Does anyone know why sometimes your payments are automatically accepted but SOMETIMES the payment has to be accepted by "accepting".

When I receive a payment that needs "accepting" I never get an email about it so it's really annoying!!!

Check your options in Paypal,

This normally happens if you have it set to Query

1 : Payments from a Foriegn Customer
2 : Payments from an Unverified Customer
3 : If you have a Non Business paypal account and the incomming payment is not from Paypal funds but a CC/Check payment
4 : Payments that would take your account over £1000 (The Maximum Paypal UK accounts are insured for)

There are options in your Paypal preferences to remove the blocks on the first 2 but not the last two,

Ahh yes it was the £1,000 one when we had payment for the peartree - I had to sign away any rights to the £1000 should they go bust!

What a cheek - they had already charged me $70 in receiving monies plus a further $50-60 for translating US $ to UK £.

"plus a further $50-60 for translating US $ to UK £." No way! I never get charged just for changing the currencie. They have bad rates, to their advantage, but they don't charge me. Another thing is that it sux that people outside the us can't get their adress verified :P

Paypal  does have its problems, but it has made the whole international transactions process a whole lot easier,  and being realistic the fees are fair ( :o Grits teeth as she say's it!) bearing in mind what it would cost you for a merchant account

I am lucky that my Bank account is in the US & the UK, so I don't have the problem losing out on Paypal's shall we say (Creative Exchange Rates!),  

I hear so much about Paypal causung problems, but can hold my hands up and say that I have used it from the day it opened up (Must be 6 years now!! not sure), and have only had one chargeback for a Misused card, (Luckily the buyer was only 50 miles away so I managed to drive down and reposess the item and all I ended up losing were my time and petrol), I understand a lot of others have not been so lucky, A lot comes down to vetting your buyers and making sure you cover yourself with trackable mail, but Paypal has also worked in my favor and on several occasions when items have not turned up I won, paypal have always managed to get me my money back without me having to resort to my Credit Card Company,

I will stop waffling on now!

Paypal will always side with the buyer (If there is no proof of delivery), thats why its always important as a seller to use a service that gets a signature on delivery,  without it they will always side with the buyer,

So if you pay by Paypal and the item does not arrive, you file a Claim with paypal (Thru a well hidden form in the paypal security centre), and they will then ask the seller for proof of delivery, if they don't provide it within 7 days they will freeze the sellers account until thy refund you, (If the money is in the sellers account they will automatically refund you from that). If there is not enough in the sellers account they will take what they can and not unfreeze the account till the refund is made in full

As such it is a fairly well protected system for the buyer, but can leave sellers vunerable unless you do use an insured signed for service, (There are some buyers out there who know how to misuse the service and will claim against you to get a refund even though they got the item!!)

As usual its a case of being very aware of who you are dealing with,  

Anyway, I admit I am a huge paypal fan,!  I know some people have had a very bad experience with them, but I have been lucky/careful!

That was very interesting information.  I wish I had known about how PayPal operates earlier.  I had a problem with a Seller who did not deliver on two items I purchased.  I did not have the knowledge or especially the confidence that PayPal would get my money back for me so I filed a claim with my credit card company and received satisifaction that way.  

This was the only problem I have had to date in over 1200 transactions.

1200 - (P.S. folks - one of them was Mark and me - we were awful - probably the people he had to claim back from his credit card  :P)

Folks don't listen to Roz!!  She and Mark are two of the best eBay Sellers out there period!!   :)

The problem Seller I dealt with however was from England!!   :P  This Seller was offering framed Film Cells from LOTR's movies and boy they sure looked great!!  Unfortunately the Seller either had some type of problem because they had very good feedback.  There were about 15 of Buyers who started posting very negative feedback about the Seller as they did not get their purchase nor was the Seller responding to numerous emails.  eBay eventually pulled them but I did not have the confidence they would be able to get my money back so I contacted my credit card comapny and they took care of it for me.

A UK ite ripped you off? Right - Mark me and Ben will go round and sort them out tonight :P actually paypal means that you often don't have their address which is a shame as it gives you no way to trace them!!!

It's a shame as it sounded a nice product - hopefully you and Mark can have even nicer ones made though Ed??

What's the plan with those then Ed??

Take out great frames of each of our heroes? Surround a mini poster or postcards with them?

Anyone here know of a good picture framer who could help? (perhaps that's something we need to think of having done more locally though)

I have many great LOTR's postcards you sent to me plus ones I purchased on eBay.  I could use those at the center and surround the image with either individual film cells or a series of cells within a mat that is cut out for the cells.  Any good picture frame shop would be able to do this for you.  I am also thinking of a clear backing - some type of plastic so the light will show through and you can view the film cells.  Finish this up with either a wood or metal frame and you are ready to display your favorite LOTR's stars.
