I know there are different colours for these cards.  Any ideas, which colours there are for each, ad which ones seem to be the most rare?

I think it was LikO-Rish that posted a blue one.  I've seen another that looked like football (American) material,  Lots of them seem to be a dark red or brown.

So is thast for the boxes or books?

I think it is boxes, so we have:

Wand Boxes:
Brownish Green
Red
Green
Blue

And books we have:
Green
Brown
Red
And what else?

I also pulled a green Wand Box and a brown Library Book.

Oxblood (Maroon, burgundy) (4)
Dark Blue (1)
Greenish Brown (1)
Green (3)

Three different textures: Greenish Brown and Oxblood (Maroon, burgundy) are the same texture.
Green is pebbley (is that a word?)
Dark Blue is smooth with black veins running throught it.

Thanks for the pics.  Now how about the Restricted section book colors?  What did you find of them?

Its nice that there are so many varieties in these cards the same with the candy, its really nice ;D

I agree, but I would like to know which colors of the book is more rare, as well as the wand box.

As far as I have seen, the rarity for Wand Boxes is, Most rare to least rare:

Brownish Green
Dark Blue with Black veins
Green
Red (It's not realy red, it's like what used to be called Oxblood, sort of maroon or brownish burgundy.)


I only have 4 Restricted Section Library Books:
2 Brown
1 Brown with a paste of of two textures
1 Green with Black veining

I have seen reports of blue and variants with letters, also.

these are the variations i pulled i have to say there are alot of variations to this card and i would only call the writting one and the one with the label variants though

I was just looking at some of the work that John Hurt has done over the years... voicing Aragorn in the 1978 LOTR movie being one. Best HP-LOTR crossover actor yet! ;D

Chris, can you post scans of the restricted section books you pulled? Thanks for the scans of the wand boxes. I LOVE the purple one!

Maybe two classes of variants, Color and Letters, or something like that.
Of course, the Letters will be much rarer.
Which color do you find the rarest?

I found one of the Purple ones and mentioned it. But didn't scan it because I didn't think the colour was different enough to show on a scan.
It my be it will turn out to be a recognized colour variation. Only WE (us Yak Shakers) will know for sure. ;D

Actually, I meant that I LOVE the pruple wand box you pulled.  It is the one all the way to the right of your scan!!

So no variants of the restricted book? No letters or anything?

I think those scans are gimli's.

Your interest made me take a revisit to my cards.
To my surprise, I find that I have:
Four of the more Purple color,
Four Green,
Two Dark Blue,
One Brownish Green,
One Redish shade of the Purple.

What do you guys think of this one?

I find that when scanning the Books and Wand Boxes I have to enhance the image by brightening and adjusting the contrast to the card swatch.  Otherwise it's hard to determine the swatch color and you can't see the details.

Roz - Is this a blue swatch with black grain?

Yes that's right Anna it's blue with blackish grain, I will have a play in photoshop in future before posting :(

I pulled a couple of more different Wand Box Props:
One looks like RED Snake Skin and the other looks like Brown Lizard Skin. No doubt Gucci Wand Boxes.  :rofl:

Since I am a fan of snakes, I LOVE the snakeskin looking one!!!!!!  I wish the one I pulled looked like that.

Just when I think there is nothing new with the SS set something unusual pops up. The Wand Boxes could be/have been a complete series just by themselves. I must have about 9 distinct variants and have seen 4 or 5 more that sold on ebay for a ton of money.

I've seen a blue wand box with that pattern but not a red like your's.  VERY nice library book!  Remember the one with the pink star that sold on ebay?  I can't remember how much it went for, but I know it was a lot.

Eeeeekkkk!  That's the same little girl squeal I made when I saw Anna's Fizzing Whizzbee card. ;)  The library book is spectacular, Tower!  My favorite so far.  I like it much better than the star one that was on auction.
Hey, Rich-your wand box is sure to draw a high premium on ebay.  Let us know if you put it up.  I can't afford it, but I like to watch to see how high certain cards go. ;D

Yes, my thoughts, to be honest, i didn't like the one with the star very much. But i like this one very much. :)  I was a little bit sad that i had to bid against well known forum members but it was too unique to pass, so i had no choice. Fortunately it doesn't happen very often that i have to overbid people i don't like to overbid.

I just received my new Wand Box today. ;D  The swatch is purplish-red color with a gray and black label.  The corner of the label is bent up slightly, but I still think it looks cool. 8)

I'm glad Artbox have varied the swatches for the Wand Box cards, otherwise they could've been really boring ... a bit like all the black robe costume cards in the last set! ::)

I think it looks great!  Put a story with the bent corner, like imagine it was one of the boxes that came flying off the shelf when Harry waved the first wand Olivander gave him. 8)
