1st year girls' skirts... kinda sick... :P

Exactly what I thought :P But we can always avoid that one since you and I are not completists ;)

Great minds think alike!

But we can always avoid that one since you and I are not completists ;)

Thank heavens for that :D

I think i will pass on that one tooo

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: kbmum April 13, 2005, 05:19:27 PM
The five costumes and five props per case sounds like Artbox is getting back to the same odds as the POA original set -- one costume or prop per 24 packs.

I see that there will be another Harry Quidditch robe.  Hmm...I think I know what I'll be pulling from my two boxes! :P

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: EmmasOneandOnly April 13, 2005, 05:40:52 PM
I STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO GET A CHOCOLATE FROG BOX ;D . Maybe the first year girls skirt is Susan Bones or someone we've seen ??? and I dont see any Emma :'(

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: ferdinand_the_yak April 13, 2005, 05:54:25 PM
The only things that are at all interesting to me at the moment are the props... unless they have some big signers up their sleeves, the rest looks pretty plain TBH :P

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: EmmasOneandOnly April 13, 2005, 05:56:08 PM
Yeah, the props are the only thing interesting me right know too. I hope they have some Hufflepuff Ties in this set...

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: Roz April 13, 2005, 06:05:03 PM
Jo, I think the ties are pretty cool, especially if they do Hufflepuff (they are a load of Duffers Anna ;) and  Ravenclaw. Then owners of the PoAU ones will have rather a nice set.

But like the first set the props may very well be the stars of the show  ;D

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: EmmasOneandOnly April 13, 2005, 06:08:14 PM
I'm just glad their bringing the Chocolate Frog back because I missed it in the first set

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: ferdinand_the_yak April 13, 2005, 06:14:20 PM
Oh I don't deny that the costumes will be nice... its just that you can't really come up with fantastically interesting new costumes for each set. All the HP books centre around the school, so I think we will be seeing plenty of balck robes/Quidditch costumes/random clothing (as it seems like Cuaron introduced more casual clothing). So unless we get a new and interesting character (Rita Skeeter, Voledemort etc) we aren't going to see many novel things as far as costume cards go.

Props on the other hand - well there are so many for each book - you can never really go wrong there! There have not been any repeats yet apart from the Daily Prophet.

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: EmmasOneandOnly April 13, 2005, 06:26:16 PM
But the Daily can be explained because its changed every movie

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: Tower April 13, 2005, 06:53:56 PM
Interesting news. :)

Well, some cards are a little bit disappointing, but some sound really great. :D

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: Roz April 13, 2005, 06:54:40 PM
Like Harry Quidditch and 2 further Warick Davies autos perchance?

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: EmmasOneandOnly April 13, 2005, 06:55:08 PM
But, the Quidditch Robes are different from POA, a totaly different color and texture

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: Tower April 13, 2005, 06:58:01 PM
Like Harry Quidditch and 2 further Warick Davies autos perchance?

Yes, or Matthew Lewis again. But most of the cards will be great. :)

*Sends thought controlling mind waves to Tom Felton, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith and Robbie Coltrane to SIGN SIGN SIGN*

And Dan - sign again! How else am I going to get your autograph? ;)

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: EmmasOneandOnly April 13, 2005, 07:07:19 PM
You can never have to much Emma ;)

Question: Is anybody else besides Artbox produce SS? ???

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: Luluhime April 13, 2005, 07:09:32 PM
Dan has to sign again. I really need another chance at getting his auto  ;D ;)

btw, how are they going to do the coins? Roz, you mentioned something about using a quarter of a coin in each swatch...won't the swatches be smaller than normal if they do that? I'm having a confused moment ???

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: ferdinand_the_yak April 13, 2005, 07:35:42 PM
I disagree - I think you can have too much Emma *ducks as Mike throws Sloppy joes at me*

I loved Orlando Bloom as Legolas in the LOTR trilogy, but I was thankful that he didn't sign more than the 2 series of cards that he did... the reason being that too many of these cards would devalue the previous ones. I'm not so much concerned money wise, but more the fact that I would appreciate my OB cards more if I knew that I was only one of 3000 people in the world that had one (or 2 ;) ) In my opinion, I think 2 sets for Em is enough for the time being - they need to save her for a future set - OoTP maybe?

But Dan - 50 cards?? Get scrawling Potter ;)

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: EmmasOneandOnly April 13, 2005, 07:38:41 PM
I just hope they priduce a box with my name on it that has an Emma auto in it and watch your back, I've got plenty of Sloppy Joes ;)

I have a feeling the coins were pretty big so these swatches will still be big - but an odd shape.

I heard Dan had said he wouldn't sign again in future sets, but you can keep your fingers and toes crossed just in case ;)

: Re:YET MORE INFO

Well as soon as someone here gets one, they better post a picture  :D

Bummer  :( Still, like you suggested, every limb of mine is crossed...there's still a slight chance  ;D

Question: Is anybody else besides Artbox produce SS? ???

There was a Sorcerer's Stone set prduced by Wizards of the Coast.  There are no inserts, just base cards.  If I'm not mistaken, the cards are slightly bigger than the standard trading card.  Here's an auction for the set:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=219&item=6170057611

As for the Artbox SS costume cards, I'll be very surprised if there isn't a Quirrell turban.

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: rns91294 April 13, 2005, 09:14:03 PM
I would have prefered to see 10 costumes per case, but I guess this will do.

I believe that the Turban will be a costume card.  I saw it in the current NSU magazine.  They also mentioned the Hogwart's schedule and i think the welcome letter Harry received.

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: gimli April 13, 2005, 09:48:10 PM
I was speaking to Roz and she said my guess on average amount of cards is terribly out of date so i will update my thinking

12 costumes average of 333 each
14 props average of 286 each
13 Autos average of 307 each
9 Film cards average of 266 each

so I am sure we will get some higher than those but that means too there will be some lower numbered ones too.

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: EmmasOneandOnly April 13, 2005, 09:49:14 PM
its keeps rising :'(

its keeps rising :'(

Well with a fixed "celing" of 8000 boxes, the number of cards shouldn't go up, just the number of different cards produced

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: EmmasOneandOnly April 13, 2005, 10:30:48 PM
Will everyone get a case, box. I mean everyones buying them and I have to wait FOREVER. I got my POA box of a small site five months after it came out so...I might not get a box of this set and not enjoy opening packs *crys outloud :'(*

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: Roz April 13, 2005, 10:36:31 PM
I don't think so - some collectors don't like to buy boxes...and they are the ones with tidy homes, only one base set and didn't cry about PoAU ;)

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: EmmasOneandOnly April 13, 2005, 10:38:45 PM
So your saying that I can get boxes because most people just buy cases?

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: Roz April 13, 2005, 10:42:03 PM
I'm saying you will have no problem buying individual cards on ebay upon release.  A box is good fun though Mike.

I was teasing that my home has a pile 5 cases high of cards all sorted into base sets and that it's untidy so people like Jules (nienna) who do not buy boxes or cases are not cluttered up like me!

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: EmmasOneandOnly April 13, 2005, 10:45:11 PM
I dont think I'll be buying off EBay, you never know, I might get lucky and find a stack of boxes ;)

I think I'm feeling the itch to buy some boxes....

All this news seems so extremely promising.  I had been planning on saving up and getting a case or two of GoF.  But now I'm thinkign about investing in a box or two of SS now.

HMMMm there seems to be alot of really cool inserts.  And a JOHN CLEESE AUTO>  COME ON!  I'm personally not from the East side of the pond, but I have been a huge Monty Python fan for years.  I wouldn't mind pulling one of these, or at least picking one up on Ebay later.

Is anyone buying a few cases and looking to sell a box or three?  Let me know, I would really like to purchase a few.

Thanks,
Aaron

ROFL!!!
I might be canny enough to buy the cards I like off eBay rather than risking pulling nothing from the boxes, but rest assured Roz .... my house is probably more cluttered than yours without buying cards by the case! HaHaHaHaHaHa!!!!!! ::) ;D ;D ;D

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: gimli April 14, 2005, 03:14:45 AM
my trouble is I still have 26 cases of unsorted Potter Update base cards plus all the other stuff i have in stock (unsorted) so they do take up quite a bit of space less when you eventually get round to sorting

not that i can be bothered to do it for pennys a set

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: Nienna April 14, 2005, 03:36:23 AM
Good grief Chris ... 26 cases!?! :o
Maybe we should organise a 'base-set sorting' party at your house to get the job done?! ::)

Like Harry Quidditch and 2 further Warick Davies autos perchance?

I don't mind the repeats with Warwick Davis.  In the HP world, I've always thought of him as Professor Flitwick and that's the auto I'd prefer.

I thought he also played Griphook, but was that someone else?

: Re:YET MORE INFO

The auction is for a factory-sealed box.  Wax box is an older term from when trading cards were packed in wax paper packets instead of foil packets.

: Re:YET MORE INFO

And my have to be imported so its even longer :(

For the update set, Artbox did staggered shipping so that distributors across the US and in the UK received their cases at roughly the same time.  MPC was the first person to have cards on eBay.  I know that most people in the UK had their boxes before I did in the US.

: Re:YET MORE INFO
: Roz April 22, 2005, 02:36:03 PM
Yes I think TomUnique was the first person in the US to have his cases, and he was a day or two behind Cards Inc. I think the UK cases had been packed first.

However, the UK was a good two weeks or so later than the US for the PoA set so you just never know, although when I was talking to Darren he seemed to think the "simultaneous release" would go ahead.
