: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower May 07, 2005, 06:12:41 PM Hi,
i would be interested, how many Pear Tree Leaves are sold yet and which numbers are known to be anywhere in collections (and who are the owners). So i liked to start this little list. It would be fun to complete the list as far as possible. So i searched in every topic in the forum with the words "Pear Tree" for those informations. And of course in the Price Guide and i remembered some Master Sets sold on ebay. If there is anybody who wouldn't like to appear in this list, please tell me and i'll remove you. ::) 03 forum member sweinar2005 04 ebay member lghaynes 05 forum member hpfamily 07 forum member sketchqueen 09 forum member Anna 11 ebay member girardj 15 ebay member fantale7 17 sold by greenpaw to ? 18 ebay member jonathanmarsbar 19 sold on ebay to ? 20 forum member Angels 21 forum member Tower 22 forum member Harbottle 23 forum member growgirl 25 forum member dis-cix 27 forum member ukpatriotsfan 28 forum member LikORish-Spider 29 ebay member Prohner-Sturm Unnumbered: forum member The Razzer ?? ebay member Ranchan (bought in a Master Set) Feel free to help completing the list as far as possible. :) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Angels May 08, 2005, 01:57:03 AM I have number 20 which I got through a second chance offer when the original buyer did not pay (my ebay id is southalla). I think the Darren Roz is referring to is Darren from Cards Inc but I might be wrong.
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower May 08, 2005, 03:57:31 AM Thanks, Angels. :) The list is updated. And the list of ebay IDs from forum members should also be updated. I searched for southalla there but you aren't in the list. So please FTY. ::)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : LikORish-Spider May 08, 2005, 07:38:54 AM I sent e-mails to the people on ebay who had won but got No answer. They may think I'm looking to rob them, or some other reason. Gee, I didn't ask them where they live. If they have an alarm system, their work schedule, or how big their guard dog was or anything like that..... ;D
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Anna May 08, 2005, 08:33:23 AM I sent e-mails to the people on ebay who had won but got No answer. They may think I'm looking to rob them, or some other reason. Gee, I didn't ask them where they live. If they have an alarm system, their work schedule, or how big their guard dog was or anything like that..... ;D Maybe you should have included a link to this forum post so that they can see what Tower is trying to do. :) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : LikORish-Spider May 08, 2005, 11:45:46 AM I sent e-mails to the people on ebay who had won but got No answer. If they have an alarm system, their work schedule, or how big their guard dog was or anything like that..... ;D Maybe you should have included a link to this forum post so that they can see what Tower is trying to do. :) I did it over a month ago. I was interested right after I won # 28. I can't really fault people for being careful these days. I used the Ebay contact member e-mail so it should have been obvious that there was no way to get information except what they wanted to give. Oh well. : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : ferdinand_the_yak May 08, 2005, 02:00:29 PM Hey Tower... I said I would only post IDs if people wanted them there... I know some people don't :)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower May 08, 2005, 04:31:18 PM Oh yes, of course, i understand. :)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Martyn May 08, 2005, 11:12:39 PM It would be great the know where ever card has gone! ;D
Maybe Artbox still has one?? : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Sharon May 09, 2005, 01:16:18 AM It would be great the know where ever card has gone! ;D Maybe Artbox still has one?? I would think they have quite a few, unless they gave them out to other people in the industry. After all a lot of their cases would not have been sold in 25 case lots ie people who bought 40 would only have got one Pear Tree card, leaving one Pear Tree unallocated. Does that make sense ??? : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower May 14, 2005, 03:52:31 AM We have a very important update now. Congrats Anna! :D
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Anna May 14, 2005, 07:31:47 AM We have a very important update now. Congrats Anna! :D Thanks! ;D Now I can finally delete this card from my "want list". I'm all ready for the SS set now! ;) Woo hoo! ;D : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : EmmasOneandOnly May 14, 2005, 11:59:13 AM Way to go Anna,
Two masters set. Man, thats alot of trading card :o :o Now we just have to get you that SS one ;) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Sharon May 16, 2005, 01:18:35 AM We have a very important update now. Congrats Anna! :D I have only just noticed this. Well done. I bet you are really chuffed to have this finished before the SS set. Now it will be a race between you, Roz and Tower (and a few others I could mention) who gets the 50 case incentive first ;D I really do think the Yak Shack is heading for HP Trading Card World Domination ;D ;D ;D : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower May 16, 2005, 01:40:58 AM I really do think the Yak Shack is heading for HP Trading Card World Domination ;D ;D ;D Well, we are on a good way. ;D ;D ;D : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : gimli May 16, 2005, 02:27:40 AM we will have to start new lists for the 50 and 25 case incentives
and if rumours are right there may be low numbered cards in the packs and as a UK incentive although who knows what is ment by low numbered cards maybe they class 100 as a low number ;) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Morningangel-Iola May 16, 2005, 02:30:38 AM I am glad the davils snare is in the boxes:)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Sharon May 16, 2005, 02:31:02 AM Post moved to SS :)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower May 16, 2005, 02:32:25 AM Well, we should discuss this in the Sorcerer's Stone forum or not? ::) ;)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : gimli May 16, 2005, 02:35:45 AM There have been Uk incentive cards for both of the releases so far so it is very likely there will be one again this time. with POA the incentive cards were in addition to the normal incentives give but it isn't as if we are getting something for nothing really as the price of Uk cases is much higher than the cost of US cases. Due to postage and duty to be paid. but i'mgetting off the point.
Of course everything is rumour and there may be no Uk case incentive card at all who knows ??? we are taking about an Art Box product ;) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : LikORish-Spider May 30, 2005, 03:13:37 AM I started tracking this PTL card number thing as well. I sent the winner of a PTL an e-mail. Here is his verbatim reply:
>>hi john, sorry for the delayed response i have been away and not picked up my emails. the pear tree leaf card i have is unnumbered. I got it from sky high comics. He said it was authentic. I got it checked out and its just been missed off 0he numbering. I have shown a few people and they sayits authentic. So a 1 of a kind. I know two other pear tree leaf cards. MPC have one and Cards inc. i saw this at the nec memorabilia in april. cheers, paul << UNNUMBERED!!!!!!!! Imagine that. I wonder how many of these things are running around loose? : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Roz May 30, 2005, 03:18:15 AM Ooh this was a whole can of worms... stand by we have some threads on this I'll find for you.
Here you go - I doubt the ebay link still works, but the seller is the same that your friend mentions :) http://www.theyakshack.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=479.0 : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower May 30, 2005, 03:19:32 AM Yes, i remember this card. Maybe you find the discussions here anywhere. There hasn't been many who talked about the card in a positive way. I wouldn't like to have an unnumbered card. Although it was so cheap. Not good. ::)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Roz May 30, 2005, 03:23:48 AM John you don't think we'd have missed something like that do you ;)? We keep our eyes open on this forum :P
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : LikORish-Spider May 30, 2005, 07:27:14 AM So, I guess the bottom line is that the card never sold and has not been heard of since.
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Roz May 30, 2005, 02:54:15 PM There was a second auction where it had a start price of like a dollar or a cent of something... I'll try and find another thread for you :P
There: http://www.theyakshack.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=819.0 : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : allender June 20, 2005, 07:30:47 AM I won't name names to protect the innocent (both parties will read this), but I remember when POA first came out, and the very first Buy-It-Now listing (still the "low" in the price guide) underestimated the eventual value. I admit that I spent some time figuring out when this seller posted during the day, and checking for new items for a while in an attempt to see them first, even though I wasn't supposed to be doing that from my computer at work. I didn't see any bargains like that one. But I will remember becoming aware of the value of time zones, and do check for new U.K. listings when people are awake over there but it's still 4 a.m. in the eastern U.S. ;)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : grecopa June 20, 2005, 07:36:44 AM Yep, time zones are important. It's great to be a stay at home mom and find an auction ending at 9:00am est. Not many people on the east coast are checking for stuff at that hour, and most on the west coast are not up yet or getting ready for work. ;)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : dis-cix August 14, 2005, 02:34:46 PM Catch up time
Over a year ago I won Pear Tree Leaf card 25/30 from an eBay auction from ztaylork Yes it was the highest price paid ::) Could be why I haven't achieved the POAU nor SS ultra sets ! : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower August 14, 2005, 07:18:52 PM Thanks, you're in the list now. :)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : LikORish-Spider August 14, 2005, 10:51:24 PM I can't remember who it was, probably Roz, but someone said tha Artbox is out of backup Pear Tree Leaves.
I wonder how many went to bigwigs? : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Nienna August 14, 2005, 10:56:44 PM I only hope none were put into the grab bags at the SDCC!! :o :o :-\
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower January 08, 2007, 10:59:17 PM Hurray, we have a new auction, something we didn't have in the whole 2006 (last real auction was in August 2005) and i thought, we won't see any more of these on :ebay: ...
But 18/30 is available now. :o I will watch this one, very interesting to see, what happens ... 8) http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-1738318-5463217?loc=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D300068191502 And i like how the Permission Form looks ... ;) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Bitsy January 09, 2007, 01:16:39 AM WOW. This will be fun to watch.
Love the permission form! :) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : ECL January 09, 2007, 02:10:52 AM I agree, all of these first release POA release cards are nice. I love the Honeydukes bag variant!
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : beatles99 January 09, 2007, 04:54:27 AM Maybe my name could be added to the list besides #18.....I have waited nearly 2 years, to finally see one of these come up for auction...although again due to the new COS set the timing isn't of the greatest for me or I suppose other would be buyers
$1500 is one hell of a starting bid.....why not 99 cents and get some interest in the card ????? : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Bogleg January 09, 2007, 07:59:23 PM Once again, the dreaded "US Only" shipping rears it's ugly head >:( Is there anyone in the US who would be prepared to bid for me? Not for the Pear Tree card, but for others from this seller. Please pm me if you have the funds and the trust :o=
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : kbmum January 09, 2007, 08:18:28 PM I'd love to know who is selling off a POA master set. It would break my heart to sell the cards I have from that set.
The pear tree leaves card that's currently for sale originally sold for $1775 on May 31, 2004. : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower January 09, 2007, 08:33:47 PM Once again, the dreaded "US Only" shipping rears it's ugly head >:( Is there anyone in the US who would be prepared to bid for me? Not for the Pear Tree card, but for others from this seller. Please pm me if you have the funds and the trust :o= Not necessary, they will ship worldwide, i asked for that, but only for the PTL (just being curious, i won't bid). : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Nienna January 10, 2007, 05:58:35 AM Interesting Thomas - their auction made it sound like they categorically would NOT ship worldwide! :-\
A word of caution to anyone who plans on bidding on any of those cards - run a check on the negatives the seller has received AND given before you bid, as they aren't afraid of leaving negs! ;) I've been using http://www.goofbay.com/ebay_tools.html ;) Nice one Mo, good to see you've started the ball rolling!! :o   : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : beatles99 January 10, 2007, 06:22:06 AM Worldwide ?????? They said I could bid if I had a U.S. address that I could send it to... I told them that I lived in Canada.....they said payment through Paypal only because of that... and wouldn't be able to use their checkout system, If I won, I would have to contact the manager of the store that is selling the card (which I've already exchange greetings with) to arrange payment/shipping costs and the U.S. addy that I would have it sent to if I have the winning bid.....which I would rather do anyhow...could you imagine the duty taxes at the border on this one
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower January 15, 2007, 11:19:36 PM Congrats for winning, now you are in the list. :)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : beatles99 January 16, 2007, 12:46:19 AM Great finally made the list !!!!!!
There was some slight confusion on my part as there was only 1 other bid with about 20 seconds to go.. they did bid $1755.00 which is fine but when i checked to see who did I beat out, it said that the bidder had no auction wins under their belt at all...and that they have been a member of only 5 days and as you know most newbies really want to bid $1700 on anything they can ??????? So I automatically thought oh great Shill Bidding, and even reported it to Ebay Ebay is getting to be quite famous for people bumping up the bids and having no intention of paying for any of them I see that the seller has now got 1 win under their belt from last night, and also a feedback already So after some emails to the states, this problem should be resolved.........Maureen (Now a Serious Collector) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Nienna January 16, 2007, 01:57:58 AM WOW!! WTG Mo!! ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D
That's a MAJOR hole you've just made in your finances, but I bet you'd be kicking yourself now if you hadn't given it a good try! ;D Just out of curiosity (cos ebay have made it so you can't see the other bidders on high-end items), but who was this newbie-with-deep-pocketsessssss? I have my suspicions .... ;) ^-^ hee hee I'd say you'd been a 'Serious Collector' for some time now .... :P : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : beatles99 January 16, 2007, 02:33:58 AM someone named saturnine!!!...got it through the grape vine..wasn't told exactly just worked out the info that Ebay does supply then just did a deduction of clients and ended up with them
it's easy to find someone who loves Potter cards and has only 1 feedback : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Roz January 16, 2007, 02:40:21 AM We have our own Saturnine:
http://www.theyakshack.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=820 So I don't think it was a shill. Don't feel cheated, I think that was a fair price. : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Nienna January 16, 2007, 02:42:37 AM Ooooooo!! I thought it might be another ebay newbie with seriously deep pocketsess ..... ;)
Edit: ahhh I know who it is now - I did wonder why they'd sold off some of their Potter cards pretty cheaply over the weekend! ;) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : beatles99 January 16, 2007, 02:47:46 AM The Yakers name is Tsung...boy he has bought from me before but not under that name........... name is really familiar
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Nienna January 16, 2007, 03:03:31 AM khurdt by any chance? :)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Roz January 16, 2007, 03:05:30 AM Yup :)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower January 16, 2007, 03:07:27 AM Girls, Girls, Girls ... ;D
I know he's a bit sad that he didn't win this card, i had email contact, he's a nice guy. But that's the game, the highest bid wins ... : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Nienna January 16, 2007, 03:19:02 AM What!?
I'm sure he's a super chap and very disappointed not to win, but like you say .... that's how the mop flops!! :P ;D : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower January 16, 2007, 03:23:36 AM "So läuft nunmal der Hase" would we say here. I think we should start a German section in the forum ... ;D
Means "That's how the bunny runs". ;) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Roz January 16, 2007, 04:32:46 AM Argh! Yes it is understandable to be frustrated and annoyed, but to be fair Mo has been waiting a long time for this moment ;D
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower January 16, 2007, 05:29:56 AM That's true. But who said "frustrated" or "annoyed" or something like that? Oh no. He's only a bit sad. I guess, Mo would have been more frustrated after 2 years of waiting. But we shouldn't talk about other people too much. All i wanted to conform is that there was no shill bid. :)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : HPfamily January 16, 2007, 05:33:44 AM Mop flops....bunny runs...yes, that is the way the game goes!
I lost on a variant I really wanted last night also!! :'( Boo hoo!! :'( Congrats to you Mo!!! :) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : beatles99 January 16, 2007, 11:10:05 PM I would have slightly annoyed if I hadn't of won ..knowing it might be another 2 years before the next one to come up on auction, although in this crazy game another one could come up 2 hrs from now...........I'm familiar with the names of most of the "variant" collectors ,as we all have stepped on each others toes from time to time getting the special swatch for your collection..........BUT............
Has everyone noticed that this variant collecting has even been more competitive lately...some people I've never heard of before winning some really expensive cards.....Mo : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : kbmum January 16, 2007, 11:43:07 PM I think there are many more HP collectors now than there were a year ago. I can't recall having so much competition, even for the more common cards.
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : grecopa January 18, 2007, 05:29:58 AM I just saw this thread. CONGRATULATIONS on the pear tree leaf, Mo! :o You are now in an elite society. "The lords of the leaf"
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : beatles99 January 18, 2007, 05:36:59 AM Must be an easier and cheaper way to make it to the elite status...than the bloody way I got on..more like the insane leaf owners or the world club ?????
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : grecopa January 18, 2007, 06:40:47 AM If there's a cheaper way, I sure haven't found it!
more like the insane leaf owners or the world club ????? Probably most "ordinary" people would say so! Only card collectors can possibly understand other card collectors. We're all here for you! ;) I say- "WAY TO GO, GIRL"!!!!: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Bitsy January 18, 2007, 07:07:49 AM WOW :o Congratulations Mo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D What an awesome card! So happy for you!!!!!!!! And you are NOT insane!
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Saturnine January 20, 2007, 04:29:50 PM hey everyone, Just noticed lots have been said about in my absence, lol.
Just started a new account purely for buying so i did have several items bought already without the sellers leaving feedback. I would have bid higher but i was slightly deceived by the fact that beatles only put one bid down. Congrats anyway. I was already in serious trouble after buying a COS master set so this would really have put me in trouble! Tsung : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : beatles99 January 21, 2007, 04:24:59 AM Offer still stands to you alone to buy off me............Mo
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : The Razzer January 28, 2007, 07:08:37 AM hi people,
i was reading through the pear tree leaves subject and came across the unnumbered PTL discussion and looked through the links to see what you all thought of it. I can confirm the card did get sold on ebay for $620 and believe it or not it did arrive in the post and i have in my POA binder with the rest of the set. i remember getting an email asking about the numbers for your list and i have seen my reply posted. i took the card to one of the memorabilia shows at the NEC in Birmingham and showed it to Darren from cards inc and also Richard from card vault. i also emailed artbox and they seemed very interested in where i got the card from. i asked them if i could send it to them for numbering  didn't think so either, and haven't heard back since. The card is spot on and exactly the same as all the other prop cards. it is just missing the number in the bottom corner. it does have the space where the number should be as you can see the matt finish as opposed to the glossy finish. i don't believe it to be a copy but it just appears it didn't get numbered. i did read that someone said it was packed pulled?? possibly stuck with another card so it would have missed the numbering process. you could probably go on all day about possibles though. i think i might email artbox again - what does anyone think? also, could i call my set a true master set with this card?? : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : beatles99 January 28, 2007, 07:36:37 AM Well I have read all kinds of speculation where the card came from.....I would lean more towards the card was made as a test or proof, some people even tried to say it was a fake...the theory that the card was "missed in the stamping seems highly unlikely being there was only 30 to be stamped
Do you have a Master set ???? In my books you do......it goes with the territory...as in could you resell the card although it being an unnumbered card ???? You betcha !!!!!!!!!! : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Roz January 28, 2007, 04:42:10 PM also, could i call my set a true master set with this card?? I think if it's genuine (a test/proof/whatever) you can 100% call it a master set. And a very interesting one at that. If you know it to be the same as all the others, and if Richard Card_Vault and Darren could see no flaws then it must be fine. : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Nienna January 28, 2007, 11:10:15 PM Paul - you took one he!! of a risk with that PTL card, you really did, so it's good to know it checks out favourably with the other prop cards you have and the fact that both Richard and Darren thought it genuine too is very encouraging (cos we all know how particular they are with their cards! LOL). ::) :P
I remember the original fuss and to-do over your card and I think many of us were very tempted to bid on it but were put off from doing so because of the doubt surrounding the card's legitimacy and authenticity, so thank you very much for coming forward and telling us about it first hand. ;) I would definitely say you had a Master Set and a very unique one too ... as for Artbox, well you asked them about it before and they weren't too bothered about it, but it begs the question - if they'd said 'yes, please return it for numbering' what would you have done? Returned it? And what number would be put on the card - would they decide that or would you request a number out of 30? The list Thomas has collated shows that we know where a good proportion of cards are and there aren't many numbers left to choose from (if any!) - my bet is Artbox have decided not to pursue it any further with regard to numbering your card Paul and I seriously doubt we'll ever find out exactly how that card came to be in the public domain. :) Thomas - guess you need to add Paul's name to the bottom of your list .... if that's agreeable to you of course Paul? ;) Congratulations Paul and welcome to the Yak Shack at long last!! ;D : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : The Razzer January 29, 2007, 12:54:45 AM getting added to the list would be cool 8).
if i had sent the card to artbox i would of been a bit cautious, as at the time i was wondering if they would have kept it and not sent it back. i still have the replies from artbox and this is what was said: as with emails you will have to read it from the bottom up. Hi Paul, Thanks for your reply. It will help us investigate this situation. ----- Original Message ----- To: Artbox Customer Service Sent: Thursday, December 23, 2004 3:53 AM Subject: pear tree leaves prop card good day, i purchased this card from Sky High Comics through ebay on 22 october. thier email is skyhigh@skyhighcomics.com. they have a store in Temecula (951) 699-1125 and San Marcos (760) 471-0448. they said they spoke with reps from artbox at the san-diego comic con who said the card was not fake, but authentic as there is a space for the numbering on the back where other cards have thiers. the guy from sky high said your reps spoke with the manufacturer who said the card should have been desrtoyed, but wasn't. apparently this is the only non-destroyed card like this. so is this card #31?? hope this helps. could you please get back to me with what you think of this from sky high comics. best regards, paul haswell Message date : Dec 22 2004, 05:32 PM > From : "Artbox Customer Service" > Copy to : > Subject : Re: pear tree leaves prop card > Hello Paul, Thank you for your inquiry. Can you tell me where you purchased this card ? ----- Original Message ---- To: customerservice@artboxent.com Cc: sales@artboxent.com Sent: Wednesday, December 22, 2004 8:10 AM Subject: Fw: pear tree leaves prop card > > good day, > > i was hoping you could help me out. > > i have a pear tree leaves prop card from the harry potter prisoner of azkaban set thet you released in May this year. i am aware that this card was a 25 case incentive card and is limited to 30. > > the card that i have is unnumbered??!! > > are you aware of this card?? would it be possible that i could send it to you for numbering?? > > best regards, > > paul haswell so there last reply was on dec 29th 2004. it doesn't seeem that long ago!!! :o as you can read they said cos it was not numbered is not authentic :'( but i suppose they would have to say that as it was not numbered. it would be really good if anyone knows anyone at artbox or has contacts to maybe pry some more info. i know this has been talked about before as i saw the posts, but have only recently come across the shack. although not HP cards. that was my first set that got me collecting (POA) then have got all the others since. except COS, have only got 2 and 5 case incentives at the moment. need to recover from MM!! and reading what everything thinks of coallation and insert ratios i think i will not be buying cases but just cards of :ebay: when i get home i will post some pics of the PTL card. :D so there is possible 31 PTL cards around. :o : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower January 29, 2007, 01:14:29 AM You're in the list now. :) And i think, your card is authentic. So i would call your set a Master Set. There must have been any kind of mistake with your card. Maybe it's one of the 30, maybe it's number 31, who knows?
so there is possible 31 PTL cards around. :o This reminds me at the MM Trophy Plates, there are 31 around too. And my card is unnumbered. :o ::)   : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : The Razzer January 29, 2007, 01:24:41 AM This reminds me at the MM Trophy Plates, there are 31 around too. And my card is unnumbered. when i was typing '31 PTL' i also thought of the trophy cards and exactly what you said. i've not got one of those though. did look at the auctions but toooo much! : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Nienna January 29, 2007, 01:32:18 AM It's a shame you didn't find us here sooner!!
Thanks for posting the emails you received/sent to Artbox, they're very interesting .... What intrigues me, is the immediate response from Artbox to your query stating that the unnumbered card isn't authentic because of the lack of number and as soon as you tell them exactly who and where you purchased the card from, they clam up! :( My own personal opinion is that Artbox knew this already but wanted confirmation from a 3rd party and I also believe the card to be genuine and I think what could have happened was that it was included in with the other cards either deliberately or by mistake when the inserts were collated into the packs. The fact that you put the onus squarely back into the Artbox court and their lack of response speaks volumes to me! ;) I know I wouldn't return the card to Artbox if it were mine as there's every chance it wouldn't be returned to you ... better to be cautious when you get such an unhelpful and curt reply to your email I think ... and I'd definitely hang on to all the correspondence you have regarding this card in case it's legitimacy is called into question at some point in the future. As for contacting them again ... well, that's entirely up to you. I can understand why you would - to get peace of mind that it's a 'proper' card, but then again, the fact that nobody has thought to give you any kind of reply after 2+ years is awful customer service, wouldn't you agree? :( It was definitely their responsibility to send you a reply ... I dunno Paul ... I can just see an enormous can of worms being opened over this that's all. :-[ It would be nice if they owned up and admitted they'd made an error over the numbering of this card and that in fact, there are 31 of them instead of 30. ;) Welcome to the PTL Owners Club!! ;D : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : The Razzer January 30, 2007, 07:05:35 AM okay,
i have sent another email, after 2 years of waiting, to artbox to see if they can shed more light on the subject. lets hope i don't have to wait another 2 years :o= and they can get back to me in reasonalbe time. waiting................... : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : The Razzer June 26, 2007, 11:38:28 PM Now i have got the photobucket going, i can post pics of my unnumbered PTL.
So here it is front and back. Everything is spot on, just no number in the space where it should be. hopefully you can see the matte finish on the number space against the gloss of the rest of the card. But i can afford the other i am hoping to win there are few i been looking :) I dnt know why this card is so most wanted, let me tell you WHY course its a low numbered i would get a harry wand set of this card its just a pointless card to spend too much on, plus its ugly card aswell lol also its only a card man whats with ppl these days want to spending alot on this card i will never know! ppl might not agree with me what i said about this card but its only my opinion Thank You : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower July 06, 2008, 10:10:46 PM The card reached the (almost) $1000 mark very early. :o
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : raz2006 July 06, 2008, 10:17:14 PM Yeah i know, less then 3hrs been in auction
ppl are mad spending so much on this one card there is much better card out there to get Seriouse can ppl tell me why this is the most wanted and want to spend alot on this card alone i really want to know the reason can anyone please tell me! I would be greatfull someone tell me P.S just wanna know why the seller put the cards in private bidding something fishly going on why he dont wanna let other ppl know whos bidding how we know hes not bidding him self or getting hes friends to bid for him or even o feedback bid i never like private bidding...i am thinking not to bid on the items i want course i dnt wanna be mess around and get punked an paid over the odds thank you : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Nienna July 06, 2008, 10:48:23 PM I honestly don't think there is any sinister reason behind this seller making their auctions private - it means that none of the bidders can be approached by rival bidders and be warned-off bidding for this card or any of the others.
Oh I know that Ebay have made all auctions more private in that you only see part of a bidder's user ID, but those of us who've been using Ebay for long enough and have been collecting these sets from early on, will still recognise a good proportion of the ID's even in this 'disguised' format. ::) It is this seller's perogative to make the listings completely private and given how much each of the rarer cards is worth I don't blame them. IMHO if anyone has any reservations or is unhappy about the private auctions then they shouldn't bid on the cards - that wouldn't be fair to the people who really want the cards. I understand the concerns over potential shill bidding on this auction plus the other cards up for sale - I think if you really want any of them badly enough then that's the risk you'll have to be prepared to take. I would take a long hard look at those cards too, because you won't see variants as nice as this on Ebay very often. I've been lucky enough to have dealt with this seller on many occasions in the past and they're absolutely rock solid ... the cards you see will be the ones you receive, sent properly packaged via insured postage and I've always had excellent contact with them too. ;) And no ... I'm defintely not the seller in case anyone is wondering and I'm not on commission either!! :P : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : sue July 06, 2008, 11:03:22 PM (http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x74/the_razzer/Prisoner%20of%20Azkaban/Props.jpg) how do these take your fancy??? [/quote] WOW :o LOVE THEM RAZZER, LUCKY YOU ;) You must keep them, i know i may sound dim :-[ as youre all experts and i`m new to this but i`ve been researching trading cards and some rare baseball ones sold for millions each in america :o . harry potter is up there with star wars and james bond and i`ve no doubt these cards will reach silly money in the future. If you ever need a secretary razzer to keep your cards in safe keeping and do your invoices for you i wont say no ::) 0:) ::) 0:) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : raz2006 July 06, 2008, 11:59:50 PM Nienna i know the cards are really i seen two of hes cards was bought 2 weeks ago from a seller over australia, the thing i am worry about is maybe he is trying to put the bid high him or something coz its on private also the PTL its been less then 3hr already its on $1,000 how do we know he hasnt put bid in hes self the card wouldnt get that much bid in less then 3hr when it been in auction if it was like 2-3days left i would beileve it
thats the only thing i am worry i will think about it... i just want only 4 cards there... daily prophe permisson form spinder lik o'rish spider honeyduhes candy mate whats your advise would you bid on a private auction? honestly Raz : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower July 07, 2008, 01:14:30 AM For me it's no difference. Private auctions have the sense to give the winning bidder the chance to stay anonymous. Maybe not bad if you buy expensive stuff. So i made my wand card auctions private too, the rest not. But i did it with a high starting bid (and not sold last time), so definately with no sinister reasons.
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : allender July 07, 2008, 04:36:50 PM The card reached the (almost) $1000 mark very early. :o I was the first bidder, so I can now claim to have had a copy of my own except for those pesky "last minute bids." 8) (My claim to fame lasted almost 39 minutes.): Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : sue July 07, 2008, 08:58:08 PM I was the first bidder, so I can now claim to have had a copy of my own except for those pesky "last minute bids." 8) (My claim to fame lasted almost 39 minutes.) aahhhh, its still more than most people can say ;), cheer up me duck :) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower July 08, 2008, 01:06:34 AM Now we reached the $2000 mark. :o ::) I should think about selling mine. ;)
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Nienna July 08, 2008, 05:19:36 AM I have to agree with Tower on this one. Not all bidders want everyone to see which high priced cards they've bought - we've already seen Sue's posting about the fake Hermione auto, imagine the distress if you were approached and offered a Pear Tree card which then turned out to be a fake!! :o :( I think the best way to go in situations like this where you are a little uneasy over bidding on a private auction, is to check the seller's feedback - both received and given - that more than anything else will give a good indication of how they conduct their Ebay transactions and hopefully reassure you that nothing untoward will happen. ;) Now we reached the $2000 mark. :o ::) I should think about selling mine. ;) I never thought I'd see the day you posting that remark Tower!! :o :o :o :P;) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : raz2006 July 08, 2008, 05:38:33 AM WOW it has been reach at $2,000 and it only been a day gone

Anyone want to guess how much it will sale $$$$ ???? ............ : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : LikORish-Spider July 08, 2008, 06:48:50 AM As some of you may know I am sort of a Harry Potter card fan. As such I got a scan of PTL 27-30 long ago when it was offered on :ebay:
Here is what it looked like back then: (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y102/LikORish-Spider/PearTreeLevesback27-30.jpg) Here is the current ebay image. : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : The Razzer July 08, 2008, 09:37:45 AM well thats £300 profit made on it already. ;D thats probably been wiped down to just £50 profit after listing fees, final value fee and paypal fees if paid that way >:() >:() :'(
ebay are robbing ******* and so are paypal. : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : LikORish-Spider July 08, 2008, 10:50:01 PM The swatch is a slightly different colour, but that could just be scanner differences...is that what you are noticing? Yes, the colour could be due to the scanners. I was really interested in the striations running horizontally from top to bottom, as well as the apparent surface texture. Just provided the scans for sake of discussion. No implications intended. : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : sfmuggle July 09, 2008, 02:35:38 AM WOW it has been reach at $2,000 and it only been a day gone This card is the most overrated and overpriced card i have seen from a HP $2,000 already another 5days to go thats just crazy ppl I would want to know how much it go for in the end!!!!! Nice card though but not my personal favorite. : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : sfmuggle July 09, 2008, 02:36:22 AM that's funny Raz ;D
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Roz July 09, 2008, 02:56:41 AM Hmm, the current auction has a spectacularly poor scan so it's hard to know whether to read too much into it... totally depends who's bidding but I reckon this could possibly go higher than a PTL has ever been before (£1400 - check the price guide for the US$ translation, £1400 is approx $2800 now, but back then I am not sure what the state of the US$ was).
All very interesting :D : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : stoney July 09, 2008, 03:03:01 AM Wow!!. I just can't believe that the price has gone to this much even at this early stage of the auction! :o
It's the midweek lottery tomorrow here in the UK. Fingers crossed! ;D If that doesn't work perhaps we can all chip in a certain amount of money each to buy the card and then have the card a certain amount of time each throughout the year! ;D It will be very interesting indeed to see what the card goes for in the end. Although it is a nice card i just don't think i could bring myself to spend that much money on one card. It's just insane!!. Just think of all the different HP costume, prop and auto cards that you could buy with all the money that this one card will go for in the end. : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : sfmuggle July 09, 2008, 03:50:07 AM yeah, I agree Roz. I don't think one has been up for auction in a while and it will very depend upon who's bidding (and how bad people want it). But I'm w/ Stoney in that I personally wouldn't spend that much on a card.
: Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : raz2006 July 09, 2008, 05:57:15 PM yeah i agree with Stoney i couldnt spend that much on one card. there are alot better cards out there you can buy from HP, you must be mad and crazy to paid for this card even the card its not that nice too me its a ugly one lol
I am watching the auction to see how much it will go at the end so i can laugh to the person who bought it lol lol lol Thank You : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : sue July 09, 2008, 06:15:40 PM there are alot better cards out there you can buy from HP, you must be mad and crazy to paid for this card even the card its not that nice too me its a ugly one lol As a relatively new buyer of cards and a MASSIVE Harry potter Fan i`m afraid i have to disagree!! Raz youre not a fan, youre a dealer so of course you wouldnt pay that much for a card, but i bet you`d sell one for that much ;D .I am watching the auction to see how much it will go at the end so i can laugh to the person who bought it lol lol lol Thank You No offence meant but us newbies are dying for that card and would, :o YES pay that much money. :o Raz i hope if its me whos wins i wont be the one who youre laughing at as i do find that remark a little brutal. Whilst its nice we can all give opinions, maybe sometimes it pays dividends to keep opinions to yourself at the risk of offending others, especially if youre not even a FAN!! Hope people take my point of view without offense and as its intended, Just my point of view ;) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : raz2006 July 09, 2008, 07:24:05 PM Hi Sue
Again sorry everybody i didnt mean what i said No Sue i wont be laughting at you if you win but what i said its just my opinion some would agree and some wont Yes i am a big FAN of harry potter i Like it, if i didnt i wouldnt been spending near £4,000+ already on the cards i have so far this card its just way too much to paid for it, also the PTL wasnt use in the movie on top of that, i wouldnt spend this amount for THIS card. i would paid the same amount on the wands from GOFU there much nice and better and also the wands been use in the movie i do paid for what i like and it dont means course i am a dealer i wouldnt paid, few months ago i paid £950 on heroes comic con auto (Hayden & Milo) and i trying to find the other 3 to make the set. if it was about the money and profit i would have got the series 1 of heroes hadyen not more then £150+ and milo for £60+ or less but i bought the comic con course it rare and much better course its been signed on the card but the series 1 of heroes was signed on the stirp foil these comic con are rarer as its been sign only 20 You see Sue that its not about me being a dealer and not spending or being not a FAn p.s i hope you do win it as your a newbie Sue do you know whats your limited on the card how much you going to put in? if you dont mind me asking Raz : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : sue July 09, 2008, 07:37:17 PM Hi Raz,
Thanks for explaining, Totally no offense taken and the same no offense meant to you at all. ;D It`s just as a fan and a passionate card collector it did come across a little harsh what you said :P , sometimes people invest alot into a hobby for many reasons and just as i cant understand why you`d spend 950 on a heros auto card i`m sure you wonder why i would on a harry potter card. My point to you mainly was if people want to spend thousands and if they get pleasure from their hobby then thats up to them and not for others to mock. Again just my opinion ;D Sorry cant give my top bid away, that`d be letting everyone know how much they out bid me on, no very wise dont cha fink :o . Just a little confused wonder if you can enlighten me Raz on a couple of things if you would ;), i thought you`ve only got 7 cards?? You`ve paid 4,000 on only those, thats alot. i`m getting conflicting ideas on how many cards you have?? please enlighten me?? THANKS!! ;) (sos to sound dim) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : raz2006 July 09, 2008, 09:01:31 PM thats no problem Sue
Same here sorry what i said bit of out of order my mistake i have about 20 harry potter cards hoping to get another 10 more I am about to bid on the two cards from the same seller who has PTL card also i am going to get another 8 from other person cant name him as ppl will go after What cards have you got? if you bought any yet Raz : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : sue July 09, 2008, 09:21:17 PM Oh I see, but i bet your 20 cards are the good ones :o
i`ve got about 51 now and still bidding. Theyre not really rare at all but i like them and i think i`m going to try bidding on the poa ones as i probably wont get another chance to get rare ones like that, especially with starting so late. My favourite cards are the order of the phoenix ones, maybe because i started collecting when they came out, i`m not as keen on the others as much. I do plan on getting a master set so i can display it but thats just a pipe dream right now. ;D it may never happen! ;D (((P.S: I did get your list passed on to me by the way ;), thanks but i dont think i will be able to get any as i havent seen any yet :-[ but you never know :D)))) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : Tower July 09, 2008, 10:25:43 PM Hi sue,
i wish you all the best, good luck for winning this card. Maybe the only chance to add the new owner into my list, otherwise i wouldn't know who wins. :'( But if you like to buy the rarest and one of the most interesting cards of all, you should think about bidding on my Harry Wand (see Diagon Alley). No worries i`ll keep a look out for you ;) Don`t you like the ootp set, i love the umbridge costume and cho chang one too theyre my favourite cards but then again i like the colour pink :-[ gof set seems too dark for me all those burnt tents, tut, tut, ::) sue ;D : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : raz2006 July 10, 2008, 12:42:14 AM Hi Sue
Thanks just let me know if you see one Nop i dont like set at all, GOF and the update is one of my fav set in HP!!! its has all the cool cards in that set and most of them are rare but OOTP i was very disapointed in the set didnt like anything in the set I am hoping the next movie set comes out in NOvember it will be better then OOTP i was very let down by the set anyway Are you going to make a master set? if YES in which set are you going to Raz : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : sue July 10, 2008, 02:23:15 AM ah well each to their own i suppose :P
Sure i`ll keep a look out for you no problem at all. I think if i ever get a master set it would be order of the phoenix 1st set or update, i think. Two reasons, i like them the best(Always a good reason, ;D) and as they were only released recently i`ve got more chance of picking up the rare ones easier than i have of getting poa or gof, i do like chamber of secrets cards too, theyre my second favourite, ;) : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : raz2006 July 10, 2008, 04:23:14 AM yeah OOTP and update will be easy its been out recently, and its very easy to make a master set when i spook to few ppl they did say these two set are easier then the others set
You sure get COS if you can find them they are great cards, i am going to get them aswell its past of my 10 cards i wanna buy my favourite set are SS, COS, POA, POAU, GOF, GOFU those i love and i am very happy to got a chance to get them especially they are old and hard to find so i have done a great job to find them Good luck on your collecton Sue and you can show me your HP soon when you done getting them all Raz : Re: Pear Tree Leaves - List of numbers and owners : sue July 10, 2008, 03:55:54 PM Good luck with your collecting too, ;D , yeah we`ll have to swop pictures one day. ;)
