: Help out Mark and Roz!!! : ferdinand_the_yak April 14, 2005, 11:53:38 AM My fellow Yaks (and occasional llamas),
No doubt you all know that it is thanks to Mark and Roz that this forum even exists - thanks to Roz for all her hard work and thanks to Mark for allowing us to barge in on what is his showcase for his comics :) The forum costs quite a bit to maintain and the more members there are, the more the costs will be. The increasing number of members is great but what would be a great help is if we got rid of unnecessary material on the site. In your PM inbox, there is an outbox function that logs each and every PM you send. If we could all occasionally empty this and also unnecessary inbox material it would help reduce the 'clutter' (no offense meant to anyone as I know I contribute a lot of clutter myself ;)) on the site! Another thing that has been mentioned by a few people is the double posting - the modify button is our friend :) And also buying through the Amazon/Sideshow etc links is also a great help! These two lovely people do alot of the work on this site FOR FREE and they are not asking for anything from us in return. I thought it would be nice for us to do something for the forum. Cards aside, I have met so many great people via the forum and keep in contact with alot of them. I am sure many of you are the same! Thanks guys (and yaks and llamas) 8) : Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : beckham1 April 14, 2005, 12:03:04 PM Would it also help to make a contribution to the cost? If so let me know and I would be willing to make a "donation". ;D
: Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : EmmasOneandOnly April 14, 2005, 12:11:22 PM Your in luck,
Anna informed me about the PMs. But not much Harry Potter Stuff is poping up on Amazon. : Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : ferdinand_the_yak April 14, 2005, 12:13:39 PM Becks - that would be wonderful!
I like you better than that other Beckham bloke ;D Even if we all donated $2/1 pound each a month - that's theoretically $600/300 pounds a month! I know not all members post regularly, but if even 50 members donated a couple of dollars or a pound a month, it would be $100/50 pounds towards running the forum per month! : Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : EmmasOneandOnly April 14, 2005, 12:15:04 PM I want to help the forum so much but you can only donate with PayPals :'(
: Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : beckham1 April 14, 2005, 12:19:26 PM I certainly think that sounds reasonable. Or just ante up $10 or $15 when possible (once or twice a year of course more if you have the funds to) count me in. Where can we paypal our contributions for the site to?
: Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : ferdinand_the_yak April 14, 2005, 12:21:21 PM There's a 'Paypal Donate' button at the top right corner of the forum - that will take you to the Paypal site.
Thanks for the support! :) : Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : Tower April 14, 2005, 03:08:56 PM In your PM inbox, there is an outbox function that logs each and every PM you send. If we could all occasionally empty this and also unnecessary inbox material it would help reduce the 'clutter' Oh. :o I never noticed this outbox, i ever thought, there isn't one. :'( Why doesn't it appear when i click on "Instant message"? >:( There was a lot of stuff in this outbox, tons of PMs. But i deleted all of them. :) : Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : Roz April 14, 2005, 04:18:34 PM He hee - thanks Jo.
Emptying my outbox is something that I quite often forget to do, but I ought to do weekly. When you click on your messages from the main forum you just see your incoming messages. Along the bar to the top right of the column of messages you can see where to click to see your "outbox". If everyone cleared this out once in a while we might very well end up with a forum taking only half as much server space :) Thanks for the thought Jo, and to Becks too. We don't need £300 a month to run the forum ;) but any contribution towards the costs is always welcome via the paypal donate button at the top right of the screen. ;D : Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : Anna April 14, 2005, 08:18:31 PM There was a lot of stuff in this outbox, tons of PMs. But i deleted all of them. :) You must be a real popular guy Tower, tons of PMs. ;) I delete my PMs from my outbox daily. As to my inbox, I copy the PMs to a MS Word file and save it to my hard disk. I can then reference them at any time and I can use the search function to help me locate a specific PM quickly. (Anna's tip for the day ;) ) : Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : Roz April 14, 2005, 10:11:03 PM And also buying through the Amazon/Sideshow etc links is also a great help! He hee - as yet we have $4 in Sideshow affiliate commission ;) - woah steady on there Sideshow :P ;D : Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : Goofyjas April 14, 2005, 10:19:20 PM yea but as soon as all those pre orders ship you will get tons more :P
How many aff links do you guys have? maybe there can be a sticky with them? like with amazon, SS, so if someone gets one they can use it? I have no probs helping out! : Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : sketchqueen April 14, 2005, 10:21:56 PM Oh. I never noticed this outbox Me neither, but mine's empty now :) Not that I'm a total chatterbox. Well, okay, I am, but still - every little bit helps I've been told ;) : Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : Roz April 14, 2005, 11:06:48 PM :) I was teasing Jas, every bit does help, £2/$4 can be a good bit of bandwidth ;D
And hopefully people will buy the Darth Vaders and Pippins they ordered and then we'll run for like 4 months ;) : Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : Morningangel-Iola April 15, 2005, 02:38:21 AM OMG someone really should have mentioned this sooner :-[ I think I've been blocking up the gangways all on my own sorry :( I did buy some stuff though the shacks Amazon button the other day ;)
: Re:Help out Mark and Roz!!! : grecopa May 07, 2005, 02:56:56 AM Becks - that would be wonderful! I just made a donation ;D The price guide has saved me from overbidding lots of times, this place is well worth it! :ebay: Love the eBay guy!I like you better than that other Beckham bloke ;D Even if we all donated $2/1 pound each a month - that's theoretically $600/300 pounds a month! I know not all members post regularly, but if even 50 members donated a couple of dollars or a pound a month, it would be $100/50 pounds towards running the forum per month! : Re: Help out Mark and Roz!!! : mcgonagall May 28, 2005, 11:42:03 AM I have no idea if this will help or not but it is a suggestion
when you have posted a topic ( eg i want such and such a card) and you get the card why not let mark or roz know that that topic can be deleted hope this helps : Re: Help out Mark and Roz!!! Post on Signiture!! : padge77 May 18, 2006, 07:42:35 PM Hey Mr And Ms Moderator's
Please delete my post on my problems with my signiture piccy as you have helped me out on that a big thanks!!! Cheers Paul : Re: Help out Mark and Roz!!! : Sharon May 19, 2006, 12:57:19 AM Paul your avatar looks great - it took me ages to work out how to do it ::). If you want to delete a post you can actually do it from your screen. Just get to a post you have made and there will be a delete option. Although with so many new members that will probably be quite a useful pointer for others putting on piccies ;D
: Re: Help out Mark and Roz!!! : padge77 May 19, 2006, 01:21:40 PM Hi Sharon ;) :D,
Many thanks Sharon for sorting my avatar out for me i really appreciated it!!!. It's my all time favourite cartoon which aired on ITV around 1986 on a Saturday kids show called "Get Fresh" with Gilbert the alien. This is the reason why my email addy is the name of one of the hero characters as shown here. Once again many thanks you are all a credit to this forum which I love being a part of!!! ;) Cheers Paul : Re: Help out Mark and Roz!!! : ukpatriotsfan February 04, 2010, 03:12:26 AM I`ve just made my 2nd contribution to the forum! :o
What a wonderful person i am! ;D.Please people try to donate a couple of pounds or so to keep the forum up and running as it`s very useful to all of us cards collectors who need a real life in the real world :o : Re: Help out Mark and Roz!!! : alanwilcox83 February 24, 2010, 06:04:31 AM What paypal address would I make donations too? This has been a great resource for me, I feel a little guilty about it being free.
Alan : Re: Help out Mark and Roz!!! : kbmum February 24, 2010, 08:35:18 AM If you look near the upper right corner of the page, just under the eBay section with a couple of auctions, there is a small PayPal button. Click on it and it'll take you to the right place for any donation you'd like to make. :)
: Re: Help out Mark and Roz!!! : Roz February 25, 2010, 02:37:38 AM That's very kind folks and much appreciated. Our web host is endlessly patient and rather too kind so we are lucky we haven't been booted out (YAY!)
Glad everyone finds our years worth of chatter a useful resource ;) |
