I for one was looking forward to seeing the riders of rohan put under a spell by the voice of saruman, and gandalf tell Saruman that he'd missed his calling in life and should have been a court jester!, plus grima wormtongue throwing the palantir at gandalf and the others..... So I am not sure how it should have been.
I was glad they explained an ending for Saruman (albeit a wrong one). I was pretty happy with the extended edition cut. More book dialogue is always good though I guess.
That being said, Chris Lee rules in this scene. With his deep, commanding voice he is Saruman so perfectly, especially in scenes like this. It lived up to my expectations, although the fireball thing i could have done without. I can understand why it was cut but it was good to have it back in. :D |
