: Rittenhouse's toploader seal... to take it out or to leave it in...??
: Roz April 14, 2005, 05:27:47 PM
THAT is the question!

I appreciate that lots of people would keep it in the toploader because that way it's "manufacturer approved" and untouched by the previous owner... and I guess if you hope not to ever have to sell any of your collection you can do pretty much what you like really.

However, with things like the TNG sketch card case toppers you can't quite see all of the sketch if it's in the toploader... which leaves us in a bit of a conundrum: to take out or not to - that is the question*

What do you guys do?

*Not to mention that it's easy to present in a binder in a 9 pocket page if it's out, but if it's in the toploader you need to use 4 pocket pages and be prepared for it to move around a bit.

Take it out. We only put the darn thing in there so it doesn't rattle about in the case :)

Your wish is my command ;)

I actually think it's a pretty good idea because I am sure case loaders must get damaged sometimes rattling about with 6-12 heavy little boxes.  :-\

If you read a box of Ultra pro toploaders all they say is *kkeps cards clean*. They say nothing about archvial quality.
Now somewhere in thhis mess of an office, I ahve BCW toploaders and when I ordered them I remember reading on the website that they WERE archivial safe, but unless you know for sure, you're risking loss of the cards over years.
It can argued that it might lessen *resale* value, but I think enjoyment value is more imoprtant.

I'm pretty sure ours are BCW ones, but still - do you really want your cards living in a plastic tomb ;)
