us know what they're going to do about it for you. ;)
You also need to find out if they have the correct card listed too and if they have (and it's condition is good of course) then it should be replaced with the one you received.

I have always been wary with auctions where the autographs or swatches of cards really matter and ALWAYS ask the seller if I am bidding the exact card pictured. That way, if they send another card, I can use that as a bargaining tool in any future dispute.


I always use the default that an outstanding card is a stock picture and will confirm with the seller before bidding to save any disappointment later.

I'm not criticising you at all Jackie - its just that I am so sick of seeing auctions with stock items (especially when they advertise a nice variant of that item) where you don't get what you pay for. How hard is it to put an extra line in the auction informing bidders that the item photo is a stock photo and you may not get the exact card pictured? >:()

Well spotted, Jackie it has to be worth an email to ask. Horrific confession coming up - I once sent out the wrong numbered cards to two people - the swatches were the same (it was something like a Quidditch cloak from PoAU) and I made a genuine mistake. I emailed both bidders and actually neither was bothered so they just kept their cards, mistakes do happen so let us know how you get on.

He hee - I always put so much effort into making sure I have the right scan the sometimes I forget to put the number in ;) but I always ensure the scan is the card I'm selling!!

I have to admit, when I saw the auction and saw such a great looking variant, I automatically did the BIN!!! I didn't even read the description!!  ::) I know there has been a few others lately that some Shackers have picked up and so I was really excited to see this and with a decent price!! (I think John's was in the $80's and Jules was $60's).  I should know better than to jump!!!  >:()


Well, this is what has happened!!!
I e-mailed him  telling him that the card I received was not the one in the auction.  (keep in mind that he did not use spell check!!)
His reply:
i used the provided stock  photo from the website for the card, the one i sent should have been extremely close if not better, i do apologize for that

I then told him that it wasn't better, that they were very different. I then sent the link of the auction and a scan of what I received and told him to compare!! I told him I was not satisfied and wanted a full refund!!
His reply:

i will refund within 48 hours of receipt of the  card, i will run this by you though, to keep the card anmd me not have to fool with it, would you accept the card for say a 10-15 dollar refund difference??? this way i can avoid fees, either way desnt matter to me though

Told him no!! I will return with delivery confirmation!! I also told him that I was soo glad that you had sooo many requests for the card, for the one in the scan was a great variant!!!!!  I just hope when it goes back up on auction, you use the correct scan!!!! So let me ask this!! I'm not too upset about no refund of the shipping. This seller mailed this card to me in a snap close card holder (like used for thicker cards) and a SS BT2.  Should I keep these?  Or is that being selfish?

Sure, the seller had a lot of interest in the card -- because of the swatch shown in the auction!  You should return the card in the holder he sent, as well as the box topper.  The snap holder probably isn't PVC-free, so it would be good only for short-term storage of cards, anyway.

Yeah, he had lots of people asking because it was a great looking card!!  The one you got, is it just the two stripes, or like the one I have with a small smidgen of a third stripe on the other side?  I want to watch his ne auction to see what he gets for it, as I would like to sell mine, but would like to get close to $50 for it....do you think that is possible? Maybe you should just file with eBay that the item received is not as described....

It has two stripes and the third is visible if you have it in your hand (its tucked under the card opening). Very similar to yours.
I'm not sure what these go for.  I saw yours and considered buying it. (Non Pee spot conversation cracked me up!!  :rofl:) But have decided that I want one that has more blue than white (pretty picky, huh?).
I also am curious what his sells for!! If I were you, I would wait and see what his sells for and then make a decision what to sell it for. But wait until his auction is over! That leaves a higher demand from the buyers for your card!!  ;)

Mine is a bit more visible though because you can see it without looking under the card...but close enough.  The one I am keeping for myself only has two stripes, but it covers a bit more of the card, so there is more blue on it (and the number is lower) so I don't think you are too picky by wanting more blue on it.

I think he's a bit cheeky - it's not strictly a "return" when it's his mistake. I know what John means, if the box topper is any good to you to make a set then I should keep it - it's very little in the bigger scheme of things, it doesn't cover your $4.30 for shipping ($3 paid and $1.30 ish for registered return)

I agree that if you didn't like it and wanted to return it and he listed everything okay, then yeah, I can see him not returning the shipping.  But since he mislead you with this auction, he should return it all.  Especially since he is getting his listing fees back, and it only cost him $0.60 to send it to you in the first place!!!

I almost wish he used the same incorrect picture so that the next person could file a complaint against him too >:D

It certainly is  ;D  That's what I liked about this set - even though some of the auto's were pricey they weren't silly like POA.  Unless a rich uncle I never knew I had pops his clogs I will never complete either of the POA sets.

In fact the SS set is now my most complete.  Other than the case incentives I am only 3 missing.  Of course those three would be the most expensive  ::) ;D

The really weird thing though is that I have never collected autographs!  I had always thought they were boring compared to props and costumes.  It was actually  because of the actors in these sets that I was converted.  It started with Warwick Davis - yes I like his auto and think he should sign loads more of them  ;)  But the real clincher was Lesley Phillips.  And now having the possibility of Frances de la Tour and Miranda Richardson in future sets I think I am well and truly hooked  (:D#  (no a pirate has nothing to do with anything but I haven't used one for so long  ;) )

Sharon, what cards do you need besides the case incentives?

The cards I need are the ones that make you take a sharp intake of breathe  :rofl:  They are Devil's Snare, Gringotts Top Secret Letter
and Harry Potter's Shopping List for Hogwarts.  I could probably get a Gringotts letter but most of them are blank and still expensive. 

I think I got spoilt on the Invitation Letter card - my one has loads of writing and is just gorgeous  ;D  I just begrudge paying loads of money for a blank piece of parchment that could just as easily be a piece of Birthday cake box.  That said though I would have been over the moon to have pulled a blank one from a packet  :)

But I will bide my time - I waited months for my POA Candy Card and now have the honour of owning the cheepest one in the price guide (as opposed to Graham owning one of the dearest Whomping Willows but we don't mention that  ;) )

Well with everything that happened with my dud pj card I received last week, I was given a ray of light!!!

Now I'm getting probs from this seller again!!! Originally he told me I would be refunded within 48 hours of receiving the card back. It was delivered on Tuesday morning. I e-mailed him and told him I was watching for the refund.
His response:

Please read the message that you wrote to me below!!!  (Which stated 48 hr refund)
I think if you have access to a computer, you can do a refund!!!!  My address is ....  The tracking number for your envelope is ...so you can check yourself. I've done what I said I would do and I would expect you to do the same!! I even accepted the loss of the shipping!!! (which I still don't think is correct!!!!) Please refund! Jackie

Rubbish if you ask me. Unless his security feature is based on the fact he doesn't know his paypal password but his computer remembers it ::)

Never have I heard of such a feature, and it would be a feature offered by paypal rather than his own system - because paypal would say "you can only access your paypal from XXX IP address" or something similar.

What type of paypal account do you have? You want to make sure that he refunds your original payment (for which he does not need your paypal email address!!!) rather than just sends you $65 because you will have to lose more money through paypal fees this way!

I think he is just winding you up.  As you say if he can run his Ebay account on another PC why not his Paypal account?  And if anyone knows how to set up this type of security feature please let me know.  I will do it in a flash as I only ever use one PC.

Let us all remember that he ws also able to relist that card last night.  I would tell him that if you do not have the refund as promised either within the 48 hours, or by Friday (it is uop to you) that you will be filing a complaint with PayPal.  In fact, I would do it now.  Tell him he said 48 hours, so you are filing with PayPal, which actually gives him like 10 days to respond to them, but at least there is a complaint with PayPal on him.  And he will know you are serious.  Good think you got delivery confirmation or he might try to tell you he never got it back.

And I just checdked his feedback.  Looks like someone else recently filed a claim against him as well.

I alway use delivery confirmation!!!! I think it's a cheaper way to ensure the package gets there!! I've had buyers contact me over a month after the sell saying they never received package!! All I have to do is give them the delivery number and then it's thier problem!!

When I start selling, I am using delivery confirmation as well. 

Well, write him bck and tell him you want your refund mailed to you, with a delivery confirmation number as proof he mailed it back.

Jackie, if he refunds your money through the PayPal transaction, you won't be hit with a fee and you'll get the money immediately.  It's a very easy thing to do.  I had to do a partial refund for a buyer once, and it took less than a minute.  Besides, if he sends you a check, you'll have to worry about whether it will bounce.

If you have to file a claim with PayPal, make sure you ask for the entire amount.  When there are disputes like this, PayPal usually makes the buyer pay to ship the item back to the seller and makes the seller refund the entire amount of the purchase, including shipping.

I just e-mailed him telling him specific instructions for my refund (mailing it instead). I'll let you all know what he says!  ::)

I don't think you're able to set the cookies on any computer to remember the Paypal password - the email address yes, but not the password - and it seems odd to me that he's able to access his ebay account to relist your returned card which is password protected too! >:(
All I can think of is that he hasn't the funds in his account to refund you and if you aren't satisfied by his responses then get your claim filed ASAP and make him sweat.
I wouldn't settle for a mailed refund of any description Jackie - he should refund you directly into your Paypal account without delay.

My computer remembers all of my PayPal info, and I've had no trouble accessing my PayPal account from my parents' computer in another state.  I thought the same thing as Jules, that he doesn't have the money for a refund in his account.

I love this card too, been hunting it for months ^_^ it was this card and Draco's scarf that got me into collecting HP sets. I've had a few bad experiences with sellers too in the short amount of time i've been collecting >:(). I went asplash and bought some SS. Nothing in the way of top autos or props in the case (I will do a breakdown elsewhere asap) but I am pleased to report that "the beast" creature (Fluffy's Fur) card number 666 is now in my posession :rofl:

Great variant on the wand box Edith...but at $394.00 you are starting to take the variant issuse to a whole new level
especially for a 1 of 842 print run and if your lucky a $6-$10 card with the regular variances,  then again YOU GO GIRL !!!!!!!

True but we've only seen a handful of these variant wand boxes. I'm sure the price guide reveals more but on 56k I've not got the patience to find out (when I should be working ;)) - 5 or so maybe?

I agree it was to much $$$ but sometimes it not about how much it costs but how much you want it and I thought it was a very nice variant. I'm ready to put my Sorcerer's Stone Collection away and mark it as complete. After getting this card, there's only one other card variant that I really want - Restricted Section Library Book with some type of print on the swatch; would like to have a variant of the different uniform costume cards (slytheryn student NYTF, griffindore student) if there are any more of them. I've been looking for these variants for over a year now. I had the opportunity to get a restricted section book variant last year on ebay. Someone had one for BIN and I kept waiting for them to possibly drop the price. I don't think it ever sold the seller just pulled it from ebay.  >:() I can't remember the name of seller now ???; they were asking for only $180 for it. In light of what I have paid for some of the variants since then; that really is not that much for me. So..... if anyone has any of these variants and would like to make some money they can PM me  8).

Is it better to have a costume card with 2 colors in it or 2 costume cards with 1 color in each card?

Definitely the card swatch with 2 different colours... they turn up very rarely!

i'm in the merchant navy and have been at sea for 10 years, i don't know why they say that.  it's not that bad.  maybe because of all the maritime disaster's that have occured and if you are in the middle of the oggin' and things go pete tong, you really are on your own.
