: Re: Error Filmcell card : rns91294 May 17, 2005, 12:48:18 AM I think it is a mistake card, and it is possible it should go for more than the normal filmcard would go for, but $50 is a bit much. Do you consider it a mistake?

Do you consider it a mistake? I am a bit funny on these things. I think this is a variant, but many on here would disagree. But do you remember that ugly costume card (the Robert Hardy one) that only had half a bit of material? I considered that a mistake because it was ugly. This film card is intact, just a bit different so in my opinion OK. Still think the price is too steep. :-\ But then again I like unsigned autograph cards so I am not the best person to judge ;D : Re: Error Filmcell card : rns91294 May 17, 2005, 01:51:03 AM I see what you are saying. The Robert Hardy one was absolutely a terrible mistake. The seller should just send it back to Artbox for a replacement.
As for this one, the card is in great condition, but i only consider a mistake (one I wouldn;t mind owning) because there is nothing "different" about the card or cells, just that they are upside down. I would love to have this card, but again, not for this price. I agree with you there :D : Re: Error Filmcell card : Tea_and_Fruit August 12, 2005, 01:11:35 PM I have pulled one of this upside down cards, so if someone is interested please PM me

Gets back to the old 'Is it a variant or a mistake' card question :-\ $50.00? It sold for $24.++. : Re: Error Filmcell card : Roz August 12, 2005, 08:27:08 PM p'raps it had a buy it now??
: Re: Error Filmcell card : sketchqueen August 12, 2005, 10:44:35 PM Variant, mistake, or damage? To me a costume card where there's only half or partial material is a damaged card and should be returned. A mistake (or error) is like an upside down piece of film, or an auto card that is unsigned. Those should be returned for corrected cards, OR kept by the owner if they like oddities.
A Variant can only exist if there is a correction, or it is intentional. For example, a costume card can be a variant if the main portion of the costume is White, but there's a thin strip of purple running through it - a purple card would be a variant. An autograph card can be a variant if most cards say "John Smith" but a few say "Love, John Smith" or ":) John Smith" A basic card can even be a variant if there was an error, but it was corrected - we had the unfortunate problem of spelling "Amanda Tapping" wrong on a card - we fixed it, so there is a variant version of that card out there - one that says "Amana Tapping" and one that says "Amanda Tapping". I won't usually "fix" variants - if someone gets that White costume card, they can't return it and ask for the Purple version, or the "Love, John Smith" auto - but I will fix damaged cards and usually fix mistakes too as long as it's within my ability... : Re: Error Filmcell card : kbmum August 12, 2005, 11:29:32 PM Those are really good definitions. Thanks, Joanna! I've seen some debate about this on NSU, and people have different ideas what constitutes a variant vs. an error vs. damage.

Gets back to the old 'Is it a variant or a mistake' card question :-\ $50.00? It sold for $24.++. I can't remember if this was a BIN or had a high start price. But the fact it has taken 3 months to sell could be the reason Slun has reduced the price. Another thank you for Joanna for a very user friendly definition of variants ;D : Re: Error Filmcell card : sketchqueen August 13, 2005, 02:52:42 AM My next goal is to write a book on how to write proper letters of complaint ;) I really do think the era of email has dulled the senses of people when it comes to letter writing ... What's the number one thing people forget to do when writing a letter of complaint? Include either their full name OR their complete address. It's so funny that they'll go on and on for pages about how horrible something is and what they want done to correct it, but forget to tell me who they are or where they want their compensation sent ;) I keep a separate file for them >:D
: Re: Error Filmcell card : LikORish-Spider August 13, 2005, 07:18:26 AM I have a FilmCard with two different scenes in the cels. What is it? Error, varient or......?
: Re: Error Filmcell card : kbmum August 13, 2005, 08:32:10 AM I think that's a variant, since they seem to be fairly rare. Some of them have sold for quite a bit of money.
