: An even more evil poll : ferdinand_the_yak May 28, 2004, 04:56:22 AM Lets say You-Know-Who dropped by at your house with his mate Sauron and they demanded that you choose from your collection of the HP and LOTR books and movies only 2 options which you could save. The other 2 would be cast deep into the fires from whence they came...
So whats it to be? My last poll for a while... ;) : Re:An even more evil poll : Roz May 28, 2004, 06:32:48 AM OOh it has to be LOTR books and LOTR movies... but I am torn, I do like the HP books... as yet the movies are great but haven't quite matched the books... unlike the LOTR movies; they had to leave out and mix up the books but kept an amazing spirit of the books!
: Re:An even more evil poll : Ed... Van Halen May 28, 2004, 07:28:55 AM Quite simply...Potter is lacking one thing.....BALROGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
: Re:An even more evil poll : samwise16 May 28, 2004, 08:03:22 AM i think it lacks Peter Jackson ::)
: Re:An even more evil poll : Ed... Van Halen May 28, 2004, 08:17:11 AM Him as well!
: Re:An even more evil poll : MakTheYak May 28, 2004, 10:55:23 AM Quite simply...Potter is lacking one thing.....BALROGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fair enough. Can't go wrong with Balrogs. i think it lacks Peter Jackson ::) And you also have a good point. I think it would be very interesting to see how a Potter film directed by Mr Jackson would turn out. : Re:An even more evil poll : savage727 May 28, 2004, 01:28:49 PM Sign me up for LOTR's Books & Movies anytime!! 8)
Has anyone heard anything about Peter Jackson's current project - King Kong? All I know is that he has the same crew that worked on LOTR's with him including Weta. I think his remake of this movie is going to be exceptional. : Re:An even more evil poll : Roz May 28, 2004, 09:20:09 PM From the horses mouth; Howard Shore would be interested in doing the music but hasn't been asked!
: Re:An even more evil poll : MakTheYak May 28, 2004, 09:38:43 PM I'm afraid I'm not all that excited about King Kong. I wasn't a big fan of the original(s?) although I'm sure I'll end up seeing this one anyway!
: Re:An even more evil poll : savage727 May 28, 2004, 11:43:05 PM Mark:
King Kong for its time was a technological wonder and special effects masterpiece. The movie was a huge hit that scared and entertained audiences worldwide. This movie laid the foundation for modern special effects and I can see why it is one of Peter Jackson's favorite movies of all time and why he would want to update it with today's technology. : Re:An even more evil poll : MakTheYak May 29, 2004, 02:39:47 AM Ooh err, I've been put in my place! I'm afraid Donkey Kong is still my favourite giant ape though :-\
: Re:An even more evil poll : samwise16 May 29, 2004, 03:15:29 AM Ooh err, I've been put in my place! I'm afraid Donkey Kong is still my favourite giant ape though :-\ LOL me too ;D : Re:An even more evil poll : savage727 May 29, 2004, 06:38:26 AM My intent was not to put anyone in their place. :) I had a Film History class in College that was outstanding and gave me insights I would not normally have had. I really love the movies from the 1930's through the 1950's especially the ones in Black & White. The acting was so much better compared to most of today's films.
: Re:An even more evil poll : Ed... Van Halen May 29, 2004, 08:03:42 AM Citizen Kane afficianado I presume? Good man...obviously got ypur head screwed on film-wise ;D
: Re:An even more evil poll : savage727 May 29, 2004, 10:39:20 PM Hi Ed:
You are a man after my own heart. Citizen Kane - what an all time classic. Orson Wells was outstanding in that one and so many others. So many great films were made in the areas of Action/Adventure, Suspense, Horror, War, Mystery, Westerns, you could go on and on. I am glad to see many of these movies coming out on DVD. I have many of them on tape but have long term concerns about how well they will last due to the film drying out and becoming brittle. I know I will not have that problem with DVD's. :) : Re:An even more evil poll : Ed... Van Halen May 30, 2004, 12:30:48 AM Have you got the 60th Anniversary kane DVD??? Well worth a purchase...plus the Superbit version of Lawrence of Arabia, the picture quality is top! Unfortunately it lacks the 2nd disc of extras which was on the two-disc intial release but the improved picture and sound make up for it....what can I say Maurice Jarre in DTS??? :)
: Re:An even more evil poll : savage727 May 30, 2004, 11:32:57 PM Hi Ed:
No I do not have the 60th of Kane nor the Superbit of Lawrence of Arabia. I have the Special Collector's 2 disc edition. That is one great movie!! I love Peter O'Toole in so many films especially "Night of the Generals" and "Murphy's War". : Re:An even more evil poll : Ed... Van Halen May 31, 2004, 06:36:39 AM Yeah the 2-disc Lawrence has a great documentary on disc 2.....the Spielberg comments are worth it alone.
: Re:An even more evil poll : savage727 June 01, 2004, 10:52:07 PM Hey Ed:
Mark told me that he met you at Collectormania. What actors autographs were you after and whose do you have? Mark & Roz have been so great to me getting many LOTR's autos as we do not have anything like Collectormania anywhere near where I live. : Re:An even more evil poll : Roz June 01, 2004, 10:59:22 PM Oooh - wait til he tells you about his poster (but in all fairness he's got 3 exams in the next 3 days which might keep him off the forum!)
>:( : Re:An even more evil poll : savage727 June 02, 2004, 11:45:46 AM Thanks for the info about Ed Van Halen Roz. I will keep a lookout here when he has the chance to reply. I told Mark via email today and wanted to let you know I was able to purchase tickets online today (it was the first day tickets were able to be purchased) for the LOTR's Exhibition when it opens in Boston on August 1st. The Exhibition runs from August 1st to October 24th. I got tickets for Lynn and I on Sunday, August 8th at 9:00 A.M. which was the first time slot available that day. I know there will be much less traffic on a Sunday driving down to Boston. I am excited and glad it was in a location I can get to easily. :)
: Re:An even more evil poll : Roz June 02, 2004, 07:13:09 PM Fantastic Ed - you will totally love this! I certainly enjoyed it - frown at Ed because I don't think he went whilst it was in London (EVH!!!)
It was stunning, you will want to throw your costume cards away when you have seen the costumes ;) LOL no actually it is more like having very cool souvnirs : Re:An even more evil poll : savage727 June 02, 2004, 11:33:23 PM Roz:
Any idea why they will not allow you to take pictures? It seems a crime not to be able to do so. I know you had the same restriction for the show in London. |
