What a horrible feeling it is leaving someone negative.

I mulled it over and mulled it over -  I bought an item (only a promo card but STILL it's the principle) in early January and I've not had anything (despite paying over the odds for postage on the assumption that he would insure it) - so I decided just to leave negative - the guy has had 2 months (since I first started pointing it out that it didn't arrive) to sort this out with me.

Have many of you ever left a negative - it doesn't feel good does it? Everything still remains unsolved and you have still lost $20 :(

I know you feel bad about it, but what other recourse did you have?  It's too late to file a complaint with PayPal.

I left a neg after repeated attempts at contact with a seller failed - I kept getting 'message failure'. Too late for Paypal... but I filed with Square Trade and luckily we managed to resolve it!

I did not want to leave the neg, but it was the only thing I could do and it was bound to catch their attention!

I always felt that something was a bit dodgy though - when I emailed him 3 weeks after I paid to say it hadn't arrived he reliably informed me that airmail takes 1 month to get from the States to the UK.

That's interesting since my last bit of post (just standard airmail letter) arrived within 3 days!!!

I had to do that, filed with paypal.
People just need to send what they sell
In fact I am about ready to go leave another neg for not getting something ^!^

One week is the standard for US to Australia (I shouldn't think you would tale longer than us!).

I left my first neg feedback the other night. Some guy bought 2 items from me a month ago and didnt pay. I gave him chance after chance and even a month to pay but he didnt.
In the end I got sick and left him a neg. I hate leaving neg feedback  :-[

As a buyer I always read feedbacks before bidding so I am grateful for people who tell the truth about a seller ie took a long time or never arrived.  Good and bad are important otherwise the whole system is pointless.  Hope this makes you feel better.  :)

I've only had to leave a few negatives for non paying buyers.  I always leave a pretty standard thing: "2 weeks, no contact, no pay." I refuse to buy from sellers that leave scathing name calling feedback.  I mean, what's the point in that?  Sorry to hear about your card, Roz.  They deserve neg.  Don't feel bad.

Predictably they have left me a negative in response!

Harsh, so now I lose out on $14 (it's not the cost it's the principle!!) and also get a negative... how can that be fair?

Can ebay do anything about that? I mean if its obviously a retaliatory FB, it doesn't justify it being there! :'(

I'm not sure, but if the buyer and seller agree to delete the feedback they have given, there will be no sign of the deal... Ah, can't remember where it is, I'll find it if you wan't me to...

I don't think that feedback can be deleted - the rating can be removed (i.e. the neg won't show up in your FB rating), but the feedback stays

What will show on your feedback page is something like: "Buyer and seller have mutually agreed to withdraw feedback for this item."  What a low life seller, takes your money then gives you a negative.  You can also respond to the feedback to state it was retaliation.  It will show up under the negative the seller left.

It will show up in the stats, that there has been one deal where both mutually agreed not to leave feedback... I'll try and find one... it may take some time...

Well, that was fast, right below you'r "feedback from buyers - sellers - left for others - it says how many have been mutually withdrawn...

That's right, Maegna.  Plus, the "mutually withdrawn...." should show up instead of the negative words the seller wrote too.  Never had one, but pretty sure i've seen one.

Negative feedback is not nice but sometimes necessary. I have only ever done it a couple of times but I always come off worse. I left a buyer negative feedback once as they refused to send payment and then they left negative feedback for me. I was left with no payment, eBay fees to pay and negative feedback  :'(. It happened years ago but it still annoys me - eBay should provide counselling.

If you'r winner does not wish to pay for the item, you can get you'r fees cancelled by eBay ---

I know this topic is old, but I really do not think sellers should leave negative feedback for a buyer unless there is a good reason, like non-payment.  If the buyer paus immediately, and then gets damaged item, no item, etc... and conitnuoulsy tries to contact the seller with no success, so then leaves the seller a negative, the seller should have no right to leave a negative back on the buyer.  I just don't think that is fair.

Agreed.  I hate seeing auctions with "we leave buyers feedback after feedback is posted for us" in the fine print.  I think that most of the time a seller should leave feedback after the buyer pays, not wait to make sure pos feedback is left for them.   I admit that sometimes I'm slow on feedback, but thank goodness it's not intentional.
