I'm a day late I think, but was wondering if all you Brits out there went to the polls?

Nope right day :) I did vote. I feel bad if I don't after all the hassle people took to get the vote.

well i'm not english but i just wanted to say that am i the only one who thinks that howard looks like the evil bond guy from tomorrow never dies played by Jonathan Pryce?

Just got back from voting. Bit of a tradition with me, go and vote and then go to the pub. There were so many people voting that I had to queue up for a few minutes just to get inside the village hall. All good fun and us Brits are expert at queuing. 0:)

Ugh, not another term. And he's going to get all big headed as it's apparently a 'historic' third term for a Labour government.

Although to be fair there wasn't much going in the other camps either. I would have voted Monster Raving Loony given half a chance!

You guys are fortunate - you have the option to vote. Here in Aus, voting is mandatory and you get fined if you don't vote. :P

I'd better not say much more as I'd like to keep the Forum clean. ;)

I still think the 'Demon Eyes' publicity the Tories did for Blair on the last election was spot on ... Blair and his cronies complained about it so everyone took notice of it ... if they'd kept their gobs shut about it then it would've sunk without trace.

It's a pity they don't make it mandatory to vote here ... just think of the Suffragettes who died so women could vote here!

Perhaps we could distribute Yak hats and replace the Monster Raving Loony party with our own Yak version?

It sounds bad that we are complaining about it doesn't it? :-\ But the point is, there are alot of people who don't care who wins here and they usually would follow the status quo and go for the current party in power which for us is the diminutive Johnny Howard. Probably if voting was compulsory, we'd have people voting who actually care and get results that actually mean something!

Or no-one would vote at all because:
1. They don't give a two hoots or
2. We'd all be at the beach instead (we are in Australia after all 8) )

I voted in some College elections the other day. 1) I had no idea who the people were who were standing, so I asked the guy taking the votes in (who I had taught in a water quality practical) who they all were, and went with the ones he suggested!

THAT is what you get when you have compulsory voting... people who don't always care and understand the situation!

(P.S. I knew exactly who I was voting for in the general elections thanks very much :P - I was voting for the people who treat education as a right and not a privilidge!)

I always used to LOVE seeing Screaming Lord Sutch at election time, but after he died it folded. :(
Oh ... and what about Robert *perma-tan* Kilroy-Silk then ... the 'Veritas' party!? *snorts* ... anyone can have all these great ideas and so on if you also know you stand a snowball's chance of getting in to actually have to implement any of them.
I'm unfortunate enough to have the Derby HQ quite near to where I live but it's refreshing to know that when he actually visited here, the good citizens of Derby heckled him mercilessly! :rofl:
My sister walked past the Tory HQ here too and hissed at it ... it was quite amusing.

Well I like our MP so I voted for him not his boss >:D. He actually came to see us before hand. He was at the end of our road ready for any questions you had to throw at him. Now thats the first time I have heard of that. Also he's against the road the council are planning through our park  >:(

Tony Bleurgh was on the news this evening saying how they must learn from the message the British public have given them (to all the non Brits out there, the Labour majority was slashed quite significantly) - and then he goes and re-appoints David "Junkett", master fraudster and purveyor of fast tracked immigration documents.

Sorry Tone, what did you say?  You must learn?

Says one thing, does completely the opposite.

Another 4 years people, another 4 years .................  :P
