Has a Pear Tree numbered 10 and under ever been on EBay, I mean like a nine, two, and the one ???

: Re:Pear Tree Leaf Question?
: sketchqueen April 16, 2005, 07:24:29 AM
Well, I don't know, but I do know #7 never has been on eBay and never will be.

: Re:Pear Tree Leaf Question?
: EmmasOneandOnly April 16, 2005, 07:39:21 AM

: Re:Pear Tree Leaf Question?
: Anna April 17, 2005, 12:48:36 PM
Well I don't have one, but I just wanted to point out to you that it's called Pear Tree Leaves (plural). ;)

: Re:Pear Tree Leaf Question?

Oh, thanks for clearing that up ;)

: Re:Pear Tree Leaf Question?

Yes, I have #7 and it's never leaving the binder :) I'm terrified that one day I'll open the book and it'll be gone!

:)

: Re:Pear Tree Leaf Question?

LOL ;D I'm sure its just nerves

:)

Ahhhhhhhhhh so that's  why I never get invited for tea ;)

On a slightly more serious note I know that number 4 belongs to someone else in the card manufacturing business, so I daresay the early ones didn't hit the mainstream

: Re:Pear Tree Leaf Question?
: sketchqueen April 18, 2005, 07:06:44 PM
Oh Roz-  anytime you're in the right country just stop on by. I'm terrible at making tea, but you're still welcome to visit Chez Kohlbus :)

: Re:Pear Tree Leaf Question?
: Roz April 18, 2005, 07:23:35 PM
I'm terrible at making tea, but you're still welcome to visit Chez Kohlbus :)

Wonderful - although to be fair, I'll make the tea - a good cup of tea has to be the bonus of having a Brit in your home ;)

Should I find myself in America and close by  I think I had best drop by and help counting some wrappers since I made some work for you myself recently ;)

: Re:Pear Tree Leaf Question?
: sketchqueen April 18, 2005, 07:31:59 PM
Ugh  :P - I spent all weekend doing that. At least the weather was perfect, so I did it outside while the boys played!!

: Re:Pear Tree Leaf Question?
: Roz April 18, 2005, 07:34:25 PM
:)

It's a very good job you don't live anywhere windy - it is gorgeous here but it's pretty windy ;)

Does this mean Rittenhouse now owe you a new bottle of sun tan lotion ;) ?

A Pear Tree Card in Pennsylvania! I never would have thought it possible :P If I'm your way, I'll be knocking on the door to see it in person ;)

: Re:Pear Tree Leaf Question?

The only tea I know how to make is instant :P

: Re:Pear Tree Leaf Question?
: Roz April 19, 2005, 08:37:01 PM
 :o

I remember a while back an ebayer did an auction - it was for a tea set and the price included a visit from an English person to come and make tea for you in your own home. The catch? You had to pay their air fare.

Making your own tea is extremely easy - what's difficult is getting tea right for other people :) every one has their own way that they like it. It's also an acquired taste too, but once you have begun your lifetime of addiction a good cup of tea makes you feel so much better :P

: Re:Pear Tree Leaf Question?
: EmmasOneandOnly April 19, 2005, 08:39:49 PM
I've never really tried making tea. My aunt boiled it once that was good. I've never really had anything British, I've had alot of Australian because we study'd that in the fourth grade. I hated that Vegimight stuff :P (no offence to anybody who does like it ;))

: Re:Pear Tree Leaf Question?
: sketchqueen April 19, 2005, 09:06:39 PM
I suppose I like my tea sweet, but not citrus-y. Everyone around here wants to dump lemon in my tea *YUCK*

As for a tree card being in PA - yup, there are at least 2 in PA that I know of.

Ooh - no one talk to Popple!

This is another thing you will find - people use the brand of tea their mother's did and there's very little changing them. In a family where 2 people of different "tea makes" get married I think the woman usually wins. ;)

I think PG Tips (who in non-politically correct days) used to have monkeys dressed up in clothes supping tea for their advertising campaign are the most popular tea brand in Britain, it certainly seems that way. Now however PG tips adverts are great - they are done by Aardman animation (the guys who brought you Wallace and Gromit and the Chicken Run).

I am a Typhoo girl myself :)

That's a lot of cups of tea. Must admit that I am not very keen on tea, I am a coffee girl myself but it has to have no milk or sugar.

On the question of PTL, do we know how many are lovingly owned by forum members. Happy to start this off by admitting that I own number 20.

As a Southerner, I would say that sweet tea is the best. *Can I have a little tea in my sugar?*  I've never seen it in any restaraunt north of South Carolina.  My niegbor has a pear tree, anyone want me to send them a bag of leaves? ::)

Good decision not to do, you shouldn't buy all the rare cards on the market.  ;D

But as a follow on, I wonder who, if anyone, is kicking themselves for selling all their dups and their last one, too?  :'(   :'(   :'(

Now I'll wager they wish they had kept at least one.  :)

I was wondering what the leaves where made of. I've got millions of fake leaves with a wax coating. I could make my own ;)

I asked John this same question and he responded:

Price/auction history---- only 4 months and the supply of PTLs seems to have completely dried up.

I guess they are all safely tucked away in collections.

: Re:Pear Tree Leaves Question?
: Roz April 25, 2005, 12:37:24 AM
;D that's odd, I was thinking we had recently had a drought but then MPC sold one and the collector zone has just sold one (to a lucky forum member).

According to the price guide on ebay alone 5 have been sold this year - and before mid January there hadn't been any on for 2 months.

I don't think Anna or Tower need panic JUST yet, but from what I hear another will be on ebay around the release of SS (so if you still need one save up your pennies).

Wow that just goes to show how lucky you guys have housing costs - even the highest peartree is only 2.5 times Mark's monthly RENT!!!

And only 3x mine and I only rent a ROOM! (and that's in College so in the UK that's known as "cheap" accommodation!)

: Re:Pear Tree Leaves Question?

that card is 6 times over higher then our house rent :o :o :o :o :o :o

Well, I dont consider myself expensive to my mom. I earn my own money for my cards. But I would never spend over a thousand on one when I could use that money for other stuff beside cards

Well, in a short period the cards seem to have disappeared. Only 4 months ago and less they were going at +/_ $2000.00. Where did they all go? I think they are hidden away in collections. You have two, don't you?

OK - it wasn't booted off (I like exaggerating) but the thread mysteriously disapppeared without warning one day. Luckily Roz had saved the thread info in her notepad and we got so disgruntled with the Topps restrictions (understandable as a company policy of course, but we wnated somewhere to discuss these cards and other thing non-Topps related) that Roz strong-armed Mark into letting us squat here and make a temporary home. We managed to attract some members from the Topps board as well as some by word of mouth and Ebay etc.

And here we are over a year later! 8)

Isn't it odd how history gets blurred in the telling ;)

I did no such thing :P I thought it was a bit dicy discussing it on the topps board and I set up the shack as our temporary home, assuming we would collect PoA and then give up and go and live on a Kibbutz or something.

Anyway I PMed EVERYONE who had posted in that thread (apart from those who were saying "this is a LOTR board for heavens sake) telling them about the new place.

So I don't have a notepad record of what was said. Suffice it to say that it was all a mass of confusion because no one knew what was in the set. Because... surprise surprise Artbox hadn't released the info.

There were people on one board swearing black and blue that the Harry 100 robe card did not exist and our very own forum member Gimli had pulled one! He had to provide photographic evidence before anyone believed him ::)

: Re: Pear Tree Leaves Question?

: Re: Pear Tree Leaves Question?

No I just did it directly from the Topps board before it was deleted ;)

Just in the nick of time
