I almost feel sorry for the winning bidder...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=59&item=3880216560&rd=1 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=59&item=3880216560&rd=1)

I am 99% certain that all the autographs are fake, unless all 3 of the cast were having a 'lets do my autograph differently today' day  ::) ::)

: Re:eep!
: Nienna March 20, 2005, 05:08:34 AM
I'd have to agree with you on this one ... all three autos look terrible. :-[

: Re:eep!
: EmmasOneandOnly March 20, 2005, 05:12:34 AM
Compare it with the auto cards then you'll know its fake.

: Re:eep!
: Luluhime March 20, 2005, 05:15:12 AM
oh dear, the same person is bidding on another 'fake' auto by the same seller... ::)

I don't get it, there's loads more nicer looking autos on ebay going for much less. What makes her want these ones so much  ??? ???

: Re:eep!
: Anna March 20, 2005, 05:27:06 AM
These are all bogus signatures.  They don't even come close to the real ones.  Can the buyer be that naive? ???

Part of me wants to send the highest bidder an email, but another part of me wants to keep quiet. I have a feeling if I were to say anything it might make matters worse  :-\ ???

Its a awful lot of money to pay for a fake :(

Indeed it is!  :(

Currently, she will be forking out $820 AUD/£339/$652 USD for 2 lots of fake autos. At this rate, she might aswell just brought the triple auto  ::)

Those autos are shocking.

The dill is an Aussie as well ::) How embarassing.

We are not all that thick :D

We know ;D. I dont think anybody is ungreatful enough on here to sell something like that. >:(

: Re:eep!
: ferdinand_the_yak March 20, 2005, 01:38:44 PM
I couldn't do it. I really couldn't - I'd feel so guilty.

The seller AND the buyer are Aussies :P

We had a thread about this earlier. Some autos are really easy to copy eg. Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn from LOTR) and it wouldn't take much to scrawl some ink on a poster and pass it off as authentic. Of the three, Dan's auto looks quite easy to copy and I reckon with a few goes I could get Emma's auto pretty close to the ones on the auto cards. Rupert's might take a bit longer, but its not too complicated.

I can't understand people like this - pure greed  >:(

: Re:eep!
: EmmasOneandOnly March 20, 2005, 01:42:16 PM
Just people trying make money off other people. I would love an auto but I'd use that money to buy boxes and try my luck for a real one and not some rip-off >:(

Here's another one.  The seller states that the card is made by Inkworks.

I have purchased a couple of autographed cards from this seller.  The cards she sells were cards she's had autographed at various after party events.  I believe these signatures to be authentic (although I'm not an expert).  Also, she doesn't sell them for enormous prices like the seller mentioned in the previous posts.  Here's one of the cards I bought from her.

I would like to see this.  ;D

But this one here i am more proud of:

I am working on a solution to make it looking much more better, combined with all my costume cards in a picture frame. If it will be completed anytime, i will post a picture here. :)

I think Roz would be the one of the few that remember the OmniversalTrader debacle on the Topps board. I seem to recall him mentioning 'jakesmom2002' as a business partner (or something of the like) during the legal threats he made to some members 8) Their auctions for HP and LOTR signed base cards look very similar although he's not been selling them lately

Or I could be mistaken :-/

: Re:eep!
: Nienna March 21, 2005, 06:55:02 PM
Although I've never really bothered with the Topps board, I heard about it at the time and I do recall seeing the flood of LOTR stuff that Omniversal had for auction around 18+ months ago ... even bid on a few of them too but thankfully didn't win any! ;)
What concerns me more is this 'business partner' bit and if indeed this is true, then perhaps we ought to be a bit more circumspect in bidding and buying from Jakesmom in case these items aren't all they're made up to be. :-\
I suppose the only good thing is that you've not paid an astronomical amount per card to get your set Tower ... not like some poor souls who paid out a LOT more for omniversal's LOTR offerings ... I can't bring myself to call them anything else, sorry.
It's such a shame he persists in selling such awful *cough* signed *cough* stuff, as he's always been pleasant deal with when I've been in contact with him! ::)

: Re:eep!
: ferdinand_the_yak March 21, 2005, 07:13:40 PM
I am not TOTALLY certain about this - it happened a while back (a year, year and a half?) so I don't want to say anything negative about jakesmom2002 in the case I have made a mistake. I DO remember that omni mentioned that he worked with someone else during his premiere mass signings. And his auctions DID look like these ones. Can anyone remember anything else?

Tower - don't worry... its likely FTY's memory is wrong ;)

: Re:eep!
: Tower March 22, 2005, 12:29:12 AM
Well, i should take it easy. I should tell myself daily that the items are no fakes.  ::) No one can convince mew of the opposite. And if he has very good arguments or proofs, i will hold the hands on my ears so i can't hear anything.  ;D  ;)  ;D.

I guess, i won't buy any other cards or posters from this seller (these are enough), so i think, it's better not to think about the past. I mean, i feel better, if i don't do.  ;D

So i can say, am sure, all signs are original. ;)  ;D

: Re:eep!
: kbmum March 22, 2005, 12:53:39 AM
The thing that makes me uneasy about these auctions is the number of autographed items that one seller has for sale.  Just about everything was signed at a premiere, which is usually a very busy event  I can see stars signing some autographs, but not many.  Plus, she has Dan, Rupert and Emma autos available for as low as US $6.00!

: Re:eep!
: Tower March 22, 2005, 01:02:01 AM
Yes, that's absolutely right, i have thought the same (after buying). But then i stopped thinking about this. For the moment it's enough for me that there is a possibilty it can be no fake. The best possibility i have seen for those auctions. All the others i have seen yet are fakes in my opinion. Maybe this too, who knows.  ::)
And also i have my definately original autograph cards. :)

: Re:eep!
: Trey March 22, 2005, 04:06:58 AM
Whether they are the real autos or not doesnt matter cause they look great, the poster will look fantastic if you frame it, and who would really know the difference in autos anyway? I think it looks nice tower!! Well done!

: Re:eep!
: Morningangel-Iola March 22, 2005, 04:08:57 AM
If you write to the kids will they sign things (within reason :-\)?

Maybe this is not what a "real" collector thinks, but it's absolutely what i thought. ;)  ;D

During shooting of Philosophers if they got letters then they sent a preprinted auto by the 3 of them. I have one but bought it from ebay rather than writing. So I highly doubt they would sign things in person NOW, but you can always try!

: Re:eep!
: Morningangel-Iola March 22, 2005, 04:24:42 AM
Ta, I just wondered. I don't think I would have the nerve anyway :-[

Just been over to www.danradcliffe.com and if you write to him your are most likely to get a preprinted auto and a news letter (and if you are very very lucky a personal reply).

Not to others don't have two windows open and then wonder why dan's fan site is talking about ghost doh ::) (ie reading the wrong window)

: Re:eep!
: saruman March 22, 2005, 04:35:52 AM
i still wonder thouhgh why people don't just go for topps.rittenhouse/artbox..... signed cards where they know for sure it has been signed by the person because with a photo you are always going to be wondering and with cards there is no question

: Re:eep!
: ferdinand_the_yak March 22, 2005, 05:24:40 AM

For me its more a matter of principle - you might not care if its real or not, but some people actually do. $20 a card may not be much to you or I, but imagine if you were some kid who scrimped and saved for 2 months to buy one of these cards and found out they were fake. Or even a 'signed' movie script or poster that turned out to be fake (these go for into the $100s). I don't know about you, but I sure would be uncomfortable knowing I spent $300 on a fake signed poster even if it LOOKED like it was real.

So many premiere signings? Isn't there a child labour policy? If the kids only signed a few official Artbox ones, why would they sit and sign hundreds of non-official ones... at a premiere? I sure can think of a million places I would rather be if i was the star at the centre of a premiere! Can these 'premiere signers' offer a greater incentive for them to sign more cards than a big company like Artbox? I don't think so.

If people buy crap like this, these sellers are more likely to produce more rubbish to put on the market. Demand will increase the flow. I agree with Saruman - I never buy anything other than certified autographs by Topps etc.

That said, there are some real 'uns out there, for your sake, I hope they are these real ones Tower :)
