: Need to get a new scanner....does anyone know anything about combo units
: beckham1 May 21, 2005, 12:39:21 AM
My scanner seems to not be working....I don't know what the problem is, so I may have to get a new scanner.  Also my NEW printer is a piece of crap and rarely feeds paper properly without saying load paper (when there is paper in the slot) and half the time detects a jam when I print.

Anyway I am thinking if I have to get a new scanner maybe I will get a combo scan/printer and kill both birds at once.  Does anyone have a combo unit???   Do you like it?   Would you recommend it???

I will either pick it up tonight or Sat so advice would be appreciated.

I have a nice little unit from HP, a scanner/printer/fax model that only put me back $100. Not to bad a price, and it works just fine.

that's a bargain! for just $100 I'd go with that one... and I don't even know anything about it! HP is generally a good make though, I've found, with excellent customer support.

But the HP Ink is very expensive even if you fill up the tanks by yourself. I have a Canon Combo "Smartbase MP360". I pay 65€ and each Ink tank cost me 1€ so the costs are very cheap.

We have two scanners, a Dell flatbed and a HP all-in-one upright.  Both work fine and the all-in-one has its advantages, but I'd suggest whichever scanner you get, make sure it's a flatbed.  Otherwise you can't scan pictures of your cards. ;)

I have a HP PSC 1110 all-in-one.
It works just fine, and if you have Photoshop, you can go File>Import>PSC 1110.

Then crop and adjust in PS.
Works wonders! Although, I dont remember how much it was.
