Is anyone familiar with customer service at Comic Images?  I purchased several boxes of Cat in the Hat boxes and received some duds.  I'd like to know if the company is good with this sort of complaint. :-\

There were retail boxes and hobby boxes of Cat in the Hat I think.  I bought a couple boxes and I think 1 or 2 costumes from that set a while back.  If you want the inserts or costumes from this set let me know, I think I bought the complete insert set as well as a couple of costumes from the set and would consider parting with them, let me know if you are interested.

Thanks, Beckham.  I did buy hobby boxes, and remember reading somewhere that costumes were 1:36 packs (although I can't find that info now).  I sent an angry email to Comic Images.  Depending upon how they respond, I'll send you a PM about the costumes. :)

It's doubtful an angry letter of any kind will result in what you hope for. As a customer service rep for a trading card company, I can tell you that I respond better to letters that are polite in tone - even if they are extremely critical - but angry ones make me defensive and I generally don't respond as well as I should.

As for CI specifically, I don't think they guarantee anything in a box, but still, a letter that includes specific details (upc code, box number, your name and address (trust me- more people forget to include their address than you'd imagine) may get a better response.

Just my two cents ;)

Thanks for the info.  I was polite, though.  I told them that I was extremely disappointed in how the boxes broke and gave them details.  There are hobby and retail boxes, and I think the hobby boxes should break better.

Well, it sounds like you did what you could to elicit a response. The only other thing may be to call them or send a certified letter (not that that always works either ... my po signs for all my letters :)

I know I'm not always the fastest at responding - esp. when I don't have an answer (I know I'm supposed to say "Thank you for your letter. I hope to have an answer for you shortly" - but I never feel that's acceptable. I like to come with the answer :)

I wanted to update this and let everyone know how wonderful Comic Images has been.  They responded quickly and I received some cards in the mail today -- one is a costume variant!  I truly never expected that.  I was so impressed that I sent them a thank you note. :)  They will definitely get my business again!

oooh - what's the variant ?? And, I'm glad it all worked out in the end :)

It's a Kelly Preston costume.  All of the swatches I've seen are solid pink, but this one has dark pink and part of a light pink circle on the dress.  I'll try to scan and post it today.  Now all I need is the Cat costume card and I'll have my very first master set!  This one has six costumes, six die-cut cards, three promos and the base set -- it's a lot easier to collect than any HP master set. ::)

Any set is easier to complete than an HP master set. ::)

With the possible exception of Quotable Star Trek TNG!  I love the set, but there are sooooooooo many chase sets, costumes and autos. :)

HEY! I might have this

"Now all I need is the Cat costume card "

at home. If I do, I'll get your address and send it your way...

I know I've got something in my box of extra *stuff* from Cat in the Hat :)

Even if you don't have it, thanks! :)

Comic Images did not produce a binder for this set.  Does anyone know of a source for regular Cat in the Hat or cartoon character binders?  These would be the type that kids use for school.  I've checked some local department stores, like Wal-Mart and Target, but not had any luck.

Sorry to report that the extra costume I have is from Larry :( And come to think of it, I've not seen any binders anywhere -though if you come across one, let me know! Take care

Thanks for looking. :) If I find any binders, I'll pick up one for you.
