OK now we have the SS set (or hopefully some time this century we will be getting them  >:( ). I was wondering what we would hope to find in the GOF set at the end of the year. Ok I know we haven't seen the film yet but we can still ponder  ;)

A bit of Rita's costume (more interesting than rosmerta's)
Dragons scale
Costumes from the 4 competitors
Something from the world cup ;)

: Re: GOF cards
: darthmactor May 21, 2005, 05:49:20 AM
hm...the possabilites:

a shaving from the Goblet of Fire
a shaving from Mad-Eye Moodys wooden leg and fake eye
a piece of the golden egg from the second task
a piece of the daily prophet rita skeeter article (common, gotta continue the Daily Prophet cards)
A galleon card #'d to 1000 (since that is the prize money for winning the tournament)
a piece of the beard the Weasley twins sprout when they try to put their name in the Goblet of Fire
Irish and Bulgarian team quidditch robes from the world quidditch cup
A leaf from the headges from the last task  #'d to...oh, I don't know, if the trailer is any indication, 10000000
Swatches of the tents the weasleys, Hermione and Harry stay in for the Quidditch World Cup
A Dumbledore, Snape and McGonagall costume card...FINALLY

And the list can no doubt go on and on and on for ideas.

How about a quad costume of the four champs?

: Re: GOF cards
: ferdinand_the_yak May 27, 2005, 05:46:29 AM
I wonder how many things they can fit on one card... we've gone from duals to triples... and now quads :D

: Re: GOF cards
: Morningangel-Iola May 27, 2005, 05:49:34 AM
But can you imagine how hard it would probably be too pull.

: Re: GOF cards

I vote for a quad. I dont care I would buy one.

I'll take any clothing from Victor!  How about some kind of merpeople clothing?

: Re: GOF cards
: rns91294 June 23, 2005, 03:21:25 AM
I have an idea I wanted to pitch to Artbox, but they would probably laugh at me.  Okay, I had a dream (don't laugh, these cards are a terrible addiction) and in it, I pulled the Diggory Dual.  It was a piece of his costume, AND his autograph on one card!!! I think something like that would definitely be different.

: Re: GOF cards
: Anna June 23, 2005, 03:27:15 AM
... I pulled the Diggory Dual.  It was a piece of his costume, AND his autograph on one card!!! I think something like that would definitely be different.

It would be a new idea for Artbox, but Rittenhouse Archives had made autographed costume cards for their Quotable Xena set.  I'm not sure of any other sets, but I do own some from the Xena set.

: Re: GOF cards
: rns91294 June 23, 2005, 03:46:28 AM
That's cool!  I would like to see more "different" stuff.  Although, Artbox has been pretty good about giving us different in the past (a feather, animal fur, a monster book).

: Re: GOF cards
: Anna June 23, 2005, 04:15:48 AM
Yeah, and now they've given us these humongously thick cards that we can't store properly.  >:(

: Re: GOF cards

: Re: GOF cards

Since the rare cards so far have been plants, let's see some rare Gillyweed.

: Re: GOF cards

What do you think about a piece of Dan and thems hair

: Re: GOF cards
: Morningangel-Iola July 01, 2005, 04:54:29 AM
Well there's enough for more cards than Lupins jacket ::)

Maybe thats why they have grown it especially for us card collectors. I think Harry and Rons hair would be more interesting than Fluffy or the Grimm  ;)

: Re: GOF cards
: EmmasOneandOnly July 01, 2005, 05:01:46 AM
I know, you know how many boxes I would buy to try and pull that or how much money I would save up to buy it if it was a case card :o :o ;D ;D

: Re: GOF cards
: Morningangel-Iola July 01, 2005, 05:05:51 AM
And it would get them to cut it too ;) Should we write to Artbox or the boys? :P

: Re: GOF cards

I'm going to write and tell them to approch Artbox ;)

: Re: GOF cards

As long as they don't use all of it, don't want a skin head Harry for OoTP lol

Nope I don't even know what part of the country she lives in. I know Dan's about Fulham somewhere I think. No idea about Em.

: Re: GOF cards

What other WEIRD cards can we come up with ;)

What about a finger nail or something

: Re: GOF cards

LOL - we better start getting back on the GOF cards road ;)

I want there to be some Trunk cards and more school books and maybe the trios backpacks

: Re: GOF cards

Harry's bathrobe would be cool

Or Ron's lace

wow, an actual update  ;D

The cards look great!

: Artbox page updated - GOF cards
: Tower July 03, 2005, 07:28:45 PM
Yes, but the Sorcerer's Stone set is still missing.  ;D

: Re: GOF cards
: kbmum July 03, 2005, 07:32:09 PM
Those aren't all GOF cards.  The first card shows Harry with the Sorting Hat, which is SS.  The second card is Harry and the basilisk from COS, the third is Harry, Sirius and dementors at Black Lake from POA, and the fourth is GOF.

: Re: GOF cards
: Tower July 03, 2005, 07:38:37 PM
Yes, one card per movie, of course you are right. :)

: Re: GOF cards
: EmmasOneandOnly July 04, 2005, 01:50:22 AM
So that does mean there is going to be a COS set which will be green and GOF which will be red

The update on the site says that they are only found in the Scene It DVD game.

: Re: GOF cards
: Bryanjs14 July 04, 2005, 04:41:11 AM
According to Non-Sports Update (which I know is not the MOST reliable) there WILL be a Chamber of Secrets set, however, Artbox has not said any kind of release date. My guess is it will come out NEXT year at the same time SS came out this year. GOF will be coming out late oct/nov.

: Re: GOF cards
: Morningangel-Iola July 04, 2005, 04:43:41 AM
There was talk that COS would come out when GOF was supposed to and it would be pushed back. It would make more sense though if GOF came out the same time as the film and COS came the following spring.

: Re: GOF cards
: ArwenEvenstar July 04, 2005, 09:53:13 AM
I email artbox and they told me they would have details on both sets in a couple of months and that production has not yet begun on either set. This is good because it gives me plenty of time to get my SS set complete.  ;D

: Re: GOF cards
: Morningangel-Iola July 04, 2005, 05:17:57 PM
And start saving ::)

Erm - is that Harry with a sorting hat on in Gof??

I think there's been a mix up - looks more like a few scenes from early films - that one by the lake looks like PoA -and it says they are a special handful of cards available in the Potter - "Scene It" DVD

Yes there is supposed to be a CoS set but it seems (from what I hear) that it will follow the GoF - which I think is best for all of us ;)

: Re: GOF cards
: ferdinand_the_yak July 04, 2005, 05:26:45 PM
I reckon is definitely one card from each release - the Dumbledore in the first one to me is most likely Richard Harris. And as Cindy said - Harry in the CoS, Harry and Sirius by the lake and Harry and the egg.

: Re: GOF cards

: Re: GOF cards

OK smarty pants ;)

He hee - looks awesome and it's the first time I've seen the pic of Harry and the egg - I couldn't quite believe it was the egg at first as I think Harry looks pretty young in that pic, but I agree it has to be that :)

: Re: GOF cards
: Morningangel-Iola July 04, 2005, 05:37:07 PM
Its the hair that makes him look young ::) but don't start me off again  :-X

Anyway Roz did you see the piccy I posted a page or so back with Harry in his bath robe with the egg?

: Re: GOF cards
: Roz July 04, 2005, 05:47:00 PM
I did - and what a smart bathrobe it is too!

If I remember rightly - doesn't the prefects bathroom have about 50 taps :D this I HAVE to see ;D

: Re: GOF cards
: Morningangel-Iola July 04, 2005, 05:49:19 PM
Yes and we already have designs on it ;)

Oh yes, they'll have to be lots of bubbles to pretect Dan's modesty ;)

*runs to hide under a pillow*

I think I'm going to wait and see on these sets, 800 cases was plenty - we don't want Artbox getting too big for it's boots again

Shall we shout incase they are listening?

: Re: GOF cards

What about a SS Update :o :o :o

: Re: GOF cards
: Morningangel-Iola July 05, 2005, 02:20:59 AM
I don't think they have enough bits for an update

: Re: GOF cards
: Tower July 05, 2005, 02:25:51 AM
I pray they have learned and will never release an update anymore.  :o=

I hope, it will be really GoF in November and CoS in Ssummer 2006. And no update.

: Re: GOF cards
: Morningangel-Iola July 05, 2005, 02:34:13 AM
They don't really need an update while there are others to do made really.

: Re: GOF cards
: allender July 06, 2005, 05:53:45 PM
As to Updates ... the initial reason that companies started publishing update sets (or Series 2, with earlier Topps SW cards and sometimes their widevision versions from a movie) is that the movie-makers wouldn't release some of the best shots for printing before the movie was released.

Then they also found that there was a perfect tie-in to when the movies were released on DVD, which perked up the audience again.

Sure, you can push a franchise to its limits and keep making cards until everybody is sick of them. But those first "marketing" pushers above don't apply to TSS. I wouldn't be surprised to see a GOF Update at DVD time, though.

: Re: GOF cards
: ferdinand_the_yak July 06, 2005, 06:24:26 PM
That's a great point Jeff... so its unlikely we'll see a SS or CoS update set, but depending on when the GoF movie and DVD is released relative to the GoF set, we may or or may not see a GoF update set...

Fingers crossed for no update! :o=

: Re: GOF cards
: EmmasOneandOnly July 07, 2005, 12:12:37 AM
If we'd see a update of SS we might see it in November, an update of COs in 2007 because if there is a release update for GOF it will be May for the release of the DVD

: Re: GOF cards
: Roz July 07, 2005, 12:18:33 AM
No no - seriously the updates are for additional un-released shots... an update of SS or CoS would be MAD  MAD MAD

: Re: GOF cards

I know, I cant spend ALL that money on updates and originals or else I'll seriously need a job.

: Re: GOF cards
: Roz July 22, 2005, 05:27:35 PM
Yes, they normally do it just before the film, you have to be careful to ignore the pictures and DEFINITELY NOT read any of the card backs!

: Re: GOF cards

If I remember correctly, the original POA cards were released just before the movie came out.

I hate auctions like this.  It's unofficial, unlicensed merchandise that infringes of JK'n and Warner Bros.'s copyrights.  All of the those images are available on the internet -- most of them can be found at fan sites like The Leaky Cauldron.

Thailand is like Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore; intellectual property "rights" to them means intellectual property "writes". If it can be copied they'll write it.

Just wanted everyone to know that I just got these cards!!  I bought the Scene it DVD game, HP edition and these cards come with it.  They are numbered 1-4, and there is a card for each movie.  The Chamber of Secrets card is of the Basilisk and looks great!!!  The color at the bottom of the card (below the silver line) is green.  It looks great!  I will try to get a good picture of them to post for everyone to see.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

Do you get all four cards with one game?

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: rns91294 July 26, 2005, 12:20:22 AM
All 4 cards come with the game.  The are wrapped up together, and I didn't want to open them, but my husband wanted to display them in our binder, so we opened them up.  Was the only way to see them anyway.

Mike, the game is out.  You can get it at Barnes and Nobles site (for full price Ibelieve) and it is currently on sale at their actual stores, which is where I got mine.  Maybe it came out the 15th of this month?

Oh yes, I would agree! Japan doesn't seem to have products like that. It's more like other Asian countries like China, Indonesia, and what not. I think Hello Kitty was having such unoffical products in other Asian countires. Plus, they've had a plethora of official POA stuff, and I would expect the same for GOF, or at least I'm hoping!

I got mine on the night of the Harry Potter party at Barnes and Nobles, I saw a guy carrying it and I made my brother help me try and track it down at the store so I could purchase one also  ;D

It really is a lot of fun isn't it  ;D Mikey (Zero) and my sister played it a few times now and it gets better each time. I love how they do the tie breakers

Congratulations Mike  ;D  I don't know what a GPA is (I assume grade point average but we don't have them in the UK) but that is one impressive set of A's and B's.  I bet your mum was dead chuffed  :)

Great job on your grades, Mike! :D

Can you post a link to the photo?

Yeah here in the UK we only understand As, Bs etc as that's what we work on ;) - or %ages make sense to us too :P

Congrats, sounds like you did well.

What exactly IS this scene it game? Some trivia based on some scene you are shown or what?

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: EmmasOneandOnly August 01, 2005, 01:01:47 AM
Thanks Roz

It works with your DVD player to where your so into the game all you have to do it shout out the anwser. No mics, no speakers, no nothing. Just the game, DVD player, and a TV ;D I've only played the Movie edition (and sucked at it  ) and it was great. It goes on forever because you just dont want to stop. Once you get the hang of it you just can stop. And it is a form of a Trivia game. They show you a few seconds of video or play some audio and you have to yell out where its from (not really sure anymore because I played the movie one last year :-\ )

Maybe you could get a better anwser from Sara or Wendi, the two on here thats played it. I'm not so sure just yet.

Careful with this.  I just saw this same scene it game at Toys R Us for $34.99.  Thing is, it is not in the nice colelctor's tin, and it DOESN'T come with the 4 cards from Artbox.  That is why it is cheaper.  Probably the same game, but the one at Barnes and Noble is the collector's edition.

That's good to know Sara.  I've been shopping around trying to find the best price for one.  I only want the promo cards, so I would be very mad if I got the game and it didn't have the promos in them.  I guess I'll have to get it from Barnes and Noble then. :P

No we don't. I hadn't heard of them til I bought some compilations of the early spiderman comics, they are B&N exclusives.. and no one else has reprinted them recently in coloiur (you can get B&W copies anywhere, but I have to ask ... what's the point? They were drawn painstakingly in colour so I must see them in colour ;)

That's interesting.. perhaps the B&N ones won't be around in special edition long

They were having a deal at my Barnes and Nobles for the Collectors Edition of Harry Potter Scene It...it cost me around $36.00 with the Discount and the membership card if that helps you.

The only GoF stuff I have seen so far are a couple of pictures. Also, I don't know if their are actually any scenes yet or not, but you never know because we only did play the game a few times so far.

The price you paid is better than what they have on their web site.  Their website price is $49.99 or $44.99 if you have a membership card.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

$49.99 was the regular price for the game but thanks to it coming out the night of the book release they had a special discount price on it. Also we bought a membership card earlier that day to get discounts on the six HBP books we ordered so that made it even cheaper.

Did you see if Target carried the game? Sometimes they have great sales on their toys and games  ;D

No I didn't look for it there.  I did look for the PC version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory video game, but they didn't have it. :(  But I thought the Collector's Edition Scene-It game was a Barnes and Noble exclusive. ???

It has to be wrong.  The movie is being released November 18.

Do you think they are a) very mixed up and talking no sense... or b) refering to the preview set - but even so the comment "approximately 1 month before the movie release" is perplexing

: Re: Original GOF card thread

if it was being released in september then surely we would have heard something about it by now  :-\

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum August 09, 2005, 05:17:28 PM
That isn't the first time there was an error in an Artbox email about a release.  I don't remember the specifics, but I'm sure that I got a similar email from them about the POAU release with the very same mistake -- someone said the release would be a month earlier than it actually was (as opposed to SS, which was delayed).  When I wrote back, the person corrected him/herself.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: EmmasOneandOnly August 09, 2005, 10:57:58 PM
Actually, they didnt anwser all my questions. I did ask the date of release to see if they would give me something different and asked if they could tell me some costumes they were using

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum August 09, 2005, 11:27:39 PM
I'm not surprised.  We've had a hard time getting info from them one week from release, never mind two months. ::)

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: rns91294 August 10, 2005, 01:45:31 AM
Sorry it took a while for me to answer the price of the game.  The B&N one I bought was indeed $49.99, but it was 20% off, so it cost $39.99, plus my state tax of 6%.  I  think if Target has it, then it would be the ones without the four cards in it.  Does B&N ship international?  They should.  I think it is definitely worth it.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum August 10, 2005, 07:42:54 AM
Even if Barnes and Noble ships internationally, I don't think US DVDs will play in the UK and Europe.

They should play if you have a multi-region DVD player.  :)

I just found a website that carries the DVD game that you can get at Toys R US.  Another word of advice.  Not only does it NOT come with te cards, it looks like it only comes with 3-4 plastic movers (game pieces).  The special edition one has the cards, tin, 6 nice pewter moving pieces, and it says on the box that the special edition has more trivia questions as well.  Just another update for everyone.

The 6 pieces in the collector set are the Golden Snitch, Hogwarts Express, Hedwig (Owl), Nimbus 2000 (Broom), Fluffy and the Sorting Hat. I called them Owl and Broom, John, my son (with imagination) says they are Hedwig and the Nimbus 2000.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

I think I posted some incorrect info about the cards in the Barnes and Nobles Goblet of Fire collectors edition game. I say I think because I can't find it to correct it. That means either, 1. I'm having a senior moment, 2. I was dreaming, or 3. The WEB Fairy knew it was incorrect and deleted it.

Anyway, I opened the cards in the Tin, here's the pix of the cards. The numbers are 01 thru 04. They are not "P" number cards. NOT PROMOS as we know them, no P's. Notice they are from 4 different movies.
Chamber of Secrets is in Green and Goblet of fire is in Orange.

Sorry the poor old eyes are not what they used to be  ::)  Do they say Scene It or Barnes and Noble anywhere on the cards?  What I mean is, is there anyway to tell they are different from a base set card (ie different writing on the back)?  I am just wondering how much I want them, as it seems us Brits are going to pay dearly for them  :(

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: MakTheYak August 11, 2005, 10:24:12 PM
Yes, if my eyes serve me ok - they have info about the films on the back - a synopsis of the films - more like a teaser than a description.

I have the HP Scene It game  ;D  I got it for my birthday but I havn't opened it yet.  It hasn't survived the trip across the Atlantic very well so we are waiting to see what Barnes and Noble have to say.  But it is a lovely tin  :)

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: rns91294 August 18, 2005, 01:34:01 AM
Yes, Rich, sad to see you go. I know I can not afford the GoF set either, but where there is a will, there is a way.  I will find the money!!!!!

Sharon, that is so sad.  I hope they will replace it for you.  Was it badly damaged?

Just a word of advise.  After 2 games, my husband and I keep getting repeats.  Then, we realize there is a setting on the game to avoid this from happening so much.  So don't get discouraged if you start to get repeats.  Just read in the directions on how to adjust the game settings.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Sharon August 18, 2005, 01:40:26 AM
Thanks for the tip.  I plan to thrash my Dad so I may be asking you for a few hints  ::)

One corner of the tin is completely crushed.  The annoying thing is that it must have been packed this way as the outer box was perfect and the celophane is intact.  If they have more I would like to swap but if it is a case of this or nothing I would rather have the dent  :)

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: rns91294 August 18, 2005, 01:57:44 AM
I am sure they have more and should be willing to exchange it with you or something,  I am sure the game itself is fine, but you get the cards and the tin with the special edition, so it should all be in perfect condition for you.  Let us know what they say.  And feel free to send me a PM anytime you want for some tips ;)

Woo Hooo nice pressie but a complete pain that's it's damaged like that! >:(
Did you get it from the Barnes and Noble online site Sharon as I've looked for it here in the UK with no luck? ;)
*Fingers crossed* they will offer a replacement with no fuss too. :o=

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Sharon August 19, 2005, 08:17:21 PM
Graham bought this for me (sorry I refuse to call him Bogleg  >:() ).  I will check with him how he got it (it was definately Barnes and Noble) but when I emailed them to check out shipping (not knowing he already had it) they sent back saying they didn't stock this game!  So I am not sure if it was for a limited time only and you can now only get the 'normal' version.  I have to say even though the tin is crushed on one corner it is a beautiful tin.  I have no idea why it is not sold here; it would fly off the shelves.

I tried everywhere in the UK (Argos, Amazon etc) and none would confirm if their version had the trading cards in it  :(

: Re: Original GOF card thread

Now, as the warning says. There are about 15 images I have seen from the Scene It? game from GOF. A few like Fleur, Cedir, Harry and Ron, Krum we've seen. But there are three we so far havent. One of them is Emma with her hair blowing back, one is of Krums headmaster, and the other is of the Triwizard Cup. The first two of Emma and Karoff are pictures like of Mad-Eye Moody, in a crystal ball, so all you actually see it their faces. The TriCup, as I call it, is bigger. Its standing on a kind of wooden or stone basin surroundred by four walls of the maze. Very exciting. I've been playing for about three hours straight and havent seen any snippets from the movie like the B&N site promises but I forgt to suffle up the guestions after playing Party Play.

Will update when I see more...

Got one, quick I know LOL

Its of Harry from the First Task, looking upward probably at the Firebolt or Dragon

Yet again,

This time its Cedirc in the Maze holding his wand and Arthur Weasley

I, again, havent seen any clips or snippets of audio. Just photos and puzzles. I havent Shuffles the anwsers yet, I'll be playing it again Sunday so maybe I'll get lucky!

If you buy a US version of the game for $49.99 that will no doubt save you some money. One question you should be asking is will the DVD play on European DVD players?
I understand that the DVD players  may have different codes.

I think they probably mean as many models as possible Mike.  The US version is definately a region 1 DVD.  The UK is region 2, along with I think France and Japan - but don't quote me.  I am pretty sure Germany is another region altogether - are you a region 3?  Unless you have a multi region DVD this will not play on your player.  Even some region 0 are having problems now (region 0 or region free DVD players were surpossed to play any disc but the companies are putting a special code on some discs to stop this.)

For anyone in the UK, WH Smiths do two DVD players that are multi region and only cost £30.  I have bought both version for various people and they are very good players - all the usual features plus things like zoom.  Graham has had his about 2 years now and, touch wood, it has been fine.

So on top of having to find a US distrubutor to send to the UK, paying loads of postage and risking import duty you now have to buy a new DVD player.  Now that is what you call devotion to Harry Potter

Like Sharon i see no problem in play the US DVD on a German or UK DVD-Player. I bought mine in 1999 and this player is codefree and play everying i want (except my pizza)

The other problem is that i do not want to play the english game alone   :'(

Yes all of Europe and Japan is Region 2 (which makes Anime nice and accessbile to Europeans - woo hoo)

LOL, forget the message. I just dont know how much space I can have on PhotoBucket. I'll be deleting them after the DVD comes out of my computer and PhotoBucket (no since in having them when I got the movie :P ) so I guess I can leave them up till people stop drooling over them and trying to figure stuff out

Well I cracked today and opened the Scene It game.  Barnes and Noble were being very unhelpful about replacing it and I didn't want to risk not having the cards  >:()

But good news is that it is perfect inside  ;D  I was a bit disappointed by the number of question cards but the game itself looks fab.  The challenges have been made - me and mum against dad and Bogleg.  So when we play I shall be popping out on the pretence of going to the loo but actually I will be logging on here for a little Yaky help.  I'll be counting on you  ;D

Apology time  :-[

A very big apology to Mike.  I have just put my Scene It DVD in a region 2 player and it was fine.  So really sorry Mike, it does seem it will play on any region.

Even more embarrassing is that I nearly lost to my Dad  :o  But what an excellent game.  Even if some UK Shackers can't get the trading card one I would recommend it as a great game anyway.  ;D

It looks like the GOF set is going to have tins too.  I didn't hear anything about it before but I noticed over at Potomac, they have pictures of one tin with the champions on it.  Had anyone else heard anything about them?

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Nienna August 31, 2005, 05:06:26 PM
I wonder if the foil inserts will have pix of the four champions?
Naturally we know nothing here in the UK ... unless a wee birdie has been whispering in Roz's lug'ole ...

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Roz August 31, 2005, 06:27:33 PM
I think we can safely say with whatever set Artbox do we'll always have tins ;) they love them - collectors don't :P Well some do - but most like their collection contained within boxes and binders that they can keep out of light... where are we supposed to keep tins in our minimalist modern luxury apartments ;)

Nienna, I don't know exactly what a lug'ole is .....But I hope it's civil.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

lug hole is an ear hole... I don't know where the phrase came from  but obviously it was taken into our language after the Mayflower set sail from Southampton ;) well either that or it got lost along with the British measuring system (yep, a pint is a bit smaller in America...)

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Nienna September 01, 2005, 01:44:14 AM
"lug'ole" might even be unique to the part of the UK I live in John ... we do have some strange words in the local dialect believe me! :D

ear'ole
tab'ole ... are a couple of other versions you'd hear in Derby too! ::)

OOOOOOOO lovely tin lid and imagine what the card will look like!! :D
The burning question we all want answered now, is just exactly 'what' are the inserts/autos going to be for this set, because too many members got burnt over the previous releases and it's time Artbox got themselves sorted out giving us this information.

Cool tin, they seem stuck on red (and Blue though) they could have had one for each champ.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

Since Cho Chang and Diggory play important roles, it would be great to get Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff ties.  Plus all 4 heads of houses AND Dumbledore.  Am I asking for the moon?  Probably.  Let's just hope we don't get Chang and Diggory black robes.  >:()

: Re: Original GOF card thread

Something from the four houses would be cool.

aaaaaaawwwwwwww!! :-\
Just think Kelly ... the black robes would match all the rest in the set!!! ;)

I would LOVE to finally get decent tie swatches from Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff - long overdue IMHO!
Prof McGonagall auto would be lovely, so too a Hagrid auto ... what about a dual auto with him and Madam Maxime .... I'm sure Barty Crouch Snr and Karkaroff will be contenders for an auto card and hopefully Fleur, Cedric and Krum too.
Could you imagine a card with ALL four champs signing it!?! OMG!! :o

Maybe Mr & Mrs Weasley will sign this time? Bill & Charlie - what about them?

I know, not much hope of that ever happening but it's nice to dream. ;)

: Re: Original GOF card thread

HUFFLEPUFF, GIVE ME SOMETHING HUFFLEPUFF. IS THAT SO HARD TO GIVE ME >:() >:() >:() >:() >:()

Ok, now that I've calmed down. I want a Hufflepuff tie, worn by Cedric (Robert) would be a even better. Got to get something from my house right, and something thats a varient. Never got a vareint duel :P

Ravenclaw would be nice too seeing as we woudl have one from every house now but I'd perfer, of course, Hufflepuff.

I'd like to see alot more, again, Hufflepuff stuff  Like all of Cedrics task uniforms, robes, scraf, etc. Are you with me Anna ;)

I'd like to see some Ravenclaw, as much as Hufflepuff seeing as that would have been me second choice as my house if I wasnt so stuck on yellow and black ;)

Some stuff from Viktor and Fleur. Not big fans but I want something from every task and champ.

A auto of all the champs would be nice, but indivitually because I'd more likely buy Harrys and Cedircs before Viktors and Fluers but I'd settle for a quad ;) .

For props, not really have my heart set on those, big fan of costumes at the moment. But the maze leaves seem  like a good idea seeing as I havent got a leaf from any set prior.

Maybe Sphine fur or something like that. Grinylow scale or gillyweed (posted that before). I'd really like to see something from the dragon. That would make my trading card year :o 8)

She does ... in the book!
I remember reading that the director decided not to film her part and her being quite upset about it - it was all to do with trying to keep the length of the film to something reasonable and not ten hours long! :o
Mugglenet or LC ran the article months ago ... :'(

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: mcgonagall September 01, 2005, 07:16:34 AM
i missed that article and i am really sorry they took that out i think that that scene would have shown the real bond that has grown between Mrs weasley and harry and how harry is looked on as one of her children

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Nienna September 01, 2005, 07:33:02 AM
True, but in the article Julie Walters said that she could see the director's point-of-view and the reasons why he cut her from this film ... she didn't really elaborate any further on it than that, only that she was naturally disappointed. I can't really remember much more than that as it was some months ago when I read it, so I'll be very interested to see what they've included and what they've cut when the film is released. ;)

You're correct, but the movie scalps the book and doesn't add the depth or build characters they way a book can.

I am so lost.  D I really need to read all these books a third time :-\

Are you talking about the fact that they never explained in them ovie who Moony, Padfoot, Wormtail and Prongs really were?

And Mrs Weasley was in the beginning before they left for Quidditch World cup too, right?  Of course, the Dursley's were cut out too.  I guess this one will start at the Quidditch World cup?

: Re: Original GOF card thread

I like the movies. but, they don't live up to their potential. They've missed a chance to make some really great movies instead of just very good ones.
*SIGH*
I guess they'll never be able to equal the books. I get the feeling they are just "cashing-in" with minimal output of effort.

It's accurate in that it has very accurately re-created the look, feel and magic of Tolkien's world... but the story itself had to be pretty twisted to work on screen.

I have to say that in a few years time, when all the books are out, I am hoping they make a tv series.  The first book could be say 12 episodes working up to OotP which could be a full 26 episode run.  That way the side stories and characters could be explored.

True, but the LOTR three sure came close. What it may have lacked in story, it more than made up for in visual effects.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

i think the lotr movies are "Moneymaking  + Hollywood"

The books are great but how many people read the books before the movies came out??? The first time i read the books i was 12 years old.
Tolkiens books are cult, you can read them again and again but this movies full of visual effekts are boring. The movies are made for your eyes but not for your fantasie.

It is the same with the Potter Movies, Titanic or every other "Big Hollywood Production". You can wach them 1 time maybe twice but then BORING. So many potential got lost only because they want to make money.

I definately prefer to read the books.

Really a huge number of people - I once heard it said that the English speaking world is only divided up into those who have read LOTR and those who are going to read it --- waaaaaaaaaaay before the movies came out.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Tea_and_Fruit September 02, 2005, 03:06:57 PM
This is like the Shakespeare filmings. Many people know and love the books. And other people watch the movies, try to read a book and did not even understand what Shakespeare meant.

Funny but i know a lot of people that say the films are great but however at all do not understand the sense and intention from Shakespeare.
This is why i think too much "Hollywood and effects" kill the charm of the books.

But by the films more people read the books.  ::) Thus films are only advertisement for the books.  ;D

In the 20th Century, no English-language writings had bigger sales than Lord of the Rings, except the Bible. It's going to be tough for anything to catch Harry Potter in the 21st, especially since we probably won't use paper books for very much longer!

Just in, the first rumours about content. Noticibly Devon Murray and the Weasley dual are repeated (unless it's a Weasley dual with 2 other members of the Weasley family), and there's no mention yet of them using that trophy, or indeed anything related to Cho Chang, but there's time yet, but this is the first trickle of info.

: Roz September 22, 2005, 01:39:32 PM
More info just in suggests that there will also be an Amos Diggory auto and repeats again that there are 600 cases.

Standard bits and bobs:

9 filmcards
3 Lenticular case toppers
4 different box toppers
9 foil chase

Ships early Nov 2005 (which doesn't leave much space in front of the film!!!)

Nothing against Warwick Davies - but do we really  need another auto from him in whichever role he's playing? ::)
However, that's a good line-up on the rest of the autos and I'll be very interested to see the costume card inserts! ;) ;D

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Roz September 22, 2005, 03:32:15 PM
I'm quite excited about the Dumbledore costume ;D along with the champion costumes and the evil Rita Skeeter (more misguided and selfish than evil)

But again, love Warwick Davies, but don't really want his auto for the 5th time ;)

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum September 22, 2005, 05:32:39 PM
there's no mention yet of them using that trophy

10 Case Incentive   :  Monolith Trophy

Maybe the monolith trophy is the trophy?

Other than some of the autos and Dumbledore's costume, I can't say I'm all that thrilled with the lineup so far. :-\

Georgetown Card Exchange is listing a release date of November 2 (they have boxes at $64.95 each, 3 or more boxes at $59.95 each, and cases for $574.95).

Digital Heroes has boxes for $65 each.  They also had this image of the binder:

And yes, we need TIES!! I dont see any hedge leaves from the third task (and I thought I'd finally get my first leaf from an HP movie :'( )

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: rns91294 September 22, 2005, 08:33:56 PM
Well, 6 costumes were not mentioned, so we could have ties....I am also still hoping to see a dragon scale in there somewhere.

Would you say the big auto of this set would be Brendan Gleeson?  I really wish Snape and McGonnagal would sign already!!!!!

And no mention of odds, huh?  Are we assuming it is one costume or prop per box, 5 autos per case and 3 filmcards per case again?

: Re: Original GOF card thread

I hope they throw some Emma and Katie stuff in there :-X

I really think they are letting out little tidbits just to give us the "whopper" so to say when they anounce they got Ralph Fiennes to sign. I would think they would be able to get him. However, I really love Brendan Gleeson also...so he will be an signer I am definetly going to hope to pull.

I'm hoping they use the inside red and yellow mesh from Harry and Cedric's task robes.  Not the outside black.

I hate to say it but the whole line-up looks weak. Once again no Hagrid, Prof. Mc, Prof Sprout, Nurse Pomfrey or Snape auto.  ::)  Props uninspired.   :P  Why not an Irish flag as well, Leprechaun gold, Dragon scales, Butterbeer lable, Rita's AUTO Write Quill, The Quibbler, and where is the rare "Veggie" prop.   ::) There are a lot of better subjects for PROPs than what seem to be in the news/rumor. I hope it is a LOT better than it appears. This is Artbox's chance to influence the next sets success. If GOF bombs the sets that follow surely will.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

wait, after a VERY quick rethinking of this...maybe they won't have Fiennes sign....I only say this because maybe they do NOT want a good image of Voldemort to be released before the film....I mean I know we got a quick flash of him in the new trailer...but a close up of him would more than likely be used for the card right? Which simply means, look forward to the Update set if you were looking forward to him signing.

I wouldnt mind if they used both because then I'd get both kinds of varients. Like they did for Harry's Quidditch Robe for SS (just not as thick )

I'd have to agree. I really dont like the idea of a trophey because thats not something as big (or cool 8) ) as a dragon scale or something. I'd love to have Leprechaun gold and Butterbeer Label...maybe Artbox DOES need to listen to us. Maybe then they'd actually make money ::)

That would be awsome...maybe they could use some of the better props then like they did for PoAU :P

Yep, 3 out of 9 props are Yule ball related.  Do we really need that many?  And a Dragon canopy and Dragon Bag?   ???  I'll definately be going for the costumes this time around.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: rns91294 September 22, 2005, 08:47:38 PM
Please no update set!!  Unless it yields better sgners/props/costumes than this.  Although to be fair, I do love the update set from PoA.

I do hope to see some of Emma's costumes and Ruperts as well.

And John, your prop suggestions were great!!  You should go work for them. I was expecting this set to be spectacular...well, I hope the few they are holding back from us are great!

As for the dual auto, maybe it is Mr and Mrs Weasley?  Although, she isn't in this one, is she?

I know, GIVE US SOMETHING FROM THE DRAGON. Not a bag ::) And do we really need a canopy or something from the Yule Ball. All I really want is the Invitation :P

I'm going with Kelly on this, the costumes are much better this set around. But I dont see my triple for all the task uniforms ;)

Dream on, Mike!  ;)  Maybe the Weasley auto will be the older Weasley boys.  Charlie and (forgot his name)  Were they both in GOF?

Possibly but why couldnt they just say that ::)

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum September 22, 2005, 09:10:54 PM
I don't know about the movie, but Bill Weasley is in the book.  He and Molly came to see Harry before the third task, and he was in the hospital with Harry afterward.  Dumbledore sent him to inform Arthur that Voldemort was back.  So, a Charlie and Bill dual auto is a possibility.

There will probably never be a Hagrid auto.  I've read that Robbie Coltrane refuses to sign autos for any card set.

Did anyone else notice there was no mention of a Daily Prophet prop?  They have to have one!  I'm counting on a Daily Prophet with every set. ::)

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but the dragon looks more leathery than scaly.

And Early November?  I want it now. lol.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Roz September 22, 2005, 09:30:07 PM
I think I read

a costume in each box
5 autos per case
3 props a case
and 3 filmcards a case

But that may be a slip of the keyboard, as that would mean cases were overloaded with things, we'll have to wait and see - info on insert odds are always rather vague at this stage.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: rns91294 September 22, 2005, 09:33:14 PM
Normally, I want it to be a costume or prop per box, as that gives me a better shot at pulling a prop (although I rarely do), but with this set, I think I like the costumes more...so far anyway.  Although, if those odds are right, it would be nice to get 2-3 inserts per box again, you know?

Is it just me, or is there less in this set that there was in SS?  You would think that with SS being an older movie, they would have been able to obtain less props and costumes than for this set, which is a brand new movie.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: EmmasOneandOnly September 22, 2005, 09:38:18 PM
Well you cant use everything from the movie then there would have to be 2000 cases to hold everything

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum September 22, 2005, 09:44:42 PM
Artbox doesn't announce every card with the first release of info.  I'm sure we'll find out about more cards sometime next month.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: rns91294 September 22, 2005, 09:47:06 PM
To be fair, Inkworks is coming out with the LOST set in November as well, and there is absolutely no information that I could find on that either.  So at least we got something from Artbox.

I agree.  If it's going to be one costume per box, I may end up buying a case.  That way if the collation is good, I'll have nearly a complete costume set.  I guess we'll see.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: darthmactor September 22, 2005, 10:47:51 PM
I gotta agree with LikORish-Spider on this one; the info/rumors up 'til now make the set seem uninspired. I could do without a Seamus or Prof. Flitwick auto again, go for some other member of Gryffindor or a different Prof. I am glad to see Brendan Gleeson and Miranda Richardson's autos in there, but really, they are the only ones I'm glad to see in there so far (I know, they have 2 of the 4 Triwizard Champions, half of them, but that's like having half a horseshoe; just can't play the game that way :p). As for the props, three from the Yule Ball, a Dragon Bag and Canopy, and a Burnt Tent? A Burnt Tent?!? Think of how big a tent is; it'll be like the Lupin Coat of the series, numbered to 4000, and your variants are crispy or non-crispy. And the one set in which a couple of Quidditch Robe cards would have been nice, they are gone. I mean, common, the Irish teams dark emerald green robes would make wonderful costume cards, and Bulgerias dark red would...um...okay, we have that color already, but that's besides the point really. I am looking forward to the Dumbledore costume card...or is that the material used to make Dumbledore's Costume card? Hm. Maybe I'm being overly harsh, and we really don't have the whole picture on the set yet, but I'm just not that excited about it yet (I'll admit, I was much more excited about SS at this point).

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: EmmasOneandOnly September 22, 2005, 10:53:36 PM
All I'm really pumped for is that we get to see a little of the movie thanks to the cards but...thats about it ::)

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: darthmactor September 22, 2005, 10:58:59 PM
We'll, given that this will be coming out the beginning of Nov. (or so they say), only a week or two before the movie, even that prospect isn't as enticing as it might have been.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum September 22, 2005, 11:26:57 PM
As for the props, three from the Yule Ball

POAU had three from the Divination class:  Unfogging the Future book, the red material with gold stitching, and the second Divination material prop that had two variations (blue background and purple background).  There were some really good variants for all of those cards.  Maybe the Yule Ball will also have nice variants. :o=  On the other hand, if those cards are very limited in number, their appeal will increase immensely!

Think of how big a tent is; it'll be like the Lupin Coat of the series, numbered to 4000, and your variants are crispy or non-crispy.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: sixpence33 September 23, 2005, 09:38:16 PM
 8) The scratch and sniff sounds like a great idea. lol  Maybe some socks? or maybe smelly t-shirt? The possiblilites are endless. Artbox needs to come up with something that will bring their franchise back "online". It almost seems that they dont have the money to sign the big name actors for autos and people that actually know how to be creative on the harry potter cards. Me and my son were talking about this the other day and he said that is why they produced so many of the POA update so they could pay the big 3.  >:D What do you guys think?

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum September 23, 2005, 09:49:43 PM
It's estimated that Emma and Rupert signed about 150 each, and Dan less than 100.  Just how much would they have been paid for that?

A lot of other sets have sketch cards.  If Artbox is having problems getting enough autos, maybe they should consider adding sketches.  They haven't tried this before, so it might get them some attention.

As for smelly cards, Artbox missed an opportunity with the SS set -- a troll costume!  We have a pop-up book for SS.  When we open the two-page spread with the troll, there's a terrible odor.  At first I thought something was wrong with the book.  Then I saw a small, round spot on a page and realized it was a scratch-and-sniff spot.  You definitely don't have to scratch it!  The smell is truly nauseating. :P

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: sixpence33 September 23, 2005, 10:41:32 PM
:D That is a good idea!  Sketch cards worked well with Star Wars. I hope artbox is reading this. I believe alot of collectors would jump in on this idea. Maybe they should further and have custumes and sketch cards together. I dont believe thats ever been done. How about autos and costumes together? My son told me that would be a great idea. Many of the sport cards that he collects are doing this now. Wow they have alot of options!  Lets hope they suprise us because if they dont they will loose alot of collectors. :o=

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: darthmactor September 23, 2005, 10:52:30 PM
At this point in the game, any spurt of creativy on Artbox's part may seem like desperation to those who have abandoned the ship, and those halfway over the side; but still, it'd be nice to see 'em get really creative.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: sixpence33 September 23, 2005, 11:19:41 PM
;D Yes very much. My son wants to pre-order two cases but with so few good signers, original costumes, and other ideas I wonder if I should? ??? What do yall plan on doing?

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: darthmactor September 23, 2005, 11:24:58 PM
Heck, I can barely afford one case, and that's with throwing any birthday money I may still get at 24 (well, 25 then) into the pot; but I'll still go for the case. Just because.

??? It sure makes it tuff to decide. My son is getting money for his birthday in a few days from his grandpa and harry potter was one of his choices to spend it on.  I wish I got that kind of money for my birthday! :'(

Hi all
At this stage i will probably buy a couple of boxes after the release rather than preorder anything.
I am actually excited about a few of the autos especially Cedric and Rita.
No way will i buy cases because of this but will save my money to pick these up on ebay and then buy boxes just for the thrill (and a base set or three).
SOOOOO looking forward to the movie and the set is MUCH, MUCH  more interesting to me than Sorcerer's Stone.

I had no interest in that set at all and i think more people will be likely to pick up Goblet than Sorcerers. Just because its more recent and doesn't feature all the gang when they were still tiny. The base set alone will be fascinating.

I really liked both Azkaban sets and still have warm feelings about the two releases. Then again i didn't buy lots of cases and lose lots of money  :'( but they are still a great couple of sets and have fantastic autos which we probably will never see in a release together again.
Anyway I can't wait for the release of the Goblet set and will be watching  :ebay: with hawk eyes.
Cheers
Inger

Me and my son were talking about this the other day and he said that is why they produced so many of the POA update so they could pay the big 3.  >:D What do you guys think?

I think that they made so many cases of PoAU because they had orders for so many cases.

Unfortunately people thought they were being clever - they were told they would probably be allocated (i.e. only given a small percentage of what they ordered), and they ordered double or more of what they wanted so that they would get enough.... so it all added up to disaster for dealers, especially in the UK where the whole market seems to still be in the doldrums because of it.

Personally I wouldn't collect HP sketches, but that's just a personal preference, but costumes and autos on one card is a great idea and has already been done in non-sports by Inkworks (X-files connections) and Rittenhouse (Enterprise) to name just a few.

I know what you mean Inger, the base set is something to look forward to a lot more than the SS one, but it was still a nice set to look at :D

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum September 25, 2005, 12:07:56 AM
The latest issue of Non-Sport Update confirms that there will be an update set.  Artbox wasn't allowed to use many CGI images for GOF, but they will be able to use them for GOFU.  Someone from the company was quoted that they have plenty of costumes and props to support both sets.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: HPfamily September 25, 2005, 12:42:20 AM
I was just browsing eBay at the pre-sales of GOF cases and came across this one.  What interested me was the breakdown this seller is quoting per case (from the VP of Artbox)!!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/HARRY-POTTER-and-the-GOBLET-OF-FIRE-10-BOX-MASTER-CASE_W0QQitemZ5245240117QQcategoryZ2535QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

If this is true, I will definitely be getting some cases!!! :o=

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum September 25, 2005, 01:08:25 AM
The seller is mistaken.  The numbers he's quoting are not per case.  They are the contents of the entire set; that is, Artbox is producing 9-12 autos, 8-10 props, 8-10 costumes, and 9 filmcards for the set.  The likely breakdown per case could be 5 costumes, 5 props, 5 autos, and 3 filmcards.

He also made a mistake here:  2 -3  box toppers (ONE IN EVERY 4 BOXES !)

A box topper is an insert that's put inside each box, not one in every four boxes.  I think he confused it with the case loaders -- the lenticulars that are packed one per case.  Artbox has produced three case loaders for each HP release.

Last, but not least, look at this claim:  MASTER is a fancy name for HOBBY, US BIGGER , (more money spending)!, dealers get "MASTER" cases, (rumor is they have a "bit more inserts", but no promise on that one).

He's implying that he's a bigger dealer and that he might be getting "master cases."  Unless this is something new, Artbox hasn't done master cases.  POA did have archive boxes, which contained all or most of the pack-pulled inserts, but they did not do archive boxes for POAU or SS.

For what it's worth, I had problems with this seller last spring. :-\  I would be very wary of any seller making claims like this one is.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

Yeah, he seems a bit fishy to me.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: HPfamily September 25, 2005, 01:23:38 AM
OOOOOOOOOOOHHH!  Now that you break it down like that, this seller does seem to be S-T-R-E-A-T-C-H-I-N-G the truth a tad!!!  >:(   As far as buying, I'll be buying from tomunique!!!

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum September 25, 2005, 01:31:59 AM
Anyone who buys from him and expects 35 inserts per case is going to be very disappointed!

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: sixpence33 September 25, 2005, 01:48:40 AM
I agree that a master case sounds a bit "fishy" to me.  :-\ I had a lot of difficulty getting my cases last year. (they didnt order enough) I will be watching for the best deal on ebay :ebay: A good hint for better prices is to contact some of the owners on ebay. Sometimes they will give a better price quote and throw in shipping for free! :o=

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: greenpaw September 25, 2005, 06:20:44 AM
I'll be joining HPFamily and going with Tom.
I have bought almost all my cases/boxes from him in the past (as well as an Azkaban master set in the early days-ie when i had money!).
He is the amongst the best i have dealt with on ebay.
Hmm makes me feel like buying another Update box...maybe this one will have my Triple auto! ::)

I wouldn't be interested in sketches and really hope Artbox doesn't go down that path. Pretty soon companies rely on sketches to sell their sets and let the autos and costume cards slip.
I'm sure its easier to get some little known artists to do some drawings than it is to get actors to sign cards.
Topps have done that with their Star Wars sets and i stopped buying them soon after (well soon after i got a Paul Rudish Clone Wars card-ok so some artists are worth it but there is alot of junk).

Ok I'm off to watch the trailer just one more time.
I so can't wait to see this film! I can't get over how consistantly well these movies have been cast. Victor and Cedric seem perfect to me even though i had my doubts when i first saw their pictures.

Dear Distributors,

LATEST UPDATE 09/21/2005

Costumes are inserted 1 per box, no guarantee numbers per box?  What does that mean?  They will insert one costume per box, but if they screw up on insertion and you get 0 per box, too bad for you?  ???

Amos Diggery is signing. I wish they'd get the wife to sign so I can have the whole Diggery Family

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Bryanjs14 October 01, 2005, 04:33:45 AM
Kelly,
It is exactly what the did with POAU, it is just to cover their butts whenever they mess up in production and we get dead boxes with nothing in them. They say one per box, but yes, there might be some boxes with nothing.

Artbox can do that though. Topps on the other hand i LOVE because they insert (for instance) LOTR costume cards from the TTTU set 1:33 packs, and there are 36 packs a box, so it is 100% guaranteed to get one, sometimes, on rare chance, you will even get 2 (as I did in a box) same goes for autographs....1:113 packs, with 144 packs per case

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: darthmactor October 01, 2005, 09:39:17 AM
3 prop cards per case? *sigh*  :-\ The more I hear, the more dicuraged I get about this set. Oh well, maybe it'll get better. :(

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum October 02, 2005, 07:58:08 AM
I believe that 3 props and 3 filmcards per case was the standard for the SS and POAU cases, too.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: darthmactor October 02, 2005, 11:13:21 AM
Well, I know it was for the filmcards, but for SS, wasn't it 5 costume/5 prop per case (though mine ended up being 4 costume/6 prop...stupid three restricted section book bits  >:D )?

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum October 02, 2005, 06:04:52 PM
Now that you mention it, I think the odds were either a costume or prop in every box.  But, did it mostly work out to 5 costumes and 5 props per case, or did it swing toward slightly more costumes than props?  I didn't pull a prop from any of my three boxes.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

I am loving the death eaters wand!
Cannot wait for these to start hitting e-Bay!

Most of the SS cases had 5 costumes, 5 props, 5 autographs and 3 filmcards.  There were noted variations like 4 costumes & 6 props or missing costumes/props also.  So it sounds like with the GoF set that the prop cards will be even more rarer (and expensive) than other sets if there are only 3 per case. :P

: Re: Original GOF card thread

Graet, even more harder to get prop cards.  >:()

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Sharon October 03, 2005, 12:54:54 AM
I just really hope they don't go silly with the thickness of the cards again.  Some made sense - the Fluffy fur, Wand cards etc.  But others like the quidditch cloak were unnecessarily thick.  I don't know if Artbox thinks by making them thick they look more expensive but for the collector they are just a pain to store.

After seeing some of the pictures from the film the one prop card I would love would be a dual Fred and George beard card.  That would be cool  8)

Gillyweed might be a possible prop card. Heres a picture from GOF

Fred and George's beards and gillyweed -- ohhhhh Kelly, I have some new prop ideas for you! ;D

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: grecopa October 05, 2005, 03:32:33 AM
I'm fairly certain that one of the props in the new set or the update will be a World Cup poster.  Someone has a replica up on ebay right now.  I thought it was just a made up one, but then I saw a really blurry photo from SDCC and it had the poster in the background.  I'll try to find a link soon.

:D Thanks Kelly!  Looking forward to all the info that we can get our hands on. ;D

: Re: Original GOF card thread

Wait a minute, wait a minute!  I just found a clearer picture but it says PROGRAM on it.  ???  I thought the mulicolored squares booklet was the program.  It's in the photo on the second row, 3rd from the left.  Under the blue wand box next to the Wonks stuff.  I never noticed it before and I've looked at these pictures a lot.  It looks like it has a bunch of colorfull pages, but why are there 2 differerent props that say PROGRAM on them?  :-\

Here's another.  Scroll down to 2:53 time.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum October 05, 2005, 05:25:29 AM
Maybe it's a program for a different event, like the Yule Ball or the Triward Tournament.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: grecopa October 05, 2005, 05:30:34 AM
Nope, check the second photo I just posted as an update.  It's definately Quidditch, but I also know that it has all of the world teams listed on the cover of the blue one.  So maybe the blue is the playoffs and the squares one is the championship final?

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum October 05, 2005, 05:35:34 AM
;D I just went to that board to look, too!  Since I've already uploaded two scans to my Photobucket account, here they are.  Maybe, then, it's like going to the theatre or ballet -- you receive a free program when you walk in the door, but there's also a glossy, full-color program you can buy.

That might be it.  ;D

: Re: Original GOF card thread

Hang on we always have to buy both programes ??? yeah think that may be it anyway ;)

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: grecopa October 05, 2005, 06:07:09 AM
So now we have a Yule ball invite, Yule ball poster, Yule ball banner, World Cup Program 1 and a World cup program 2?  That's 5 of 9 props and not very inventive.  :-\  Maybe one of the programs will be in the update.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: EmmasOneandOnly October 05, 2005, 08:17:50 AM
I hope the whole set is not props from The Ball and Cup ::)

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Bryanjs14 October 05, 2005, 08:31:58 AM
it is still blowing my mind that they have not anounced a whole set of anything yet, we still do not know all the props, costumes, or autographs for the set. Just to know all 9 costumes, or all 9 props, or anything would be nice. I want to buy a case or two from tom....but I don't know if this set will be worth it at all.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

??? It looks like they what till the last second until they announce to keep us guessing. You would think this would be the other way around :P Hopefully they will shock us with something outstanding at the last second.  :o Do all of yall at the Yakshack think this is the way to do business?  8) Maybe reverse sycollegy? I would think this would hurt their sales.  What do you think Roz?

I think it's a very poor way of getting interest in a new release - many other card companies have detailed information as to what's going to be inserted into their sets but Artbox don't seem to like doing that.
Don't hold your breath on being shocked by an outstanding last-minute card insert either ...
Mind you, we all had a heap of fun reading what Anna and John got when they broke their card cases a few months ago, so perhaps they'll be good enough to repeat it with GoF ... ;)

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Bryanjs14 October 06, 2005, 01:08:31 AM
I believe I may have said this before, but I think the Update for this set is going to be GREAT. I know for a fact that Artbox cannot use most of the CGI for the film, so this means the Dragon, and I would be SHOCKED is they had a card with Voldemort on it...this means we could possibly be looking forward to a Ralph Fiennes autograph and maybe the one card everyone seems to want, the dragon scale, in the update. Plus (because I have not read the books) I am sure there are a TON of other cool possibilities as far as the CGI/Animatronic creatures go

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: EmmasOneandOnly October 06, 2005, 01:17:49 AM
The creatures in the movie are the dragon, mermaids and grindylows. Thats about it for this one. I dont think Dobbys in it because they toke out S.P.E.W. and it looks like Neville gives Harry the Gillyweed, not Dobby ether. I want to see for the update a piece of the Portkey boot...is it still a boot in the movie :-\. Well, if it is then I want a piece. I want Emmas Yule Ball Dress too.

Anyways, I hope they do gives us at least something good at the last minute. I'm really only going for Harry and Cedric this time so I probably wont care if this is all they give us. I'm much more looking forward to the Update :o=

Agreeing exactly with what FTY just posted!!! Methinks, this may change my opinion on this set ... it's about time ^-^

Oh yes and another shot at the Sirius auto doesn't hurt either ... I wonder how many more of these artbox "updates" we may see until the release. How many was it for the SS set.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

I like the design of the cards, too.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Bryanjs14 October 07, 2005, 08:46:17 AM
wow!!!
Artbox did exactly what I hoped they would do! I wanted a Sirius autograph from the POA set SOOOOOOO badly and now I might also have a better chance. I am excited about this now. I was going to just go for a master set, but it sounds like I might be ordering a case or two to open!

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Anna October 07, 2005, 08:47:41 AM
The cards do look cool 8) , but what is that pyramid thingy?  Could that be the Monolith Trophy prop card? ???  It looks taller than the CatCF Long Grass prop card! :o

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: blackcat20 October 07, 2005, 08:48:16 AM
The design is very cool.Slightly different to what weve seen before which is great!

yep, i think thats the trophy...

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Bryanjs14 October 07, 2005, 08:49:22 AM
oh boy, here come ridiculous Variants! look at all the different plates on the trophy, you know this one is going to be a huge seller on ebay

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: blackcat20 October 07, 2005, 08:51:50 AM
depends on how many too i guess...and which part of the trophy they actually use...

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Bryanjs14 October 07, 2005, 08:53:11 AM
well....if it is the 10 case variant and there are 600 cases being made there should be 60 of them. The trophy looks HUGE...so you are right...not a lot of it will be used at all.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: blackcat20 October 07, 2005, 09:03:12 AM
Do they actually make 60 though? cos the cases arent necessarily sold in 10-case lots...

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Bryanjs14 October 07, 2005, 09:16:28 AM
very true. Usually they make extra though and keep some or give them out among company workers

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Anna October 07, 2005, 09:20:37 AM
For the SS set the 10-case incentive was the Wand card which were numbered to 205 and there were 800 cases.  So they do make quite a few extras.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: darthmactor October 07, 2005, 10:02:47 AM
Hm...all my grumping and hrumping about how little this set has interested me thus far may be a little brighter...if only because of a chance at a Gary Oldman auto card. I would like some more info on prop cards and a picture or two, though, before I decide to get really happy about the set though (the picture of the Barty Crouch Jr. prop card makes me think of some baaaaaaaaaad 80's wardrobe.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Scifi Cards October 07, 2005, 10:05:55 AM
Am I the only one that is a bit disappointed with Artbox on the fact that they have mentioned 3 props in specific on this sheet, 2 of which are high-end incentive cards? >:()

Not only that, but the fact that I find out about this here instead of from the fine folks who sell me the cards... :P

Good thing Artbox has a few good licences to keep people coming back, because their business and marketing practices sure don't make me want to keep ordering from them...  >:(

I knew their 2nd half of 2005 release schedule was too ambitious.  Does not look like either Zorro set will be made, Frankenstein has been moved back to December, and no word on Doom either...  The only thing that keep the Potter cards coming on time is that I would imagine they have a contractural obligation with the studio to have the cards released prior to the film's release.

[soapbox mode off]

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Roz October 07, 2005, 02:26:33 PM
The new swatch design is cool and really gives it more of a medieval feel. I also think that somehow it makes the swatch look bigger, although I bet it's the same size ;) great illusion!

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum October 07, 2005, 05:23:04 PM
the picture of the Barty Crouch Jr. prop card makes me think of some baaaaaaaaaad 80's wardrobe.

Maybe it is!  The costume might be from the pensieve scene when Crouch Jr. was on trial for torturing the Longbottoms in 1981.

Does anyone know what the Monolith Trophy is?  I can't remember that term in the book.  Is it presented to the winner of the Quidditch World Cup or the Triwizard Tournament?  I've sent an email to Artbox, but they might not know.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Bryanjs14 October 07, 2005, 06:53:50 PM
I could be completly off on this, especially since I have not read the books...but I was under the impresion it was just one of MANY trophies in the Trophy Room...because of the fact that it is so big (or so it looks) it will stick out on film pretty well (hopefully) I believe each little plate on there is a different award and they just filled up the trophy with different awards. But then again, I haven't even read the books...so that is my shot in the dark

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum October 07, 2005, 07:25:23 PM
There is a picture somewhere of Harry in a trophy room.  I'll have to find it.

**********

Well, I can't find that picture, but I did find this:

Some of the plates read:

Class of 1984

Seeker of the Year 1983

So, it must be a Hogwarts trophy.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: rns91294 October 07, 2005, 08:19:10 PM
Oh My!!  I Love the new swatch design!!

And for Sirius's auto, is the picture going to be his head in the fire?  That is all he has in this movie, right?

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum October 07, 2005, 08:26:10 PM
In an interview, Gary Oldman said that the only thing he does in this movie is talk in a fire.  The picture on the card would have to be the fireplace scene.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

;D SEE GUYS, YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LITTLE FAITH. ARTBOX CANNOT AFFORD TO LET THIS LICENSE GO DOWN HILL..(THEY WOULD LOOSE TO MUCH MONEY AND HAVE A HARD TIME GETTING OTHERS.) STILL IT DOES BOTHER ME HOW THEY LET JUST A LITTLE INFO AT A TIME OUT. >:() THE GARY OLDMAN AUTO REALLY MAKES ME HAPPY ;D AND THERE MIGHT BE A FEW MORE SUPRISES AT THE VERY END. :o

: Re: Original GOF card thread

There have to be Sixpence, it's really not that exciting as yet is it?

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: darthmactor October 07, 2005, 09:44:40 PM
I have to agree; I mean, Gary Oldman and Brendan Gleeson as signers is nice, but we still haven't found out a whole lot about props, and only a few things about costume cards, so, no, as of yet, it's not really that exciting.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: rns91294 October 07, 2005, 10:03:21 PM
I was considering upping my order of 4 boxes to 5, but then I remembered there will be an update set.  I might have to wait for that set to get more boxes with.  I mean, if I knew more about the props and costumes in this set......then maybe....but they don't tell us enough info!!!!

With 4 boxes, I could get 1-2 autos, hopefully 1 prop and 1 filmcell, and 4 costumes, right?  I mean, if there is a prop, then you still get a costume, right?  Or is it back to one prop OR costume per box?

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: darthmactor October 07, 2005, 10:07:31 PM
One prop OR costume per box? Oh, didn't you hear? Taking a page from Topps E-card book, Artbox is putting cards with PICTURES of prop, costume, or auto cards in it boxes; when you get one, you know you have it at Artbox HQ, safe and sound, in pristine condition.  (for those just waking up this morning, yes, I'm joking  0:) )

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: sixpence33 October 07, 2005, 10:12:15 PM
;D WATCH OUT DARTHMACTOR! ARTBOX MIGHT JUST DO THAT!

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum October 07, 2005, 10:22:02 PM
Each case will have 10 costumes (one per box), 5 autos, 3 props, and 3 filmcards.  Please note that this is not a GUARANTEE, just the stated odds.  Artbox will not guarantee the distribution in any box or case.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: rns91294 October 07, 2005, 10:27:08 PM
So I know this is not a guarantee, but basically, lets just say that a case does indeed contain these cards..  That would be 21 cards in each case...so we should hopefully see 9 boxes with two inserts, and 1 with 3.....that would be great!

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: darthmactor October 07, 2005, 10:27:45 PM

Exactly! ;)  Even if you get a dud box, you'll still have lots of base cards and some foil cards.  That's worth $50-$60, right? ::)

Now you all know what I was saying.... I was saying if by some miracle, the stated odds were actyually in a case, there should be 21 cards total in the case.  I never said it would actually happen :P

It switches from Hermione to the HP logo.  It's brown, sort of like a sepia print.  I think it came from the GOF website.  I'm going to check!

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: rns91294 October 08, 2005, 12:31:45 AM
Well, if I recall, those who got dud boxes with SS were opening cases, and they managed to get cards in the case to make up for the dud box.  If it were to happen this time, and I  :o= it doesn't, I can only hope it would not happen to those getting only one box.

Thanks Kelly!  I will have to check it out later from a computer that actually works right.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Sharon October 08, 2005, 01:13:02 AM
From what people posted about the SS set there were very few dud boxes.  I agree if you are only getting one or two boxes, any duds are too many.  But if Artbox do this like SS I think it will be really good.  I also really want a Gary Oldman - well that's all the Sirius cards bagsied for the Shack ;)

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: HPfamily October 08, 2005, 01:18:53 AM
H*ly COW!!!  Seeing all of this recent info just intensifies the eagerness (is that a real word?) to want these
NOW, NOW, NOW!!!!!  I can't wait!!!

I bought two cases of SS and I was very happy with what I got.  I didn't get a single repeat!!! Out of all of the sets, I hope GOF is a lot like SS.

Excuse me while I go buy another case from Tom!!! ::)

BTW!!  Love everyones new avatars!!!!

I should probably change my avatar soon, but I like the colors of it so much!!!  Maybe if I could get a moving Basilisk from CoS, or a dragon from GoF......Hmmmmm, I could use my pumpkin from last years Halloween too..........

Anyway, back to Gof (got side tracked there for a second..sorry), I am extremely excited.  Now, what can I do until then to keep me busy??

What is the official release date?

I originally heard end of October, then beginning of November; so, kind of like with SS, whenever they decide to stop pushing it back.?. :P

People in the UK (and other countries overseas) pay a lot more for their cards than we do in the US.  They have to pay real hefty import/customs duties on their cards. :P  I think this is a normal price for them to pay for a case of box. :-\

EDIT: I forgot to add that they pay around US $65 a case for shipping too. :P

: Re: Original GOF card thread

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Nienna October 13, 2005, 01:32:48 AM
T'isn't funny how much we have to pay ... :'(
Maybe now you'll understand why so many UK buyers look to the US to buy their single cards and make such a fuss over how the Customs forms are filled-in for their items. :-\

: Re: Original GOF card thread

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: EmmasOneandOnly October 13, 2005, 04:46:10 AM
They'll check your bags but they wont take anything. I brought back loads from Las Vagas and all they did was throw it (not litaraly) through this huge scanner and send it to the plane. I know its not like from the UK to the US but if it doesnt seem threating then they wont inspect it throughly. I dont think they'll take it because its a threat for a paper cut

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: Morningangel-Iola October 13, 2005, 04:58:13 AM
Yeah maybe they might not realise how expensive they are. Its not fair becuase you can't get them over here, Cards inc cards are ok but they don't have the cool inserts and they didn't even do SS/PS :(

(Sorry I am just re-reading GoF and am being particularly picky ;) )

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum October 14, 2005, 06:16:08 PM
It's supposed to be blue, but maybe the director thought pink went better with her coloring or stood out better against the gray-steel blue colors in the Great Hall.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: ferdinand_the_yak October 14, 2005, 07:04:53 PM
Just me being picky... it all looks lovely regardless, although Harry WAS meant to be wearing bottle green dress robes *is being one of those annoying book fanatic types* ;)

All these tantalising pics - I don't know if they are good or bad... reminding us how long we have to wait! I have to say this is one of the movies I have been looking forward to the most in recent times, the only other movie I think I got more excited about was probably Return of the King :)

My hair could look like that if I had a stylist doing it everyday, well I may need some major extensions ;)

Also doesn't harry look a little freaky in that picture...maybe it is the first time he has touched a girl, or he wants to bite her head off (:D#.    A player would look a little less excited

I'm kind of disappointed. I read in my Movie Magic magazine that "Some Hermione scenes had to be cut so the film could focus more on Harry" I wish we could vote on what goes into the DVD so we could have all these scenes ;D...

Mike,
I have been wondering the same thing it doesn't sound like the release date is even firm at this point so I guess we will see.  At one point the release was rumored to be Nov 3 or 4 I think I heard that is only a few day past 2 weeks, it would seem they are going to push it back.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: EmmasOneandOnly October 18, 2005, 09:26:38 AM
I'd hate to see the movie before the set ::) I guess thats Artbox for you :P

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: beckham1 October 19, 2005, 11:43:13 AM
Hate to keep asking but has anyone heard a release date lately, at one time I thought it was supposed to be November 4th.  I am hoping that I will have mine in hand by NOV 11 because my brother will be out to California visiting from the 2nd to the 12th and I am hoping I can get him interested in some nonsports cards like HP.  It sucks that most people (other than YSers) think it pretty crazy.  I am keeping my fingers crossed for that time frame.

Modified to be NOV.... :-[

I had a dream last night that I won a box of GOF cards before they came out. The funny thing is, the autograph I pulled out of the box, was actually two Warwick Davies autographs stuck together
Even in my dreams I cannot pull good autographs!

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: rns91294 October 21, 2005, 02:42:10 AM
   That is just too funny

My husband keeps insisting that in our 4 boxes, that is the one auto we are definitely going to pull.

I will be okay with it, as I have all his other ones, so I sort of feel like I need this to go with them, but it would be nice to have to buy that one, and pull a different one.

Isn't it sad how all of us dream about these cards?

Are you talking about my mention of the dream I had with the Diggory Dual?  An auto and costume in one?  Maybe I should email Artbox.

Speaking of, I emailed them to see if they would be attending the NY Comic Con in February...and they never got back to me >:(

So...with only 11 days left in the month, do we think we know what the release date is?

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: beckham1 October 21, 2005, 11:55:28 AM
So...with only 11 days left in the month, do we think we know what the release date is?

That is like the million dollar question.  I don't think anyone knows at one time the word was Nov 4, but by now I have a hard time believing that date will be met.  I usually check potomac's website and they have ship dates listed on preorder products.  Right now it says the 14th of Nov which from previous releases would likely mean the first cases will be opened a few days before that.

On the other hand they had the release date for Doom on Oct 17 up until today (the 20th) and they changed it to Nov 30 and Doom is an Artbox release.  I was interested to see the Doom set, but I think it will be a bust if they actually don't release it for a month and a half after the movie has come out...that just makes no sense and seems like a huge screw up.  I wonder if it is Artbox's mistake.  Has that ever happened before that a release was delayed over a month and a half after the movie was already released.  I think WB would be PO'd if they didn't get the set out by the time the movie is out.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: EmmasOneandOnly October 21, 2005, 02:21:59 PM
I know, I have alot of online friends buying a box just for the base cards for a preview of the movie and decided to keep whatever they pull and they told me that if the movie comes out before the set they are going to ask for a refund because they see no since in buying it after to both Artox and Warner Bros. will lose a few dollars off them.

I'm hoping a praying they dont push it THAT far back because I would also like to get a box before the movie for the base set preview.

I sent Artbox an e-mail asking for the release date and they just replied:

Hello Anna,

Thank you for your inquiry.
The release date is Nov. 4, to be shipped from our facility.

Please see the attached for an update.

So as of right now, it's still scheduled for the 4th, but does this mean they'll ship on the 4th? ???

The attachment they sent me was the flyer that was posted earlier in this thread.

Anna, based on what they said "The release date is Nov. 4, to be shipped from our facility." It would appear that they plan to ship them on the fourth from their warehouse or business center. So expect a couple extra days for them to hit the streets, the streets of course meaning Ebay

: Re: Original GOF card thread

I emailed Artbox this morning about the release date, and here is the response:

Release date is Nov. 4, and that's when it'll start shipping from our facility.

Looks like it's still on track. :)

Oops!  Sorry Anna, I didn't see your post when I posted! :-[

Have you seen this?

Nope, I don't think I've seen this one, John. Thanks ;D

But, I can't help but saying that it seems half of this set will be incentive cards ...

25 Case - Death Eater Wand
10 Case - Monolith Trophy (or however you spell that)
5 Case - Death Eater Costume
2 Case - HP (Daniel) Cards

1 Case (Tins) Incentive Card

I know I'm exaggerating, but I can't help it :-\ I wonder if they will have a 50 Case Incentive like the did for SS ???

I sincerely hope that Harry's triwizard costume is NOT a 2 case incentive.  >:()
Thanks for the picture, John!  I can't make out what the second card shown is.  It's a prop, but what?

Thanks for the picture, John!  I can't make out what the second card shown is.  It's a prop, but what?

The scene looks like the trial chamber were Kararov was tried. There is a photo on a thread that shows him and he looks like Sirius at first glance. Isn't that the accused's chair? I have no idea what the swatch is. It looks like part of a letter. Perhaps it's the charges against Karaarov.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: darthmactor October 22, 2005, 10:38:17 PM
*sigh* so even when we do get a flyer with "info" on the prop cards, theres nothing decent on it

Me as well but it wouldnt be that expensive to buy seeing as there would be a few hundred.

Yeah it really does look like it though Kelly, but we'll have to see. I'm mopping my brow that I'll have one but we have some members who have bought lots of cases so I'm sure that they'll have some spares.

And Mike in relation to numbers they need 300 as you say so I think we can expect it to be numbered to 450-600 or so, I'd be surprised if it was less, but I'm always glad to be surprised ;D

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: EmmasOneandOnly October 23, 2005, 01:41:19 AM
If it is a good costume card I'm sure us under-10-box getters should be able to find one and they shouldn't be :o OUTRAGEOUSLY :o expensive like a 20 or 30 case incentive

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum October 23, 2005, 02:32:53 AM
Thanks, John!

Well, the new info is that there will be a Dark Forces book prop, a Death Eater costume (wonder if it'll be the robes or the masks?) 5-case incentive, a Harry costume 2-case incentive, and an unknown case incentive for the tins.  I think Artbox could have given out a little more info. :-\

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: zero October 23, 2005, 02:35:31 AM
I can't remember if this was discussed or not, but the colors for the Costumes and Props are very similar to PoA/PoAU. They use the Dark Green and Deep Blue for both of these sets except the design behind it is quite different. So far, the pictures that they sent were close-ups of characters for both colors except the deep blue that has the cage in it. Is it safe to assume:

GoF
Costumes are Dark Green
Props are Deep Blue

PoA/PoAU was the complete opposite:
Costumes were Deep Blue
Props were Dark Green

This isn't that important, but it easily confuses me.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: thor October 23, 2005, 04:06:32 AM
I would love to have a piece of the Dark Forces book myself  ;D

The Props and Costumes sound good to me then again this is my favorite book of all of the Harry Potter's so I am probably going to be easy to please when this set is released  :-[

Only two more weeks  :D

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum October 23, 2005, 07:29:28 AM
I'd like a Dark Forces book, too.  It would go well with the restricted section book from SS and the Unfogging the Future book from POAU. ;)

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: darthmactor October 24, 2005, 12:20:51 AM
Dark Forces, Dark Smorces, gimmie a daily prophet card and I'll be happy. I mean, they gotta have on, right?  :-\

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum October 24, 2005, 12:48:42 AM
If I could get only one card from this set, it would be a Daily Prophet. :)  It was the first HP card I had to have, and I've been lucky enough to get one from every set so far.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: grecopa October 24, 2005, 01:20:16 AM
That's funny how people go for different things in a set.  I only have 1 daily profit from the PoAU set and that's the only one I plan on getting from any release.  Yet I have all 5 of the different wizard candy from SS.  Go figure!  :)

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: kbmum October 24, 2005, 01:29:09 AM
So far, Artbox has had a nice assortment of cards, particularly the props.  I hope there is some improvement in the list of props we've seen for GOF.

Sounds interesting but I am not happy that the Harry card (doesn't sound like there will be others) is a case insentive >:() Ok I might eb able to buy one, but I'd rather have the chance of pulling it :(

seeing a movie in an IMAX theater is simply one of the most amazing moviegoing experiences there is. I saw Star Wars Episode III and Batman Begins in an IMAX theater and there is nothing like it.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

Kinda off subject, but when artbox ships a case UPS, which speed do they use? I ordered from Tom, and it's being dropshipped, so it didn't go out, I'm assuming, until yesterday; do they use ground or air shipping?  :-\

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: HPfamily November 18, 2005, 12:28:35 AM
I was wondering the same thing. Also, do you have to sign for the cases?

: Re: Original GOF card thread

I'm pretty sure that Artbox uses UPS Ground or a similar speed with Fedex.

: Re: Original GOF card thread
: darthmactor November 18, 2005, 12:32:22 AM
UPS Ground? Well, poop. That sucks. According to the UPS site, if they use UPS ground, and it shipped Wednesday from Artbox in California, it won't be here, in Oregon (one state up from California for the geographically challenged), until at least Monday.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

UPS ground.  You don't have to sign.

: Re: Original GOF card thread

Still poop, rather or not you need to sign or no. Still won't get it until Monday according to the UPS site.
